Andy, the carver and chef did an amazing job on a very busy day. Real nice bloke. Management need to think about easing up on the amount of people waiting in the queue on special deal days, if nothing else to give the chef a bit of respite. Coffee didn't taste like Lavazza, but generally an enjoyable Carvery. Well done Andy👍

Had hair in my food que very long

Order incorrect again, we ordered a carvery for one with no stuffing and gravy, we got stuffing and no gravy. Not good when you're ordering for an elderly relative who isn't eating very well. Food always nice but sadly rarely correct lately.

Always a good meal and staff always helpful. As with all carvery places the meat is cut and served to you and the rest is self service, as much or as little as your tum can manage, and if you want seconds of everything except meat, just go back for more. Well recommended 👌 👏 👍

The male chef serving the carvery was most unhelpful and unfriendly. The Yorkshire puddings were flat and clearly covered in oil. There were only a few in the bottom of the bowl so I asked for some fresh ones and he told me they were the freshest. He made no attempt to help I used napkins to mop up the grease in it

Very small portion, half a tub of gravy. Meat given was very fatty, usually had good takeaways but this was poor.

The food goes cold too quickly, not enough meat given on plates, I don't think we will go back for a meal. However, The staff seem friendly enough.

I recently had the pleasure of eating at Toby Carvery Highnam and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The food was delicious! The dessert menu was equally impressive and I couldn't resist trying the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and cheesecake. It was the perfect sweet ending to an already fantastic meal.

From the moment I arrived, Cam’s friendly and welcoming demeanor set the tone for the evening. He was attentive, professional, and made sure every detail was taken care of. Adam was equally fantastic, ensuring that everything ran smoothly and checking in regularly to make sure I was happy with my meal. The food, as always, was top-notch, thanks to Adam for making the tasty meal, but it was the outstanding service from Cam that really made the visit special. It’s clear that he take great pride in his role, and it shows. I highly recommend Toby Carvery not just for the delicious meals but also for the fantastic staff like Cam and Adam who make the experience unforgettable. I’ll definitely be back soon!

Lovely staff, good service, good choice of food.

In general the food was ok but the vegetables weren’t as hot as I’d have liked them to be. In particular the cauliflower cheese was cold and there was very little cheese on the cauliflower. We were sat at a table for 4 next to the front door and as the pub doesn’t have a two door entry system, every time someone walked in or out we were blasted by a strong draft of cold air and were made very uncomfortable. I would suggest that placing dining tables here in the winter is not a clever thing to do. The table of 6 next to us also suffered from this and one of them was an elderly lady in a wheelchair and she had to keep her coat and hat and gloves on all the time.

First time at a Toby Carvery in a long time and it was 1st class. We were greeted, seated and served our drinks really quickly. Staff were great, attentive, really helpful, and friendly. Food was fantastic, fresh, hot, plentiful and great quality. Would definitely recommend

Great food, prices, and serving times.

Not enough staff to deal with people when they arrive. All the Baby high chairs were very dirty we had to clean it before using it. Food was good 👍

Food was rather underwhelming. Meats were tough and tasted like they’d be left out a while. Everyone at my table found the beef inedible. Mac n cheese was basically just pasta, carrots, and potato’s were hard as well as the parsnips and peas being dry. Not enjoyable at all. Service was friendly, but atmosphere wasn’t great as I can’t imagine many people enjoyed their food that night. WiFi is also super hard to connect to. If possible I always pick brockworth Toby carvery over this one.

Had Stacey serve me and my friends when we popped in for a carvery and she made the visit absolutely amazing! She was always there when we needed something and was very efficient with service. It was a really nice all round experience. 10/10 from Stacey!! Raffle number 295

Went here recently for a Christmas family get together, the kids chicken nuggets were not cooked properly and the pigs in blankets in a bowl on the side felt like they literally just came out of the fridge. When my wife complained the chef got lairy with her and gave her a barrell load of bad attitude. When speaking to the manager about it just after who seemed to be a young girl her attitude was not much better, she was even stood there rolling her eyes whilst my wife was telling her about the chef's attitude. She eventually said she would remove the chicken nuggets from the bill but didn't. In fact we realised after we left that we were actually over charged! We won't be going there again.

Breakfast was slightly warm but was dry and greasy. Table booked for three and all three wished they’d gone elsewhere!

The meal was satisfactory. The stand-out was the service. Our server, Kirsty B, was very attentive, polite and had some banter with everyone.

Great food as usual with very little wait at the carvery deck. Service from Kirsty B was awesome - very friendly and helpful.

What an unexpected addition to our family birthday visit. Kirsty.B... what an absolute gem. Whilst we are used to good food, and a nice venue in the Toby at Highnam.... tonight's meal was a total blast, Kirsty B was professional, diligent and so funny... the whole family really enjoyed her relaxed and personable style. As ever the food was excellent, but the service was off the chart exceptional. Thanks so much Kirsty B, we had a cracking evening.

Starter was dry ham what ever it was Christmas dinner was lovely and the pudding was nasty wasn't worth the money the 60 odd pound won't be doing that again

Why did it take you so long to assign me a driver . Driver was lovely btw . Also the food wasn’t very hot it’s now in the oven .. the portions were very small to and it was chucked together

Had the best roast today, the festive menu is out and they had beef dripping roasties, they are to die for, they were just melt in your mouth, lots of meat and great choice of veg. Very reasonably priced. Thank you

The food is plentiful, well cooked and presented.

Three of us went in for carvery and unfortunately we found it to be a disgusting spread. The meat was okay. Roast potatoes were hard and leathery. Cauliflower was tasteless, carrots were hard, vegetables were very chewy. The actual layout of the vegetables was a mess. The carver was not in attendance for a couple of minutes. Then there seems to be a change of shift so a few more minutes was wasted. So, by the time we got back to our table, food was cold and had to rely on the gravy to warm it up. So, generally it was a disgusting experience. Will not be recommending this place to anyone.

Breakfast was brilliant. Plenty to choose from and cooked lovely. The staff were very kind and caring. Everything was exceptional.

Just ordered the take away carvery for £32 with the pigs in blankets carvery and cake and custard . For starters NO pigs in blankets in either food. Roast potatoes burnt we could crack them . Food cold we only live 4 minute drive . We go here loads and have to admitbthis is the worst we have had not like them at all . Hopefully can be better next time . I would normally call or email but no answer and no email . So had to do on here.

AVOID!!!!! Stick to carvery - menu is shocking! Waited for stone cold dry food! Wouldn't feed it to my dog. Staff are too use to self service that your meal will be forgotten about & left under the lamp until it’s a solid lump! AVOID AVOID AVOID

Lovely place for a lovely birthday carvery. All the food was hot, freshly made & tasty. The service was excellent and all in all we couldn't fault it.

Nice helpful staff and a nice quite corner I sat in with my friends the meal was tasty epically the beef and gammon the veg was well cooked and tasty but the the whole meal could / should of been much hotter as the meat and veg was just warm, the plate was cold which did not help keep the food hot. other wise the evening was very enjoyable 9 out of 10

It is good food and alright in terms of vaule but unfortunately the service is terrible, waited a while at the Carvey to be served, a number of staff walked past and didn't acknowledge us and our server looked like they hated life 😢 We ate and left a little deflated, didn't like it enough to return. There's nothing really more to say.

A good visit for my husband and I. Dean was very attentive, polite but not intrusive - everything I could ask for from a sever. The food was well cooked, the beef was fatty but tasty, good selection of veg. For a busy Toby, they did really well at keeping ontop of cleanliness and service.

The carrot and cauliflower were not cooked so we could not cut into it, It was as it hadn't been cook in water

very delicious breakfast at a very reasonable price (below £8), service was quick and therefore the pub deserves this rating, two other points can also be made a. the place looks and feels rustic which was perfect for the autumn storms i was in so it felt very cosy because of that b. everything was very easy to find and wasn’t a complete maze like other places can be overall, good job

Really great food, big portion and at £12.99 cannot complain. Baby bowl (which was big enough for my two and a half year old) was 99p!!!

Our server Dean was very busy but his service was great. The restaurant was busy as it was peak Sunday grub time so we queued at the carvery for a while but all staff were lovely and friendly, and everything we wanted was available and very nice.

As a vegan I would like to highlight the fact that vegan carvery is very doable, and at a great price. You have a few options, main courses and veg or just a giant vegetable carvery only. Either way you will be full to the brim. The staff especially 1 certain waiter is fantastic and very helpful. I was and still am pleasantly surprised. Thank you to Toby Carvery

It is my friends Mervyns birthday and we went to Gloucester Cavery ,it's my first time at any Carvery, we were served by Stacey, and Tilly, they were extremely kind and helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone.

It was early evening and there were lots of children. There should be a separate area for children.

We arrived a little early for the booking but the lady who was at the desk very kindly fitted us in when we arrived. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. Food was lovely except for the mash potato was a bit lumpy otherwise a lovely lunch experience.

Food was good. Queuing for food was poorly thought out with customer's in the queue blocking a thoroughfare.

The service was particularly poor today, our original server didn't ask if our food was ok and then when we wanted to pay we couldn't find any staff to ask for the bill. The food was good but how the kitchen staff can let all 4 gravy pots go empty is beyond me. Even when a server went and asked, it took a more experienced server to go in about 5 minutes later and get the gravy pots.

I ordered the food at 15:36 for 17:00, this came well over an hour late. Also one of the carvery’s was missing the pork. Awful service!!!

How the heck can they say that it's the "Home of the roast". I think Britons were enjoying roast lunches long before Toby existed. Been here many times and would describe the food as passable but not great. Visited late in the afternoon. Was difficult to get served - no-one at the food counter and required 3 requests by waiting staff for someone to come and carve the meat. The food was barely warm and a strange taste pervaded all the items which left me feeling nauseous. Potatoes were leathery and extremely difficult to cut. Maybe this was something to do with going later in the day?

We come here often and have never had any issues with the staff but was left very disappointed with the customer service from the young woman at the till for breakfast. Have not seen her in there before so not sure if she is new but she definitely does not have a friendly attitude!

Over half the restaurant was empty from the time we arrived to the time we left yet we were told there wasn’t availability. Tried to raise an issue with whom I assume to be a member of management but she walked off mid conversation. Think the goats from the farm next door could give better customer service.

Happy environment. Easy eating. Are always pleased with the food, service and atmosphere. Very reasonable prices as well.

Driver struggled to find me also when i got the food it was just mash potatos and peas not one roast potato was expecting what was on the image but didnt get what was advertised

Ordered carvery 20.10.24, for selected time with Uber,order was half an hour late and cold . Roast potatoes were burnt, inedible, had mashed potato despite me requesting not to . Driver did not ask me for confirmation number . Total disappointment. Don’t normally use Uber and will never again . No updates to why late . No apology . Would not recommend. Normally am very happy with Highnam, but not on this occasion. I tried to ring to complain , phone went unanswered.
