Disappointing. Went mid week so not too busy. When I went to order food I was ignored by the two behind the counter. When I asked if I could order was told ina miniute and then ignored again so I gave up. One of the others I was with then ordered. Eventually the food came which was OK but probably took over an hour to get.

As always a welcoming smile, cheerful staff and outstanding freshly prepared food, local produce to enhance a fabulous tasty delicious breakfast wether eating in or taking away. A great selection of food throughout the day with efficient service plus a great atmosphere from a wonderful team of people. Can't wait to go back, keep doing the magic 🙏

Visited on Sunday via motorcycle, and was met with a very pleasant and welcoming staff. Met some lovely local folks and swapped some stories too! Add to that, I got to experience one of the nicest Sunday roasts in England and I felt like my trip was worth it. Highly recommend and looking forward to visiting once more!

I really can’t understand how this pub is receiving positive reviews. Our mother moved to the village two years ago, and we were excited to have a local pub nearby. Unfortunately, it has so much untapped potential but falls short in almost every area. The food is overpriced and mediocre at best, the kitchen struggles to handle multiple orders at once, and the staff are dismissive when you dare to complain. Charging £4 for a bowl of four chips because they’re “hand-peeled and cut” feels like a rip-off, as does the £50 price tag for three takeout pizzas. After swearing never to return, we decided to give the pub another chance with the news of new management. We took our mother there for an early Mother’s Day lunch, but after nearly an hour of waiting, we asked how much longer it would be—only to be met with eye rolling and snarky responses. When the food finally arrived, it was either burnt (my daughter’s chicken burger) or missing basic elements (my chicken supreme had no sauce). My mother’s meal came with tiny, bland potato pearls that were frankly laughable. It was yet another disappointing experience, and this time we won’t be returning. The only positive part of our visit was the shift change, which introduced a friendly, competent staff member who offered us our desserts for free. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to make up for the terrible experience.

A excellent pub which grows and sources much of their food. Even the cherries for the sorbet. Food was tasty and well presented. Staff were friendly, one took the time to tell us about the large estate where they raise the beef, and grow the grain for the beer. I thought the desserts were rather expensive, but very scrumpy. Would certainly go again for a special occasion

Not the first time I have been for lunch at the Pelican and it won't be the last. This pub is amazing and the menu choice has something for everyone. I've visited several times with friends and family and have always had a really good meal here. The staff are really helpful and if you are a dog owner this pub is dog friendly.

Visited today for Sunday lunch. Carpark wasn't busy at 12.45 inside was also quiet. We had booked and several tables did say reserved. Order 2 roasts, a Korean burger and a kids burger. Food was all ok. Roasts were very good. Burger plates weren't dressed which was a bit odd, no garnish. We order two cherry waffle sundaes, strawberry kids ice-cream sundae and a crumble. Puds were good however the cherry waffle Sunday came in a half filled sundae dish. Made it look like they had forgotten the rest of the dessert. A smaller dish would have been better. Only downside of the visit was the waitress pushing upon us her request for a tip. She mentioned we could tip on a separate device which she was waving at us, three times during our payment process. For that very reason we didn't tip at all. We would have done had it not been almost made to feel it wasn't optional.

I so wanted to give it a 5 but charging a 10% service charge in advance is just taking the Mick. An extra 10 % for a pint poured in the bar, outrageous. I paid more for my beer as a punishment for eating there whereas if I’d just bought a beer and gone away I would been charged the proper amount. However The food was fabulous, the staff were attentive and helpful. I’ll go back again but will order drinks separately at the bar. I’d like to choose if when and how much I’d like to give as a tip. They let themselves down badly with the service charge policy which is a shame as everything else was exceptional.
