Stayed overnight at the Premier Inn on a meal deal, which normally includes a full breakfast. Restaurant closed no official reason given. Whitbread really know how to upset both staff and customers. Closing a large number of Beefeater restaurants will deter many regular Premier Inn. customers. Only advice we can offer is Better get a Travel Lodge.

I usually find English breakfast buffets disappointing as the food is either not quite hot enough or too dried out especially fried eggs. However, today my wife and I had breakfast there and it was one of the best buffet breakfasts I have eaten. Carl, the chef, did an excellent job. The food was tasty, hot and the fried eggs were cooked to order. I only normally get such a good breakfast at a conventional B&B, when it’s cooked to order. Well done.

Despite knowing this place is closing as a Beefeater in about a month, which would naturally effect their morale, none of them showed this at all. You'd never know there was anything going on until I asked how they were coping ( I'm a regular visitor to this Beefeater.) The one at the Quays we stopped going to along time ago as it was so poor for food. This one had been our preferred since then. I'm gutted this one is going. All the staff were lovely, this time included. The food was gorgeous and my specified amount of cooking that I wanted my gammon was spot on, no problem at all. Caitlan ( I hope I got that right, lol) and Bethany were fabulous, so pleasant and welcoming. Compliments to the chef too. Absolute gutting shame to loose this Beefeater and the Absolute fabulous staff. Still won't be going to the Quays unless they can sort themselves out! They need Kate Illiffe back there to turn it around again lol.

What used to be an enjoyable experience has turned into an unpleasant morning. Staff are lazy and provide the minimum amount of food, a vast difference from the buffet style of old. You now need to request each item and need to wait a disproportionate amount of time to be served, used to love it but not anymore

So myself and 3 colleagues were staying at the Premier Inn next door for work. Breakfast was brilliant, however the service at dinner was abysmal. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated, and were waiting just the same to be able to order. It wasn't that busy, we saw staff just walking around, ignoring us. I don't normally complain about service, but having done this exact job, in a beefeater, I know how it should be done, and how it shouldn't. The waitresses just ignore you half the time, and we just got more irritated. The food was lovely and I have no complaints about it at all. It was only the service that was lacking, multiple nights of dining there left me more irritated and disappointed.

We booked into the premiere inn because of it partnership with Beefeater restaurants. We booked a table for 5pm and had a drink in the bar before hand but when we wanted to take our table we were told they weren't ready? Eventually we were seated and the meal, chicken burger and fish and chips were good. Off we went into town to watch the rugby game. Arrived back at the Beefeater precisely at 10pm and was told the bar was closed? We listened and walked away even though they were letting people they knew into the bar. I checked the opening and closing times on the website and saw it was advertised as closing at 11pm. I went back to the bar and was rudely told the bar was closed yet the same person was serving drinks to some who just walked in. I asked to speak to the manager and was told to leave again I asked and was told the managers name was on the side of the bar? I looked and saw insurance notices but could not see any names? Again I was told to leave. From earlier I got a feeling of the staff when two members were complaining to customers saying that if they wanted a drink to order before 5pm because they were finishing and the bar would be closed as the evening staff had not arrived. I accept that getting staff is difficult but why take out on travelling visitors clearly these staff only look after their own.

Well what can I say about this place other than rubbish, they obviously don't know what succulent and juicy means when comes to steak, it was chewy, asked for M/W and came and bleeding they cooked the same steak and it was burnt, the service is slow, and the waitress when something wasn't right just sighed, it definitely is the last resort if looking for good food... As I said to waitress you get better food at McDonald's, Definitely wouldn't recommend or go back.. Well went back here as invited by family 08/04/2024 and will say the staff were definitely more friendly and welcoming. Food nice size and alot better than last time we went. Visited Easter Sunday for my partners 70th Birthday. Party of 6 adults and a 6yr old child. Table booked. Our meals took best part of an hour to start arriving I had lamb rump roast which I had to return as the lump of fat that was served was totally unacceptable!! The waitress apologised with the explanation that the kitchen had run out of the lamb and offered a beef replacement which was fine. My partners meal wasn't upto it's usual standard but as it was her birthday she hadn't wished to complain. We will use Beefeater at Longford again as it is our local. Hopefully a better experience next time.

Went to the Longford Inn for a Sunday lunch. They now sell Strongbow instead of Thatchers & Stowfords. Strongbow is cheap & rancid. I ordered a 7 once gammon steak that came with literally 12 chips, a few peas an egg & slice of pineapple. The food was cooked nicely & tasted okay - albeit the gammon being too salty. But for almost £13 it was a complete & utter rip-off. I felt more hungry leaving there than before I entered the place. Never again.

Been coming to the Longford for a while but the last 2 visits haven't been the greatest. The staff work hard to ensure it's all stocked up constantly which is great however the management (well the woman we presume is the manager) needs to learn some customer service. One visit we said how the apple juice was very watery and she replied "no it's not, there's nothing wrong with it" without even trying it. Then as we arrived today , we hadn't booked and her response to the member of staff that served us was "make sure you save spaces for people that actually book" .... Now granted we hadn't booked but the way she said it was clearly a dig at us and also made the waitress seem like she didn't know what she was doing when we have seen her there many times and provides good customer service. Usually when we arrive at the table , your asked how many eggs etc.... we've not had that the last 2 times and have had to order them directly with the chef ... Which hasn't been an issue and the chef is more than happy to do so but then means your waiting longer. We have visited the old nelson beefeater in Stroud on many occasions and the customer service is far superior and you never seem like a problem to be served which is how they make you feel at the Longford. Unfortunately I think today was our last visit as if I'm paying to eat somewhere then I want to at least feel welcome.

So you can imagine my surprise at being greeted and made to feel like our party mattered and was welcome. All smiles, the manager/hostess found us a table and then our waitress repeated the same pleasant, smiling service. Service was a little slow, the food wasn't perfect, but it was tasty and well presented. Our waitress went the extra mile to make it a nice experience especially making an extra effort for our daughter. All in all, we had a thoroughly lovely evening and the best dining experience in Gloucester/Cheltenham that we've had in a brief visit back to the UK. Staff a bit surly. Bar personnel not on duty, no coffee as 1 staff member cleaning dining room coffee machine before it was open and ignoring coffee requirements of customers already in the other bar area. Car park a mess.....don't forget to book in your car. Disappointing.

I had a fantastic time at the Longford Inn for my partner's birthday. They gave us a free bottle of proseco to celebrate and lovely note to go with. The staff were so attentive and went the extra mile. The food was also lovely and there were a few veggie options too. I look forward to going back there and definitely recommend.

Had the gammon which was okay but it came with egg and pineapple, you would have had a job to slice the pineapple any thinner and the egg was hard.

Booked a table for 8 well in advance. Were asked to pre-order because of the table size. Arrived on Friday night in plenty of time for the booking and were rushed to the table with the manager asking if she could start serving starters. We asked if we could order drinks first because we were not in a rush having all travelled 100+ miles and had arrived before the booked time. The manager said that they had another large table booked (clearly taking priority) and encouraged us to start eating!! Starters arrived which were good. Then mains arrived very quickly afterwards, including two plain cod dishes which had not been ordered and weren’t on the menu. The manager returned to the kitchen to be told by the chefs that they were a replacement for fish stew which had not been delivered by the suppliers (so not made on premises). She admitted that she did not know fish stew was unavailable, bizarre given she is the manager and what she said later!! Neither of the two people who had ordered the now unavailable fish stew wanted a piece of cod and had to re-order whilst the remaining six started eating the main courses. Surely, we should have been told when we all sat down that two choices were unavailable and given the opportunity to order another main course at the start of the meal so that all mains arrived together?? We assumed (foolishly) that the two replacement main courses (steak and risotto) would be given priority because the other six main courses had been served. Twenty-five minutes later nothing had arrived and the manager had avoided any form of contact and issued no apology, in fact was chatting happily in the kitchen. One of our party entered the kitchen to cancel the order because the rest of the table had now finished. The manager told him to be patient because it takes at least 25 minutes to cook a steak, which was definitely disputed - more like 4 minutes! Risotto takes several hours to prepare so was presumably ready and bubbling away in a pan!!!! We asked the manager why we had not been contacted about supply problems prior to our arrival or at least asked to re-select when we first arrived, she then said that she had tried to contact us which was a major contradiction (in view of her previous comments) and definitely not the case. Given the nods of support from other diners this was pointed out to her by one of our party who was then asked to leave. The rest of us followed suit although agreed to pay for drinks, not the food (which was indifferent at best). The restaurant lost several hundred pounds because of this incident which could have been avoided with a more proactive management stance. On a more positive note, we all went to No5 restaurant on the Saturday night had a wonderful time and enjoyed some exquisite food. Top Tip spend your money at No 5 a couple of doors down North Street.

How the heck can they say that it's the "Home of the roast". I think Britons were enjoying roast lunches long before Toby existed. Been here many times and would describe the food as passable but not great. Visited late in the afternoon. Was difficult to get served - no-one at the food counter and required 3 requests by waiting staff for someone to come and carve the meat. The food was barely warm and a strange taste pervaded all the items which left me feeling nauseous. Potatoes were leathery and extremely difficult to cut. Maybe this was something to do with going later in the day?

I'm normally too full to have a sweet so loved the offer of 2 half courses for £8.99. Staff were friendly and helpful. Place was clean. Food was delicious. Plenty of parking.

Character pub well supported by locals with cosy fire burning in typical old English pub surroundings. We felt very welcome as we looked forward to our Sunday lunch. Apparently they have only been serving Sunday lunch for a few week and for sure they have it right. Tender pink roast beef served with parsnips, carrots, cabbage, roast potatoes and a good sized Yorkshire pudding. A further side dish to share with cauliflower cheese, red cabbage and swede. All very tasty. It’s not a huge pub, a number of folk were disappointed and had to return later with a booking, but well worth it. Surely one of the best Sunday Roasts in Tewkesbury.
