We found this place by luck as we took a wrong turn! Had dinner and liked it so much we came back for dinner the following night. Great food with generous portions, very friendly and helpful staff, but not pushy. Good local beer and a nice atmosphere. Sensible prices and therefore very good value for money overall. We will definitely go there again when next in the Cheltenham area.

Went here for Sunday roast today with our family, table of 9 of us and everyone was raving about how amazing their meals were! The portion sizes were great, lots of vegetables in side dishes and everyone had empty plates by the end and room for pudding. The servers were really polite and welcoming, one took a photo of us which was really nice too. Unfortunately we didn't get any photos of the food as we were enjoying ourselves too much but my husband particularly loved the sea bass and said he wished it didn't end. We both shared the sticky toffee pudding and espresso creme brulee and both of us thought they were delicious and couldn't pick our favourite. We don't review very often but felt compelled to write one as we had such a wonderful time, sat down at 4.30pm and left about 6.30pm

Met up with a friend for drinks and dinner and picked here as not been before and the bar is dog friendly. It is a lovely traditional style pub with a large outside seating area too. It was a Thursday and they have Pie and a pud for £18. I had beef and redwine pie and it was delicious! Big bits of beef in there too! With Sticky toffee pudding for pudding. My friend had Fish&Chips and Pavlova. Oh the pavlova was a real sugar sensation! The atmosphere was good and it was quite busy too which was lovely to see. We will be back. Thanks

My husband and I don’t often get the opportunity to eat out as a couple. Reserved a cosy table for 2 but on arrival we’re shown to the bar area where the table was next to people walking through and had little ambience. We asked if there was anything else available and were then shown to a lovely lake in the main restaurant (both areas were the same menu) We felt much happier until realising there were only a couple of specials left to choose from so went to the main menu where we struggled to decide as not a lot of choice. Good old fish and chips we had, which only had a tablespoon of mushy peas, chips that were thin and pointy, and a tiny piece of fish surrounded in batter. All for £18 each! When asked if the food was ok I commented that it was only ok but the waitress wasn’t even interested to hear why. A very disappointing meal and not good value at all ☹️

Really dry small portion for a £17.50 roast. We were one of the first in the pub so I thought we would get a really nice fresh pub roast and it was anything but that. The pork was dry and looked like the ends, I got 2 small pieces, burnt potatoes and runny tasteless gravy. I looked over at the other tables and it looked like everyone had a different sized portion. Very disappointing overall!!

Excellent food served with outstanding service - Fantastic Family Party Recently we had a large family party at the Gloucester Old Spot, with a mixed age group of 40 family members, celebrating twins 85th Birthday, where the Old Spot organised a set Sunday menu for us. The initial organisation and communication from Lucy was faultless and the venue was perfect. On the day we were concerned the kitchen wouldn’t manage with the size of our party and catering for their other customers, no need to worry, every meal was brought out perfectly cooked and plenty of it, all served together, with compliments from every member of our party. The Sticky Toffee Pudding is the best pudding you will ever have! Excellent food served with outstanding service. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! An absolute shambles. The service is ZERO STARS. Really rude front of house women. Firstly, we arrived half an hour early as my little daughter was hungry and we were made to feel unwanted from then onwards. I had my 1 year old with me whilst we were waiting for our table and we were told by front of house to wait outside even though the weather was really cold! We noticed others arriving who had the same booking time as us and were seated immediately. I had booked a table in the dining room but was given a table in the bar area. We were sat at the end in the corner with all the other tables around us empty made to feel unwanted and shoved in a corner. Waitress came to take our drinks order even though we hadn't even been given the drinks menu! We ordered our food and a few minutes later the waitress returned to say that the Specials was out of stock. Surely they should have known this in advance of me placing an order. It took over 15mins for our order to arrive and the vegetables were missing. I asked the waitress about the Veg and she wasn't sure if the Veg plate in the kitchen was ours. How can you not know if the Veg is included with a roast when you have been serving them all day! When I told them that the service was appalling - the waitress apparently went back upset and one of the front of house women came to our table to check if everything was okay. At this point I addressed all the problems and she was the kind of woman that you can't really speak to as she had an answer for everything and thought she was right for all my problems. Apparently we threw them off guard for arriving early!!!! What a joke!!!! Just don't go if you want miserable and rude service! And if you do go - DO NOT ARRIVE EARLY!!!!!!!!!

Had a bad experience lunch time today My food was very poor today the least . Fish mostly batter and hard greasy casing , pea purée hard and found absolutely no taste of mint. Must have got the dregs of the chip pan , think “triple cooked “ about summed up the gnarled bits and pieces I received .The four chips that were whole were nice though . I found a long hair in my tarter sauce . ……. A disaster of a main course . I saw other food coming out that looked nothing like mine ! Sticky toffee pudding was delicious but the minuscule pot of half filled watery white , supposed custard that came with it ( which I requested rather than ice cream as it was a chilly environment) was very unpleasant and I didn’t eat it . They took three pounds off the bill for the chips ……. However my lunch guest enjoyed her goats cheese tart . The staff were friendly and service was good though . Sadly I won’t be going back or recommending a visit .

The main course meals are very nice, we have been twice and both times our meals were nice. Desserts however we're poor on both counts, I had the sticky toffee pudding which tasted burnt. Then we had the donuts which were super dry and oily. I wouldn't let that put you off because the main courses were very high standards but strangely it's just the desserts that are poor. So I would recommend you try the started and mains and miss dessert. The staff are friendly. They have decent parking which there was always spaces. The inside looks nice. I hope they take this advise regarding desserts to improve because their chefs know how to cook great main courses. I have given 5 stars based on that

The food was out of this WORLD as well. Portion sizes are small (eat before or be prepared to order 2 or 3 courses) but the price you are paying includes an absolutely spectacular experience. The price of your dish doesn’t reflect the price of the food you’re paying for - it’s the preparation of the kitchen/restaurant/toilets, clean plates & glasses, EXCEPTIONAL service, a warm & cosy setting, accommodating establishment and smiling faces all round. Tip these guys - it’s worth your money.

Could do with a more interesting choice of ales hence 4 🌟. Seemed very popular with diners. One of two pubs in the UK - currently - under this name, I've now visited both and this is the better one for sure (other is on the outskirts of Bristol). Pub has plentiful parking at the back and nearby bus stops to/from Cheltenham and Tewkesbury. Best to visit as part of a local pub crawl encompassing also Clovelly & Hind brewery tap, 2 mins walk away, and Swan Inn about 20 mins walk (or use the bus).

Food is always excellent but I'm writing this review to say how fabulous to see, as usual at this time of year, the beautiful Christmas tree and decorative lights! It brings such joy every time I pass by and surely, the same feel-good factor for so many commuters using the Tewkesbury Road. Thank you so much Gloucester Old Spot.

Absolutely brilliant, warm welcome, affordable, unpretentious... how pubs should be done. Great cellar, good selection of sensible wines, ciders and perry. Food is wonderful with interesting specials. First class!

Amazing food. Would recommend the pie and try the sticky toffee pudding - it’s phenomenal! Second time and will be back again

fantastic food, good value for money considering the expertise of our 2 course meal. the specials board offers 2 courses at a very reasonable rate considering the quality of ingredients & talents of the chef. Great service from Maria

No food ordered so can't comment. Lovely local bar. The only decent place to go in Cleeve that's not a pub filled with pubgoers.
