The best restaurants serving Default food in North Dorset South West

Food was cold when arrived we were in the garden but did not expect to be cold Had the Shaftesbury burger not very appealing when cold

Perfect Sunday roast! 7 of us had lunch and we all agreed that the fontmell is back to being one of the best pubs for miles around. The food and the service are excellent, and the walk from the village over fontmell down is a perfect way to work up an appetite.

Very disappointed, we knew it closed at 4 pm we were held up in traffic also three way traffic lights outside the restaurant but arrived at 3.45, then just to be told they had closed, we asked if they could possibly make us tea the young girl was gone for a good while then came back and said no, why does it say 4 pm close ? She said we could get a takeaway in the shop perfect we thought again just to be told they had turned and cleaned the machine, most unfriendly unhelpful staff, we will not make the trip out again. Can’t comment on the food as we couldn’t get any. Bring back some proper old fashion service please.

Very disappointed. I had looked at the menu before going there and nothing that I wanted was available. Won’t be going again.

Faultless lunch. Good friendly service, we were looked after all the way. Easy free parking (register at the bar on arrival). We ate inside but lots of people outside on a lovely sunny day, spacious area.

Picked up this evening, king Prawn curry and prawn fried rice usually very good but tonight it was as too salty Could have been much better , wasn’t a curry really , just a gravy consistency

Visiting the town for a day and wanted a picnic lunch. Had a Wiltshire ham sandwich and a chocolate and hazelnut brownie. All very tasty prepared with quality ingredients. Highly recommended.

Six of us had lunch here. The food was good but they struggled to cope with a group of six people; three of us got our food promptly, then there was a long wait before two more were served, and the last poor soul had to wait even longer for his toastie while people who had come in and ordered after us got theirs. We didn't expect all six orders to arrive at the same time, but for one person not to be fed till some of their companions had long finished their food wasn't good. When the food did arrive it was tasty, hot and filling so we were happy with that. Best to come here in smaller numbers, methinks.

Had the souvlaki kebab. Very tasty

Malc and Carol are extremely personable and greet all their regular customers by name. The interior surroundings plus an outside area with sun awning are pleasant and uplifting. Along with the excellent food and variety of choices including so many types of homemade cakes, it is no wonder that they have such a large loyal customer base. As far as I'm concerned the coffee is the best in town. Highly recommended.

We were so pleased to discover this eatery. The service was so welcoming and the food was outstanding. All home cooked. The Steak and ale pie was the best my wife has tasted. The Katsu curry was absolutely delicious. Many thanks

Nice pub. Nice staff. But shame some customers think it's OK to vape at the bar.. has put me off. Havnt stayed si cant comment on rooms.

Sadly the food tasted odd...not sure if it's the oil used or something in the batter. My daughter got sausages and chips and I got 2 lots of cod and chips, so between us it cost over £30 and it's gone out to the birds. Good size portions, cooked well but can't put my finger on where the problem lies. Not had this problem before and was really looking forward to not cooking tea so am very disappointed.

Not a very good fish and chip shop batter always taste burnt and full of oil and batter always over cooked

We used this shop twice during our stay in town and the service on both occasions was excellent. Excellent tea and coffee with a choice of roasts. A credit to this small town.
