This was the best roast dinner I have ever eaten in a restaurant. The food was such good quality and very good value for money. The atmosphere in the pub was warm and homely, very grand with the decor and candles. The service was on point, very quick and efficient. Big car park with lots of space. The outdoor area has Beautiful views of the country side and the facilities out there look amazing! Cant wait to visit again on a warm day.

The main course meals are very nice, we have been twice and both times our meals were nice. Desserts however we're poor on both counts, I had the sticky toffee pudding which tasted burnt. Then we had the donuts which were super dry and oily. I wouldn't let that put you off because the main courses were very high standards but strangely it's just the desserts that are poor. So I would recommend you try the started and mains and miss dessert. The staff are friendly. They have decent parking which there was always spaces. The inside looks nice. I hope they take this advise regarding desserts to improve because their chefs know how to cook great main courses. I have given 5 stars based on that

Superb! We visited as a party of 16 for lunch on Saturday and the service and attentiveness was second to none. All the waitresses/waiters were spot on: speedy service and smiley faces! The food was out of this WORLD as well. Portion sizes are small (eat before or be prepared to order 2 or 3 courses) but the price you are paying includes an absolutely spectacular experience. The price of your dish doesn’t reflect the price of the food you’re paying for - it’s the preparation of the kitchen/restaurant/toilets, clean plates & glasses, EXCEPTIONAL service, a warm & cosy setting, accommodating establishment and smiling faces all round. Tip these guys - it’s worth your money.

Brief visit on a pub crawl Sat 7th Jan, decent enough pub had half of Wye Valley Butty Bach and NightJar (keg), both were fine, service friendly enough if a little slow as ladies preparing coffees (a bit of a pet hate of mine). Could do with a more interesting choice of ales hence 4 🌟. Seemed very popular with diners. One of two pubs in the UK - currently - under this name, I've now visited both and this is the better one for sure (other is on the outskirts of Bristol). Pub has plentiful parking at the back and nearby bus stops to/from Cheltenham and Tewkesbury. Best to visit as part of a local pub crawl encompassing also Clovelly & Hind brewery tap, 2 mins walk away, and Swan Inn about 20 mins walk (or use the bus).

We love Sunday roast here but celebrated my birthday last Saturday and had a chance to try other dishes we hadn’t tried before. Limited choices on the main menu but don’t forget to look at the lovely specials on the board. Great quality of food with produce from local farms but also come with a price. For £19.50, I would expect two sea bass fillets. They compensated the dish with a crab meat and prawn spring roll cut into two pieces. Some may like it but if I wanted sea bass, I preferred 2 fillets than 1 with a spring roll. We had a dog with us, so always sat in the bar area. Staff ok, more like trainees in the bar area, probably more professional in the main dining room. 10% service charge we understood, not many people carry cash nowadays.

My wife and I had a great meal on a Tuesday evening, along with our dog who was made to feel very welcome and included in our experience of The Gloucester Olds Spot. We both ordered the same, unintentionally, but it worked out ideal as one would have been envious of the other if they’d had something different - beef bao buns to start were great with a rich flavour and the sweetcorn & chilli to cut through. Followed then by the beef curry & coconut rice - really indulgent and incredibly generous serving and fall-apart-tender beef. The owner was warm and engaging all evening the staff friendly & efficient. We’ll back for breakfast on race week!

Very disappointed with the meal we had last night for the prices they charge. I had the beef tikka curry, it was a bowl of greasy tasteless beef, really not nice. My husband had the pie which had an over cooked crust but the filling was tasty. Cheesecake dessert however, was very nice. Followed by luke warm lattes which we had to send back as the sugar cubes wouldn’t dissolve in them! Sadly we also felt really rushed all evening! We were out with friends for a long overdue catch up and really felt that the staff were rushing us to order and then repeatedly telling us when last orders was and when they were shutting so we felt we needed to leave! 10pm on a Saturday night……really! Disappointing for the price. The prices simply do not match the food, starters were £8/£9 and were decent but still pub style starters. Mains were not great, and for example we ordered a burger in our group, it was £17 and was just wildly overpriced, overcooked and just served with standard fries. Service was fine and as expected in a pub with very friendly staff, but we were slightly surprised with an automatic 10% service charge at such a venue. There are much better pub restaurants in the area for food. This is a great place for a drink outside though. Friends had mentioned this pub had decreased in quality food-wise in recent years and the reputation was decreasing, but we decided to go anyway and later agreed with them. Hopefully the owners will listen to feedback and re-think their offering food-wise.

Stayed one night as it’s in the Brit Stop guide for camping. They don’t charges as there are no specific amenities - all they ask is that you consider eating in the pub. Absolutely! Everything is locally-sourced and everything we chose was wonderful. I had the beef shin and red wine pie while my husband had the stuffed aubergines. The presentation was beautiful and the taste matched. There was also enough to fill us up to the point where we swerved dessert (unheard of for me… my husband was concerned about my welfare). Staff were friendly and welcoming and the drinks were spot on. I even had a glass of the local apple juice which was heaven. The price for mains (£18+) might seem above average but it matched the quality of the food and, when you consider the camping was free, I consider it an absolute steal. We will be back :)

Good food, good staff, good service - a very nice place. On a trip from Cornwall to Scotland in our Motorhome, we found that the Gloucester Old Spot allowed you to book a space in the car park for an overnight stay, on the understanding that you would eat/drink there. No problem. It is well located near to the motorway, and service stations, but still remote enough to feel rural. We arrived in afternoon and parked up, then went for a drink and checked our dinner reservation time. The staff were helpful and pleasant, and the bar offered a good range of real ales on draught. Later, we went for dinner and were surprised by the banquet hall type dining room, which was lovely. The food selection was good, and the quality was excellent. The member of staff that served us was very informative about the wine selection and we were not disappointed by the Primitivo that we chose which was also good value. At the end of the meal, the quality of this, slightly humble-looking, establishment really showed itself - we ordered two Americano coffees. One of these was to be black and one to be with milk. You don't often see the level of detail that I am about to explain to you, and it's a real show of great staff and establishment. The coffees arrived, both cups had black coffee, and a small jug of milk, but the server asked who the black coffee was for. Why? The black coffee drinkers cup was slightly fuller than the cup for the white coffee drinker, therefore allowing space for the milk to be added. It may sound like a small thing, but that, my friends, is top quality attention to detail, and the staff should know that it has not gone unnoticed. Top marks. The whole meal was great, but that coffee moment really ended it perfectly. Also worthy of note is how well explained the bill is, with it's optional service charge. Some establishments may try to sneak this past you, but not here. It is very clearly explained on the printed bill, and highlighted again by the server as being purely optional. We were happy to pay it, since the whole team had created a great experience during our stay. And, the Gloucester Old Spot information also explains that the tips go quickly to their members of the team - there are good morals and practices on show here. Very well done. There is a lovely large beer garden here too, with covered areas also. Be sure to phone ahead to ask about campervan / motorhome parking overnight to ensure that they have space. We will be back. Highly recommended.

Overnight stop in campervan. Welcoming staff. Great outdoor seating and lovely beers/cider. Didn't have anything to eat but nice menu and food looked great. Lovely clean toilets.

A Great place to pop in for a lunchtime snack especially as they allow dogs. Great outside spaces and zones. Good food, and served by lovely staff. Hubby and I generally visit on a lunchtime and seat ourselves outside.

A great country pub with an excellent choice of food and drinks. The pub doesn't look like much from the front but go behind, and there is a beautiful beer garden with fantastic views of the countryside. The staff are super friendly and pleased to help. Well worth a visit.

I absolutely love the staff and atmosphere here and my meat eating external family all LOVE the menu so we keep coming back when they visit. I personally hope they expand their vegetarian menu a bit I don't want a nutroast or souffle everywhere I go. Also, why isn't there a children's menu at all anymore? We would definitely frequent more often if you offered a simple pasta or some chips or veggies and nuggets as an easy option for families. It does feel a tad intentional. My children (3 and 1) loved their lunch but it would have been nice to eat mine hot..rather than have to cut up a roast for two young toddlers 😅
