This cafe has changed hands many times over the past few years. Always a favourite of ours for food and tea and coffee. This time it truly misses the mark. We have been there on three occasions over the past few weeks. The food choice is poor, the pre-made sandwiches stored in an open cabinet look far from appetising. The prices have risen dramatically. The Service leaves a lot to be desired. The same two young ladies gossiping and on occasions ignoring customers. On one occasion this week laughing at customers. People walking out without being served. We had to ask one girls several times to clear the table. On one occasions, one of the girls nearly dropped the coffee on us. The cup and saucer clearly too heavy for her . Its lost its heart and soul. A shame for a cafe that holds a prominent position within the Pantiles.

They mucked up our food order so one meal came out but the other meal didn’t. The waitress blamed the chef but who know who made the error but by the time the second order came out 25 minutes later I had finished eating the first order. When the second meal came out the chicken was undercooked and was returned to the kitchen. By the time it came back out again it looked a mess and was not appetising at all. It was rejected and we asked for the bill which when presented included a service charge. Given our experience I asked for it to be removed. The waitress went back inside the cafe and came out with the same bill but the service charge crossed out. Stupidly I did not check the amount she put into the card machine but lo and behold when I checked my bank account the next day the service charge had not been removed. This was our first and will be our last visit to this establishment. They ruined what was supposed to be a lovely lunch with a friend.

Nice spot with outdoor tables. We were disappointed though as we felt ripped off when we got the bill. Children's portion charged at full price and 50p added for oat milk which I have never had anywhere else in the country!! Also did a swap on full English but was charged an extra £3 which was unexpected and not mentioned when ordering. Food was OK but rip off means we won't go back.

I'm born and bred in TW and I have watched the Pantiles slip down and down over the years. The Chalybeate springs have now been paved over and some cheap fountain system has been installed to give a false water fall effect of the springs. Awful tacky vending machines have been installed to sell "authentic" Tunbridge Wells spring water and the original railings have been cut away and discarded. Even the lovely original signs and information about Dudley Lord North have been covered over by cheap plastic replicas. Such a shame this was allowed to happen. No longer are there the bands that played every Sunday afternoon on the bandstand. There are some lovely aspects to The Pantiles. Look out for the oldest post box in Tunbridge Wells. Also, can you find the oldest building first built there? Another huge plus is The Ragged Trousers bar and bistro. EXCELLENT food and drink and always a friendly welcome. If you are a visitor to Tunbridge Wells, you will probably love it. If you are born and bred, you will remember it in its hey day.

I imagine this table of four ordered your entire cake and entire sandwiches and hot drinks and pastries. Unbelievable that they couldn’t tell us what they had left. I feel like they just did not want to serve us no clue why but my ethnicity may have something to do with it. We waited half hour and still nothing so we left.

Lively historic street with bars, cafes and a few specialist shops. It often has a weekend market selling crafts, clothing and food. The Pantiles has plenty of shaded outdoor seating in bars and cafes. There are a few benches where you can sit for free. Dogs are a common sight. Water from the well is available in bottles from a vending machine, rather than dipped from the well, which seems a bit strange. But the water needs treating to make it safe and palatable owing to the high mineral content.

Great food as always and the staff, went above and beyond sorting lunch out due to a limited menu whilst they have some work done on the building. They made some really tasty tacos with rice and vegan chilli. Super tasty and filling... But I did find room for some vegan coffee cake 😁 Yes a little banging from the building work, but not that distracting, I still managed to get some writing done whilst eating.
