This is definitely a hidden gem and one of my favourite places to eat in Newcastle. The burgers are amazing and the staff super friendly. Would come more often if it was possible!

Friends of ours visit here frequently, so we decided to give it a go. Quirky little place and location, but well worth finding it. Jim had Classic burger and I had Haggis burger and fries. One of the best burgers we both have had, everything about them was perfect. The service was great, very friendly staff Need to try breakfast menu

Found this fabulous little eatery/pub on the holts yard. We turned up without reservation and were warmly welcomed by lovely staff who were able to talk us through meal and drink choices from the menu. The food was delicious, the majority of us had a variety of real home made burgers beef or chicken, the tastiest burger I’ve ever had! The halloumi burgers looked delicious too! All very reasonably priced. The indoor & outdoor seating areas are well positioned creating a lovely atmosphere whether eating/drinking as couple's or larger groups. The staff certainly contributed to the lovely evening we had, they were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Will definitely be going back there! 👏

Our most recent visit was actually our third visit but they've been in quite quick succession since finding this gem of a place! Our most recent trip was to cap off my own birthday celebrations and as per usual the burgers absolutely hit it out of the park. My intention is always to get the Turf n Turf burger but the specials that they have on always win! There are worse situations to be in. On our most recent visit, I had the special BBQ burger which I believe had slices of BBQ Pork Belly and a side of their Parm and Truffle fries. The burgers are incredible, juicy, and tasty, you can just tell they're freshly prepared and made with passion. We shared a portion of onion rings. I can't remember what burger my girlfriend had, I know she thoroughly enjoyed it, but she did have the Buffalo Fries which I sampled and they were lovely too! Our original visit was planned to get something to eat before a gig, in February, around the corner at The Grove for two couples. We had booked but my girlfriend and I decided to visit before that for breakfast. The breakfast was incredible. After we got seated I quickly realised just how much I was going to enjoy the place. They were playing country music so knew instantly I'd found somewhere that knew what was what! Breakfast was incredible, the biscuits in particular were done really well. As someone who's spent some time in America, this plate of breakfast food was just as good as some plates I'd eaten while in the States. Staff have always been lovely on every single visit. The atmosphere is incredible. It's just a great place to eat. I'd recommend booking a table and I'll definitely be back.

Amazing food!! We both had chicken burgers which I wouldn't normally go for but I can't wait to go back and have another one.... The side dipping gravy was divine and the fries AMAZING! Really friendly staff made us feel so welcome! Such a cool area.

Amazing food and friendly staff

We discovered this place last year and now visit at least every three weeks or so - it’s that good. Their breakfast speciality is biscuits and gravy; but not biscuits like custard creams, that would just be weird. I think they’re American versions of biscuits - much more savoury. But we visit more for lunch and here the focus is on burgers and they are really flavoursome as are the fries and you can opt for Parmesan and truffle option. Up until now they’ve only opened on Fridays and Saturdays but today was their first Sunday opening for Sunday lunch with an option of salted beef, smoked turkey or pork belly. It was a great portion size, delicious and cooked perfectly so hopefully they will continue with their Sunday opening. There’s always a great atmosphere and the staff are really nice. Top tips - reserve a table - you can take a chance as a walk in but don’t be surprised if there are no burgers left. Also - take your own mirror 😉

This place was recommended by a work colleague. It was amazing we tried a few different things and can say we weren't disappointed. The pancakes are unreal and the maple syrup was delicious almost like a caramel sauce 🥞🤤. The biscuits were gorgeous by themselves even better with the gravy. Atmosphere was warm and friendly and the music appropriate for the setting. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. We'll definitely be calling in again soon. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The genuine warmth of hospitality is matched only by the fantastic food which is served. When we have friends and family visit there is only one place I want to introduce them to and that is 2knives. My father isn't a fan of burgers, and by Fan I mean it's not something he'll choose on a menu. He loved everything about his experience at 2K. Thank you Sophie for making Dad have such a memorable time!!

From the moment you walk in the door this place is southern hospitality at its finest! Sophie, David, and the team are consistently sending out some of the best burgers, biscuits, and pancakes I've had the joy of trying. Outstanding food and service which made me feel right at home even though I hundreds of miles from it. I'm not being dramatic when I say words can't do this place justice, a true gem in the heart of the North East

Home-made sausage patties are excellent and fried eggs are cooked perfectly. Pancakes are American style and very good. Hash browns are ok but need seasoning. Dining in was busy on the day I went, but staff were nice enough.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would , absolutely gorgeous food so much care goes into everything they make. Burgers are seasoned perfectly and full of flavour. This establishment is a diamond in the rough. This cosy little gem tucked away at the bottom of Byker sells some of the most delicious American 'southern comfort' style grub you'll find in the UK. The breakfast biscuits were sublime and the iced coffee was gorgeous. Very sizeable portions at a reasonable price. Also gotta say we loved the customer service. Such a friendly and stylish team of colleagues working there - a very unique experience. We'll be back again to sample the lunch menu! If you haven't been here at least once, you're missing out on something special.

Delicious food, great vegetarian options, and some of the most welcoming, accommodating, and generous staff I’ve ever encountered. As soon as we stepped inside we were made to feel right at home, and as a fussy vegetarian the lady taking our order made me feel so at ease with tweaking my halloumi burger to make sure it was perfect for me, and it really was! The other burgers being served looked great too, it’s all ‘proper’ food, no nonsense just really tasty and great value for money. New favourite and excited to visit again!

Excellent food, attentive and very friendly crew, great dining experience. There’s nowhere to fault it really. Burgers were well loaded but not stodgy and convoluted with silly ingredients. There’s a confidence in a certain simplicity and it was definitely evident here. The gravy was excellent. Beef well cooked. Chicken well cooked and good portions. I’d give 6 stars if I could get a Bloody Mary next time! Bravo.

This is our third visit now and we came back for the breakfast. Wow! It was the pancakes that appealed so much that we had to come again just to try them. So we opted for the chocolate stack and a 2k breakfast. Both were unbelievable. I would have maybe liked an additional side pot of syrup with the pancakes as an addition, but I am pretty sure if I had asked for that, they would have gave me one. But otherwise, it was exceptional. It's difficult not to be OTT about this place. We've now tried their main menu, the breakfast menu, and the desserts. All have really impressed us. Not only does the food taste amazing and really good portions too, but the people again were just lovely. It's a hidden gem, and I have no doubt that if a Tik Toker paid a visit, like they have at Proven Goods round the corner, then this would be even more popular. I hope that happens, as they deserve to be really successful! But then again, we'd probably struggle to get a seat :-) Check it out, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

We've just popped into this place after seeing a Tik Tok for a completely different eatery, which happened to be closed. We'd never been to Hoults Yard before at all. Didn't even know it existed, but what a lovely little place 2 Knives is. We had limited time and only wanted a snack, so opted for a slice of the mud pie, which was epic, and some parmesan truffle fries, which were really lovely too! They were so nice and welcoming, and we loved the country music, which created a great atmosphere. Never been before, hadn't even heard of it; but we'll definitely be back to try the burgers and breakfast pancakes. Possibly even tomorrow 😀

Where do I start... I had the 2knives breakfast stack... Basically sweet and savoury pancakes... Amazing... Everything was made fresh. It's conveniently located within Hoults Yard... The staff are extremely friendly and polite..

What a lovely place to visit, hidden gem highly recommended, very warm welcome, good atmospheric feel, quirky comfy furnishings with private booths, very polite happy helpful staff. Amazing food, reasonable price for quality food & service, I had the 2k breakfast with pancakes, very tasty and perfectly cooked, generous portions, my friend had 2k Benny poached eggs on toasted muffins, very nice indeed. Can't wait to return and try other foods. Don't miss out on trying this venue 👌.

Amazing food, brilliant staff and a lovely atmosphere. The BBQ chicken burger was the best I've had. Not normally a chicken fan as it tends to be dry, but this was the exact opposite and delicious. Chips and Gravy also unreal. Service, quality and portion size are all spot on, defiantly worth a trip!

What a hidden Gem! The staff are absolutely amazing. The lovely lady who’s served us apologised profusely that there was no chicken dishes available, but im not surprised after we tasted the quality! The food there is fantastic. No fuss, just good food! We all absolutely loved it and even considered getting another 2 burgers ti share amongst the group afterwards 😂 The staff are absolutely fantastic, the boys in the kitchen had us all laughing and the lady who was serving was just so so kind ( she even bought me a drink on the house with it being my birthday!) 10000% Reccomend ❤️

Absolutely fantastic spot in Hoults Yard. The food is always amazing, with fresh ingredients and very generous portions. Breakfast is a particular favourite for us and ranges from yummy pancakes (with lots of delicious toppings) to more country style food like biscuits and gravy and proper American breakfast sausage. Having grown up in the Deep South being able to get good biscuits and gravy is a little bit of home/nostalgia. Even better is there’s always country music playing in the background. The biscuits are lovely and flaky and the gravy is hearty and peppery. They’ve also got superb pies (they change each week but staples are the key lime, pecan and brownie). Yummy coffee too with plant milk alternatives. For lunch and dinner there are super yummy burgers and fries. I’m partial to the dipper which is delicious (it comes with a jus to dip your burger into). They’ve got vegetarian options for breakfast and vegan options for lunch/dinner. I’ve had the veggie sausages and they were really good, nice flavour and texture. While the food is fantastic what makes 2Knives really special is how lovely everyone is. Everyone is super friendly, happy to have a chat and makes you feel really welcomed. If you’re ever in Newcastle and wanting somewhere great to have a bite or a drink, definitely head over.

My husband found this place on Google when looking for BBQ restaraunts in Newcastle. We were staying in town while visiting our son so took him out to dinner. It is found on a small industrial complex not far from the river near Byker and you wouldnt find it without directions. The car park is Paytopark, free for 60 minutes but they will validate your car reg so that you dont have to pay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We turned up without a booking and they had no other customers but it was full up when we left later on. The menu isnt huge but if the food is good, it doesnt matter. They had local beer/cider available as well as regular brands in the fridge. Food is cooked to order and I can honestly say that it was one of the best burgers I have ever had with my husband and son agreeing! I had skin on fries and beer battered onion rings with my Jimmy Buffet burger, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Couldnt fit in pudding but they kindly pakaged up some homemade pecan pie to take away. It was delicious! I would thoroughly recommend a visit if you like BBQ, country music and home made food in a great atmosphere.

Called in here yesterday as full circle was busy and not doing Pizza .. and this proves to be a great decision. I had Haggis Burger which was exceptionally good. All of the burgers we had were lovely and the fries were great. They had a good selection of craft beers for a smaller vebue and I settled on one from Full Circle. The venue was full so we sat outside but it was warm and there is a small covered area. The kids were welcomed too and enjoyed being outside. All of the staff were lovely. Service was exceptionally quick and efficient. I'd absolutely recommend this place and will be back again shortly!!

2knives is a great, reliable spot with good food, a relaxed atmosphere and a carpark right outside, so ideal for meeting up with friends from all over as everyone can get there. Food is always spot on, although a bit pricey - never disappointing. A highlight used to be the pecan pie, but I've not seen that in a few visits. Hopefully it reappears! The coffees and whatnot are grand, and one of the only places you can get authentic sweet American iced tea (with no silly flavours, although they'll do peach etc if that's what you like). One of my favourite places!

I'm not usually a burger lover but the haggis one U had at 2knives was delicious. Others in our party all agreed the burgers were top quality for taste and size and service was friendly and knowledgeable. Beers on tap were excellent too. Highly recommended

The first time we visited we asked about the biscuits and gravy and were given a taster. They are actually delicious, but we haven’t got round to having them yet as we have had other things off the menu. The breakfasts are fabulous and the pancakes are awesome. The staff are efficient and very friendly and approachable. Burgers next for us I think. And a dessert as they look so good. Go - you will not be disappointed. A hidden gem, don’t all go at once though, we like the current relaxed vibe. We do like to support family businesses in these tough times for hospitality, so we will be back. At the moment they open Fridays and Saturdays

Stopped in on the off chance when in Newcastle on some business, the food was absolutely excellent , had an absolutely delicious burger, cooked to perfection, the fries were incredible, the onion rings just as good and had a vast array of tasty beers and largers, ciders and soft drinks ! Service was absolutely spot on, lovely staff, great parking and a very very chilled easy competent experience. Would definitely eat here again if in newcastle and definitely recommend to others. 5 stars from me.

Best burgers in Newcastle with a fantastic atmosphere. I can't hype the place enough, I absolutely love it. Burgers are great with a decent choice of beef, chicken and veggie options, as well as weekly specials that are usually 10/10. Breakfast pancake stacks are out of this world. They have cocktails too that will knock your socks off. As well as loads of local beer options. These guys are doing something really special and the care and talent is evident.

Visited for the first time Saturday early evening with a large party booking of 15/20 people with children and babies. The staff were amazing and friendly. Provided great service and nothing was a problem for them. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly. We will be back again.
