Moonlight in Wokingham

I've been using the restaurant take away service for about 5 months now. and I have found the overall quality of the food which is ordered is quiet disappointing. the order comes out very quickly which means it's not freshly prepared and cooked to order as stated on the menu and when you received your order you get exactly what you have asked for with no compliment items like you would normally get in most takeaways in the aerier such a complimentary salad or poppadom . And the overall quality of the food does vary from week to week.

To start the papad was great, selection of chutney and pickles was really good too Then starter : chicken completely over cooked and dry as not possible, prawns really sweet without taste Main: mine was completely tasteless, daal really bad and overcook the lentils had no texture anymore purée of tasteless spice Rice completely overcook as well Only saag aloo was great but like every single ingredients of the menu wasn’t seasoned at all Really small quantity compare to other around Really bad taste Huge frustration Quiet pricy Worth indian I had in uk

I won't go anywhere else. Best indian restaurant in the world. Lovely staff. Fantastic food. Good value

Service was slow yet only customers in the restaurant, food was good however rice and onion Bhajis were not as hot as it should be. Left some naan, rice, aloo gobie and chicken to be taken home yet only the chicken and aloo gobie was put in the pot unfortunately didn’t check until I was home. Disappointed that all the food we asked for to be packed up wasn’t. This has put me off coming back.

I just love Moonlight, the food is always fantastic. It’s a real treasure tucked away on a housing estate.

Wow this restaurant far exceeded our expectations. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent - tasty, fresh and hot. The restaurant had a cozy feel and was very romantic - just what we were looking for on our anniversary. Excellent value for money - highly recommended!

A real hidden gem, best Indian in Woodley by far. Excellent value with the meal deal on Sundays. We will go back soon.

In my opinion, this restaurant is an underrated gem in Woodley. I have been using this restaurant as it is my local for years and have always had high quality food. When we have taken friends they are always surprised at how good the menu is with lots of variety and vegetarian options. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming too.

I've been going to this takeaway for 8+ years and thought it was time for a review. I've tried all the Indian takeaways in Woodley and Early and have concluded the tastiest is the Moonlight. The Sunday night Buffet is good value, and for such a small restaurant they really have made the most of the space. The takeaway service is equally good value. I almost always collect, but the few times I have order for delivery it's arrived promptly.

We were left very disappointed by the delivery service from Moonlight. Having placed the order at 7.30, we were told 8.45 for delivery. By 9 it hadn’t arrived, so we called and were told it was on it’s way and would be 10-15 minutes. No sign at 9.25 so we call again and the food hadn’t actually left the kitchen; the first person had simply lied to us. Dreadful customer service. Let’s hope the food is better.

Once again excellent meal, can't fault it. Service as always on top form. Becoming a once a month habit (either eat in or takeaway). Thoroughly recommend.

I've been using the Moonlight for several years as a takeaway, but slowly over the years, the restaurant experience has improved, as has the service. Their latest internal refit has put the restaurant experience to the fore! The cosy, informal layout makes it for a great intimate venue, at a very reasonable price.

We had just returned from holiday and were too tired to cook so went to the Moonlight for their Sunday Buffet. Only to find out they were no longer doing this but had replaced it with their Gourmet Menu, happy days! the food was plentiful, tasty and as always a relaxed atmosphere and great service. Amazing value too! This is only a small restaurant and I don't understand why it isn't full all the time as in the last two years we have been going or ordering takeaways once or twice a month we have never been disappointed.

This place is great! The owner shakes your hand, asks how your doing, warms my brandy glass before he serves me, near on perfect I really can’t fault it. Twice we have ordered takeout and ended up sitting in the restaurant because the place is so welcoming and the ambience is great, snug cozy & intimate, perfect! Oh and lamb biryani is amazing too.

We have been here with family for a small occasion and we have chosen mixed buffet and ala-carte and everyone enjoyed the food. Buffet on Sunday is quite a good deal - any one from starter section, one from the main course, side (vegetarian) and either Nan or rice which is sufficient enough for an average person with a reasonable price of ten. The side dishes are quite yummy and delicious.

The Moonlight Indian restaurant in Hudson Road, Woodley is excellent. It’s tucked away in a small parade of shops with easy parking. It’s not large and flashy just friendly with wonderful service. The food is exceptional and very reasonably priced. I enjoy lamb dishes and the meat here is particularly good. For those of you that enjoy a nice glass of wine with your meal there is also an extensive wine list.

I think my takeaway last night was one of the worst I've ever eaten ripped the leaflet up and today I have abad stomach no flavour ,cold rubbish

We had been working late and the hotel had stopped serving food, so we reached for the Trip advisor app.

I came here on a Friday night with friends, whilst I was visiting the area. I’d describe myself as a bit of a curry snob, but I thought this place was great! Some good house specials on the menu as well as all the traditional favourites. The owner and staff were excellent too - very hospitable! It really hit the mark!

Went there in February. Lots of tables free but dirty . Waitresses standing around .left us waiting we walked out and went to mother webbs

We came here for a family night out. The food and service was terrible. All of the food was cold and the mains came out between 10 and 40 minutes of each other. The starter was over 40 mins for it to come out cold! Would not come back and would DEFINITELY not come back OR recommend.

This was the first time we had eaten at the Moonlight but it will certainly not be the last.Lovely to catch up with friends we had not seen for ages.The staff were attentive but we were not at all rushed and we had a fabulous meal.I would recommend the tandoori mixed grill.Lovely atmosphere extensive menu very reasonably priced. A hidden gem in Hudson Road.

Yet again another great meal this time eating in restaurant. Lovely food, service etc. Would recommend.

All food appears to be cooked to order using fresh ingredients from their kitchen. Very tasty and well presented. Good selection of dishes. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good quality wines to go with the meal too.

I’ve been here about 7 times in the last month or two, three times in the last fortnight and twice in 24 hours!

I ordered food and when told the price I had to remind them that Tuesdays had a 15% discount for collection.

Have visited Moonlight often over the years. Great little Indian restaurant tucked away in quiet road in Woodley (also does takeaway/ delivery). Prices and food quality very reasonable. Service time can vary (especially if busy, but you can book / check in advance). I have found if you are in a rush they try to accommodate if they can and flip side, if you are not in a rush it's nice not be expected to vacate table asap! Owner/ manager very charming and staff always polite. Definitely recommend to others.

Never needed to visit as always have a delivery - service is bang on a couple of hiccups here and there but are always dealt with...

Small but beautiful my former Indian restaurant - fantastic food, service and atmosphere. I would definitely visit again when next in the area

This is the best place around. By far. Hadn't been for a few months which is a long time! Went back on a Saturday night and it was just as good as always in fact I think it has got even better. The food is always good and the staff are very good as well. The manager I can't praise highly enough. Nothing is too much trouble and he really friendly and very thankful for your visit. Role on the next time!

I complained about the poor quality of my take away and the manager shouted at me and put the phone down on me. Food was cold and we could not eat it. I have not ordered since. It's a shame as previous orders were good.

Just moved into Woodley and we were walking around checking out our new local area, until we spotted The moonlight. We thought we'd give it a try even though we were slightly unimpressed with the apperance from the outside. But it was a totally different story inside!! It was a wonderful layout with efficient waiters and a relaxed atmosphere. My chicken tikka masala was delicious and overall it was a wonderful evening.

I really don't know why this place is not packed out all the time! Great food, great staff and great service. Highly reccomended

We are frequent visitors here. If you eat in the restaurant the food and atmosphere are very nice, the staff team and very friendly and cannot do enough for you. My one criticism is they are a little slow with drinks service and they could probably increase sales of they were faster to replenish!! Eating in the food is much better than if you take away, that is not to say take away is awful, it's not, maybe it's the atmosphere the staff create that makes a difference!

Take away last night but have also eaten in the restaurant. Don't be put off by its location or unimposing exterior, this place is a gem.

This restaurant was recommended to us, and I was so pleased we went along for a meal. The restaurant was very small, which is fine, the service was fast but relaxed and no one hurried us along. The food was really superb and we will definitely return here for a meal. Excellent night!!

Hard to know where to start ...... We had a home delivery from there again last night and the food quality, the taste, the freshness, the welcome and service ... fantastic! And, that's just for a takeaway!!

We have only ever had take away from here, but it is very good, and nice and close to us. We look forward to ordering more in the future as well.

Came here yesterday for the buffet, it was so good. I was expecting much, however I was surpised. All food Hot, amd lots of choices for only £8.00. I will be coming back.

Food always great, but an hour and three quarters for delivery, not acceptable., will not order again I'm afraid with this level of service.

Once again a fantastic night here with amazing food. Booked a table of 10 and we all had a great experience. Excellent food as usual. Great staff. Faultless once again.

Second takeaway from here. Gave them the benefit of the doubt on the last one as it was New Years Eve and bound to be busy (hour and a half later it turns up barely warm)

Had the menu through the door, thought i'd give it ago didn't bother to check out trip advisor. So Friday night around 8 pm decided on the the takeaway, got there. Doesnt look that flashy from the outside end of few row if shops. Went in and the place was packed and squeezed. Thought it was a good sign mainly families and groups. Ordered lamb and chicken dish and few naans, didn't mind the 20 wait. Got the food went home... dishes looked the same ! Tomatoes , peppers and onions for both dishes , which is weird cause i ordered 2 distinct styles, food was very bland , had to add our own spices and the naans were burnt and very stodgy and oily, waste of my hard earned cash , I would not recommend it at all, stay clear if you like curry! !

Ate here Saturday Night. What amazing food. I only had a chicken Korma, but I am now an expert in Chicken Kormas :) My only complaint was too much chicken not enough sauce (not a massive meat eater, but a dipper) partner’s food amazing, massive portion of rice and great naan breads will defo be back

I first heard about this place from a leaflet through my door. Bored one night I went for a takeaway. Do not be put off by the outside. Once inside they took my order and gave me a free large bottle of beer while I waited. The meal was fantastic. Took my partner there (who has travelled all over the India) she said it was the most Authentic Indian she had in this country. Funny little place, excellent food, extremely cheap!!!

Ordered a take away for delv for New Years Eve Party arrived piping hot and all dishes were very tasty will definitely use them again fab !

I have been here dozens of times. It's always amazing food. It's local which helps, but I really cannot ever fault the food. Occasionally it can be a tad slow in service when its busy. But they do alot of take aways and people calling in. But to be honest, when you go for a Indian, you dont really mind too much. The manager is a great guy which helps, always friendly and seeing if everything is alright. It's a hidden gem, and that makes it even better in my opinion. I really believe this is the best place in Reading especially for the food. You must go!!! Now!!!

This is a superb little place the food is great, staff are lovely it's just a little bit slow and you have to be quite boisterous to get your next drink! Personally I think they could make more money by taking drinks orders faster and more regularly. Great Sunday buffet!

The is one of the best Indian restaurants around, we regularly get take aways here and occasionally use the restaurant. The place is tiny but the food is always fresh, aromatic and tasty. Staff are friendly and attentive.

We came here as its close and wanted to support local. What we order wasn't what it normally tastes like from other Indians and it was fatty and just tasted horrible, the rice was dry and like it was crunchy, the only saving grace was the Nann! I wouldn't go again as it just didn't taste right.

This restaurant creates UK's Indian cuisine at its best. Fresh delicious food. Unpretentious. The price is average for this kind of restaurant but the taste and size of the portions are worthy. Also the manager remembers your name and preferences!
