Cacau in Redcar and Cleveland

What a lovely little Gem in the centre of Redcar. We were looking to have lunch and half of our party were vegetarian and vegan. This gave us all lots of options and choice (which is so rare) and the quality, food and service even on a busy day was amazing - go and treat yourself and support a local business - loved it x

Excellent eatery on Redcar High Street. My wife and I were in the area by chance so popped in for refreshments and really enjoyed the experience. Very nice surroundings, pleasant staff, and excellent quality and service. Will definitely call in again when in the area.

Absolute jewel of a place! Cold wet day.. looking for lunch… slip pickings everywhere else … only chips and burgers on offer. Looking for wholesome veggie/vegan… almost lost hope then found this! Hot, home cooked food made to order with love in a unique slice of Brazil right in the north east…. Hot brown lentil soup with vegan sausage and a tortilla… just delicious. Can’t recommend it enough. Such a friendly family run business. GO THERE! 💗😋😋😋

Called in for breakfast. I had the English breakfast, my wife scrambled eggs on toast, all excellent. We both had flat white coffees which could quite possibly be the best we’ve ever had. Next time we’re both going to have the Brazilian breakfast. Very friendly service from the proprietor and helper

Lovely place to eat. The staff are very friendly, and they do great food! Whenever we come to Redcar, we always visit. Try their special sauce with your food, it’s very tasty. They have lots of options for people with dietary needs, and beautiful cakes. The coffee is excellent too. Would highly recommend.

Lovely little cafe with friendly staff and a nice range of cakes and treats. Good that they had dairy free, egg free and gluten free options and non dairy milks.

The most delicious, tastiest coffee ever! I had forgotten how good it actually is. 2nd visit in a week. Nice crinkle cut chips too! Fabulous! My only complaint was my table was very sticky however, it doesn't stop me giving it 5 stars. X

I don't know why we didn't visit Cacau when we moved to Redcar - it only took us four years to find out how good it is!!! We go there around every two weeks and their full English breakfast is terrific! Cooked to order, piping hot, great sausages and my favourite - a free range egg with a runny yolk! The staff are friendly and very accommodating and the coffee is excellent. Can't recommend Cacau enough!

Found your cafe by chance and what a find. We loved it. The food was amazing as was the service and atmosphere. I wish there was more places like this ❤️ keep up the amazing service 👍

Service was slow. Tables were dirty and place looked a bit scruffy. Not to mention owner wasn’t very pleasant

Amazing Brazilian Cafe. Cozy and welcoming. Popped in for a coffee. But they have a great selection of food. Homemade cakes and excellent coffee.

Just returned from Redcar and felt compelled to review this great little gem. We came across it last year at this time and knew we would return. Lovely and clean inside and a good value for money full English breakfast and also other options. The coffee is good too. Service with a smile from the lovely girls on the counter. We will return when next in Redcar. Also do wonderful milkshakes and cakes.

Took a German friend, my daughter and son-in-law to Cacau. As always, the welcome and service was exceptionally friendly. The food was a great success, all plates were fully cleared and we were so full that they helped up pack the remaining delicious cake. Highly recommended!

Chose this place to treat myself and a friend as I've been before and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. I sadly read another recent review that was not worthy of the fare be available Their opinion was based on the name and the lack of coffee choices, so I'd just like to point out that this Brazilian family run business is not about coffees but about community. Their choices of food encompass Brazilian flavours as well as the more traditional fare. Their home-made cakes are usually spot on too. I took away their coconut cake on my last visit and it was yummy Don't be put off by poor reviews and come and see for yourself. There was a cafe that had coffees as a selling point but they closed years ago, go figure. The regulars at Cacau go for the welcome and quality fare not for gimmicks

With this name you would expect a really good range of coffees unfortunately that isn't the case it's just a standard cafe range of things and it's not even a proper patisserie with most of the desserts just being very standard cafe fare. In short it is just a run of the mill establishment serving run of the mill produced, in surroundings that to be honest is a bit grubby and in need of redecoration, was expecting much more after reading reviews about it!

Visited here after a long walk along the sea front. Wow we were impressed. Lovely food, drink and atmosphere. A nice little hidden gem which we will certainly be back to. Not forgetting the sauce! Thanks again.

When we visit Redcar this is invariably our cafe of choice. You are always guaranteed a warm welcome as well as delicious hot and cold meals, snacks and cakes; and I always relish the large pot of proper, loose-leaf tea.It’s often the small things that set cafes and restaurants apart from the others, and while thinking about this during our visit it struck me that the thing that sets this place apart is the atmosphere. Quite simply, it is clear that the family who own and run this cafe care passionately about what they do. They also enjoy what they do - and this creates a relaxed and very cosy atmosphere.

We visited here with friends who recommended this place to us. They have lots of vegan options including delicious cake and lovely mains. The staff were really helpful, friendly & knowledgeable about their products. Next time we visit Redcar we will come again!

We’ve been to Cacau many times & each time we’re made to feel welcome. The atmosphere is relaxed & everyone is so nice. The food is exceptional & we simply cannot fault Hamilton, Rose & their team.

We have been coming here for a while and are never disappointed. Pasta, salads and especially the bean soup are all excellent. I am just amazed that we have such a great eating place in Redcar of all places!

Can't find any fault - value for money, customer service, the atmosphere of the place and the quality of the cooked breakfast are all fab!! We love the place for nice cooked breakfast xx

The owners are a lovely couple who prepare all food on the premises including a great selection of home-made cakes. We had the vegetarian gnocchi which was really tasty; our only criticism is that the portion sizes are a little on the large size. All very reasonably priced. The husband is a great guy who spend his free time picking up plastic flotsam and jetsum from Redcar's beaches. A Brazilian guy looking after our beaches, let's hope it inspires more locals to follow his lead.

Popped in today while in redcar, their vegan meals are quite extensive (I'm not vegan but wife is) - We both had vegan cheeseburgers and milkshakes which were awesome! Will be taking another trip down south sometime to visit this little gem :D

Really lovely restaurant. Mocha was the best I have ever tasted and the breakfast was delicious. Staff/owners were so welcoming and friendly. The place has a really nice vibe. Would definitely recommend.

A family run fabulous tea room with a difference, has something for everyone vegetarian and vegan which is lovely to find.

Me and my uncle always come here when he visits. It so cute inside, very traditional and cosy. It's always busy so there's a nice atmosphere and the staff, especially the owner, are really friendly. Plenty of choice on the menu and there's lots of vegan and vegetarian options and interesting drinks to choose from. Will be back again soon

Called in for breakfast after church on Fathers Day. I had the full breakfast which included chips. Everything was of top quality and delicious. The cappuccinos were big, strong piping hot, just perfect.

A surprising find on Redcar High Street. Menu is a mix of mainly English dishes plus quite a few with a Brazilian twist. We went for the Caldo Faijedo, a black bean soup with bacon and smoked sausage plus olive dipped toasted bread pieces. Excellent and a fine pot of tea too, Friendly helpful staff. Definite port of call if ever in Redcar again.

We had noted that according to TripAdvisor, this is the No1 rated cafe in Redcar, so opted to give it a try. We (wife & I), were not disappointed. The cafe is quite small, but tables are well separated so it is not cramped, and we loved the slightly rustic decor. My wife is gluten intolerant so opted for the churros cake, while I had the victoria sponge. Both were absolutely wonderful, being very tasty and moist. The coffees (Latte & Americano) were also superb. This was our first visit but certainly won't be our last as we intend trying some of the hot foods, especially those with a Brazilian flavour.

Lovely food and lovely staff and owners, the cakes which arę vegatarian and veagan cakes arę fantastic plus Your other cakes, but You would not know any difference between the cakes.

We visited this lovely family run cafe again today. We thoroughly enjoyed the ham and cheese rolls and cheesie bread dough balls with cream cheese. Freshly made and piping hot delicious! Washed down with their excellent Mocha coffee Tea for me and strawberry milkshake for our daughter. We had no trouble getting a table but by the time we left there wasn’t a empty seat. Highly recommended

Called in with my gluten-intolerant friend as I'd seen that they offered gluten-free food. Pleasantly surprised by the wide range of options available (she says usually the gluten-free option is 'without bread' so she was really pleased to be offered gluten-free toast). The friendly and affable owner was very helpful, describing some of the more unusual items for us.

We visited the cafe purely because we parked nearby and wanted a cup of coffee and lunch for our 3 year old. What a wonderful surprise! A cosy, relaxed atmosphere and the most delicious selection cake. I had an orange cake which was the best I've ever had. The menu looked fabulous, and although we didn't eat a meal on this occasion we would definitely return and recommend to other visitors.

Called in today during a brief visit to Recar. I wanted a cold drink so I was tempted by the pineapple and mint milk shake - not a combination I'd had before but delicious! Very minty and refreshing. We both had a cheese, ham and caramellised onion toastie and found them faultless - good quality bread with plenty of filling. My husband enjoyed his coffee and we'd have tried the cakes if we'd had bigger appetites - they looked gorgeous! Redcar isn't somewhere we visit very often but next time we're there, we hope to eat in Cacau again. Thank you for a very enjoyable lunch at an excellent price.

The coffee and food are excellent, owner and staff very friendly but service can be a little slow, so no good if in a rush. So if you want to sit and relax and enjoy a coffee you can't beat it.

Finding Cacau on Redcar High Street was like finding a diamond in a muddy field; in that it stands out, is unexpected and is so much better than its surroundings.

There cakes are so good we ordered them for our wedding. I would personally recommend the maltesers cake, coffee and walnut and churros.

Having never ventured here before looked at reviews and thought I've missed a hidden gem. Well I had, busy but managed to find seat by window to watch works go by. Counter service by very nice staff, coffee brought to table. Had wait about 15 mins for food but worth it. Piping hot, very fresh and tasty, well presented with a twist. Tried cafe own chilli sauce which was beautiful too not too hot just right.

Stumbled across this on a nice walk in Redcar. Had a great atmosphere and staff was lovely including the manager who took plenty of time to speak with his guests. Excellent place for afternoon tea with a great selection of homemade cakes. Would definitely recommend!! Thank you

We had not heard of Cacau before and just popped in for a quick coffee and milkshakes.....but before I knew it I was drinking a fantastic Brazilian ‘Steamer’ eating Coxinha’s and amazing homemade cakes. The wife’s coffees was great and the kids loved their milkshakes. Fantastic food and service, well worth s return visit!

Popped in while visiting Redcar from Saltburn and will be going again great very friendly service , lovely tea made in a pot with loose tea . The gluten free cake was perfect best I have tasted in a long time , will be a regular visitor from now on .

Been recommend by loads of my friends! Seen that you do a lot of gluten free cake so thought I would pop in for a cheeky slice and a hot chocolate. Very cold day too so was worth the treat! The young lady who served me and the manager who was talking to me are so lovely. The place had a homely feel to it. Got home and had my hot chocolate and cake and was delicious well worth the money! Defiantly having a date with the fella here!

Excellent food and choices, staff very attentive, made my granddaughters feel like princesses. Will definitely call again.

We were treated with probably the best latte coffee we had had for several years. The service was excellent and really friendly. People who run businesses like this deserve every success and it is certainly a place we will retrurn to.

My wife and I like this place very much and call in whenever we're in Redcar. Nice ambience, always a friendly welcome and service. The coffees are just right for my taste. I particularly like the tea - it comes as loose leaves in a large teapot with a tea strainer (a nice change from the "tea bag in a cup" which seems to be standard in many other places). Good menu - all the items you'd expect plus a few unusual ones (reflecting their Brazilian influence). Good range of homemade cakes including some gluten free ones - delicious and good size portions too. Excellent value.

Called in on Sunday for a coffee to warm up after walk along sea front. First time visited and will be back. Very good friendly service. We both had latte which was tasty and hot which is good as at a lot of places its Luke warm. Food looked lovely. We will be back to try.

We went to Cacau while in Redcar visiting family and had seen some previous reviews. The coffee was outstanding best we had all week by far. The flat white was dark, smooth and properly strong. We had the churro cinnamon cake which was lovely but for us the brazilian finger foid was more interesting . We had the cheese balls, delicious well flavoured light mouthfuls. The kibeh texture was properly rubbly and savoury . The chicken parcel also delicious. We would have loved to try the fejioada (?) but there is only so much you can eat at 11am in the morning !

Was the second time I've visited today since I discovered this place last week. Called in for a catch up with a pal who recommended the acai smoothie. It didn't disappoint. Excellent quality and very healthy too. Friendly happy staff and a nice relaxed upbeat atmosphere. I will be back again

Fabulous Brazilian Patisserie right in the middle of Redcar. Definitely worth a visit. Fantastic food and very friendly people!

We paid our second visit to this splendidly different cafe, and the standards were as high as ever.

We had breakfast and a scone in here yesterday it was a lovely relaxing atmosphere and food was outstanding. Lovely cheerful owners I saw some amazing looking cakes but didn't try them this time but I'll be definately going back to try them very soon.A lovely find in Redcar. I hope everyone's tries this cafe when there in town you won't be disappointed.

It a small cafe located in redcar high street ... does wide range of fresh cake and pastries .. also do morning breakfast and lunch menu ... they have a some selection of Brazilian drinks and snacks in one shelf ... bubble tea taste something different from Chinese version and taste nice ... def go back ...Bubble tea yummy yummy
