Honestly I don’t think I have ever enjoyed a meal at any restaurant as much as I did at Sokrates. We had the meze and absolutely ever single dish was DEVINE!!! You can tell the chef pours his heart and soul into each plate and meal!! The staff were absolutely smashing, super friendly and attentive. Value for money is outstanding, especially considering the absolute quality of the food!!!! Not sure if this is a hidden gem but for me it would be the epitome of a hidden gem!!!! We will 100000% be back again and again!! And if you haven’t been, what are you waiting for?? Thank you Sokrates for the glorious food and stunning service and atmosphere!! BRAVO!!

Finally an amazing souvlaki outside of Greece! Great portion size, fresh authentic flavours - A hidden gem in Bishops Stortford! Highly recommend, we will definitely visit again

Ordered online, went in to collect it and they had forgotten about our order because the were serving all the football lot, we did ask for one gyros with no salad on and it came with everything on but it was too busy to go back in and say something

Delicious food, amazing service. Just eat screwed them over but they were very generous while fixing it would absolutely go again!

Lovely well cooked lamb and didn't have to wait too long for the food. I do understand other comments regarding the modest portion sizes.

La comida, el ambiente y el servicio son increíbles. Teníamos una hermosa mesa arriba con vistas a la ciudad. La comida era deliciosa tuvimos 2 vegetarianos en nuestra fiesta y todos coincidieron en lo increíble que era la comida.

Tried to book a table for 5 for a birthday celebration. Went in in person and was told a £10 per head deposit. Nothing wrong with that, happy to do so, especially as restaurants have 'no shows' but we couldn't pay there and then even though we had the credit card ready. Was told you will be sent a link. Got home and it was to my messages and assumed I banked on my mobile, I don't. Phoned back to discuss how we could pay and was told the system has recently changed, they didn't know how to process the payment put the phone down on me! Sorry you don't want our business despite having being many times before. Approx spend in the past £70 each so just said goodbye to £350 ! I understand that you might use cashless but you really need to put in place some way of taking payments other than on a mobile, especially as we had specifically gone in to the restaurant and were more than happy to pay there and then.

I ordered a large giros plate (26th April 25) and I was brought a half plate with barley any meat. Very disappointed. Is like lately their shrink the order. I was going there for more than 5y but as this was the 2nd strike I experienced I will never go back.

Amazing service, food and atmosphere. Love to see and say hi to Emilio every time we visit.

Really unimpressed by this place considering the reviews. The prices were very high for what is ‘fine’ Greek food. £27 for Moussaka is a joke, whilst £21 for two unflavoured chicken thigh skewers and some chips is just unreasonable. The staff were nice and the setting is good but the food is really underwhelming

Lovely atmosphere and family owned restaurant. The interior is very cosy. At the beginning there’s olives, salad and tursu given. Prices are reasonable. The food is tasty, probably better than the places I’ve been to in Cyprus! However, just a personal preference - I’ve found the mousaka a bit too salty.

Nice staff, delicious food and excellent service. When you visit St. Helens you should stop by Limassol. You can find a car park behind the main street.
