Wendover Plaice Fish & Chips in Aylesbury Vale

Moved to nearby village last year and saw recommendation for this place, so visited to check it out as I love fish and chips. Freshly fried fish and chips; large cod is really large! Lovely mushy peas too! Friendly service on top of the lovely food. I don’t go anywhere else now.

The best gluten free fish and chips locally. You just need to give them 40 minutes notice for gluten free so order ahead.

The shop was quiet for 5.30 on a Friday, I ordered Haddock and chips. The fish was cooked to order, I only had to wait ten minuets. When I got home the meal looked great, the chips wer soft inside just right but the haddock was very dry and almost tough in texture, presumably it came out of the freezer into the fryer, such a shame.

I recommend if you want to eat typical English food. Fast, inexpensive service. It's perfect.

I'm sat eagerly outside waiting for this chippy to open. The cod is superb, the battery perfect. It's my second visit. What a gem💥

Owners are courteous and polite, Staff too Acknowledge you as soon as you enter the shop smile and ask what u have ordered or would like, The fish and batter are outstanding the chips are great in a box, hate chips in paper. I am a big fan!! When Misha is there all is good in the world.

Order chicken & chips , Chicken over cooked dry and tasted Horrible, NOT appetising in the least, probably the worst chicken I've ever had ... recommend you DO NOT BUY unless you like you toilet !!! .

By far the best chips in Bucks, perfectly chunky and fried just right! The owner is a lovely courteous gentleman and will always shoot you a smile even at the busiest times, staff are all courteous too! I don’t eat fish but my wife’s says it’s lovely.

Gluten free let down. Phoned up an hour in advance to place an order of gluten free food which they said they will make and will be ready for collection in one hour. Arrived to be told they haven't made any of it nor will they due to no space in the fryers. Left very disappointed, no apology for incorrect information given. Would avoid if you have any dietary needs.

Best fish and chips around! The cod bites are amazing, so are the spring rolls. The food is excellent and the portion sizes are really good too. The staff have all been friendly and helpful and it's usually pretty quick service, even when they are busy.

Really great to be able to have fish and chips again, as someone with coeliac this is not usually available and it was delicious!!! We ordered one gluten free meal, and one normal, they looked exactly the same and i was told the batter was almost identical for both! Well done Wendover Plaice for going the extra mile to offer dietary options! the battered halloumi was also a HIT!! 👍🫶😊

We always order the “cod and chips meal deal” (the medium portion size does not disappoint) and the cod bites for the kids. The best thing is to go on a Friday when there are more people and be able to contemplate the harmonious work of the team behind the counter, while you wait for your succulent order to be prepared. They should broadcast it live. Even though there is no special place to park the car, I always find a space right in front. Only one complaint: the new door has broken the fluidity that was generated by an entrance door and an exit door, not to mention the three chairs in the front line to contemplate the show. I will miss them.

The cod and chips from here is exceptionally good, in fact we travel 25 miles to eat because it’s so good. Staff are always efficient and friendly. Brilliant shop.

Two stars because I like their food. Otherwise ever since the new management the atmosphere has gone downhill. I don’t appreciate being laughed at when I walk in and looked at like I’m on day release from prison.

Amazing food as always. Ring them up and collect at the stated time. The fish and chips are cooked in different oil vats and this means the taste of the chips are amazing and don’t have a fishy after taste. The chicken burger is better than KFC!

Run by the same family for years & quality is second to none. They also do amazing gluten free batter..... but ring ahead first. Wouldn't go anywhere else!

Just had fish n chips from there. Great service and met my request to “wrap up well as I had a long walk”. Food still hot and very tasty when I got home 👍🏻

Was recommended to come here by a friend and was not disappointed! Very good fish and chips with massive portions. We had the haddock. The battered sausage and mushy peas are very good also. Very happy and pleasant staff even when very very busy. Highly recommend you visit.

Over the years I've tried various fish and chip shops in the area and this is definitely the best. I've never been disappointed with the food and the service is always friendly and efficient with reasonable prices.

They cook the best Spam fritter in the whole county, plus their prices are reasonable. What's not to like?

Just had the most amazing gluten free fish & chips. Absolutely perfect, pre ordered and collected. Would thoroughly recommend.

First off the young lady and young gentleman behind the counter are superb, friendly and greets you with a smile, now for the food. Spring roll was spot on, crispy on the outside and fully cooked on the inside fantastic 👌🏻 fish cake was also on par, as was the savoloy. Now the chips a bit like my ex ugly to look at( but she does make a good sandwich) they weren't nice to look at but looks can be deceiving and actually tasted great....so all in all great little chippy to go too

Hit and miss at this chip shop...

The chips were lovely but the chicken was the disgusting. It tasted reheated and I couldn't eat it. It's a shame because all of the reviews are great. Maybe I just picked the wrong day.

Great batter, proper crispy. Flaky cod, really tasty. Really nice chips. Great portion size. Rarely as good as this in this part of the world!

Consistently excellent fish and chips. Fish is always fresh and batter crispy and tasty, never greasy. Chips are also really nice. Never ever soggy and grey like you see from so many takeaways. Normally get cod bites for the kids (same quality as regular cod) - only need one portion for two of them. A cod, cod bites, saveloy, chicken nuggets and a large chips for about 18 quid. Can't go wrong. Best in Bucks. And in the summer it's only a ten min drive up to Coombe Hill. Sitting up there, eating fish and chips, looking at the view: lush.

First time using this fish shop and boy was it well worth it and well worth the 8 mile drive very friendly staff excellent service and a great battered burger with chips and scraps will most certainly be going back

We had 2 large cod and a 1 large chips to share between 2 adults, plus curry sauce and gravy. Absolutely delicious, best chippy in bucks. Plus great set up with screens and 1 way system. Well done keep up the great work.

Best chip shop in Wendover by far. The quality of the food is far superior to their reasonable prices and the owners are wonderful. Don't bother using any other chip shops and come here, highly recommend :)

The best fish and chips for miles and miles. The team working there are great, portions generous and prices reasonable. Don't even think about going anywhere else.

I always get great service here, and the prices are very reasonable. You usually get served fairly quickly, but be prepared for a few minutes wait around 6pm when the dinner rush is on. The food is good quality and the portions are pretty big - the regular chips can easily be shared between 2.
