Visiting the area.. didn't have a clue where go or how to get there. Phoned and spoke to James who was brilliant and gave us massive help with public transport. Food and service was fabulous. Steak pie and hotpot both great. Bus stop just outside to take us a mile back to the campsite.. would recommend. Fantastic hosting.

Came here for a birthday meal in a Saturday evening. Friendly welcome and food came out very quickly. Lovely range of options and the items we ordered were delicious. Would particularly recommend the Deep Fried Baby Sweetcorn with Salt and Chilli 🤤

We found this place by luck as we took a wrong turn! Had dinner and liked it so much we came back for dinner the following night. Great food with generous portions, very friendly and helpful staff, but not pushy. Good local beer and a nice atmosphere. Sensible prices and therefore very good value for money overall. We will definitely go there again when next in the Cheltenham area.

Not been here for a while so we decided to try our luck & Book a table Managed to get a early sitting at 1830 on a Friday evening upon entering we were greeted by Steve. And a very charming and knowledgeable man he is. in regards to the food he mentioned the 2 specials Brisket of Beef of which was slow cooker for 10 hours & Belly pork cooked the same time .so we opted for them and to my amazement they were Delicious comes with potato's & Veg .They also have a good Menu on offer .a limited stocked bar due to the pub sitting on the edge of the river severn the Cellar always get flooded so he has cast beers on the bar a a very good selection of Ciders in the bag-in-a-box plus the normal beers wins & spirits. Great food great atmosphere and very well.priced .

We visited the Queens Head Pub in Gloucester this evening for what was supposed to be a warm and memorable farewell party, but sadly, the experience left much to be desired. We had booked a table for 8 well in advance, but two additional people joined us last minute, something that’s not uncommon at gatherings. Instead of accommodating this small change with a bit of flexibility, the lady serving us acted more like a strict hostel warden than a friendly host. The attitude was brusque, unwelcoming and lacked hospitality completely. Rather than taking care of us with a smile, we were met with a sour expression and curt comments about our party size. While they arranged for a table for 10 after some discussion, soon it was announced that food choices were limited to mains only ( at 8 pm). No sides or starters were available, very strange and unlike other pubs in and around. Adding to this, when one of the friends picked a chips from another’s plate we were immediately told off saying food cannot be shared and an extra service charge will be added. Instead of helping us find a solution, made us feel like we were an inconvenience. The rudeness didn't stop there; throughout the evening, this person seemed impatient. It genuinely felt like we were being chastised for daring to enjoy ourselves. The food itself was average at best, but any enjoyment we might have had was completely overshadowed by the poor service. At a time when we wanted to celebrate and relax, we were made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. A little courtesy and flexibility go a long way in hospitality, and unfortunately, Queens Head seemed to lack both. If you're looking for a pub with a friendly atmosphere and accommodating staff, I’d recommend steering clear of this one. We left disappointed and regretting choosing this venue for such an important occasion.

Stayed overnight at the Premier Inn on a meal deal, which normally includes a full breakfast. Restaurant closed no official reason given. Whitbread really know how to upset both staff and customers. Closing a large number of Beefeater restaurants will deter many regular Premier Inn. customers. Only advice we can offer is Better get a Travel Lodge.

Saturday, 18th May 2024, 1 night. Due to refurbishment, restaurant was closed, so no evening meal or breakfast for us. The room was tidy, clean, and recently decorated. However, the bed was the most uncomfortable I've ever experienced. Although we were expecting a double, it was only 4ft wide and very short. The fitted bottom sheet was too small and kept riding up off the mattress corners. Definitely not worth the £75 per night we were charged.
