Booked at short notice and got special offer including dinner bed & breakfast. Pub warm and bustling despite it being a November Friday. Spacious room in Coach House with our Dog. Staff were very friendly and warm and service was outstanding with staff attentive and caring although busy - evening meal and breakfast both great with local produce.

I was in two minds as to whether to write a review as this is such a gem I wanted to keep it to myself! My daughter (9) and I stayed the night and had a wonderful evening and stay. The room was just perfect and spotless. We had a fantastic meal in the evening and the staff couldn’t have been more charming or helpful. We will definitely come back when next up! Thanks so much

We have just stayed at the Bell in Ramsbury for two nights and was impressed with everything. We had a dog friendly room and stayed in the Coach House, the room was spotless and immaculate with high quality fittings. The bed was really comfortable and the room had plenty of space. We liked that the shower was separate from the toilet and sink. The shower was spacious along with the wardrobe with plenty of wooden hangers. We had dinner both nights at the Bell and the food and service was excellent. The cooked breakfast was tasty and hot - one of the best full English breakfasts we have had in a long time. All the staff were fabulous and helpful, Matt the Manager went out of his way to look after us along with Zac, the assistant Manager, they have a very good team of staff. Everyone made sure our beautiful dog was also catered for by allowing us a table with enough room for her bed in the bar area. We cannot fault this beautiful inn at all. Ramsbury is a beautiful village and we will definitely be back at some point in the future. Thank you all for a very enjoyable and fun few days.

Came here with my partner hoping to grab a bite to eat, lovely looking place, unfortunately that is where the good news ends, there was a very drunk local, who was Leary, obnoxious and very loud. Shouting sexual innuendo’s across the length of the bar. This was encouraged by the manager who laughed along with this individuals sexist, loud and offence language. At my local this individual would have been refused service and his bad behaviour would have not been tolerated. Will not go back there, spoiled the visit.

I took my children to Cafe Bella aged 11 and 13. Was told children's meals not so big. So I ordered 3 between 2. I didn't need to as they were plenty big enough. Then I ordered 2 lemonades for them to arrive and were not even half a glass full. When I questioned this I was told it was a small bottle of lemonade. When I asked if you don't do the tap lemonade anymore to my surprise the answer was yes. So why was I not given the choice? Small bottle more expensive. From Tap Lemonade cheaper and a full glass. Told the person in charge I wouldn't be ordering that lemonade again or 3 child's meals. Not impressed. The food and lemonade was very nice but I paid more than I needed to.

Popped in for a drink whilst on a dog walk with family on Sunday lunchtime, the gentleman behind the bar could not have been more miserable if he tried, we ordered 3 drinks, one of the lagers had ran out so he had to go into the cellar to put a new barrel on and made quite a scene about having to do this - lots of tutting and huffing. It was midday and not busy at all so not under any pressure from other waiting guests. Highly recommended that this member of staff receives some customer service training or looks for another job he is more suited to. Will think twice before returning.

The Bell at Ramsbury is faultless. Exquisite cuisine, carefully chosen wines to match and a beautiful, relaxing dining environment. Sustainability beats at the core; it is clearly important to those at the helm and the whole experience is one step beyond. I cannot wait to return and highly recommend. Every aspect was 5 star.

On arrival we looked for our friends who were already there, we were told by staff that they were probably in the garden, no one offered to bring us out a drink, and once in the garden nobody came to tell us our table was ready. Food looked good but was bland and tasteless which was disappointing as it was a Sunday roast. Would I return, NO, sadly. Quite frankly there are plenty of other places offering decent pub food with a smile. As for the 12.5% service charge, TO MUCH.

Food better at a greasy spoon cafe, drink prices ludicrous, opening hours to suit themselves, front of house bar manager can be ignorant to the point of being rude however rest of staff very good So food not up to scratch Beverage’s well overpriced Bar manager needs to go on a customer service course as does the main manager, but as the only pub has a captive audience Good bits Pub is always very clean , garden is great especially for keeping an eye on kids it’s also very welcoming to people with dogs Rooms very nice , clean comfortable and certainly spacious enough , beds very good typically the breakfast is probably the best food served there, good parking facilities and the staff go out of their way for you to make sure you’re staying is a lovely experience. Plenty of good walks locally and Marlborough 15 min away which as a town is beautiful and you can spend a nice day shopping having lunch and having a beverage in any of the many public houses

Nipped into The Bell for lunch whilst in the area. It seemed a busy pub with a lot of locals in for food. I ordered the Fish and Chips but was pretty underwhelmed for £19 ! I wasn't sure if the 6 chips were for eating or there for an impromptu game of Jenga ! I'd use the pub again but give the food a miss.

Quite underwhelmed by our dinner at The Bell, we expected more for the price point and by the reviews (and the fact it was included in the Michelin guide). Don’t be wrong, if you’re looking for an average pub with decent food then this is perfect but our whole experience felt a bit rushed and the photos seemed quite misleading. As soon as we arrived the lady at the front desk greeted us by informing us we only have limited amount of time for our dinner; not something you want to hear when you want to have a nice, relaxed dinner. In my opinion this could have been handled better and communicated in a more polite way. The food was good but nothing special and the main seating room just felt like a big hall… quite an odd experience all round. Not a place we’d go back to ever.

We didn’t have dinner, I wouldn’t eat there again, it’s over priced and not good. This place has gone down so much it’s nothing like it used to be. The bar is sticky and dirty, tables the same with glasses left on them. Kids everywhere. If I’d booked in, I’d have walked out! Builders and their gang sloughing on the couch as if they were @ home. Decor is so outdated, hole in a seat covered with a throw, it’s a total disappointment. On cold nights one of the fires aren’t lit. The staff look miserable, it’s all gone wrong.

An enjoyable Sunday roast, however the service left a little to be desired. We’d booked a table for 12.00 noon and been informed it was needed again for another booking at 2.00 pm. One of our party of four passed comment on the interesting map on the table and we proceeded to get a 5 minute line by line explanation of the diagram - quite odd when two couples had only just arrived, not even said hello etc. The food was enjoyable, but not wanting a dessert, we opted for coffees. At 1.40 pm we were told the people having our table at 2.00 pm had arrived, and we were asked to leave the table. I had a pot of tea which was removed by a young water before I’d finished one cup. A second waitress commented she’d find us space in the bar, but people arriving early for a 2.00pm lunch should not have forced us out of the table.

Went to The Bell for an off the cuff meal. We entered the building via the patio door and could instantly smell the lovely aroma from the kitchen, I couldn't wait to start. We were a little early so went to the bar first. It was a little busy and a bar tender (called Craig) was running around serving everyone at speed, but with a smile on his face whilst chatting to what I assumed were locals which was great to see. We waited a while to be served, but the whole time we waited, another man (assumed to be the manager? Tall man) was stood at the end of the bar on a computer, chewing a pen!! He looked up, saw us, put his pen down, slowly walked to us and simply said "Yes" we ordered our drinks and he made them, the next and only words to come out of his mouth was "£12.40". He took our payment and said nothing else. We went over to the restaurant and were greeted by a very friendly tall girl (Black hair) who was clearly very busy, but took the time to greet us with a smile and showed us to our seats. We didn't have to wait long and our order was taken by the same lady, again with a smile. But at the same time she was rushing around other tables seeing to them. Maybe they were short staffed this evening? After a wonderful meal of Steak Frites and Fish and Chips with desserts, the restaurant was now a lot quieter. We settled our bill and headed to the car park, but I felt like I had a moment of deja vu, the barman was working away and the manager was still in the same position. If this man is the manager of The Bell, then he needs to realise when his staff need help or a little assistance will go a long way Overall, great food, great service, we will be back for sure.

Sat in pretty garden and had a lovely Sunday lunch but what I wanted to say is how very helpful the staff were when we had a terrible incident locking our dogs in the car. Somehow I left the key inside and the car locked itself it was a warm day and I was frantically worried about the two dogs. The manager was really calm and asked his staff to try and get into the car when that failed a waitress drove us home to get the spare key. Meanwhile they did all they can to cover and shield the car from the sun. Thankfully the dogs were ok when we returned. I will always be grateful to The Bell.

We stayed for one night at the Bell, pub/ hotel. We had booked the best room as it advertised a Super-king bed. £170 per night comfortable but too expensive for what it was Also no body mentions during the booking stage it is upstairs and I have difficulty with stairs. Cameron greeted us with a friendly greeting and did swap the room for a shower instead of a bath. Unfortunately the room was over the outside seating area and there was a noisy crowd with very loud voices. So don’t pick that room in the summer. We had booked in the restaurant for Dinner. I had the Ribeye Steak with a small side of chips and some green dressing. Steak was fatty and tough.Greens had too much dressing. £36:00 didn’t realise it cost that much. My husband had a Pizza £16:00. One beer £6:20 x 2 desserts £77:00 shocked when received the bill. Then in the morning thought breakfast was included but was only the continental breakfast. Bacon sandwich was a charge of £5:00 and was very fatty as well. Will not be returning. Nice place. Friendly staff but just too expensive.

I had eating lobster on my bucket list. What I got thanks to James Graham, Executive Chef at the Bell was an incredible experience of seafood heaven. It would not be hyperbole to say that each course on the tasting menu was a triumph of deliciousness. There was drama (the oyster in a sea mist), poetry (the Arpege Egg), music (Ceviche of Scallops). Every mouthful of every course was heaven. When we got to the Lobster I was overwhelmed- nothing prepared me for the flavours. It was an incredible evening of dining the like of which I have never experienced.

Set in the heart of the charming village of Ramsbury, The Bell provides a haven of quality in the midst of the delightful Wiltshire countryside. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in an extremely comfortable room. The en-suite bathroom was supplied with large, good quality towels and small luxuries. There was plenty of strong running hot water and a very effective shower. We enjoyed a copious breakfast in the very attractive wooden-floored dining and bar area - and a bar style lunch later was first class. The facilities for alfresco eating and drinking are very spacious with plenty of seating. The car park has a lot of room and is very easy to access. It really goes without saying that it is the staff who make or break a hotel or restaurant. The Bell team, adroitly led by Matt the Manager, could not have been friendlier or more efficient. We will certainly book again in the future.

After a whole year due to COVID we returned to the Bell. Our favourite meal Fish and Chips. Sadly its not as good as we remembered , the fish was very fresh but very over salted, the batter a little overcooked and dark. But we will be back.Chef, some friendly tips. don't bother to sprinkle salt over the battered fish there's salt and pepper on the table. To give the dish a chefy appeal, put your half lemons in muslin warps, and a couple of small sprigs of rosemary . It will not cost anything and you'll be surprised how it will lift the dish. Some good restaurants/pubs put baked cloves of garlic on the plate. See Porthminster Beach Cafe, St Ives, Cornwall.

We stayed at the Bell a few weeks ago with our dog and the service was incredible. The bar staff doted on us (and Otis, our cocker spaniel), they were so attentive and helpful it was no wonder we had such a great night. The room was lovely as well, it had a little space for Otis and a water bowl and bed for him in case we'd needed it! The bar food was also very good, and the atmosphere inside the pub was really warm and welcoming. In the morning they even went to the trouble of suggesting some local walking routes and printing out a map for us. They are taking covid precautions very seriously too which was comforting. A friend had recommended the food here and it did not disappoint, in fact it exceeded our expectations. Chef Sam Brennan had our tastebuds dancing all over the place with delight! We particularly enjoyed the scallops with makhani sauce & bbq'd fennel, a match made in heaven, the burrata with charred squash and the most amazing vinegar jelly which just sang out, and the Bbq'd monkfish with tandoori spiced carrots was cooked to perfection We tried the Ramsbury Gin before dinner which had an apple garnish, a delicious aperitif. The wine list had both classics and modern to choose from, we had a Chenin blanc from South Africa which paired well with both the spices and smokiness of our dishes. Our waitress Katie, was mentoring a new member of staff and still did a fabulous job of looking after us at the same time, no mean feat on a busy Friday night. The whole experience was thoroughly enjoyable and we will definitely be returning, although we might keep it a secret in case we can't get a table next time!

First visit to the Bell since pre lockdown days, and after 10 years of coming here and enjoying the lovely food and service I was looking forward to it like meeting an old friend! And yes...the welcome, great beers and menus are the same, albeit a slightly reduced variety menu which you might expect as a result of current conditions. But hold on....after having been seated in the restaurant, we are told that we cannot choose anything from the bar menu, just the 4 item restaurant menu! If we move to the bar, we can choose from the 3 item bar menu, but not the restaurant menu. Previously, you could mix and match so there was more variety. But now, due to ‘covid’, you can’t. How can this be....all the food comes from the same kitchen? At this point my ‘old friend’ began to lose her appeal. We decided to stay and eat in the restaurant (which was nice, if a tad expensive ) but I’m left with a feeling of frustration, and it seems that other reviewers have said the same on this site so it’s not just me being picky. So ...old friend...I don’t want to lose you, but unless things change I might be going to see other friends in the future. Which would be a real shame for something so simple to change back...

It was good to be back at The Bell - in a now abnormal world - to a warm welcome, cracking service, and a menu which stirs the imagination, and provokes the curiosity. A previous correspondent has whinged about there not being interchangeable menus between the bar and the restaurant - oh do come on, pedantry is no longer relevant in our changed world. Where The Bell scores 10/10 is for both chemistry and consistency. The chemistry is in the combinations that comprise the choice of four starters, fours mains and four puds, and you can pick any one of them - and be totally delighted. The consistency of culinary skills remains unchanged, and we had the best meal we have had in a very long time. Welcome back!

Unfortunately when we went there were only 3 options on the bar menu, after seeing different dishes online we found that the restaurant, approximately 6 meteres from where we were sitting, had a different menu. I fancied something from the bar menu and my friend from the restaurant menu, unfortunately we were told they were not able to accomodate that. So we decided to eat elsewhere, which is a real shame. Ordered a bouillabaisse which came as a simple bisque - surprising that a chef does not know the difference between a thick soup made with fish and shells etc but without fish and the former which is generally thiner and with pieces of fish. Roast Beef was good but pulled pork was definitely not. Too salty by far and replacement exactly the same. Waiter tried as hard as he could but disappointing that no-one from management or kitchen showed any interest or concern. Would recommend generally but don’t go for anything to do with pulled pork! It should be amazing. Lovely setting, nice welcoming decor, well presented serving staff. But you end up with a sub-standard, over-pretty plate of food on cold plates and with a hair in it. By the time you are served the veg on the cold plate is cold, and when you question the hair you get told that is is from the pulled pork (which was just a slop), the fact it was attached to the roast potato is neither here nor there. I felt sorry for the waiting staff who with their best intentions were unable to deal with a situation, delivering messages from the kitchen, no sign of front-of-house to,support them.

The Bell started doing Last Monday of the month curry nights but now called spice nights. Usually two meaty curry dishes and one vegetable dish with a few sides available. Whilst not very hot dishes very good tastes. I always carry my own small bottle of chilli sauce anyway. Four real ales on now from Ramsbury Brewery are good with some quite unusual tastes these days. Storm (hoppy) and Mango IPA are very nice!

Stopped here for lunch, lovely pub in a pretty village. The food was lovely and generous portions. Service was a little slow but didn’t spoil the lunch, maybe not one if in a hurry.

Visited for lunch and had a warm welcome from the team. Food was really enjoyable; very rich, so had to leave some. I had a lovely goats cheese and walnut starter with a butternut squash risotto for my main - see pics. My husband had quails egg to start, followed by a huge fish and chips main. I loved the Ramsbury gin - it was sublime. Only thing that was a little frustrating was the service was slow. We did have to go and find someone to ask for the bill. Apart from that, a really lovely visit. Would love to come back one day - although not very local to me living on the Wirral!

We booked late on a midweek, 2-night booking. Accomodation was a superior double, situated above the pub. Room was clean, tidy and well-decorated. Could probably have done with a bathtub but no complaints. We ate in the restaurant on the first night. Food was of a high standard and table service was unrushed and composed. Ingredients were locally sourced where possible, and delicious. Ramsbury is a quiet village in the Kennet valley, perfect for getting away from it all. We would stay here again.

We first visited for lunch whilst on a hike. Coffee shop a bonus as we could have a pint and then get a sandwich. Food was first class, service excellent and we ate in the delightful garden. Returned for Sunday lunch and had a superb meal. Again service excellent as was the food. My husband declared his Roast Beef to be the best he had ever eaten! Highly recommend and it is lovely to see this pub rejuvenated.

Popped in 2.30pm on a Sunday no booking and pleasant change asked the young barmen if we could eat and no problem and even made some recommendations then another chap said we could eat in the restaurant if we wanted and a tab was promptly set up and led to the table , next thing warm bread and butter arrived . Both opted for the roast , i had beef (rare and very testy) and the wife had chicken (very nice) loads of veg and good potatoes , very tasty gravy and overall a very good quality Sunday Roast even if a bit pricey but certainly worth the extra money. Paid our tab and quick chat with the barmen then off very happy.

Unfortunately the prices here are just not justified. £11 for a mackerel starter, and £25 for lamb? Not to mention £9 for a coke and a wine. Its a wonderful setting, in a beautiful village, and the beer garden is lovely place to enjoy a cold drink in the sun. I appreciate it has won awards in previous years, and any dining experience isnt just about costs, but there are other local pubs that offer better value.

This was my first visit to the Bell... it wont be my last. The food was incredible, beautifully presented, extremely high quality and made with the best ingredients - the chef, Oly Clarke, was accomodating, welcoming and a true professional. The waiting staff both in the evening and at breakfast the next day were polite, friendly and attentive to every detail. 5* review.

My partner and I went here for dinner to break up our drive to Gatwick from Cornwall, and it was absolutely worth the detour!! After hearing amazing things about the food and this gorgeous village pub, we had to go and check it out for ourselves.. we were certainly not disappointed. After a friendly welcome from the bar staff on entering, we were promptly sat in the lovely restaurant, by a very attentive waiter. The menu looked great, a lovely mix of seasonal dishes to choose from, we found it hard to pick, could have easily sampled the lot!! But the best was yet to come, the dessert.. the famous Bell Chocolate bar, their take on a Snickers, home made, coated in a rich ganache, this alone was worth the drive! We couldn’t fault our visit to The Bell, the staff, the premises, the incredible food, and delicious wine and gin.. all outstanding!! Can’t wait to return again very soon!!

I think that this is the first time that I have posted negative feedback on Trip Advisor for anywhere that I have been to, but after yet another experience of poor customer service at the Bell it seems necessary. I arrived in good time for breakfast at Cafe Bella this morning, having (I admit) had a pretty bad morning. There was quite a long queue as a party of walkers had just arrived for coffee. By the time that I had reached the counter it was 11am on the dot and the chef refused to serve breakfast (11am being the cut off). I wasn’t after a full English; just poached eggs on muffins. The cafe staff were very nice and very apologetic, as was the cafe manager. Apparently the chef would not be prevailed upon though, despite being told that I had been waiting for some time. Unfortunately I have had similar experiences at this cafe over the years. It always feels like everything is just too much trouble for them. It is a great shame as I live locally and would really like to come here more often. I just never feel welcome here.

I like to walk into a pub/resteraunt because it's as welcoming and well decorated as my home, and serves delicuos food otherwise there is no point. Some landlords make you feel as though they are doing you a favour. Get over yourselves! I drive one hour last night to Ramsbury for dinner. A really excellent evening, even though I sent back the main course of beef. Perfectly cooked but a little tough. Surprising but I had an immediate apology and It was quickly replaced with a delicous fish. This is an outstanding local. Clevery decorated, clean and well run. I have been there perhaps ten times over the last year and have walked away, every single time, with a big smile on my face. Please, please keep up the standards.

Disappointingly the pub does not match up to the attached cafe which I reviewed some time ago. The restaurant was empty at this lunchtime and no atmosphere at all. The food which we waited a long time for was mostly not very appetizing. My supposedly home made burger was large but dry and seemed like artificial meat? The bacon that was supposed to be with it and might have added some flavor was missing. We were with friends and it was inappropriate to make a fuss. It was especially disappointing as it did not live up to the good reviews on this website.

Popped in for coffee and cake on a chilly morning. We’d walked around the village looking for somewhere for coffee, and searched quickly online where it was suggested the pub didn’t open until noon. Luckily we found the door open and were directed to Cafe Bella at the back, where we enjoyed great coffee and luscious cake! Can we suggest a sign at the front of the pub, and perhaps a separate identity here on TripAdvisor would help to boost people’s awareness of your existence as a cafe?

Passed through late one afternoon on the way back to London. Although the cafe was closed they served us tea and cakes on the pub side. Everything was perfect. Staff were very kind and we sat on a large leather sofa by the log fire. It was so comfortable we didn’t want to leave. The pub seems to have been very well planned and decorated and we shall certainly return for a meal next time we are in the area.

Ok so Lynne and I are back at The New Inn with friends having yet another superb meal. We have now eaten here a few times and I feel I should commend the staff and the chef ( who we found out his name was Ronnie ) very nice touch when he comes out of the kitchen personally to ask if everything is ok. Once again superb service and our friends also commented on how lovely this superb pub/restaurant is. Even when we pop in for a snack Pizza that is just superb. Well done all at The New Inn. we certainly will be back and so will our friends. You guys deserve to do well as you always go the extra mile. Thank you, so refreshing in this day and age . We will be booking for a meal again l this Saturday night with some more friends. all the very best Ian & Lynne

The Bradley Hare is an elegant enterprise but tends to cater for diners and private parties rather than dog walkers looking for a pint and a sandwich; indeed the lunchtime snack menu is almost non existent. On occasions the bar closes completely to facilitate private functions. In short, the Bradley Hare is perhaps more of a "restaurant with rooms" rather than a traditional hostelry.
