Character pub well supported by locals with cosy fire burning in typical old English pub surroundings. We felt very welcome as we looked forward to our Sunday lunch. Apparently they have only been serving Sunday lunch for a few week and for sure they have it right. Tender pink roast beef served with parsnips, carrots, cabbage, roast potatoes and a good sized Yorkshire pudding. A further side dish to share with cauliflower cheese, red cabbage and swede. All very tasty. It’s not a huge pub, a number of folk were disappointed and had to return later with a booking, but well worth it. Surely one of the best Sunday Roasts in Tewkesbury.

Absolutely the best roast dinner in Tewkesbury, local meat from butcher and health portion sizes. Service is friendly and nothing is too much trouble and priced really well. Just what Tewkesbury needed! Best to book as it fills fast! Home made horseradish sauce, fresh veg and none overcooked!

We came today for a Sunday lunch and it was hands down the best roast dinner we’ve ever had despite trying most of the places in and around Tewkesbury! Don't waste your time, first thing that hits you is strange smell as you walk in some kind of air freshner that's so over powering it makes you feel sick and then to make u feel even worse is the rip off price, £11.00 for two pints of average beer, probably tourist price, stay clear and go elsewhere.

No atmosphere miserable staff and crap beer. Visited a couple weeks back on a Saturday and although I don’t like Wadworth beers I had a pint of Theakestons Old Peculiar which was quite acceptable. Nice homely pub and lady behind bar was friendly. Returned again midweek and I was the only one in there the guy behind the bar made no attempt to speak and the Theakstons was off so needless to say we won’t be returning.

Visited this place as part of a pub tour around Tewkesbury, and I must say, the Berkeley Arms is probably my favourite out of all those visited. It has a very chilled out aesthetic, not very loud, and very pleasant décor. Drinks served are great, and the staff are friendly. The pub is also very traditional, and feels very medieval-esque and I think is one of the best examples of Tewkesbury/English culture.

Brilliant pub! We came in halfway through a Halloween Quiz Night so it was a bit strange walking into silence and puzzled faces mid question 😆 not to mention some customers dressed up for Halloween 🎃 It soon became apparent we were very welcome and before long we were sharing drinks tips with, it turned out, the landlord. I had some delicious salted caramel rum, rhubarb mead, andTewkesbury Gin and my husband has proper beer 🍺 We were soon joining in the quiz with two blokes at the bar - everyone was incredibly friendly. Our dog was treated to dog biscuits especially by the Silver Nomad who once owned a Welsh Terrier and then the landlady bought Ruby the little Frenchie (dog) down to meet Gwen. The building dates back to 1467 and the tree ring dating is 1331! Such atmosphere - loved it down the little alley down the side too. Don't miss the alley! We just had to go back the next evening and would love to return again. There's a Christmas Quiz next - if you get chance go. Thanks for making our Tewkesbury Trip so memorable.

Attended on a Saturday evening and within a short period of time discovered that any one from outside Tewkesbury was not really welcome. Bar staff, where particularly un-welcoming, which for bar staff been friendly should be number one focus. This could be described as a typical village local pub going back many years, where locals are welcome, and tourists if they do enter, are made aware they shouldn't be there.

Booked a table for 8 well in advance. Were asked to pre-order because of the table size. Arrived on Friday night in plenty of time for the booking and were rushed to the table with the manager asking if she could start serving starters. We asked if we could order drinks first because we were not in a rush having all travelled 100+ miles and had arrived before the booked time. The manager said that they had another large table booked (clearly taking priority) and encouraged us to start eating!! Starters arrived which were good. Then mains arrived very quickly afterwards, including two plain cod dishes which had not been ordered and weren’t on the menu. The manager returned to the kitchen to be told by the chefs that they were a replacement for fish stew which had not been delivered by the suppliers (so not made on premises). She admitted that she did not know fish stew was unavailable, bizarre given she is the manager and what she said later!! Neither of the two people who had ordered the now unavailable fish stew wanted a piece of cod and had to re-order whilst the remaining six started eating the main courses. Surely, we should have been told when we all sat down that two choices were unavailable and given the opportunity to order another main course at the start of the meal so that all mains arrived together?? We assumed (foolishly) that the two replacement main courses (steak and risotto) would be given priority because the other six main courses had been served. Twenty-five minutes later nothing had arrived and the manager had avoided any form of contact and issued no apology, in fact was chatting happily in the kitchen. One of our party entered the kitchen to cancel the order because the rest of the table had now finished. The manager told him to be patient because it takes at least 25 minutes to cook a steak, which was definitely disputed - more like 4 minutes! Risotto takes several hours to prepare so was presumably ready and bubbling away in a pan!!!! We asked the manager why we had not been contacted about supply problems prior to our arrival or at least asked to re-select when we first arrived, she then said that she had tried to contact us which was a major contradiction (in view of her previous comments) and definitely not the case. Given the nods of support from other diners this was pointed out to her by one of our party who was then asked to leave. The rest of us followed suit although agreed to pay for drinks, not the food (which was indifferent at best). The restaurant lost several hundred pounds because of this incident which could have been avoided with a more proactive management stance. On a more positive note, we all went to No5 restaurant on the Saturday night had a wonderful time and enjoyed some exquisite food. Top Tip spend your money at No 5 a couple of doors down North Street.

How the heck can they say that it's the "Home of the roast". I think Britons were enjoying roast lunches long before Toby existed. Been here many times and would describe the food as passable but not great. Visited late in the afternoon. Was difficult to get served - no-one at the food counter and required 3 requests by waiting staff for someone to come and carve the meat. The food was barely warm and a strange taste pervaded all the items which left me feeling nauseous. Potatoes were leathery and extremely difficult to cut. Maybe this was something to do with going later in the day?
