The best restaurants serving Default food in Tunbridge Wells South East

This place is awful and I can tell you now The fish is meant to be Cod and it was not what I ordered. The cod is a sloshy and horrible if you can call it that. The chips tasted overcooked in old oil. I used to work in a fish and chip shop I can tell you now this is not a proper fish and chip shop. I should of gone with St John's fish bar.

Fantastic evening spent in the cosy and friendly atmosphere. Excellent choices or small or large mealls. Jack was extremely knowledgeable when advising the different types of oysters and which sides/wine to have. We had Skate with new potatoes and dressed crab with salad. All food was fresh and superb quality by Chef 'Mack' . Definitely going again.

Just visited here for coffee/cake. So impressed by two members of staff - one male, one female. A great team. Both very efficient, courteous and respectful to all customers throughout - in spite of being extremely busy throughout my visit. Would highly recommend the flapjack - delicious

Wonderful food and ambient! We tried many Japanese restaurant and this is really on top of my list. At least in Kent it is nice. We tried salmon lover. The salmon is fresh and adequate fat ratio. The sushi roll comes with a little bit of spicy and crispy onion which is very nice. We also tried their Unagi don and I think it’s really nice. The eel melt in mouth and not too sweet and optimal flavour. Had a chat with the boss and found they are from Hong Kong where there are lots of Japanese restaurants and they know what’s authentic Japanese food taste like. For Hong Kong people, please come as the boss is very nice to talk to! I will definitely come again

Had a very unexpected visit today. Spent the whole morning running errands and shopping around town and realised I was flagging fast (heavily pregnant) and hadn’t eaten a thing since the night before. Tried eating at the cafe in Victoria Place only to be told they were short staffed and couldn’t serve the area of tables set out. Great. Sent away (along with others waiting) and walked out looking for somewhere else. Walked in to Poppins and immediately greeted and to sit anywhere I pleased. I grabbed the first table and had immediate service approach. Friendly and cheerful. I just had a simple breakfast sandwich and a mug of tea. Delicious. It’s simple fare but just what I needed. I certainly prefer to support a business like this with friendly and tasty food rather than a chain that don’t value their patrons. Will pop in next time I need a quick pit stop for refuelling.

Good choice on menu and food arrived very quickly but was disorderly as we couldn’t start eating without rice which arrived last. The food itself was okay, nothing to rave about, and the decor was nice for a photo opportunity.

The restaurant is the sister restaurant of TN12, which we have visited a number of times and is generally very good. This restaurant offers breakfast/brunch and tapas menus. We visited for lunch midweek, hoping to test out the tapas menu. We ordered, only for the waitress to come back a few minutes later to say that they had no chicken, which eliminated some of our choices. We selected some alternatives only for the waitress to come back to say the chef had now decided not to offer tapas today! It is extraordinary that a restaurant runs out of a key ingredient on a Wednesday lunchtime - especially when there is a perfectly good butcher 100 yards away who would no doubt have sold them as much chicken as they needed. We ordered from the brunch menu - the steak sandwich was very good but sadly the poached eggs on toast were overdone and hard. The ambience was nice and the waitress helpful but sadly it is unlikely we will visit again.

Booked a table for family, waited an hour and a half for our Roast dinners, and not worth the wait very small portions 1 slice of beef 1 slice of pork 1 small florets of broccoli 2 tiny slithers of carrot and 2 small parsnips pieces, must admit there were 4 roast potatoes, but it would have looked better on a tea plate. No one came to check on us, and when we rechecked the Menu we should of had cauliflower cheese as well, we told the Gentleman at the till when we went to pay, he apologised and took £4.00 off our bill. Wow left there still hungry, as it had taken so long to get our food, we did not have time for a dessert, not good enough

One of the better pub restaurants in Tunbridge Wells, been here a few times and the food is always solid and good value. They also have 50% off discounts occasionally which makes it even incredible value for money, 3 courses for around £15!

Enjoyed a pint in the spring sunshine on the terrace at the George. Excellent service and a wide selection of independent beers on tap.

It’s happened again. They have done it - again. I returned for the Friday evening tapas and jazz evening (if you’ve not witnessed this - you must, believe me - phenomenal) and not only was the value for money absolutely exquisite, but the service - top tier, the atmosphere - beyond me. Scarlet was not here this evening (for those who read my previous review) however as sad as this was, the night was made equally as glamorous and unique in its own right by our delightful waitress Sarah, who was nothing short of a shining star the entire evening. She was attentive and resilient with our many needs! She made the evening a joy, and for this reason - along with the many many others - we will OF COURSE be returning promptly - as demonstrated by the fact I was back this evening. Once again a 5 star review, I don’t think that will change any time soon! All the best - happy dining (staying!)

We come here a lot for our dinner and it never fails to surprise us. We usually buy a combo since it's cheaper rather than separately. My mum really loves the pomegranate sauce on the Seasonal salad, she really recommends it. The Sehriyeli rice is amazingly flavoured and I get it every single time I go because it is so great. The layout and scenery of the establishment is very appealing and the music in the background is just lively enough for the mood. It it usually very packed, I can understand why because of the food quality, it's some of the best meat I've ever eaten. Would be useful if there were more than three toilets (counting the disabled toilet) for usage since it can get extremely busy within minutes. Restaurant is sometimes understaffed and the cook that has to multi-task with serving really needs some extra credit. It's getting to the point that the staff recognise us from how often we come. Food is always above expectation and I love the food, especially when I haven't eaten in hours, amazing job! - Lurra
