Not been here for a while so we decided to try our luck & Book a table Managed to get a early sitting at 1830 on a Friday evening upon entering we were greeted by Steve. And a very charming and knowledgeable man he is. in regards to the food he mentioned the 2 specials Brisket of Beef of which was slow cooker for 10 hours & Belly pork cooked the same time .so we opted for them and to my amazement they were Delicious comes with potato's & Veg .They also have a good Menu on offer .a limited stocked bar due to the pub sitting on the edge of the river severn the Cellar always get flooded so he has cast beers on the bar a a very good selection of Ciders in the bag-in-a-box plus the normal beers wins & spirits. Great food great atmosphere and very well.priced .

Pint of Cotswold Beer: The pint of beer was refreshing and well-poured, with a crisp, clean taste. It had a balanced bitterness with subtle malty notes that made it highly enjoyable. Perfect for a casual drink or to complement a hearty meal, this beer delivered on both flavor and satisfaction, leaving a pleasant aftertaste that lingered just long enough. Sunday Roast Beef and Pork with Wine: The Sunday roast beef and pork were a delightful experience. The meats were tender and well-seasoned, with the beef offering a rich, savory flavor and the pork being juicy and succulent. Accompanied by perfectly roasted vegetables and a generous pour of red wine, the meal was a harmonious blend of tastes. The wine's depth and smooth finish complemented the robust flavors of the roast, making for a satisfying and memorable Sunday meal.

The Coalhouse is an absolute gem of a pub, right by the river Severn with a lovely beer garden. The food and real ale/cider is top quality, a warm welcome is offered to all who happen to wander in, and nothing is too much trouble. Its the perfect place to spent quality time with family and friends, and it really is excellent value. Please support this pub, they were flooded 9 times during the last Winter but they still open back up every year. I'd forgotten what a wonderful place this is, and will be going back very soon.

Lunches available Tues-Sun 12noon to 2.30pm at this lovely old pub with a warm welcome every time. We visited twice during our holiday. Firstly by chance on Sunday as we walked the footpath alongside the River Severn. The very tasty beef roast served with yorkshire puds, roast potatoes, and a generous selection of vegetables with the tastiest thick gravy, and bottles of cider too - easier to keep with longer shelf life in these times of austerity 👍 Our second lunch visit was planned as we returned from the Haw Bridge walking along the picturesque footpath. We very much enjoyed thickly sliced ham, eggs and chips with salad, and tuna mayonnaise baguette with chips and salad - and more cider 😋

This place is certainly well hidden, down a no-through road from Apperley, and no obvious signs to get you there. At the end of the track you get to a caravan park and you can also make out the river Severn. We went on a sunny Saturday lunchtime and everyone was sat outside in the garden. There were 4 tables of people and so the landlady was rushed off her feet so service took a while. No draught beer so it was a selection of bottles to choose from and the baguettes were perhaps a little pricey but obviously fresh and tasty too. Entertainment, apart from the landlady, came in the form of the many animals (ducks, chickens, doves, etc.) in the farmyard plus the shetland pony with the sharp teeth (or at least that's what it said on the sign). Certainly a quiet spot and enjoyable to sit in the sunny garden but a bit of a trek just for bottled beer.

We have visited this pub several times pre pandemic and found it excellent. However our visit tonight was not so good. Nobody was at the bar so we had to wait for 10 minutes before anyone turned up to serve us. All the draught beers and ciders were unavailable so we had to have bottled beer. I asked for Bulmers but was served Magners. We sat in the garden which seemed to be inhabited by screaming kids and their screaming parents. It was not a pleasant experience. I appreciate that thengs can go wrong but we were given no explanation why there were no draught beers.

Went here last Friday lunchtime and I can honestly say the pub was like something that time forgot! The garden was covered in bird feathers and everything was just very grubby but what surprised me the most was there were no food menus just a blackboard, however no prices. We ordered 2 baguettes and 2 lime and sodas it wasn’t until I checked my online banking that I realised we’d been charged £26 which in my opinion was well over the top for what we received.

Enjoyed a lovely pint of Orchard Pig cider sat outside this pub with my walking group today. This is a lovely riverside pub and the staff there are really friendly. The pub is situated in an ideal location for those walking along the Severn Way between Gloucester and Tewkesbury (or vice versa). It gets very busy there, perhaps partly due to the caravan site nearby. If you wish to eat there on a Sunday I would recommend booking in advance as they can sometimes be fully booked. If ever I am doing a short walk around Tewkesbury, Deerhurst and Apperley again I know where to come back to and will try their food next time. There are also some good old fashioned adverts on the walls inside the pub which remind me of historic places I have visited and the Severn Valley Railway.

So, after a busy week at work, I decided to take the family out for something to eat. Looking at Trip Advisor I decided to give The Coal House Inn a try, as it came highly recommended. As it turned out it was one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time. We turned up out the blue and asked if it was possible to feed the four of us? Steve, the landlord, was happy to accommodate us so we were in. 4 drinks ordered, then the tough decision about what to choose. The menu was small, but full of wonderful things to choose from. The kids were a little fussy, but each found something they’d enjoy. When Steve came to take the order he advised us that the portions were large and he wasn’t joking. The food arrived and each dish was indeed large, but cooked to perfection. All cooked from scratch it was one of the best meals I’d had in along time. The bill wasn’t astronomical either, four meals including drinks for less than £65 was amazing. We will definitely be returning to this little gem of a place again, hopefully very soon.

Starters were ok; not too large- mushrooms, chicken wings, sharing board and dips. Main courses; very tasty and filling! Steak on plate- awesome; beef brisket special- delicious & scampi and chips tasty! Steve Kay, host, was welcoming, informative and personable. Well worth a visit 😃

Had a lovely meal here for Mother's Day, with my son, daughter and son in law. It is a modern restaurant with a modern ambience.

We came here with 4 adults and 4 children early on a Friday night. Despite being a few minutes late we received a warm welcome. The menu has quite a lot of variety, the atmosphere was relaxed, the portion sizes were generous and the food was delicious. Steve was very friendly and genuine. I can see why people rate this pub so highly. I would like to go back for a Sunday roast.

The food is amazing and you do not get better quality elsewhere, amazing generous portion sizes too. Steve is a great character and delightful.

We visit the coal house once a week during the season (Steve closes for part of the winter so check the web site). The food is consistently excellent but if you are not a big eater ask for a small portion.

Travelling to South Wales, and not in a rush, decided to take a scenic route rather than the hustle and bustle of the motorway. Knowing we wanted to stop off somewhere around Gloucester for Sunday lunch, the Coal House Inn looked very promising, given the reviews on TripAdvisor: we were not disappointed!

Definitely a hidden gem, which ticks ALL the boxes. Set by the stunning River Severn with miniature Shetland pony Dodger, fluffy chickens, ducks and doves, this is an idyllic setting for Sunday lunch or dinner. Landlord Steve is a joy, so friendly and helpful and waitress a real sweetheart going out of her way to be extra helpful. Recommended brisket which was melt in the mouth with sweet potato fries and Mediterranean vegetables. What a wonderful way to spend a sunny Friday evening in June. Thanks Steve, I'll certainly be returns but this time I will remember to book! Such a popular place. 10/10!

Found the Old Elm via the Good Beer Guide and rang them to confirm a slot for Sunday lunch. Not a problem with booking and they are also dog friendly too. We tried the Wye Valley HPA when we arrived it was in perfect condition. We had pre ordered our meat choices when we rang and our dinners came in around 10 mins. The food was excellent we had beef and lamb and there was loads together with loads of fresh veg. It was all round superb and great value. We finished off with a couple of puddings that were too superb. We will definitely return and highly recommend.

Booked in for a large family celebration. We had a section of the restaurant to ourselves which was perfect considering the amount of children in our party. All team were happy & helpful. Exceptional customer service, could not be Faulted! Special thanks to Jamie & George for all their help throughout the night with George kindly taking a Family picture for us before we left. Massive Thank you to the Kitchen team for cooking all 23 meals to perfection! All food arrived in a timely mannor, presented well and most importantly Hot and delicious. Highly recommended expessically for large parties. We did provide a Pre order due to us being such a large party, this made the process quick and stress free on the night. We all had a lovely evening and will definitely visit again!
