Tex Bites was always the go to spot on a Friday evening or Saturday, Mexicana Burger meal with wings instead of a drink or some tenders on the side. Fast forward to Covid, backyard BBQ teamed up with Tex to perhaps keep Tex afloat. The Mexicana burger is still a goto burger with their crinkle cut fries, but sadly the Backyard BBQ division seems to be lacking and slightly overpriced. Albeit, I only tried Backyard BBQ when they first launched a few years back (I was a bit shocked at the pricing at the time, for a joint that used to be a budget takeaway spot) and returned to try their wings. Sadly, they were very disappointing. 6 backyard wings (basically grilled wings) for £8.50. I’ll get back to the price shortly. 4 out of 6 wings were burnt, not even charred. I’ve included a picture of one of the wings in my review. Since we got takeaway (which we always do) I wasn’t able to check them before I left the shop. Rather disappointing that there’s no quality control, if something is burnt, chuck it and start a fresh. Now for the pricing - Chicken cottage doesn’t even charge that much for their grilled wings. I’d expect at least 8 wings for the price they’re charging. Or jumbo sized wings OR full size wings. Overall, I think the OG Mexicana burger is probably the only good thing that’s on the menu, for the price point at least.

This is an ABSOLUTELY SMASHING fish and chip shop, with its owner fully dedicated to providing you some of the crispiest most delicious fish suppers in the city. The portions are generous and the quality is excellent, you can tell that they are festidious in their cleanliness standards here because every surface shines and you can taste the difference in the quality of the food. The chips are hot and delightful to enjoy, the fish is golden, and so good in quality that you'd compare it closer to something beer-battered in a summertime pub garden dinner than something you've collected on your way home from work during rush hour! Another tip: Try the curry sauce! Sure it's a little different in its consistency to the traditional chip shop curry sauce, but I'm pretty sure this is home made and it's absolutely magical. In what seems a very modest surroundings, the team here at Bishop Bridge should be proud of themselves at the quality of their food, the positivity of their service and how they are creating their own little island of amazingness at the edge of the city.

Amazing Coffee, Delicious Food, and Friendly Atmosphere! This coffee shop/restaurant is an absolute gem! They serve the best breakfast—everything is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The coffee is top-notch, rich, and perfectly brewed every time. For lunch, their burgers and chips are a must-try! Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, paired with crispy chips that are just the right amount of golden. The menu offers something for everyone, and the quality of the food never disappoints. The shop itself is cozy and inviting, with a warm, friendly atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer. The staff are incredibly welcoming and always go out of their way to make you feel at home. If you’re looking for great food, fantastic coffee, and a place that feels like a second home, this is the spot! Highly recommend!
