Village Curry in Wokingham

We ordered a Keralan Fish Curry and a Rogan Josh. Bothe tasted much the same - bland. Not an experience we would wish to repeat.

Our regular and standards just don’t drop. Great service as well and always friendly and welcoming. Good range of choices and I particularly recommend the Village Kofta Curry- yum!

Ordered chicken tikka, keema Nan, rice, desserts. Honestly it all tasted old. Like it had been reheated. It was not edible at all. So disappointed. The saag had barely any spinach. Really not good. If you want a good curry I suggest Gaylords in Twyford. I always go here but today fancied a change and this was all binned. I will be sticking with my usual from now on.

Slow, unwelcoming counter service, old decor, no receipt, order errors, inedible, partly cooked returned via collection driver, plated food binned, my phone number blocked. Returned in person to follow up since the call back requested by driver never came and attempts over several days to get through on phone and social media unsuccessful. Unprofessional, rude encounter recorded. Partial refund offered. On both Saturday visits, no other customers present or calling. Query hygiene standards.

Tandoori lamb chops are usually beautiful and cooked just right but tonight they are tough and overcooked . Maybe they have a different supplier?

Village curry take away is usually absolutely wonderful with great flavours and spices. We decided to have another take away a week ago from village curry. It was really nice however I agree with a lot of people, these curries are very oily! Don’t even think about buying side dishes from here! I’ve had samosas, bhajis and naan from here, all flavourless and disgusting! So... the curry I ordered last week made me seriously ill. Had horrific stomach cramps - worst pain I’ve ever been in and very bad toilet. I was wondering perhaps I had food poisoning but luckily these symptoms only lasted for 1 day. Would not order from here again, not sure about their health and safety practises (maybe meat was off in my curry?).

We’ve ordered a number of times from here but unfortunately this is the last as the standards seemed to have really dropped. First off the delivery was late but the food was just awful, every dish was swimming in oils and even draining it off couldn’t get rid of the bulk of it. The king prawns were nothing of the sort, a few tiny shrimps with the dish bulked out with peppers and onion. Even the peshwari naan was undercooked. A real shame as this used to be our favourite Indian Takeaway but somethings changed and the quality is awful.

Our go to Indian is closed so looking through reviews decided to try a takeaway from here, the food arrived in the given time stated from just eat and was piping hot when it arrived.I was disappointed with the amount ordered that papadums were not thrown in as several Indians we have had takeaways from always have. The curry’s we ordered were so generous and had lots of flavour and taste and enough to share very easily. The garlic naan bread was one of the best I had and was of good size.Lovely food and would definitely order again.

Continues to be great and consistently delivers great flavour. Real friendly bunch as well and they will always look after you. I love the village kofta curry- give it a go!

My husband and I have collected takeaway from here several times now and always been impressed by the quality of the food. Last month, we had lots of family over and did a bigger order than usual and sampled a wider spectrum of dishes from the menu and the whole family were really complementary. Portion size, quality of ingredients and promptness are always excellent. In addition, when I was 9 months pregnant, we ordered food the night before I gave birth to our little girl so it’s worth a try if you are pregnant...haha!

We have ordered from here a few times.. the first time delivery was about 40 minutes and the second over an hour.. but we ordered a third time as the food was nice! On the third occasion the food took 1 hour and 55 minutes and we live 3.1 miles away. I was calling the restaurant to say what is going on and why is it taking so long and that the food will be cold. They kept apologising and saying it will be a few minutes. The man said the next time we ordered he would give us something for free and he had noted it on our account, so we reluctantly went to order again we were told that it would be £5 for delivery unless the order was over £30, I said that had never been the case before and the response was it’s because you live far.. we live 3.1 miles away which is a 13 minute drive!!!!! They said it says so on the website.. on the website it says within 5 miles free and if further it’s £5 delivery under £30. I then explained that there should be a note on our account to say we would get a dish free which caused an issue and we had to wait while it was discussed. They then offered us something extra to what we had ordered so I said can’t I just have one of the things I have already ordered free and then I was hung up on.. I called back 4 times with no answer. If you want to starve to death waiting for your food to arrive and like dealing with rude people I would suggest to order from village curry.

Had some friends over that are curry fans and of course went for the always brilliant Village Curry. They both loved the interesting menu and were even more pleased when chomping down the food. Great as always- this is THE curry take away in Wokingham and surrounding area.

Indian restaurants are plentiful, so we're always looking for one with some slightly different items on the menu to try.Here you can get coconut samosas, murgh nazakat, kebab bashi starters: all delicious.The usual favourites - lemon rice, keema rice/nan, shashlik, madras - are all excellent. Plenty of other new dishes to try too.

Village curry sits in the middle of an unassuming row of shops in the heart of the Emmbrook community. As a life long member of this community, I make it my business to trial any establishment to deliver my commendation or condemnation. Never before has this task been so easy than in the case of Village Curry. Having ecstatically frequented this exceptional establishment on numerous occasions, I have never once found myself disappointed. I could rave and ramble of the excellence of the dishes I have sampled, however in the interest of brevity I shall hold my tongue, much like how the dishes of Village Curry have captivated it so. From Bhajee to Bhuna, Tikka and Tandoori, no takeaway does better. Each curry is delicately spiced and delightful, giving the customer the option of adventurous authentic cuisine as well as traditional, yet excellent fan favourites. If I were to permit myself to serenade just one dish at Village Curry, it would have to be the Lamb Rajistani. Supremely spiced and perfectly saucy, I am left in a state of lasting lamentation when my plate is clean and my curry consumed. I can only speak in the highest order of all of Village Curry’s staff. From front desk to delivery every interaction is friendly and professional. However I must mention the excellent delivery service, in particular Gavin and Matt, who are quick but most importantly reliable. Come cloud or clear, rain or shine, my village curry is delivered in perfect time.Highly Recommend.

Great British Indian curry take away. Thoroughly enjoyed and could not fault a thing. Being home alone that night and them being the closest take away and recommended by friend gave it a go and we will be back

I've ordered regularly from Village Curry over the past two months since a friend at work recommended them to me. I've had several dishes from their menu from a Tikka Masala to a Jalfrezi. My favourites are the Bhuna, the Sag and the Lasoni. Everything is always fresh and piping hot. I've recommended to friends and family and would to anyone. Do not miss out!

We are regular customers since moving to Wokingham. Always great food, the samosas are the best I’ve had! Would recommend, happy eating!

Flavoursome food and excellent service - the Salmon Bhuna is fantastic; they have some really original dishes among the classics. Very good portion sizes and always well cooked - worth getting a range of dishes. Really tasty naan bread and other side dishes.

We were recommended to come here by my sister and her partner who use this curry house regularly and were not disappointed!

Tried Village Curry at Emmbrook Wokingham a few time and was never disappointed. Very good taste and prompt delivery. Would surely recommend their biryani and kababs.

We have been using village curry for 2 years now, more or less every week. The couple that run it are some of the nicest people we’ve met!Their food is fantastic and they are really helpful when ordering, even suggesting different things to try that they think we would like! The food is always hot and packaged well (never had a leaky container!) They always ask how our last meal was when we order the next and on several occasions have even given us free dishes (our wedding anniversary for example) They are so friendly, always ask how our children are doing and they’ve managed to get 3/4 of our children to eat curry! We wouldn’t dream of ordering from anywhere else now!

We had family over and they wanted a curry. We ordered and the cost was £96 - an absolute waste of money it was disgusting. The korma tasted bland and even the kids (who love korma) could not eat it. The only dish that was edible was the Chicken tikka but even that was extremely red in colour more than usual.

Ordered takeaway recently. The food is literally like that wonderful care package an amazing aunt would bring round for you. The bhajis were some of the best we’ve had. The chicken starters moist tender and flavourful. The prawn puree had a lovely seared taste. Often mains can taste as if four different curry’s all originated from the same sauce, not here. Unique, clear and tasty in particular the Chicken Adraki. Lovely personable service and efficient delivery. So so good.

Food was on time and tasty. Delivery driver very polite. Village Curry also has 5* rating from Food Standards Agency. I think they have experienced quality chef. Will definitely use again...

We’ve recently moved to the area so have been shopping around for our go-to places and this will be the only place we order our curries from now! Great food and super quick delivery so will only be using this place from now on!

This place is fantastic! We decided to give it a go after reading all the great reviews and we were not disappointed! The lady was super friendly behind the counter which was nice, and we collected our food promptly. The food is fantastic, hot and plentiful. It was absolutely delicious (highly recommend the Paneer Tikka Masala - best I've ever had!). Thanks, we will definitely be returning!

Lovely curry and was w really good family meal for a good price. These guys know exactly what to suggest on the menu depending on your taste. The set menu for 4 can be shared between more happily. Tandoori King Prawns are my favourite. Everything was great.

First time ordering spoke to a lovely lady on the phone ordered tandoori prawns and tandoori mixed grill came with salad and dressing it was full of flavour and delicious the lady I spoke to on the phone delivered the food and it was very hot. Will definitely be ordering again and recommend this lovely takeaway.

We use Village Curry fairly frequently and it's always really nice. The spicing is spot on and we've just never had a bad curry from them. Love staff as well to make the whole thing smooth and a good experience. Recommend them highly.

It's a decent curry takeaway. Not stunning, but decent. Would definitely return. "Medium" dishes were a little mild to our taste, whilst hot dishes were HOT! Still good though!

This is a great little takeaway. Me and a friend ordered the lonka and rajasthani lamb. Good portions of meat and great sauce. Chapatis were brilliant too. And very friendly staff too

We have always struggled to find a decent curry house but this was lovely. Tried on a friends recommendation and weren't disappointed. The garlic nann was a bit greasy but that is down to the garlic butter.......it didn't put me off at all. It tasted soooooo good. Look forward to ordering again.

I was horrified by the quality of the food, dripping in grease and Tandoori Chicken which was inedible. I have had reasonable food from here before, but this was possibly the worst takeout ever. Really sorry guys, but you need to sharpen up.

Right when are these places going to stop using pumped chicken . Horrible and soggy . The lamb was fine , the poppadoms that cost .63p inc the discount were not crisp and fresh .??????

We have continued to order food from this takeaway over the last months, and has no become (again) our fav. We always collect - the new owners really are great people, chatty, suggesting new things to try. A friendly Husband & Wife team, as well as the food tasting excellent, it has an authentic taste and the whole family where very pleased with the service. We cant recommend these new owners enough ... Give it a go you wont be disappointed!

First time we have used the village curry for a take away and it was amazing. Such tasty food and really speedy delivery. It's now our first choice for Indian.

After the previous owner (Curry HQ), let service and quality slip - I was reluctant to go back so avoided. However - last night tried it for the 1st time..

This is definitely a worth while takeaway to visit, if you like good authentic curries then give them a go. The couple that run the place are very polite and gave me some extras. defiantly the best curry I've eaten in a very long time and its my favourite food.

Ordered here twice since it reopened as Village Curry (was Curry HQ) before. Not sure if it is completely new owners or not, but we thought the good is much tastier than when it was Curry HQ. Quick delivery. Would order again.

Very tasty, had it three times so far. Always been good standards. Timing has been good apart from one time it was a bit late. However they decided not charge us for poppadoms! Definitely recommend this place highly.

Saturday night collection order ready in 30 minutes. Called me to say it was ready for collection. 3 mains plus sundries was £37. 15% collection discount. Free bottle of cola. Very tasty meal especially Chicken Bhuna. The Chicken Lanka was spicey but not over powering.
