The best restaurants serving Default food in Wokingham South East

If you want tapas in a relaxed atmosphere then this place is ok but it is a bit average. The menu looks better on paper than it tastes. Some of the dishes would benefit from adding something - salt, pepper, chilli, paprika, garlic - all things I’d associate with Spanish tapas but that were a bit lacking. We had the pardon peppers (good), chorizo in cider (tasty), patatas in blue cheese (probably our favourite dish of the night), meatballs (very bland tomato sauce, odd inclusion of peas), squid (well cooked but bland, would have been great with some chilli oil and garlic), prawns (garlic not infused, bland) and tortilla (was bland, like a homemade omelette with no seasoning). Apart from the food service was friendly and efficient. The staff were keen to go home early though I think. Starting packing up at 9.30pm on a Friday night whilst customers were still eating, which is a bit of an atmosphere killer.

The food and drink were incredible but the best part of our experience was our waitress Liv - she was chatty, attentive and welcoming. We will return just for her service

My wife and I had an absolutely superb evening at the Dog and Duck in Wokingham. A clean, tidy, warm and very hospitable atmosphere. All of the food was yummy scrumpy delicious and the staff very attentive and friendly. Given the very high standards all round, and its central location in Wokingham, I can’t believe the excellent value for money. We will definitely be going back again and again… why wouldn’t you!

I have been to this restaurant about 4 times before and have enjoyed their lunches and dinners. Great in summer to sit outside and have a white wine which enjoying some sun. Also really nice inside for cosy dinners -big shout out to Daniel for great service and made us feel welcome. Hosted my friend's surprise birthday party in the last visit- the food was good and the service was excellent. Big shout to Renata who made sure we were taken care of.

I have been eating in this restaurant for more than 20 years and every meal is absolutely fantastic, and the staff are so friendly and helpful.

By far the best food in Wokingjam always a great curry

We are regular visitors here and the food is amazing every time. The staff are always attentive and helpful and service is always quick.

Stayed here years ago so new of it The room we had was drab and could have done with a paint job the carpet was dirty the bed i was in was broken and squeaked every time i moved Breakfast in the morning was help yourselves but we had to ask another quest my daughter asked for some toast and we waited to see if they were going ask if we wanted cooked breakfast they did ask if we wanted brown or white toast but not do we want a cooked breakfast When we went to hand keys in no one there so handed to a lady i think she was the cleaner Date of visit May2018

Amazing place. Lovely food, good choice and exceptional staff (especially Matt 👏👏). Staying at hotel itself, so we had lunch, afternoon tea and evening meal. Highly recommended 👍👍

DO NOT USE IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES First and last time using this place. Totally ignorant on food safety and handling rules. Ordered a doner meal, asked for chili sauce. Wife saw her putting wrong sauce on. She clearly only owned up as she saw my wife was watching. I specifically asked for the meal to be remade. Not my error and I said I didn't want the other sauce. She grudgingly walks back to the area the doner meat is. Within 30 seconds she's back. I asked is that fresh, you've not just chucked the bits away to be promised no. I asked twice as there was no way she had remade it. Got home, no drink which we paid for. Box is covered in the wrong sauce. Meat has the wrong sauce still. Dinner in the bin. Imagine if this was an allergen issue, rather than just a preference? Totally unacceptable, dangerous and against all good practice. The attitude of the guy serving was rude, had to repeat my small order several times and he clearly has no customer service skills. Won't be returning.

I've been using the restaurant take away service for about 5 months now. and I have found the overall quality of the food which is ordered is quiet disappointing. the order comes out very quickly which means it's not freshly prepared and cooked to order as stated on the menu and when you received your order you get exactly what you have asked for with no compliment items like you would normally get in most takeaways in the aerier such a complimentary salad or poppadom . And the overall quality of the food does vary from week to week.

We ordered a Keralan Fish Curry and a Rogan Josh. Bothe tasted much the same - bland. Not an experience we would wish to repeat.

Dropped two stars because, staff ask whether you are drinking in or takeaway. Me being honest, I said drinking in and pay for the privilege, but there were a lot of people who clearly paid for a takeaway drink (who have takeaway cups) which is cheaper and sit in to have it. The staff should enforce this, or don't charge different prices to drink in and takeaway!! And FAR too many dogs inside !!
