The White Swan

Bamburgh, Northumberland
01/11/2019: My wife and I stayed four nights at The White Swan and had a wonderful stay because:- Location - just off the A1 and 6 miles along the back roads to Bamburgh, and Seahouses. Cosy - log stove, oak beams and stone walls.Nice decor and very clean. Friendly - a great welcome from Andrew, David, Sandra, Lauren and Emma. The locals were friendly too! Great food and wide choice, both in the evenings and at breakfast. A place to return to.
30/10/2019: Was having a few days away to return to one of our old haunts and popped into The White Swan. Food was very good and the staff were very attentive. Overall a very good experience and an eating place I would recommend.

Thai Vibe Cafe

Alnwick, Northumberland
06/11/2019: The restaurant is not a gimmicky themed restaurant as it is all about the food. The flavour combinations were delicious and the recommendations spot on.
30/10/2019: Amazing food- exactly what you would hope from with Thai cuisine and more. Clean crisp flavours and brilliant balance along with attentive and knowledgeable service. Donor miss this gem if you are in Alnwick.

Bistro 23

Lesbury, Northumberland
05/11/2019: A cute and friendly little restaurant (not many in this town) with good honest old-fashioned food. Tasty and generous portions
19/10/2019: Excellent seafood meal. Both enjoyed the sea trout. Great friendly service in a place we have been meaning to visit for the last 14 years. So glad we finally made it!

Simbla Indian Resturant

Westgate, Newcastle upon Tyne
10/11/2019: Food was lovely, the staff were very friendly even got a drink on the house! Will definitely be back best Indians we've had.

The Horseshoes Inn

Longhoughton, Northumberland
04/11/2019: We were staying in the area for our wedding anniversary. Started researching various places for our anniversary meal and came across The Horseshoes Inn.
29/10/2019: Very nice lunch, after a trip to Alnwick Gardens we were looking for somewhere to have lunch and came across this lovely pub. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and had us joining in with their conversations about Christmas which was so nice. The food was brilliant, big portions, my husband said it was the best sticky toffee pudding ever. This is very high praise as this is the only pudding he eats when he goes out for a meal, so he has eaten 100’s. The only downside is that we live 300 miles away otherwise it would be our go to pub.

South Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne, <20£
06/11/2019: Since my last review of this restaurant, we have made around 4 visits because we find the service, food and atmosphere are excellent. Their lasagne is without any doubt the best we have ever had, I love the meatballs and the bruschetta starters, recently I had the featherblade of beef off their "specials" menu and my wife had the pork shoulder from the "specials" last week. We live 20 miles from the restaurant but frequently visit Newcastle for shopping, this restaurant is a 5 minute drive out of the city centre but it's well worth the travel. As said, the food is fantastic, the staff are efficient and friendly and even the music is to our taste. This place is a little gem.
05/11/2019: One of my favourite Cafe in Newcastle! The Staff are so friendly and welcoming, the food delicious and great coffee ! Highly recommend 🤩

Cafe Sapore

Hartburn, Stockton-on-Tees
06/10/2019: Really lovely little restaurant with very friendly staff. We had Sunday lunch which was beautifully cooked from the meat to the vegetables. Starters and desserts great too and very reasonably priced. Will definitely return.
06/10/2019: Sunday lunch comes in 3 courses, we opted for starter and main(me) Main and pud (wife)

Danielles' Bistro

Hexham East, Northumberland, 30-45£
09/11/2019: We went twice as it's difficult to get Gluten and Dairy free meals out. The first taste of Butternut Squash curry they did especially for those with dietary restrictions was so good we had to go back again. My husband had Chicken stuffed with Haggis in Whisky sauce with a generous side order of vegetables. The next time he had Pork from the set menu. He was so happy that he complained why where they not nearer Edinburgh. A starter salad with artichokes and warm beetroot was delicious.
01/11/2019: Another delightful trip to the Bistro. Food was delicious wonderful home cooking. Very good value for money.

Piper's Pitch

Longhoughton, Northumberland
06/11/2019: Great food, good service and friendly staff what more do you want? This is situated by the car park and you can eat at some tables or take the food away.
17/10/2019: Andy is an absolute star. The food is superb. Had an amazing BLT and burger with black pudding. Lovely coffee to wash it down. Free kipper skins for our 2 dogs. Amazing value for money. A superb place!!

Amble West with Warkworth, Northumberland
10/11/2019: This place is so popular, I hardly need to promote it any more. The staff are lovely and although we had to wait for a table, they were very efficient at getting us sat down. It was difficult to choose, from tasty burgers to fishcakes of smoked haddock. Not forgetting the famous Cullan Skink! I had a great bottle of Golden Plover (Allendale) whilst my companions appreciated the wine. All in all a good place to stop for lunch.
04/11/2019: This is a very smart cafe in this lovely village situated away from the castle but worth the walk.

The Harbour View

Hartley, Northumberland
07/11/2019: Once again the our fish and chips were excellent , everything is so fresh , the cod is thick and the chips lovely 😊
05/11/2019: Me and my partner went here whilst staying in Newcastle, We are both from Essex and hadn't been to the north east before. I looked at fish and chip shops in Whitley Bay, This is in Seaton Sluice a couple of miles away.

Amble, Northumberland
10/11/2019: This was our second visit and it was equally as good as the first. It looks so inviting from the outside , warm and welcoming, and that's what you receive when you enter. The restaurant is quite unique with its own sense of style. The food is to die for and is absolutely delicious. The menu is varied with lots of fish dishes as you would expect but also caters for those of us who prefer meat.
10/11/2019: Small quirky restaurant that’s the location not the food or service. Excellent choice of local produce and sea food. A really good range with extensive specials board. Helpful informative staff . We were not rushed , a mixture of holiday makers and locals. Reasonably priced very good value for money a night to remember.

Shaheens Indian Bistro

Elvet, County Durham, >100£
10/11/2019: Visited Durham for three nights recently and ended up here every night, it was so good. I’ve eaten in hundreds of Indian restaurants over the years and can say this is one of the very best. Fresh ingredients and quality meats cooked to order by a team that really care about food. Can’t recommend highly enough!
09/11/2019: Very tasty food and incredibly friendly waiters. Shaheen’s has a very cosy feel to it and I enjoyed every bite of my meal.

Knitsley Farm Shop Cafe and Granary Cafe

Delves Lane and Consett South, County Durham, 30-45£
09/11/2019: Enjoy coming here for a treat. Wanted to just flop and chat with a cuppa. My guest had the plough mans and i had finger food, sweet potato fries and the battered onion rings. Didnt wait long. More coffes and then was desert time. Guest had the chocolate cheese cake and i went for the banoffee. Food was good, alsys is. Serving staff always friendly and jovial. Be aware that at the moment bathrooms are being refurbished so you have to use a portaloo in the car park. Light lunch for 2 cost £36
09/11/2019: This is a very small place , lovely little farm shop with butchers sells all sorts of good unusual produce. Cakes look amazing. Visited the granary was so busy had to wait in the waiting area and put our names on a waiting list. After 20 minute wait waitress cane to get us. Menu quite broad but very limited vegan / vegetarian options. The only thing available to us vegans was salad and sweet potato fries so that’s what we had. Together with an almond latte and an earl grey tea. Came to almost £30 so very expensive. Cafe very small only ten tables but very busy (Saturday 11.30). All staff very pleasant and smiley, food was very nice and tasty. A nice place but wouldn’t go out of my way to visit again just because it’s out of our way and very small but impressed with what there is there in the way of prouduce, even bought some little jars of chutney and some breads.

The Raby Hunt Restaurant

Heighington and Coniscliffe, Darlington
03/11/2019: This was our first experience of dining in a restaurant like this and it didn't disappoint. I was concerned before we went that there would be something in one of the courses that I wouldn't like. However, we throughly enjoy every course!
02/11/2019: Lunch per head is now £165! With cheese per head an extra £25.
