I was recommended the Bari Tea Brewery by a friend and was not disappointed. The range of teas on offer was vast with many interesting flavours! I had the green ginger tea with a scone which was freshly baked and was very tasty! Service was very good and all the staff very friendly.

Drove from Newcastle for a lovely walk in Hulne Park to work up an appetite for the light lunch we had booked at Bari. Temperature taken at the door, all hygiene precautions followed. Social distancing strictly observed, including taking contact details. Soup with a cheddar and mustard scone was delicious. I had sweet potato and leek - a combination I would never have thought of, but now may need to make it. Absolutely delicious. The roasted veg was equally delicious, and very filling. The cheese and mustard scones are to die for and huge! Nor do they skimp on the butter, which is always a (not so secret) niggle of mine. Be warned - we booked for 1.15pm, and the soup was almost gone. Be early or be disappointed! For those with a sweet tooth, a delicious selection of cakes was on offer and ice cream is locally sourced. The menu includes tasting notes on all the teas on offer, which can also be bought in the little shop. The tea is served complete with tea bag tweezers and disposal container, and an egg timer. Customers are given instructions on the best amount of time to allow for the brewing of their chosen tea. The shop has testing jars so you can smell the teas to aid your purchase. If you are not a tea lover, other drinks, including filter coffee, are available. Perhaps not the best note on which to end, but the hygiene in the loo is amazing. Sanitising wipes are provided so you can clean the essentials after use (and before, if you wish) AND it is twinned with a loo in Africa. A fabulous touch - so to speak. I highly recommend Bari for a real tea experience

This was our first visit to the Bari Tea Brewery after coming across whole wondering the lovely market town of Alnwick The young lady that greeted us at the door was pleasant and very friendly and apologised for having to take our temperature while in these strange times On being quickly shown to our table our host explained what homemade scones they had in offer and then left us to make our choice On her return my wife had the cheddar and mustard scone with red onion jam and filter coffee while I had a toasted tea cake and a pot of the Bari breakfast tea Our Oder was quickly at our table and any of our needs where quickly met by more than helpful hostess My wife was blown away by the incredible taste and texture of her scone which was complimented beautifully by red onion jam My tea cake was lovely and light and full of plumb sultanas The tea was also beautifully blended and had a pleasant taste with a full bodied flavour I would highly recommend this little gem of a cafe both for the food and also for the earth and friendliness of the staff.

What a lovely tea room with a large selection of loose leaf teas, that can also be bought in their tea shop. The tea ordered came with a timer so that you knew when it was properly stewed. The crumpets with honey were delicious. Everything was plastic free which was great to see, with honey in a dish with a metal spoon. Covid-19 measures are in place, this is one of the few establishments that actually check your temperature before seating you at a table. Fantastic traditional tea room well worth a visit if in Alnwick.

Offers lovely range of fresh scones of unusual flavours (eg cheese and mustard; banana and cinnamon, fresh cakes and hone made soup (two types: ‘roast vegetable’ and ‘carrot, ginger and mango’ on my visit). Tea was good my partner had two types, Soup was lovely I had vegetable which had a lovely peppery undercurrent. Cheese and mustard scone went down well also. It's always nice to try somewhere new and this was a great find. We popped in for lunch and had the soup and scone option. The soup was absolutely delicious, and the scones were even better than that. We followed it with a couple of the many teas on offer, both of which were again first class. The tea room was warm, cosy and impeccably clean, making it a lovely place to spend some time. On top of all this we were served by the most friendly and informative staff you could meet. All of the staff are friendly, work hard, know what they are doing and are charming as well. We daughter and husband love their tea and choose 2 which they loved. I had an excellent hot chocolate. We also choose a bowl of soup each; it was excellent and so flavoursome. One was carrot, coriander and mango and the other was courgette and coconut - just brilliant. We really enjoyed our visit and cannot commend the staff enough as well as the ambiance. Sadly, we did not make a second visit, but had we had the time we certainly would have returned. Waited for a table with my husband and 8 year old for lunch. They only serve soup and scones for lunch. Board advertised 2 soups. Got given the menus. Still no one mentioned they’d only got one soup left. When we ordered, we got told it was hot chilli and not suitable for our daughter. We asked if she could try a teaspoon as she actually enjoys lots of flavours, and they said no. Apparently it is in portions? Presumably the trouble of heating up a portion of the only thing you sell was too much trouble for your potential customers who’ve been hanging round for 10 minutes. So there’s nothing to eat? I asked. Waitress huffed back that the soup had been being served for ages and was all gone, as though we were perhaps a bit fronty to rock up at a cafe for lunch at 1.30pm. Not a great deal of choice in neighbouring places unless you want things with chips, so be mindful before you wander into Alnwick planning to come here, they may have nothing to eat at lunchtime at all.

“Bari” eh well us Northumbrian folk call everything we like Bari. Tea? No Yorkshire, Tetley, PG Tips, Ringtons; instead specially blended tea leaves for every palate and time of day. Assorted green teas, assorted teas blended to make light fragrant tastes to a bold but subtle one. What goes with tea? Cake and scones, or a bowl of soup all made on site. Your tea is served in a pot with a timer so you can get the best from the chosen tea.

The Bari Tea Brewery is located in Alnwick town centre and has an air of old-world charm about it, rather like tea rooms of a bygone age. The tea is served in the traditional way in a big pot with a timer to ensure that it is given enough time to "mash". A delicious selection of cakes and scones is available to accompany the tea. Not so here, nothing was too much trouble, we had tomato and lentil soup which was to die for as was my cheese scone, if you love tea then this is the place for you, lots of choice and plenty of blends to sample all in a relaxing environment. Have lived here for a couple of years now and am ashamed to say this was my first visit, gladly it will not be my last. Highly recommended.

Popped in after a long drive, best soup I've ever had and all homemade. The waitresses were very smiley and efficient. Thank you!

Called in for lunch while on hols. Delicious carrot and ginger soup (generous bowlful) with a cheese and mustard scone - all homemade - £5.50. Bari breakfast tea was just the ticket after a long drive. A tea lover's paradise. The cakes looked amazing but I was too full to indulge. If you think you've gone too far out of the town, go a bit further as I was walking from memory (a friend took me 2 years ago) and nearly missed it.

Lovely little tea room with amazing selection of teas from all corners of the globe. You can smell the sample jars before ordering and the shop sells packets for you to take away. Lovely friendly service and super home baking.

This is the perfect place for the tea connoisseur. We (being heathens) opted for the bog standard breakfast tea, it was delicious; my husband added a crumpet with honey to his and was muchly impressed. The customer service was top notch and the decor/layout created a very relaxing atmosphere.

Happened upon this charming tea shop by chance, we had a lovely bowl of soup and of course tea but not just plain old typhoo. Worth paying a little bit extra and the service was great as well.

A lovely tea shop, just off the main street in Alnwick. The range of teas is extensive (and delightful), and the selection of cakes alone is enough to tempt anyone to return. The level of service was first class, with the staff taking the time to discuss the types of teas on offer. The place is clearly run by friendly and enthusiastic people. We shall certainly be returning. Well worth seeking out.

Being local, I had often walked past but never ventured in. Showing visitors around the castle meant that we were in need of a fuel stop. I went to my usual place and was almost rudely told that tables were reserved for at least the next hour, so we walked a few doors along and came here. How glad we were! The staff initially were going to move things to fit us in, but a kind lady moved to a smaller table so all four of us could fit in.The soup was lovely, our gluten free requests were easily dealt with, the cakes were gorgeous and we all had fun trying to choose a tea. The staff were friendly and organised and we never felt rushed. It made a fairly fraught trip an absolute delight. I will definitely be back, no doubt bringing many friends with me. If you want a calm, peaceful experience, this is the place in Alnwick!

Pleasant, friendly place, but again run by students. The service was regardless, good. Toasted tea cake over toasted, the tea good. I spent thirty minutes there. A fast turn-over of passing tourists so the shop door was continually being used. The tatty curtain hiding thr customer toilet - doesn't!

In need of refreshment, we happened on this wonderful tea shop. There are teas of all types on the menu, with a detailed description of each one. The menu itself is worth reading just for its quirkiness! We had the tea for two option which comes with either a sweet or savoury scone. We chose the savoury - a large cheese scone served with butter and delicious red onion marmalade, and also a fruit skewer, all on and old fashioned cake stand. There was even an egg timer to make sure the tea was brewed properly before we drank it. The young lady who served us was really lovely and made sure everything was okay for us. Well worth a visit.

I love that you sometimes have to wait 5-10 minutes for the scones to come out of the oven and cool enough to devour! Feta and chive are my favourites. Beautiful fragrant Grace Grey tea for me and my mate Sandra is very partial to a trumpet with butter and honey. This team understand what a tea room should be.

Heading south we detoured off the A1 for lunch into Alnwick and found the Bari Tea Brewery. After two excellent soups accompanied by Northumberland Stottie and cheese scones followed by a citrus spice Ceylon tea we resumed our journey refreshed and replete. A lovely welcome and chilled out atmosphere. Left with tea for presents and more scones. Would definitely recommend.

I had the Steak and Alnwick Stout pie with Buttery mash, mushy peas and gravy - with out a doubt the best pie I’ve ever eaten, The steak melted in your mouth. If you order from Belta Pie Co. you won’t be disappointed!

Cannot fault Atelier at all. We went here after reading the reviews on line, and I am so glad we did. I would recommend you book in if you definitely want a table. One the first visit we all had a different flavored pie and they were all delicious. It was nice not to get the normal chips/mash on the side and instead it was served with salad and pickles. You left feeling full but not stuffed. There was a good choice of beers and wines available and these weren't very expensive either in comparison to a lot of restaurants. Service was spot on. Everyone was friendly and welcoming.

Fabulous breakfast, fairly priced and dog friendly. Lady who runs it was lovely and was great with our dog, giving her a couple of treats.
