What a lovely restaurant! Amazing value and delicious authentic home cooked food. Half price drinks and hearty dishes. We were so lucky to find this place! The waiter was very friendly and attentive and worked very hard to ensure everyone was happy. The Rillettes, tomato and cheese salad, and chicken chowder starter - all delicious. Beef stew, lamb meatballs and lamb stew with ginger all mouth watering and cooked perfectly. Cheese and biscuits dessert, waffles and peach tart also amazing. Half price bottle of wine to top it all off! Three courses for 3 people with a bottle of wine for £44. This is a real gem.

Noticed the shop in York during our December visit, but did not have chance to make a purchase. However, up visiting family again so was on the top of my wish list this time! Did not regret…the macarons had a slight crisp with the first bite, then into the delicious soft-chewy centre, whilst all being light and airy. All flavours were divine, but would most definitely recommend trying the mojito! Staff were great, told us how to store them correctly and enjoy at their best.

Just had a pizza in this eaterie, not just a pizza but the nearest pizza we’ve had since we visited Italy, looked and tasted just as good. The 2 staff were very attentive and polite too.

Visited for Sunday Lunch off the set menu - excellent value at £40 for 3 courses of such a high standard plus an amuse bouche. Family of 4 with our spaniel who was made to feel most welcome in the brasserie. Attentive staff, relaxed but professional service. We had 3x starters of tempura prawns and one venison which were all stunning. 3x roast beef with all the trimmings which was excellent, and yet at the same time disappointing compared with the salmon fillet on pea risotto - best thing I have tasted in as long as I can remember. Chocolate dessert which featured at least 7 different components. If you are looking for a fine dining experience at the same cost as a bog standard 3 course meal pretty much everywhere else this is the place. Highly recommended, we will be back.

Having moved into the area 2 years ago, we’d been meaning to visit the White Lion as part of trying all the local restaurants. The staff were very friendly indeed and made us feel welcome. We had a drink in the bar whilst we waited for our table to be made ready in the restaurant and were called about 20 minutes later to go in. Having waited a while I had expected that the restaurant must’ve been full, but it wasn’t, less than half the tables were occupied which made the wait a little strange, not a problem, just odd. I ordered fish and chips and my wife their burger. Whilst both the fish and the burger were nice, they were both served with soggy chips, the kind that you get when the oil used to deep fry them just isn’t hot enough. I get crispy chips with my £4.95 fish take away from the chippy across the road, so at £13 per mains we’re talking top gastro pub prices for which getting the basics right isn’t an unreasonable expectation.

Like so many we hadn't dined out in a long time and my clever husband suggested to sulky me a mid-week local pick-us-up treat. I can only say wow. We loved Ceres when we last visited in 2019 but the tasting menu tonight with matched wines was out of this world and a steal at the price. Deservedly Michelin-recognised cuisine with such a friendly and professional face (just two young women currently run the whole outfit including single handedly chef-ing and wonderful front of house). Ceres is walking distance for us and we are grateful because it is a destination-grade restaurant. Fine dining for £48pp.

Have been here before and had such a great time, always good music and singers. On this particular night there was a young lady singing older songs, was a breath of fresh air, what is her name and when will she be back????

I flew out Wednesday afternoon and was served by a lovely lady who i think was called Rebecca. the coffee she was lovely with beautiful details on top and the toastie I had was delicious. Would definitely come again.

Excellent restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. This was the second time we had visited and is was as good as the first visit. Really excellent original menu and great service.

El personal y el espacio son increíbles. Se sirve muy rápido pero definitivamente es demasiado caro. 3. 10 por un pequeño café con leche? !

We went in last week for brunch and had booked. The table was rather small for all 5 of us to sit comfortably as it was extremely hot, I’d ask waiter was if ok if we flowed over to table next to us - she said yes but was unable to clear it until she had served another customer which was fine although rather odd as she had just brought out our drinks and was going back that way. We had our brunch served few minutes later all looked fabulous unfortunately to my disappointment the hash royals I had did not have the smoked salmon which was main reason I’d chosen Everything else was cooked and tasted lovely but for nearly £10 you expect the full recipe I thought I’d just mention to waitress when she came to clear table from previous customers however she never did nor did anyone check if everything was ok. For spending around £80 for 2 children and adults on brunch I feel it didn’t quite reach the standard I expected unfortunately

Acabo de comer un kebab de pollo de Butcher and Bab and OMG, este fue uno de los mejores kebabs que he tenido el placer de probar en mucho tiempo, un sabroso y jugoso pollo, con una fresca selección de ensaladas y una gran salsa de chile. acabo de saltar a mi lugar de kebab número uno en Londres Excelente comida, excelente personal amable Gracias de David

Used to have the best coffee in Tenterden but not today. It was so bad we asked the server to check it. She asked the barista who confirmed it was our order. Neither of them offered to do anything about it even when we said it was nothing like our usual coffee. That said this is a patisserie and the pain au chocolats were perfect as was the bread we bought to take away. Just a pity about the dreadful coffee but nothing a bit of training can’t fix.
