Loved our first visit here. Food was delicious, staff were on point and overall atmosphere was a great experience; thank you!

Dined here last night and found it generally average. Service was confused by multiple people trying to serve us and the left hand clearly not knowing what the right hand was doing. The food average and very overpriced. Basic Grilled dishes came with nothing and everything had to be added....this bloated the price. Feel better food options exist elsewhere.

Wow! Officially the best food we have had in Notts! We all got a couple/few dishes each and not one disappointed. Nothing short of extremely tasty delicious and beautiful food. The restaurant itself is really lovely and in a great location. I am already planning on coming back and bringing more people!

Great food from a wide-ranging menu. Helpful, attentive staff.

Total waste of time. Booked a table online only to be told when arriving at the restaurant that they hadn't actually made the booking their end. A bloke who I assume is the manager/owner came over and condescendingly said that a table for a Saturday needs to be booked a week in advance, and they need 24 hours to confirm any bookings. I'm baffled why they have a booking system if it doesn't actually work? Surely only offer booking slots for spaces that are actually available? The food may well be fantastic so I don't want to comment on that, but I won't bother trying to go back to find out.

Fabulous!! A real treat for the taste buds ,yummy from the very first mouthful,..these guys mean business when it comes to satisfying their guests with dynamite flavours and awesome customer service.... Delicious !!!

Booked a table by the website in August and received confirmation of booking. When arrived did not have a table ready. They found a very small table in a corner that was not made up and placed us there. Food was very good as always when I have visited this restaurant. However we were ignored for the evening and forgotten about. We were not offered anymore drinks, dessert or coffee. They cleared all the restaurant around us and it got very late so we just paid and left. Put me off going again.

Best Greek food in Nottingham. The Chicken Souvlaki is always very good. Also recommend the Gambas and the Spanakopita.

Food was fantastic and good value. delivery time kept getting delayed so was nearly an hour.

Went for anniversary dinner to a historically amazing restaurant with home-style cooked Mediterranean food which we have enjoyed for many years. Sadly disappointed in the quality of food today 😮‍💨 ordered Kleftico and received a dry, unsauced, unseasoned lamb shank on a plate with a wedge of lemon. Totally unjustifiable to then charge £11.50! On the plus side, can't fault service of the staff. Will not be returning anytime soon 💔

our 1st visit here. we ordered a gyros bowl and 3 meze dishes. food was beautiful very tasty and very filling. we would highly recommend and will definately return. very nice atmosphere and very busy for a saturday lunchtime.

Just had an early dinner here. We tried the set menu and it was lovely. Especially the fish, lamb and couscous. The staff were friendly, attentive and very welcoming. We will definitely be back.

I called to reserve a table prior to eating there. We arrived to the restaurant, after walking around the city centre for hours and my friend still had in her hand the cup from a bubble tea she had drank earlier. We got through the door and said a very polite and friendly hello to the man who was there and after I explained we had reserved a table, the only thing he said to us before even saying hello was " You're not allowed with that in here", pointing to the cup my friend was holding. I would've left the restaurant immediately after that rudness but we had another friend who was meeting us there so it was too late to change plans. We came to spend our hard worked money in your restaurant and I find it unacceptable for one of your employees to speak like that to a customer, regardless of what your rules are. There are different ways to go about it and I know that from experience, having also worked in the restaurant industry. The food was actually tasty and the portions were reasonable for a tapas place. But even with good food, I would still not go back, there was a weird and very rigid energy in the restaurant.

This restaurant is great. The portion are tapas size so you can try multiple dishes and they’re all awesome.

When I arrived at the restaurant I was abruptly told by a waitress that my food wasn't ready and the chefs hadn't turned the ovens on yet. My 'Just Eat' app stated my food was ready to collect. I said it was fine and I'd come back in 10 mins to collect my food, to which she responded " it will be longer than that". The lady's colleague looked shocked at the way I was being spoken to and told the waitress to go find out more about my wait time. It's a real shame as the food was great.

Second time here, this time with my teams celebrating successful milestone delivery. Good food, service did well considering a table of 12 and reasonably priced. Recommend if you want a place to dine with family / friends in a relaxed atmosphere.

Early dinner before a comedy show, wanted to try here because one of party is a vegetarian and the range of dishes on offer for her was very good. Delighted us all - what a find! Lovely, friendly staff and a cheerful but relaxed atmosphere. Great service and food advice, oh and the food! Fabulously varied and tasty, that lamb tagine was heaven on a plate, especially with lemon rice too, but everything was so good. All the little dishes over the table, we all tried many things and we all want to come back. That limoncello was lovely too. :-D Thank you Yamas, you were amazing.

We are/were regulars to Yamas after going the Cyprus many times and wanting to enjoy the Greek food back home too. The food its-self is fantastic and cannot not say anything bad about it but… the prices are well over the top. We have been going for years now and sent many people there to taste the food but recently a huge increase in costs have made once an enjoyable meal, now too much compared to other restaurants with larger plates and just as tasty food for much less. I have also deducted stars from my review due to the grumpy and arrogant staff (not all of them). Mainly it’s the women who have such an attitude for some reason! We last went as 3 couples and one of us were not sure what came with the dish so she asked, only to be met with a sharp and sarcastic answer. After ordering, she then came with the drinks and was slamming them to the table in a huff and didn’t even try to match who’s drunk was for who. After the meal we wanted to workout the bill into what each couple had which always takes a few extra minutes. The lady came over 3 times within a few moments of us getting the bill and each time we asked her to give us abit more time, she would go off in a huff and eyes rolled but then talking to her other waitress in their language while blatantly looking over at us. Also watch out for the 10% service charge they work into the price…it’s not bloody America and they definitely dont deserve it!

If you want great service, amazing hospitality, friendly and welcoming staff and authentic Greek food then you need to visit this place. We were looked after by Neivyde. She was wonderful and kind. She gave us good recommendations with the menu and even came out with a recommended dessert free of charge! But also everyone on the team we came across in the evening were so friendly. The dishes we had were: Rosemary Potatoes Fried Halloumi Spanakopitta Albondigas con Queso - Meatballs in a rich tomato sauce with Manchego Cheese Solomillo Marinado - marinated ribeye skewers Stifado - beef casserole Moussaka Raspberry and Pistachio Semifreddo Kormos Mosaiko - a traditional chocolate biscuit cake Kourabies - almond shortbread cookies Everything was outstanding! It was hard to pick favourites as it was all so delicious. So our highlights were the Moussaka, the meatballs and the Semifreddo and the Kormos Mosaiko. The meal ended with a shot of Ouzo from the owner. Who also told us some lovely stories and experiences he had. We all left feeling beyond happy with the evening. The food was 10/10. The service was 10/10. The atmosphere was 10/10. Perfect all around! Thanks to the team at Yamas.

Visited with 4 girlfriends this Wednesday evening. Outstanding food and service. Friendly, helpful and have great advice on food and wine 😊 Ordered the Mezze for 4 plus an additional main & side. Was plenty enough for all of us. Would definitely recommend.

We visited yesterday for our 1st wedding anniversary. We got married in Cyprus so this seemed the perfect place to reminisce. We were blown away by the friendliness and kindness of the staff. Such a warm atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious and authentic. We can't wait to come back!! Such a gem of a place!!

Booked a table for dinner on the recommendation of a local gallery owner and weren't disappointed. We had the vegetarian Meze for two. While every dish was delicious the quantity was almost overwhelming! One meze would have fed both of us more than adequately. Fortunately the staff offered us a handful of "takeaway" containers and a carrier bag so nothing got wasted! The Greek red wine is also good value and goes well with the food.

Ah what a place this is. Fantastic atmosphere, fantastic food, fantastic staff. We had a shared starter which was delicious, I had two smaller plates for my main, beautiful Greek style sausages and some absolutely delicious ribeye steak. The rosemary potatoes were fantastic. My Wife had some incredible lamb too. We will definitely come back when we are in Nottingham next. I forget our waiters name, but he was a brilliant host.

2nd time here as 1st time was so good but we left being disappointed. Female staff were rude and foods were half standard compared to my 1st time experience. I order the same as my 1st time and this time the portion size was half. 7 of us were here to celebrate leaving do. One of our colleague faced childcare issues which meant they’re running late but the female staff who look after our tablet said if our colleague is late they won’t able to order any foods because kitchen will be too busy and rushing us to place our drinks and foods. 8th colleague didn’t turn up because we were told no foods will be served for them. We felt so unwelcome! 0 - stars if I could Witnessed a 15+ people sat a table behind us. They had people coming late constantly in and out until we finish our foods. The exact female staff didn’t once complain why they have people turning up late and not placing their foods order! Disgusting customer service - though i found a decent restaurant in Nottingham but what a waste of money to be treated this way.

Yamas is a family run restaurant in Nottingham city centre, the food is delicious and staff are wonderful!

Average food, but what made it worse was how dirty it was, from the thick black dust on the skirting to the food and grease splatter on the walls where you are sat. The toilets were no better, would not go back.

Had the Meze deal for lunch and all of it was so good! The beef in the Stifado was very tender and my patatas bravas and spanakopita were amazing. Staff were polite and prompt, it just got very busy...which I guess just goes to show how popular it is.

I would not return again. Service initially seemed good but the basics lacked. It took three times of asking to literally just get tap water even though we had ordered other drinks at the same time. Servers just walked past. Staff are also very presumptuous. Personally, the food was overpriced. 11 quid for chicken on a skewer with nothing else. Food was also really bland so overall disappointing, definitely better options for eating.

One of the best restaurant meals I have eaten at any price point. As good as anything I’ve eaten in Greece. Booking essential as very busy.

Had a wonderful meal at Yamas before a concert. The taste of the olives made me wished for a visit to Greece islands since my last trip decades ago. The highlight of the evening was the oven baked moussaka - lovely flavours with crispy edges...heavenly. The grilled octopus was done perfectly...crispy charred skin yet tender and juicy. The falafel with hummus was great combination of chickpeas & aromatic herbs...heavenly when paired with a Pinot Grigio. Lamb Souvlaki was tender with a crispy charred edge. Great with the tzatziki, a Greek youghurt sauce. The staff were warm & friendly. They also explained how the dish was done. Great value too as the cost was less than £80, including a bottle of wine, for three persons. This place deserves a strong recommedation.

After reading the reviews we were really excited to try out Yamas but I’m sad to say that despite the staff being friendly and welcoming the food was a complete let down. Everything we ordered was sub par and flavourless. Wish them the best but won’t be attending again sadly.

Felt let down. Had heard and read amazing reviews, but it didn't live up to the hype. The chicken samos dish in particular was on par with a cheap chain pub rather than a restaurant. Food quality did not match the price at all. The service was decent, bar the pushy ask for a service charge at the end. The atmosphere was let down with the lack of diners.

Foods were delicious and the staff were friendly.

Really enjoyable lunchtime meal, great choice of dishes and some nice wines, particularly like the red Othello 😋. Good value for money. We'll be back 😁.

Excellent food was very busy food could have been hotter

The tapas which we ordered came out quickly and the waitress who served us was nice. From then onwards it was a bad experience. The chicken tapas dish was frozen and reheated, the mushrooms sharp from too much lemon, my girlfriend even questioned how cooked the prawns were. You shouldn’t have to wonder if you are going to get a dodgy stomach from eating mussels and prawns …. Been a few times before and thought it was decent but never anything special.. especially not to warrant a 4.7 rating. Not going back.

The food is always good at Yamas and the service is impeccable. My only comment is that it is noisy at a lunch time

A real shame how much this place has changed for the worst. I used to love it, but greed has crept in. The food is average and the service is perfunctory, so don't expect anything above and beyond. Certainly don't expect that the bread you need to eat your taramasalata comes with the dish, as that's another £4 for a few pieces. The main course, under seasoned at best, I could have produced myself with minimal skill and 2 pepper pots on the table don't really help. Also, don't expect that you average meal will cost you for just the meal. Look out for the service charge, no matter how few people eat, at 10%. No restaurants, except the best, do that. So really, if you fancy average Turkish food, with average service, over charged and with a sneaky service charge that really doesn't deserve the price, this is the place you should go.

This is a lovely place to have a relaxed lunch we visit every three months or so. Service is a little slow but I think this is because the food is freshly cooked to order We usually have the tapas but for a change I had the chicken Gyro bowl and my friend had the salad. I couldn’t eat all of mine bit was lovely and I hated leaving some

Absolutely amazing food. 6 of us had the lunch meze -3 dishes for £14. Each dish was really tasty and big portion sizes. I would 100%go back there, which is a recommendation in itself

Went for valentine's night and was absolutely wonderful. Everything was perfect. Highly recommended. If you want that greek family restaurant then this is the place to go.

Cannot believe this place is so highly rated, it was the worst “greek” food I ever tasted. The place itself is nice enough, but staff are not knowledgeable about the menu and give out wrong information. As for the food… first time I’ve ever seen a greek salad with so many ingredients, it’s like they threw all scraps from the kitchen in there. Completely flavour- less!! And yes I have been to Greece, so I know what it should be like. As for the mains… the whole concept of “meze” is just silly because you have to order so many different dishes so end up overpaying and overeating!! Why not just have main meals - a piece of fish/meat + chips + salad, price it appropriately and happy days (like they do in greece by the way) instead here you order a dry, tasteless piece of fish that comes ON ITS OWN so you then have to order an extra salad + pay for a whole bowl of dry, presumable cooker from frozen chips. Absolutely ridiculous concept design to squeeze out more from the gullible clients. But yes, most importantly, all the food had ZERO flavour, I don’t know if it’s the poor quality of ingredients or if the chef had a bad day but it was TRAGIC!! Avoid!

Even though we spoke to the waiter in greek they were talking back in English which I found rude considering we went to a greek restaurant. I found it inhospitable.

Ambience, service, and food were all wonderful. It is definitely a good place for a leisurely and relaxing lunch.

Yamas Meze & Tapas restaurant is outstanding! The staff were incredibly helpful in guiding us through their menu on our first visit. The food surpassed expectations; the Chicken souvlaki, Kleftico, and Falafel were all delightful choices. Highly recommended!

Excellent Mediterranean food! We had the sharing menu to try a bit of everything, and nothing really disappointed us (if not maybe some of the dips). Friendly staff, and always busy so recommend booking.. and great to see their ethical commitments for the environment

First time visiting and my friend and I had the tapas lunch menu. There's lots to choose from and I appreciate the gluten free options that are just as tasty (also vegan). The atmosphere is warm and inviting and so are the lovely staff. Our meal was piping hot, freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. The toilets are spotless but are downstairs. We will definitely be returning.

The food was exceptional!!! Today was my fist time at the restaurant and I am already looking forward to the next ones. There are plenty of options for vegetarians/vegans 😍 The music was a bit loud making it hard to talk to people on the other side of the table without shouting but besides that the experience was perfect. I brought my new girlfriend here a few years ago and we think this was our first food date, so we were out messing about with all the fun Notts has to offer and remembered this place - especially as it caters well for her gluten intolerance and our vegetarian preference. How we have not been back sooner actually disappoints me. The food is outstanding. We had to wait (come back) for a ta me which is testament to how busy it was even post 8pm but we were looked after, and there aren't too many places that have such a fabulous wine menu that includes Greek and Cypriot wines we like. Excellent dips including beetroot and aubergine not just (the fab) houmus and tazatziki (which was on steroids.. wow). Extra GF bread when requested (couldn't leave any of those dips) Excellent mains of roasted veg, beans, stuffed mushrooms (omg the mushrooms) and Bulgar wheat. We are 100% coming back here sooner, and thank you also for getting our relationship off to the best start 3 years ago. Places like this need to be recognised against some of the commercial chains saturated in the city but I feel like they don't really care too much as they are doing so well still. Had a great family night out here. We love Greek food and this was pretty authentic. One of the better Greek restaurants we have tried in the UK. Service was excellent (not like Greece!) and staff were very friendly. Good selection of international wines too. Highly recommended.
