We came to have a walk around Guisborough. Decided we would try the cafe. Omg I'm so glad we did. The homemade soup with a muffin was delicious. Then we saw the sweet treats. Cheesecake and Victoria sponge were presented so nice. And tasted just as good as they looked. We will be back 100% recommend 👌

Having seen Thingy-ma-jigs recommended on social media we decided to pay a visit, and we were not disappointed. My wife is coeliac so cannot risk gluten contamination. We became a little concerned because the food tasted so good and didn't have the gluten free taste usually present, but the owner confirmed everything was safe. We live 35 miles away, but will be back as often as we can.

So glad to find this place. Searched "best coffee near me" & diverted here from the North Yorks Moors off the back of all the good reviews. A warm welcome from the couple who own it set the tone. It was lush on every level. All baked goods were homemade; I'm a sucker for a cheese scone, YUM. Coffees were excellent as expected. Will definitely visit again. That epic afternoon tea really caught my eye.....

Beautiful small cafe with homemade food, couple serving very pleasant and chatty. We had panini which was tasty, a bit disappointed that it didn’t come with a bit of salad and crisps. However the cakes were fabulous to die for and the hot chocolate was the best I’ve tasted. Would definitely recommend a cuppa and a cake, if you can get a table, not too pricey for the quality.

Fantastic little cafe in a central location. Staff were amazingly attentive without being over fussy and very polite and friendly. Food was brilliant - had a panini which was absolutely delicious. Main star of the visit was the range of cakes - most if not all (can’t remember) were gluten free with many being dairy free too. Thoroughly delicious - would recommend as a pop in or meeting with friends - venue is not massive so not great for large groups but well worth a visit! Coffee was locally roasted and delightful!

It's a tiny place but doesn't feel jammed up. Lovely decor and great atmosphere. No blaring music so you can chat comfortably. The service was fast and helpful and the food was great. Can't believe everything was gluten free. Even the little shortbread that came with the lattes The price was exceptional. He needs to start charging more. Three drinks, three desserts, and two panini's, less than £30. Pretty amazing. I even heard him say to another customer that no gluten is ever handled in-store so it's such a comfortable place to eat for people avoiding gluten I had a tikka panini and it was very tasty. Followed by a battenburg cake dessert that he makes himself. Definitely going back! 10/10

As my partner is coeliac this place is a sanctuary for us as everything is gluten free. We live in Durham and there is nowhere comparable locally - we have tried! The food is the best gluten free cakes, pie and quiche we have ever had and the prices very reasonable. I just hope it never changes, such a good place, with friendly and attentive staff. Without a doubt, the best gluten-free cakes I've tried anywhere in the country so far, nice friendly cafe giving that been in a warm country house style feeling instead of cold bland cafes . The owner, who is also the Baker and with his son, serves the food , are both very nice and polite, and make you feel very welcome entering and leaving the cafe. Would love more meal selections but giving the fact that all the cakes are freshly baked every day and the cafe isn't a big building its probably not possible at the moment but I'm hoping one day this might be possible because every thing this baker makes is excellent and I highly recommend anyone passing by to pop in and treat your self.

My wife and I have been visiting Thingy-Ma-Jigs Coffee House in Guisborough for several months now on a weekly basis. Sadly, we can't visit more than once a week due to commitments - if I had my way, I would have my breakfast there, Tuesday to Saturday! Bruce makes, in particular, a terrific cappuccino and our other personal favourites include ham and cheese panini, corned beef & potato pie and freshly baked muffins. Have to be grateful to Bruce and his family for all their hard work and commitment to all of us Coeliacs (but, to be honest, I believe anyone, Coeliac or not, would enjoy a visit to this welcoming coffee house).

Small cafe which caters for Gluten free, and also had some gluten and dairy free. Great range of teas. Including flowering teas! And matcha green tea. Normal tea and coffee too. I had a chicken tikka panini. It was nice. The millionaires caramel shortbread was delicious, served with cream and berries too. My friends had other items, a scone, flapjack, slice of cake. They all looked lovely. The cafe is fairly small but nice. Very homely and seemed like a traditional style tea shop in some ways. It was dog friendly too but I would suggest if your dog is a larger dog, it may not be best to take them at peak times. Table service. There was only one member of staff working when we went... Good on them, I couldn't have coped doing everything when it was that busy.

The best coffee shop I've ever found. It's totally gluten free and has loads of dairy free/vegan options too. The afternoon teas are to die for. Amazing quality and a brilliant price. I'd never go anywhere else for one. I'm pretty sure, with notice he can cater for other allergies/intolerances too. Its a small family run business and you really get that homely feeling when you go in. Bruce, works really hard to bake all the wonderful treats and works in there 5 days of the week. He's the sort that knows all his regular customers by name and their order. It's so funny to watch people walk in shout "Hi Bruce" before he replies with their name and asks if they want the usual. It can get really busy but you see people leaving when there's no seats and popping back as they won't go anywhere else! On weekends you'll meet his lovely wife Sarah, his children or in laws all helping out and they are equally lovely, welcoming and friendly. Try it! You won't be disappointed.

I noticed a bad review based on a misjudged evaluation of Bruce. It’s impossible to understand a stranger based on a first encounter. Honesty is rare, especially these days, so rather than attempting to discredit a clearly amazing person and business, that person is advised to think before they speak and judge a gluten free food and coffee shop based on its coffee and gluten free food. Everything tastes amazing every time, and Bruce manages to do it all pretty much on his own, with help of course.

Heard the vegan options were good so thought we would give this place a try. On entering and asking about the options the owner named Bruce was very rude, patronising and unhelpful. We were made to feel very uncomfortable for asking questions. I told him he was rude and walked out. Made a complaint on their FB page to be met with hostility from his wife and abuse from a couple of his regular customers. His wife defended hoping obviously and said he was just direct. I think I know the difference between direct and downright rude . Would not recommend this place to anyone. My original comment on their fb page miraculously disappeared.
