Brilliant location right on the banks of the Avon! Lovely friendly and welcoming staff who take the time to stop and chat with the customers. Good choice of food available for the sweet or savoury tooth, with hot and cold drinks to wash it down! Great for sitting and watching the boats sailing up and down the Avon!

Stopped for a snack... i had ice cream ...was ok....friends chose a cream tea...£5.95 with tea....£6.95 with coffee....go figure?? Was really awful...tea in a paper cup....1 scone with rock hard butter pat, preserved cream in a plastic sealed tub and same with jam....all plonked on a disposable tray with a disposable wooden knife.....absolutely no finesse in presentation at all....costs nothing to get those elements right..... beautiful spot.....but really not worth wasting your money here....so many beautiful spots along the river where the effort is made to make for a much nicer experience....

This is an absolute hidden gem. All the tables overlook the river Avon. It’s just perfect. My friend and I don’t normally stop for coffee when we’re out , but couldn’t resist this cafe. I can’t praise it enough. It’s probably the only cafe in Tewkesbury next to the river. It’s a bit a little bit off the High Street, so follow the signs. Head towards the abbey. You won’t be disappointed. Whilst we didn’t try the food , the menu has plenty of choice for lunch. I’d go there again tomorrow if I had time. Try it …….l

I visited today and the location was absolutely stunning especially in this glorious weather but my 1 star review is solely for who I am guessing is the owner and if i could leave zero stars i would. I witnessed a young man arrive with a delivery for the cafe from a food supplier (the temperature was around 24° and I'm guessing this driver had been out in this heat all day) The man who I assume is the owner was absolutely disgusting. To hear him being so rude so obviously was embarrassing not just for the customers including myself but the delivery driver (Who may I add was nothing but polite and apologetic to myself and others) I have never felt so uncomfortable and for this reason I will never return here and I will advise my friends and family to do the same. How you can be in the food industry and not appreciate how hard others are working so your business can survive will always baffle me. Tapping your watch and telling the driver he needs to do better. In my opinion it is you who needs to do better.

A very disappointing sandwich . Possibly the worst I've ever had. Enough to prompt me to leave a review when I've never done one before. No butter. Hardly any filling so the baguette was very dry. Nacos were acceptable but don't have a baguette. Not worth £30 for 4 of us to have a snack. We didn't bother trying the cake. The saving grace was the lovely location by the river. Maybe that's why they get away with the poor food.

I’m a returning customer and I can confidently say that the Riverside Cafe is a local gem! The coffee and the food is well prepared. The venue has fantastic panoramic views of the river and local walks are nearby. There’s comfortable seating outside and the venue is well positioned to catch the sun, with parasols in place to provide shade (if required). The proprietor raises money for charity by playing the guitar at the weekends and this adds to the splendid and calming atmosphere. All in all, each visit has always been as good as the last.

A lovely spot, right next to the river, I think that was the best bit. We had two baguettes and two drinks and I think the cost was about £17. Now, don't get me wrong, I know it's small, I don't mind disposable paper cups or the bamboo leaf plates, but surely you can do better. I'm not after the Ritz, but maybe some garnish and a few crisps to make the baguettes look a little more presentable and maybe worth the cost. I've been to lots of cafes that have simple premises, with small facilities, but they do tend to make a bit of an effort.

We visited today, firstly there is no toilets. You are directed to weatherspoons for facilities. The menu seem fair for a small establishment. However despite a conversation with the employee about whether she had the ingredients to make a hotdog she failed to put it on the order - ok a genuine mistake - but this made me question the prices as I had believed I paid for the hotdog. £2.00 for a packet of crisps!!! £4.50 for a slice of cake. £3.50 for coffee that was weak and served in paper cups! The employees were very quick to tell me they don’t set the prices and that I could take the managers details - despite being bored due to lack of customers they were doing their job. Advice to anyone visiting- lovely view but incredibly overpriced and almost below average quality.

We called in here for baguettes at about 3pm. The bread was floppy, stodgy and verging on stale. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that if it was yesterday's bread. The quality of the ham wasn't great either, and I didn't like the taste of the margarine. I fed much of mine to the mallards and gulls, it seemed better than wasting it, although ducks shouldn't really be given white bread. It's a pleasant location, and the staff were friendly, but Greggs do a much, much, better baguette (and I only use Greggs when there isn't a better alternative!). I have been shopping at Teddington Stores for close to seven years. The butchers(especially Richard) are very helpful although the hygiene is questionable. No washing of bare hands between handling meats, no use of disposable gloves whatsoever. Last week the senior butcher went to the external fridge bare handed and brought in a joint and presented it without washing his hands or putting on gloves. The Saturday girls are exemplary, the older staff, one in particular, are abrupt, and can be extremely rude and has a propensity to handle the open display of sweet pastries with no regard to hygiene. This display, close to the toilets and front door, is not covered nor has a sneeze screen to it and is at an ideal height for children to handle(witnessed). I have taken to having a coffee and cake after shopping but, since finding a Victoria sponge for sale with mould on it, have refrained. I am sure the cake covers don't comply with EHO standards! Surely these cakes should be kept in a cool environment with a sneeze screen. I have recently discovered out of date produce for sale(coleslaw two days over). I called this to the attention of one of the staff and was greeted by "What do you want!" I mentioned that this was an EHO breach and needs to be removed. I was given a look of incredulity as if to say "So what". She reluctantly removed the item. It is a pity that such a wonderful shop is being let down by lax hygiene and staff/public interactions! Perhaps familiarity does breed contempt, but I feel that, due to my recent observations, I have no alternative but to look elsewhere for my shopping experience. It’s disappointing that the owner is unable to reply

We found this place by luck as we took a wrong turn! Had dinner and liked it so much we came back for dinner the following night. Great food with generous portions, very friendly and helpful staff, but not pushy. Good local beer and a nice atmosphere. Sensible prices and therefore very good value for money overall. We will definitely go there again when next in the Cheltenham area.

No food ordered so can't comment. Lovely local bar. The only decent place to go in Cleeve that's not a pub filled with pubgoers.
