Sunday lunch for 8 and we were very well looked after in a relaxed atmosphere. Flexible menu available; from full blown roast beef through to pizzas, very generous portions of tasty vegetables accompanied the roasts. Good desserts too, with a great 🇪🇸 twist on 🇮🇹 affogato ! Gluten free incl. coeliacs well looked after too… chips/roasts/gravy GF (yorkshires not)… pizzas could be made on GF base, and chocolate brownie, ice creams, GF as standard (rightly so). Smashing views of Thames and its flood plain from conservatory. Charming display of waxed up bottles at the bar!

Visited this pub yesterday for the first time after it was highly recommended though to our disappointment. On entry at the bar, two bar staff present, eye contact was made, we were not even acknowledged. Standing at the bar next to another customer who ordered two drinks, even he couldn’t believe how long it took and how disorganised the staff were. By that time one of the staff made eye contact again, no apology or just a moment I’ll be with you shortly…. Perhaps some customer service training for the staff ….. Needless to say we left very disappointed and I won’t recommend this pub.

One of the worst experiences I’ve had in a restaurant. We had a table pre-booked for 2.30 for Sunday lunch. We ordered drinks at the bar at 2.40 and enjoyed our drinks outside. We were told we could move inside if it was too cold outside and we did. We ordered more drinks at 3.04 and went on to place a food order, to be bluntly told ‘the kitchen closed at 3’. I imagine it was the general manager who went to check if the kitchen was still serving food, to be told ‘we aren’t serving mains or starters’. We explained that we arrived at 2.30 and were not told the kitchen closed at 3. I couldn’t fathom why we weren’t told this as they were given opportunities to let us know, only to be told ‘we can’t tell everyone everything’. Lack of communication is a huge red flag for this place. Will not be returning.

Went on Saturday which was same night as a birthday party, unfortunately for us as the staff were over run and service was awful. When our food arrived, we were asked whether we wanted condiments which we said yes to and was told we had to go pay extra for red sauce or mayo at the bar. Why did the staff not think to mention this on taking our order and why the young man delivering our order asked whether we wanted condiments is beyond me. Food is ok, over priced in my view. I've had same quality but for far less, elsewhere. The view is what I'm guessing keeps the prices up.

We stayed in The Shepherds Hut at The Red Lion for one night in March. The stay was incredible - everything was thought of, from hot water bottles and blankets to sit outside around the fire pit to amenities within the hut itself. We arrived at The Red Lion and couldn’t resist trying their freshly baked sausage rolls. Amazing! We then had dinner later that evening - again, incredible, and both agreed it was possibly the best meal we’ve ever had. The next morning we woke to the most delicious breakfast delivered in a hamper to our hut. Again, all freshly baked and prepared. Thank you so much to Mark and Carrie for the most relaxing, idyllic stay. We will be recommending The Sheperds Hut to everyone we know and we look forward to returning in the summer!

It was a wet, cold day when we called into the Red Lion for lunch, so we were very pleased to see a roaring log fire, and lovely comfy sofas to sit in. We were shown through to the dining room, and offered drinks and the menu. There was a good choice of freshly cooked food to choose from. My Lemon sole, with capers and butter sauce was absolutely delicious and my husband said his burger was very good too. We were pretty full by this time, but had just enough room left to try the almond flan and ice cream. The staff were very friendly and the service was good. I would highly recommend this cosy country pub.

We love the food and the decor in The Red Lion, it really has the bones of a good English Gastro Pub. Although the food is pricey you certainly get what you pay for in terms of quality and quantity! However the service we received on Saturday was shocking. We were left for 25 mins before our food order was taken, considering we had a toddler with us this was just not acceptable! This continued to be the theme for the entire lunch. Our plates were cleared but no offer of dessert menus and we had to ask for them. We were not checked on at any point during our meal, no offer of taking more drinks orders and had to ask a member of staff to take our dessert order and when I ordered a coffee with the desserts it was nowhere to be seen and I asked for it to be cancelled. I understand lunch times can be busy but by the time we had finished our mains there were only two other tables in the restaurant and although the two young staff were clearing down tables they were laughing and joking amongst each other and neglecting paying customers on multiple occasions. We have previously raved about The Red Lion and brought our friends here to celebrate a personal achievement and regrettably we left our lunch feeling rather sour at our experience.

We went here on the 19th of August 2023, having heard rave reviews about the pub. Disappointing doesn’t cover how we felt on arrival and departure. The staff were rude and inattentive, we were seated and then left for 15 minutes before my husband went to ask if someone was coming to take our drinks order. When someone did arrive she was rude and it took a further 5-10 minutes to get our drinks. The pub was not that busy, finally after asking again someone took our food order, the pizzas and lamb burger were very nice but the vegetarian cauliflower shawarma was overpriced for two small heads of cauliflower and some rocket at £18 this was extortionate. My husband booked this as a birthday meal for me and we paid and left as soon as we had finished our meal. On complaining to the staff about the service, no one taking our order and then plates being collected whilst members of our party were still eating, plates collected from the end of the table so we had to pass them down (there was plenty of room for the staff to move around our table), we were told they were short staffed. Being short staffed is not an excuse for poor, lazy and rude service. I wouldn’t recommend this establishment to anyone. Overpriced, untidy, rude and inattentive.

Just a suggestion: when you need to turn walk-ins away because the kitchen can't cope, do this as and when people arrive. Don't refuse to take orders from the people you've already sold drinks and given menus to. First time in all my life I've experienced this. We'd have happily waited an hour or more. Situation could've been handled so much better. :(

I cannot fault the food, the pizza and chips were lovely and I would happily visit the pub again... If the service improves. We waited 45 minutes for pizza and 30 minutes for a drink (which we asked for 3 times) I then waited 20 minutes for a hot drink to have with dessert, which never arrived and was still added to the bill. Now I don't mind tipping if the service warrants it, but a 12.5% gratuity was added on.... No thank you. All in all the food was nice, the views was nice and the pub was nice, but in this instance the service let it down.

Lovely pub with amazing views. Food was really great. Downside is that whilst there are a lot of staff, not that many seem to serve at the bar meaning you have to wait about 15 mins to get a drink. My recommendation to the owner would be to have more focus on people ordering at the bar, both for food and drinks and have less staff wandering around not doing anything in particular. This is the only thing that lets what could be a top class pub down, but unfortunately it's a rather large thing.

⭕️ Yes, I recommend it! It’s that kind of place which is very, very, very old and I’m saying that because the construction of the building, because of the design (the tables, the chairs, the fireplace) and the smell which you will feel it inside of the restaurant, the terrace. The food was very tasty, very fresh and if I’m not wrong, they are using local ingredients. The waiting time to be seated and to get the food was a bit long, the stuff was very polite and smiling all the time.

Nice place, cosy decor, varied menu, make sure you ask to be shown the specials board as it’s a bit hidden and staff won’t tell you about it, we only found out about after ordering and from over hearing other guests talk about it. Quality of the food was good, portion size decent although slightly disappointed that sea bass fillets (plural) was only one fillet. Prices for the dishes are reasonable though. The service team could be more helpful and attentive, showing guests to tables before being asked where the table is and just pointing around a corner, clearing tables of glasses and finished dishes is slow, and ensuring cutlery is replaced after clearing so guests are not sitting with food in front of them with no tools to eat with is a real pet peeve of mine. Would certainly try again though based on the what we had to eat, and hope this might just have been an off night service wise.

The decor and ambiance was perfect and we loved the roaring log fire at this Country pub. We had a range of tapas (bits and bobs) and can safely say that the crispy squid was just like we have when we go to the Canary Islands - just perfect and so tasty. The Garlic prawns and scallop dish was incredibly tasty too and the scallops were juicy and sweet. The owner chef has really gone out of his way to get top quality purchase and cook it to perfection. Really disappointed. We have been visiting The Red Lion since it opened a few years ago and have always been so impressed by the setting, service and menu. We visited again at the weekend and I was so shocked by the lack of atmosphere, the service was basic to poor, no check back, 20 mins for our first drinks, no second drinks offered. The menu selection was very limited. We ordered pizzas and the child's pizza was sthe same size as the main menu yet the price difference is £6+ these were for teenagers so should have been offered a child's menu? We assumed they wouldn't have been big enough, maybe that's our mistake. The food was well cooked and that is the only thing that stopped us from walking out. There was a service charge added to the bill which I normally wouldn't have sniffed at but for the service given I don't believe the tip was required. All in all a disappointing experience and we likely won't visit again.

Lovely looking place in a great location. Food was very nice, ( though they need to think carefully about descriptions of the dishes, as we were lucky finding an allergen in something we ordered that was definitely not listed and would have made one of our party ill ). However, the service was incredibly slow ( waited at least 40 mins for main courses after we had munched on olives and bread) and we had to keep getting up to ask for things ( like a knife and the bill). It was like waiting staff ( who were all v pleasant), forgot us or could no longer see us! Anyway, nice menu.

Food was good but not incredible given the price. Better options in the locale.

Staff fantastic. Very attentive. Location amazing. The food was so well presented, looked and tested wonderful. I would Recommend the scallops and prawns.

The Bradley Hare is an elegant enterprise but tends to cater for diners and private parties rather than dog walkers looking for a pint and a sandwich; indeed the lunchtime snack menu is almost non existent. On occasions the bar closes completely to facilitate private functions. In short, the Bradley Hare is perhaps more of a "restaurant with rooms" rather than a traditional hostelry.

Stopped on a trip from Cinderford to Romsey , have driven past many times but never had time to stop, husband and son had ‘small ‘ breakfast and I had toast and jam, the breakfast was a great size, quickly served and tasted great, really good value for money . Toilets and rest of premises are really clean and can’t wait to visit again

Popped into here on a recommendation while cycling. Lovely hidden spot with great cakes and coffee. Bike friendly with lots of bike parking, pumps and spare tubes. Would definitely recommend a stop here!

Ok so Lynne and I are back at The New Inn with friends having yet another superb meal. We have now eaten here a few times and I feel I should commend the staff and the chef ( who we found out his name was Ronnie ) very nice touch when he comes out of the kitchen personally to ask if everything is ok. Once again superb service and our friends also commented on how lovely this superb pub/restaurant is. Even when we pop in for a snack Pizza that is just superb. Well done all at The New Inn. we certainly will be back and so will our friends. You guys deserve to do well as you always go the extra mile. Thank you, so refreshing in this day and age . We will be booking for a meal again l this Saturday night with some more friends. all the very best Ian & Lynne
