New Dawn Inn in Tewkesbury

Visiting the area.. didn't have a clue where go or how to get there. Phoned and spoke to James who was brilliant and gave us massive help with public transport. Food and service was fabulous. Steak pie and hotpot both great. Bus stop just outside to take us a mile back to the campsite.. would recommend. Fantastic hosting.

We went for a meal as family. We were served by Chyanne. At the beginning she was very accommodating and came back to check to see if all was ok with our starters etc. however, when we finished our mains, she asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. When we picked our dessert we also asked for tea and coffee to which she rolled her eyes and when we asked what the matter was, she claimed she was tired and had hoped to have left by that time as she was in that evening. We had the desserts but no tea or coffee. We also noted that when she approached to put new cutlery down, she would cut in between two people and make my mum jump. Without notifying us of what she was doing. When we asked for the bill, she then added the tea and coffee to it. We challenged this and she did take it off but we were absolutely appalled by the attitude she showed us. We have normally received such wonderful service here and today we left unhappy.

A wonderful meal. Couldn’t fault a thing. Well presented, cooked to perfection, really tasty. Staff were amazing too, very friendly, great service too. Can’t wait to come back again soon.

Sunday lunch was so delicious. We were looked after so well food was quick vegetables cooked to perfection. We had our grandchildren with us and they were so looked after too by staff we absolutely loved the atmosphere .Jamie so welcoming he even Walked out with an unbrella to keep our little one dry will visit again soon. Excellent food, excellent service and excellent value for money. My father has dementia and the young dark haired waitress was amazing with him. A very warm welcome on both times we have eaten there. Will definitely be going again

Cannot fault this restaurant. We attended for an 85th birthday yesterday and the food was fantastic. What’s more the staff couldn’t do enough for us. So glad we chose to come to you and we will be back.

Lovely restaurant which serves a range of home made meals. Great price too and good sized portions. Large car park and within easy reach of Gloucester and Cheltenham. Highly recommend.

Went with friends for their Set Menu Monday Offer. 1 Course £15. 2 Courses £20 incl choice of a drink. The menu choice was very good. I had the faggots, which were very tasty. All of my friends agreed it was a delicious meal and fantastic value for money. The service was friendly and efficient. Will definitely return. Thank you New Dawn.

Wow. What a welcome!! Was staying in a hotel just over a mile away, heard good things about this place so needed to see for myself. I wasn’t disappointed. We were met with open arms by staff and locals alike. The food was ace and they sell the most wonderful artwork. When we asked for a taxi back to our hotel, the manager wouldn’t hear of it and insisted on driving us back himself free of charge!! Don’t get any better. A most visit.

Both our main course and dessert were delicious. Possibly the best pub food I've ever had. The service was excellent and the staff very welcoming and friendly.

We booked this for my parents celebrating 50 year anniversary, there were 12 of us including 2 children. We knew as soon as walked in and greeted by the amazing staff we had made the right choice! This is fast becoming My new favourite place to visit. The staff are super helpful and friendly. The food is excellent and should definitely be visited for this alone. But there’s more! The Wednesday night quizzes are great fun and always something for everyone each week, including little spot prizes. Jamie puts a lot of effort in to make it enjoyable for all. And, I’ve just come from a crackers comedy night. Just brilliant all four acts had us in stitches as did the compare. Can’t fault it.

Pleasant enough surroundings and staff but the Sunday lunch was very disappointing. Overcooked meat, bland vegetables and poor gravy. Under seasoned, poorly presented and had a canteen quality about it. I really did not enjoy this lunch. And will not be going back.

The minute we walked through the door we had a relaxed , lovely welcome from staff there. The waitresses were polite and friendly. The service ran smoothly with no delays. Food was exceptional, not one fault about Any of our meals. One person was Gluten Free but she was so happy with the variety of food choices there was on offer, this was a bonus. We visit her a couple of times a year and it hasn't failed us once. Hats off to the Chef!

Called in on Friday evening approx 7.00pm as we have not been in for a couple of years and was shocked to be plagued by kids running around totally out of control. We used to love going to the New Dawn for a child free environment why is it that parents just do not seem to be able to control children?. I have 2 children now grown up but they never behaved like I witnessed here. The table next to us I think of 6 were moaning about the kids as well and I do not blame them. The food we found to be overpriced for what we got, and it is a shame that we will not rush back until they sort out prices and a children policy.

We arrived at 7.35pm on a Friday eve we ordered our meals at 7.45 our meals were delivered at 8.20pm one of our party ordered a vegetarian meal and was delivered a beef lasagne as a vegetarian mousaka! Waitress just said “oh sorry my bad!” 3 of the meals were obviously microwaved and then put under the grill, the presentation was extremely poor-as was the service! we were not asked if we wanted more drinks or a desert. we asked for the bill and it was paid and we left by 8:50 not at anytime did a member of staff ask us if everything was ok! Charged £86 for a very substandard meal for four people. Very disappointed as we have had good meals there in the past.

Would highly recommend, we went here for Christmas day dinner and this was by far the best Christmas Dinner out we've had. Staff and Owners went above about beyond for all 13 of us everyone said it was well worth the price and will be back again next year. Merry Christmas

Came today for Christmas Day lunch and I have to say (and I’ve been to a few so something to base judgement on) it has been the best Christmas lunch we have ever had. No complaints heard from the table and no request was too much for staff, including a good supply of ice! Everything was so easy and calm from moment of booking until finishing the meal. The food was absolutely top notch, portion sizes were immense! Will most certainly be back again and will guide anyone looking for a fab family pub to this amazing establishment. P.s. those who had the parsnip soup were blown away, even wanting the recipe!

Yesterday we had our family Christmas meal and for a change to give me a break we booked the New Dawn. We were so incredibly disappointed as there was not an option to have Christmas dinner as apparently you have to book in advance. Nothing on the booking or reminder said this and so we were stuck with the regular menu which does not have any roast on it. The food is normally very good but this was such a fail and I had to apologise and take the blame but how would I know this?! I am told it was on social media but I don’t follow that. It should have been on n the booking confirmation as that is where someone will take notice but nothing said anywhere on the booking or reminder. One huge disappointing experience that will not be repeated but I hope someone reads this and doesn’t end up in the same situation because someone has let them know. I am a regular and have been for at least five years and have always recommended it.

Impressive pub, well furnished, friendly staff, impeccably clean, good menu choices reasonable priced. Went with friends and had pre booked the Festive Menu, we were not disappointed, the food arrived quick, lovely cold starter and main meal came well proportioned on hot plates with all the trimmings, crackers on the table … what was not to like…. thank you New Dawn Inn and all the staff who made us feel very welcome.

On arrival at the restaurant we were warmly welcomed and, as a group of 6, shown to an 8 seater table in a cosy part of the room. The menu was varied and satisfied all our varied tastes. The service was good, we were offered drinks which arrived promptly and order taken and food served in good time. There was a lovely atmosphere in the room. The staff obviously went out of their to help celebrate the birthday of a diner on the next table. The desserts were to die for. After coffee we were grateful to have been warned about the sudden drop in temperature outside as the possibility of ice on the roads.

A group of us were there for a Christmas meal, and it was great! The booking process was very straightforward, and so was all the communication before we arrived. Our meals all came out together, with special attention to the coeliac members of our group, all delicious and well-presented. The service was excellent and we had a great time. Several members of the group are now planning to come back with friends and family. Thank you for all your hard work, and your careful attention to all our needs.

An fabulous meal. We had the Solstice menu (for over 65s). At £20 for two courses and a drink it was excellent value for money. But there was no scrimping on portion size. A big shout out to the manager who was both attentive and entertaining. We were a party of four and we had a great night out. We would definitely recommend eating here.

Kudos to Jamie and his exceptional team! Our recent experience at the New Dawn Inn was truly remarkable. It marked our inaugural visit, and it left us utterly impressed. Despite having a sizable party and the restaurant buzzing with the celebrations of at least two other birthday groups, the service was impeccable. Our dishes arrived steaming hot and bursting with flavor, accompanied by outstanding service. Jamie orchestrated a heartwarming moment by bringing together all the birthday parties for a collective "happy birthday," which nearly lifted the roof off with our enthusiasm. The birthday boy's Baby Guinness shot was a hit and even prompted a spontaneous Mexican wave of shots downed around the entire table. Jamie and his dedicated team went the extra mile to make us feel welcomed and ensured that everyone had a fantastic time. Congratulations to all for making our visit truly memorable!

Eighteen of our family dined here for my son’s 21st birthday on Saturday night. It was fantastic from the minute we arrived until we left at 11.00pm. We had pre ordered our meals and the team were so accommodating to our needs. Drinks on arrival was slick, the table looked great, the food was absolutely delicious and the little extras made all the difference. The manager brought my son a baby Guinness shot for him to down, which then ended up being many more getting consumed. They were so helpful with our birthday cake and helped box up the leftover cake when we left. I had travelled up from Devon for this meal, and I will not hesitate to visit again when I’m next in the area visiting family. Well done and thank you for looking after all of us.
