Boquerones Tapas and Cocktails

South Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne
09/03/2021: We went here after lockdown had eased, my self and Ami had the most wonderful time. Well spread out, Covid regulations followed well and felt really safe. Take Covid aside, the food was amazing, Cocktails were spot on and the service second to none. Highly recommended.
03/03/2021: During lockdown, Boquerones are offering take away and deliveries - we chose the delivery service and our food was delivered efficiently on time and ready to eat. We had a mix of meat, fish and vegetarian tapas which were all excellent. As were the two puddings. Highly recommended.

Cake Stories

North Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne
06/03/2021: Great cakes, not so good coffee. Has lovely decor, atmosphere and staff. I'll be looking to go back when we can sit in, might get a hot chocolate next time though.
28/02/2021: I love this place! Excellent cake, tea selection, coffee, hot chocolate and more... lovely, family run business. Would 100% recommend.

Ouston and Urpeth, County Durham
09/02/2021: Fantastic food excellent service with friendly staff and lovely family owners
05/02/2021: Outstanding! We've bought from here before, but today they outdid themselves! The mussels with creamy garlic sauce, unbelievably tasty! And the linguine Pescatore? Yummy! Perfectly cooked, packed with flavour. Always get the chunky chips too, family winner! I'm so grateful this place delivers! Top recommendation.

The Wheel House

Tynemouth, North Tyneside
23/03/2021: Fabulous little gem of a coffee shop. Great choice of drinks and delicious cakes and the staff are just awesome
05/03/2021: Best coffee and cake selection in North Shields, vegan cakes also available too, my favourite place to go!

Cafedral Durham

Elvet, County Durham
10/03/2021: Lovely food and the staff is very welcoming and professional.
17/02/2021: The owners of the cafe were extremely friendly and kind, welcoming us with our dog. Food was healthy and absolutely delicious. There is a wide choice of classic dishes, savoury and sweet, gluten free and veggie. I had the quiche of the day with salad, followed by their trademark fresh scone with cream and jam.

Simbla Indian Resturant

Westgate, Newcastle upon Tyne
07/12/2020: They went to extra effort to fit me in for a last minute reservation! Beautiful flavoured food with great portion size. Staff were very attentive and went above and beyond to ensure a great visit.
11/11/2020: My girlfriend and I went for our 2nd time to Simla a few weeks ago and were amazed when the staff remembered us from our last visit months before. They even recalled our names! Shelly and Abdul were absolutely excellent as always and really made the restaurant feel cozy whilst attending to us. The food of course is the best Indian food you can find in Newcastle and can't be beaten but the real experience lies in the kindness of the staff! I will definitely be back again as many times as possible and I can't stress enough how much anyone should pay Simla a visit.

Fifteas Vintage Tearoom

Bishop Auckland Town, County Durham
30/10/2020: Made to feel special. Well worth a visit.
29/10/2020: Beautiful, cosy cafe and delicious food, friendly, attentive staff.

Branches Jesmond

North Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne
03/03/2021: Pre-lockdown revuew: The food was very good, the service was attentive, and the tables were far enough apart that it felt safe coronovirus-wise. An excellent night. Great menu.
14/11/2020: The restaurant is beautiful and the food was amazing. I felt the veg option was thrown together as I had a plate of vegetables but it was so fantastic I don’t care.I advised that I was vegan as I was asked while booking. Our waitress wasn’t aware and didn’t know the options on arrival. I thought that was a poor start. The waitress was nice but was so over the top it came off insincere. This was equal parts hilarious as is was uncomfortable! I wasn’t sure if she was taking the mick. So much talking! We were also asked how our food was 3 times and there seemed to be a swap in waiting staff half way through our meal yet our waitress was still working? It felt disjointed and sloppy. The meal was lovely but I think for £100 for a 2 course meal for 2 people with no wine we should have exceptional service.

Bee Hive Inn

St Mary's, North Tyneside
19/02/2021: One of my favourite pubs. Food is amazing been multiple times but never been let down once. Lovely out door area for kid. O did I mention they do local beers. My dad says the pie is the best pie he's every had and he's try a lot.
08/11/2020: Fab Sunday lunch as usual. Better that any takeaway we’ve ever had. Only thing missing was the brilliant atmosphere!!

Beirut Lounge Newcastle

South Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne
14/03/2021: Always a treat. Great food and lovely people. Thank you.
21/02/2021: Please bring back Lamb Shawarma. I recommend this place, been coming for 2 years.

Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, 20-30£
21/02/2021: We tried the sharing platter starter followed by Rogan Gosh, mushroom pilau and a peshwari Nan. Couldn’t eat it all but it was absolutely delicious. Can’t wait for the day we can get back to the restaurant and chat to the friendly staff.
14/02/2021: Fantastic takeaway on valentines evening. Flavours were really outstanding and fresh. Very efficient on line ordering and delivery. We love visiting Zamorins but the takeaway service is a great second best until lockdown ends.

Cafe des Amis

Morpeth North, Northumberland
07/03/2021: Cafe Des Amis has been our go-to spot for special occasions as well as just a place to enjoy a date night for years. The atmosphere is clean and beautiful, the food is phenomenal, and the service is unmatched.
06/03/2021: Great French Restaurant in Parkville. Romantic and quaint.

Elder and Wolf

Whitley Bay, North Tyneside
13/03/2021: Top notch bait pricey but worth it
06/03/2021: Lovely food, good portion size, really tasty. Very highly recommended!

Thornley Woodland Centre Cafe

Winlaton and High Spen, Gateshead
06/03/2021: Exelent walk up the Derwent Valley 👍👍👍
19/02/2021: Perfect work for a toddler/pre-schooler looking at the wooden sculptures around the trail. Think it is around 1.2km. Only problem is the parking as the car park is small and can be busy especially at weekends. There are a few places to park on the main road further down but it is a busy road so wouldn't recommend with children in tow.

Doggie Diner Durham

Newton Hall, County Durham
30/11/2020: Great bacon sandwiches! The dog quite likes it here too.
14/11/2020: We picked up a lovely afternoon tea with selection box for Robbi. Lush.
