I went here last night and explained that I am a Coeliac on a Gluten Free diet. The owner said he could pan Fry the fish for me. I can honestly say that I have never tasted fish as nice as this. This shop is definitely worth a visit, and I will be going back.

Had my first fish and chips from here the other night and I was not disappointed, tasted very fresh, you can tell they keep it clean and change the oil regularly. Chips were really good and fish was meaty and tasty. If I am being hyper critical I would say the batter on the cod could’ve been more crunchy (personal preference) but I didn’t ask for this and maybe lots of people don’t like it crunchy. Thanks for a lovely meal :)

Would have given 3 stars purely for food - Soggy chips, large haddock wasn’t really large and of dubious freshness. Food reasonably priced but you get what you pay for. Abrupt staff member who when asked to divide up a portion of fish and chips for young ones so that one could be salted and the other not, became difficult, argued and took some chips away which was petty. Definitely not the best fish and chips in Balham - lots of reviewers posting five stars I assume are family and friends

This is my local fish and chip shop and I can't recommend this lovely shop enough. The food is lovely and there has been a big improvement with the chips. The staff are so lovely and friendly.

Really impressed by this fish and chip shop. The fish batter is thin and crispy, the chips are the right amount of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The prices are affordable too compared to many other fish and chip shops in the area which are almost 30% more expensive. Highly recommended!

Best Italian in south London. I’ve never been north, so possibly there too. Giuseppe and the other staff are a delight, they are on point at all times. The food is sublime, I’ve been eating here 7 years now, every time it blows me away

This is the best fish & chip place in Balham. The batter is amazingly light. My 7 year old orders the large portion, not that it is not big enough but because he loves it so much. He has requested this as his birthday meal. Family business. I can see they have a lot of regulars & always remember you & have a chat. They take card & cash

Amazing proprietor who manages to chat up everyone in the neighbourhood who comes by - he says he doesn't live there but seems like he's embedded himself I'm the local social fabric! Food is great, fish well battered and fresh. Wonderful value for money too.

Good food but regularly overcharges a little bit to make a bit extra. He's a nice guy so don't say anything but it's annoying.

Genuinely one of the best fish and chips I've had. Good traditional chippy style chips and perfect light and crispy batter. The staff here are also super friendly. Would highly recommend - I live in Battersea and I make the trip here to get it!

After reading the reviews we decided to give this place a try and it was so delicious!!! The batter on the fish was perfectly spiced, the fish was perfectly fried, the curry sauce was to die for, the portions were generous and the price was sooo reasonable. Best fish and chip shop in London. I'd come back everyday just for the calamari.

The fish’s batter was not only texturally perfect, but it had taken on these beautiful but very subtle cakey, biscuity notes as it caramelized in the frying process. It was so well seasoned and provided an incredible contrast the moist cod it encased. Ocean fish bar also offers an incredible array of side offerings, the curry sauce is especially noteworthy. So I’m very encouraged to go back and try more. The patron I spoke to inside was a very pleasant man as well. Made me feel very welcome as a first time customer. I had explored a bit around the area but don’t plan on bringing my custom anywhere else after tasting Ocean Fish Bar’s fare.
