Rio Brazilian Steakhouse - Quayside in Newcastle upon Tyne

Just had an amazing meal here! The meat selection was superb, especially the picanha and lamb – cooked to perfection. The drinks were on point, and the atmosphere was spot on for a night out. Our server was super friendly and made sure we enjoyed every moment. Can’t wait to come back with the family for our celebrations!

We had a late lunch booking (end of May) for our Anniversary, and on arrival were shown straight to our table by the very friendly team. The table had a lovely view of the bridges over the Tyne, and on the table was a lovely paper message wishing us a very Happy Anniversary. We were then offered a complimentary glass of prosecco to celebrate, which of course we accepted. We have been to the restaurant before, so knew about the salad bar and how the food would be served, but this would've been explained fully for a 1st visit. All the staff were friendly, and very helpful for our entire visit. Nothing is ever too much trouble. The food was, as always, amazing. A fabulous supply and variety of meats (which only stops arriving when you say), tasty fries on the table and the salad bar is delicious! While we were finishing our drinks (after our meal), we had a lovely chat with the Manager Alex who was cleaning tables & preparing for the evening bookings. He's a very lovely, friendly man, working with a great team - keep up the great work guys. Thank you for another lovely experience😊

Great evening with excellent food! Quality and authenticity of food surpassed expectations. Salad bar is much more than the average with a selection of really lovely hot and cold dishes to enjoy. Then there is a plentiful supply of hot freshly carved beef and steak (many varieties of cut and flavour), pork, lamb, chicken, spiced sausages. Dessert had to be a let down - but no! - it was all perfect and again tasted like it was freshly made and to a high standard. Best restaurant of that type I have experienced in the UK. You can see staff work extremely hard to make it all work - and were happy to help when we asked for anything - really appreciated. Excellent value for money and really worth a visit.

We visited Rio Qauyside in May. Service where very slow & every single piece of meat we had served was so dry. The salad bar was disappointing as they didn't have alot of what we were wanting.

Great service! I was asked about the allergies and the next thing there were three people and the cook advising me on what I could eat and what not. Great meat 🥩 the meat is served in turns. We were asked what was our favourites, so they could bring more of it! Really lovely people working there. The salad bar was amazing!

Arrived on Monday Bank Holiday and managed to get a table. Staff were amazing and very attentive. Food from the BBQ came around very regularly with a variety of selections. Salad bar was very good with a large mix of hot and cold food. All very tasty. Would recommend a visit.

I brought my boys to the first Brazilian barbecue, they loved it, and so did I. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious. I visited here today for the first time on the back of hearing some excellent reviews, and they were absolutely correct. The salad bar is nothing short of amazing, and the meats, oh my word, I've never had anything like it. Every single one we were served was fantastic and I wouldn't change a single thing. Our servers today were Catherine and Tiago, and I could not have asked for more pleasant, well mannered, and quick service. Compliments to them both. I can see why this Newcastle's no.1 restaurant on trip advisor!

Had an awesome meal here! The atmosphere was spot on, making for a really enjoyable experience. The service was top tier – they really hit the mark. I particularly enjoyed the Gammon and pineapple and sirloin as well as the ribeye they were super tender and flavourful. If you're looking for a good meat dining experience Rio Brazilian is definitely worth a visit!

I booked a 3pm table on Friday for my husbands birthday on a weekend away in Newcastle. It did not disappoint. Service was great . The salad / sides bar was lovely the foccacia bread was amazing. The meats were brought around regularly. My fave was the rump steak, the gammon and the minted lamb. I had added to the booking that it was my husbands birthday and he had a little printed happy birthday on the table when we were seated and they also brought out a icecream happy birthday board at the end. Really lovely experience and we would definately return.

The service was the best. Tatianna took her time to look after us, especially our youngest who has very particular dining requirements. The food was great and the service was equally good. Would highly recommend

Went for my birthday weekend, and cannot complement the quality of both the food and the service highly enough. All the staff were extremely pleasant, and the food served was on another level (literally). A must attend place for any tourist coming to the ‘Toon

I took my 15 year old son here on 21st February for lunch and it was fabulous. We arrived ridiculously early for our booking and this wasn't an issue. The guy who showed us to the table explained how everything worked. The salad counter was very well stocked and the meats just kept coming. All very good quality too. The waiting staff were attentive but not intrusive and the setting was great. All in all an excellent experience.

I'm never a 1 to leave a review as Im not the type of person to complain . Went to Rio which at first we got sat down . Waited 20 mins for to be able to order drinks . We were sat at the windows which seemed to be ignored more than the main sitting area as waiters hardly walked down with food . Lady waiter took our plates whilst I was at the toilet then when I came back she had already put the bill on table ( still had 30 mins of the booking left ) felt like we were been rushed out well before allocated time . Food was very good and cooked perfectly . We only got offered beef and pork never seen any 1 walking around with chicken or lamb as stated .

All the staff are amazingly friendly and efficient. Remembered our meat preferences and couldn't do enough to make sure we were happy. The food is amazing and plentiful. Even tried a few dishes I'd never had before. They salad bar was nice fresh and vibrant and the seaweed salad is something I would return for You will not be disappointed.

Would really recommend this experience if you are a meat lover! Food was incredible, service was so quick and friendly. We were made to feel really welcomed, and encouraged to try everything. Would 100% return!

I had a lovely evening at this steakhouse! The meat selection was top-notch, and I especially enjoyed the cheese breads and the crispy French fries. Service was spot-on, really friendly and attentive throughout our meal. The only downside was that the table we were at was a bit dark, so a better spot with a view would make it perfect. Overall, a really enjoyable meal that I can't wait to repeat!

Waited 30mins for meat to come round and mostly it was rib eye did get fillet once but chewy I waited 8 months to go it.was a xmas present i won't be back

This was my first visit for me and my son and the whole experience was amazing from start to finish the food was absolutely delicious the staff were so welcoming they had great understanding of allergies and showed me the foods which contained the things I was allergic to. I was there celebrating my son's 21st birthday although a bit late because I had been in hospital I wanted to make it up to my son and celebrate with him and it certainly didn't disappoint my son was grinning like a Cheshire cat from start to finish we were left feeling full and satisfied the staff were all amazing and looked after us very well me and my son has found our new favourite place to go now thank you so much for this experience it certainly didn't disappoint

Yesterday was my son's birthday, and we decided to celebrate it at this wonderful restaurant. The experience turned out to be even better than we expected. One of the highlights was the surprise birthday ice cream that the restaurant provided, which truly delighted my son and made his day extra special. The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish we ordered was prepared with great care, and the flavors were spot on. From the appetizers to the main course and desserts, everything exceeded our expectations. The presentation was also impressive, making the meal even more enjoyable. The service was exceptional. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made us feel very welcome throughout the entire evening. They paid close attention to every detail and ensured that we had everything we needed, which added to the overall pleasant experience. Thanks to the excellent food and warm hospitality, we had a fantastic time celebrating my son’s birthday. We will definitely be returning in the future and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

Cannot be beaten! Best restaurant experience in the north east if not the country. Love coming here - the whole experience from the location, the service and staff, the value for money and especially the FOOD IS FANTASTIC. The only thing to be careful of is to know when to stop! For any carnivore this is the ultimate meat feast! I’ve been to other similar restaurants in London etc- RIO outstrips them all!

The venue is located on the first floor, boasts lovely decor, and has very attentive staff. The food was flavorful and offered a wide variety of choices. The Quayside views were delightful. It was a very pleasant and enjoyable experience.

The best birthday dinner I have ever had! All of the staff were absolutely incredible, and the food.. there are no words for how good it all was, especially the garlic steak and beef ribs! Absolutely fantastic - good was brilliant, staff were excellent

I truly can't go into much detail... It was exceptional. You'd almost think that because it's an all you can eat steak restaurant that the meat would be 'average' at best... You'd be dead wrong. Every damn piece of meat they brought to the table was exceptional in cooking. Perfectly tender, juicy and fantastic flavour. If you love your meat, then you'll love this place, I can't put it any simpler. Personal favourites: Minted Lamb and Beef Skirt If you haven't tried, you need to. Definitely, 100% coming again.

Quite possibly the worst restaurant experience I've had in my life. Went with my fiancé. Wasn't busy. We were seated right next to two incredibly loud men. Politely asked if we could be seated elsewhere (at least two identical tables behind us were free). Response was no they were too busy. A short while later a couple with an incredibly loud and whingy child arrived and I clearly heard them ask if they could move to another table other than the one they were assigned. Manager said of course and sat them right next to us. Was still hungry but just paid and left. Never again. Disgraceful.

Had a fantastic lunch today - the most stand out part was the service, friendly, personal service from all staff members. The Salad bar was good but I've had better variety at other places, but everything I ate was yummy. The meat was delicious and there was more than enough of it! Thank you for a lovely lunch.

I was intending to go to the ground floor restaurant for lunch but they were closed, I didn't even realise there were two restaurants at the same location, so I headed upstairs and I'm so glad I did. What I got was a novel and tasty food experience! The salad bar has a wide variety of vegetables, cheeses, garnishes, deli meats, breads and seafood, and it's help yourself. I really enjoyed taking a little bit of everything to try it all, there was nothing that I didn't like, and quite a few things I'd never seen before. But the best was yet to come. A chef makes his way around all the diners with some fresh cooked meat, if you like the sound of what he's currently holding then he will carve you off a chunk. I got to try a solid serving of so many different things. Spicy chicken wings, two different cuts of steak, spicy sausage, BBQ chicken, extremely tender lamb, gammon and pineapple. All of it was cooked beautifully, all of it was distinct from each other, and all of it was well worth trying. The wait staff were lovely, I was well looked after but not pestered. They poured pints well! The cost was much lower than I was expecting. Considering how much I ate and drank I was shocked that such variety, choice and service was so cheap. I'll not only be recommending this place to anyone that'll listen, I'll also be back myself as soon as I can, preferably for dinner this time as I'm pretty sure they do an even bigger variety of meats during the dinner service. Thanks from an Irish lad who had no idea what he'd walked into, but he's glad he did.

After 3 years it has finally become a left done because of the lack in service and lack of steak they want to offer you. You used to get steak after steak services to you but know they want to give you cheaper meats like chicken, turkey and pork instead. Disappointed after our last visit here. At one point I want over 10 minutes to even be offered any red meat.

Went there for birthday. Beautiful food, very attentive and pleasant service, delicious stakes and wine, could not get enough.

Good atmosphere. Food was poor quality and very expensive. We don't mind going out for meals as a family and don't mind spending the money for a family evening but this was overpriced and poor quality imo. You can find much better places that have just as good an atmosphere but with much better quality food and not as expensive. The waiter at the end also laughed when I asked him why a £15 service charge was added for 3 people? We won't be going back. Newcastle has much much better places to dine and enjoy as a family.

This steakhouse is very nice, and the staff were friendly and polite. We made a request when we booked to not have a pork or pork gelatine meal. The staff showed us all the food containing pork and pork gelatine, as well as the ones we can eat. So helpful and a nice experience. Obrigado

Iwent to this restaurant 2 weeks ago , by myself. Overall, the food was worth every penny. The staff went above and beyondand the service was very friendly. The decor was fantastic and the location is central to the city and easy to find. I cannot Recommend this enough. Thank you

All staff were very friendly and welcoming The food is absolutely beautiful! The meat is cooked to your request and it’s so tasty. There’s a great selection at the salad bar which do the best coleslaw. The drinks are high standard and taste great Only downfall was the atmosphere, there was a family next to us who had children who were on tablets at full volume and the staff didn’t seem to notice, it was just very off putting for me and my husband. Overall a great place to eat but very pricey

Arrived and were seated but no one came for drinks order. 15 mins later a waitress took drinks order and explained what we had to do. Went got salad came back and the guys with the meet were queuing to give us meat which ended up like a pile of nothing on plate. 2hr and 35 min into our visit the girl from front desk came and said not hurrying but the next people are here can you finish your wine in reception, this was 7.35 and we should have had until 8. Won't go back we all felt like cattle being hearded.

Lovely venue on the first floor. Decor is great. There is a buffet for salads and sides. Great salads, farofa was great so were the beans. The keeps coming, formula 1 style, they bring it to your table, brazilian rodizio. Staff is great! Eill be back for more. I still think poncha fro Madeira would be a good addition to the menu.

I love churrasco. I've had good experiences and bad. This experience was amazing. I mentioned I've not had Chicken Hearts in years and the staff brought me as many as I could physically eat. Every single skewer brought to our table was exceptional. Don't be put off by the price... It's worth every penny!

Great experience. Endless amounts of great vibes and food. If you like steak and you enjoy being able to eat as much as you can then I would pay the Rio steakhouse a visit.

The food is lovely as always.we went out as a celebration.But for upping the price to 45 and adding a service charge the service was a big let down.I went to the jesmond rio a year ago and it was 5 star,perfect.But this time round it the service was slow it took a good half an hour to get a drink I had ordered and the food took just aslong. I held this restaurant to a high standard but tonight was a very big let down.

Very disappointed with our visit last night. We have visited before and it was amazing. We were a large group of 14, the staff were lovely and friendly. However, we were not offered sauces to go with our steaks, on arrival like other tables were. Our table seemed to be missed a lot with the meats, which meant we were sitting for 15 minutes with no food, coming to the table. This happened a number of times, despite the cards being on green. The drinks took the same time if not longer. The selection of meats was poor, a lot of the meats on the menu, did not come out. The steaks were very bloody, and all cooked the same. There were 4 of us who do not like bloody steaks, more medium to well done and there was no other option. so there was not a lot of selection as the other meats like pork, chicken and gammon only made a brief appearance, with only one of each coming to our table. On our previous visit the selection of meats had been amazing. Over all very disappointed for the amount of money we spent.

Visited for my birthday last weekend and the staff were so welcoming and even gave me a little card to say happy birthday! Food was great and service was quick and friendly with a wide range of food on offer and delicious cocktails. After absolutely stuffing my face, staff then brought out a little dessert gesture from the company to again wish me happy birthday - more than generous!
