Thai Orchid Southborough in Tunbridge Wells

We have now been to Thai Orchard twice and both times we were welcomed with such friendly and welcoming staff. They were attentive throughout the meal and made the whole experience enjoyable. The menu has a vast amount of options and we always seem to pick the special meal for 2 that has a variety of choice and so much food for the price. The atmosphere is relaxed and very colourful. Would recommend.

We Collected ourselves in the end as the delivery time was going up and up. Food had been cooked and ready for ages when we collected. Will order direct from the restaurant next time!

Possibly the worst Asian-style meal I have ever experienced. Greasy bland slop. I won’t even dignify this by calling it Thai as it shares nothing in common with anything close to real Thai food. And this is before we get into the restaurant missing a meal, clearly not ticked off on the receipt (when every other delivered item was ticked) and yet still charged for.

Friendly staff, fun atmosphere but the food a little lacking in some dishes. Good pad Thai, and nice duck pancakes. Curries a little too Western for my taste. Will try again though as was very busy.

Unfortunately my Pad Thai chicken wasn’t nice tasting.neither the cabbage slices. My Pad broccoli was tasteless,chunky and hard too and the few onion slices tasted rancid..The duck rolls were so disappointing and very thin I did love the prawn crackers!.I

We were really impressed! 7pm on a Saturday night and the place was busy and full of atmosphere. The main guy explained that he had been running the place for six months. Based on our first ever visit he seems to be doing a great job as we could not fault the service, food or cleanliness of the facilities. The wine and beer were perfectly chilled and they were very friendly without being overly attentive, so we did not feel rushed at all and able to have a long relaxed dinner. Will certainly go back.

Curry and starters were amazing

Walked in for a table for 2 at 20:30 and they quickly got a table ready for us. Food was very good and service even better. The gentleman with the excellent smile really looked after us and happily packed our dessert to go. Was only passing through but would come again ! Thank you !

Went there for my daughter's birthday. Food was flavourful, authentic and promptly served. Staff were welcoming and brought us a Thai birthday cake and liqueurs on the house to celebrate, along with singing us a Thai version of Happy Birthday! An enjoyable meal and occasion.

Lovely place, the food is amazing and the service was delightful. We had a vegetarian set menu for two and there was more than enough food for us. Will definitely come back!

We visit the 2nd time and the hygiene is so bad now. The floor was dirt and sticky The utensils were full of unclean dirt the toilet was really stink! It smell so strong and I almost throw up Below was my first review It’s clean and tidy. Bright and very good service. We ordered the fried platter which was soso. The oil seems had been used many times. Masaman curry was normal too the chicken was dry and curry was not tasty as the tonbridge gab kau The pad Thai was normal too Price was ok but the food was normal Service was great. As you see from the picture the waiter was using a tissue to deliver the plate which is really nice

My food was cold and over cooked, with no flavor. Seriously gutted. Not impressed at all 😕

lovely! highly recommended. Our usual 'fave' thai let us down last minute so I Googled and found Thai Orchid, so happy I did, spoke to a lovely man who fitted us in at late notice. Firstly we were greeted by a huge smile! Fab! then the restaurant was decorated so beautifully - wow. then we had a fab table and the service was excellent! friendly, smiley, quick and then all topped off with delicious well priced food. YUM. great menu choices, loads of vegetarian, GF, vegan and meat eaters. so tasty. big portions too. This is our new fave thai in TW - can't wait to go again. :o)

Delicious food and great service

Pad see ew had no thick flat noodles as described. There was no sauce or flavour to either noodle dishes.

If I could give them 6-stars I would. Really nice staff, really authentic Thai dishes, and really huge portion sizes. Went in on Mothers Day and everything was perfect. Can't recommend highly enough.

Just had a lovely Mothers’ Day lunchtime treat here. Great relaxed atmosphere, and ridiculously generous portions (which we had to take home as we couldn’t finish). Really tasty, will be coming again, thank you.

We've come here loads of times since it opened. Yummy fresh tasting food and very friendly service. The kids love the green and massaman curries, the Pad Thai and grapow and the salads are all fabulous :)

New owners. Overall very good. Service and atmosphere was excellent. Food good. We like hot Thai level chilli, I would say here was medium but still good. Beef waterfall salad very nice. Only strange thing for me was that there was no coriander leaves in any of the dishes which is unusual but overall will be going back

This is the 3rd time i have ordered from this restaurant. I once dined in-house too. The food is freshly prepared and the presentation is wonderful. Best thai food for miles around. However, this time when i ordered my home delivery at 5pm the food arrived 5.45 and it was not up to the standard as all my previous. It seemed as if it had bee prepared much earlier that day or the day before. A shame there is much less choice online for home delivery than eating in the restaurant. If the order is over £30 +delivery fee then at least the prawn crackers should be free and no extra charge like other restaurants. I will order again.

Had a fabulous meal with my family on Saturday night. Food was excellent as well as the service. It was quite busy but the service was very good, excellent atmosphere as well.

Eat Thai food Authentic Thai flavors by Chef Da, who used to work at a 5-star hotel. Very good service and shop The whole shop is decorated with flowers, bright and the atmosphere is very pleasant. I recommend it.

Excellent eatery serving authentic Thai dishes. Kicked off with mouth watering chicken satay followed by delicious green curry washed down Singha is a winning combination and the excellent attentive service. Highly recommended.

Lovely restaurant with impeccable service. Went for a meal with my family and the waiter couldn’t have been nicer. Food was lovely - went for the vegetarian set meal and the starters were out of this world amazing!

Great food! The waiters were very kind, funny and kept the beer topped up. The inside was pretty and a super nice atmosphere to eat in. I would go back when I'm next in town. I got a vegetarian set meal for 5 with my family, and there was more food than we could manage. Packed a lot to take home. Banana fritters and coconut rice were absolutely delicious. The mixed vegetarian platter to start with was beautifully presented with pepper art and SO tasty. I would recommend all the bits. The green curry was delicious too - spicy, but delicious :D

Food was delicious and not overpriced, staff were lovely, fun colourful place. Another service charge added bill but that seems to be the Tunbridge way.

We went here for a friends birthday and it was a really lovely evening. The owners and staff are really friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the food was fresh and very enjoyable. The presentation of the food was great, as was the flavour. They treated my friend really well as it was his birthday and made it a very special evening. We will certainly be returning another time.

Ordered online through Just eat and there was a slight hiccup with orders. Thai orchid phoned to tell me straight away and rectified the order by sending the correct one out. They were very polite and apologetic, fantastic customer service all round. Food was hot when it arrived and tasted great! Lots of flavour and fresh! Definitely order again and recommend.

Cozy little restaurant serving extremely good authentic Thai dishes. Their menu is cheaper than other Thai restaurants I have been to, but the portion is bigger than that of many places. Very good value for money 💰

Excellent proper Thai food. Very good Tom Yam Goong (prawn soup, must be ordered spicy), Larb (spicy minced chicken), Som Tam (papaya salad), sticky rice and Tod Mun Pla (fish cakes). Good value. Recommended.

Visited in January. Very tasty food and much better value than the other local Thai restaurants. Good friendly service, a couple of slight hiccups but was brand new and training staff so no issue. Would visit again.

We went for a walk and came across this restaurant and decided to go for a lunch, looking for some local gems. Thai cuisine is our absolutely most favourite one with all the fragrant spices, fresh vegetables and seafood. We entered the restaurant and no one was there (neither guests nor staff), even though the sign was lit up "open". After walking around for quite some time and talking and making jokes that maybe it’s a self service or that they maybe forgot to lock the door and it’s actually closed, we decided to look for a staff. We called out and went around the back. Two employees were in the kitchen talking. After being sat down we decided to have calamari to start with, glass of wine and a beer. The calamari arrived looking underwhelming, but pub-quality-OK. However, you could taste the flour between the squid and outer batter (it was undercooked) and it was served with ordinarily shop-tasting sweet chilli sauce. At this time we were quite underwhelmed with our experience but still positive and quite excited about our decision to have an unplanned lunch out. As I love fresh fish and Thai cuisine I’decided to have a whole sea bass with spring onion, red and green peppers in home made sweet chilli and my partner decided to have chicken in red and green peppers and pineapple in home made Thai sauce sauce. As the menu didn’t provide any side dishes options (apart from rice) I’ve asked if I can have a side of nice seasonal vegetables with my meal. My partner ordered a side of rice with his chicken. When our dishes arrived we were presented with two deep fried options that looked almost the same as the calamari. The chicken was just chunks of very dry battered bits that were so thin that you could barely see the dry meat when broken down. My sea bass wasn’t a whole sea bass as you’d expect from a quality restaurant, but two filets deep fried in not-so-nice batter. They were both unpleasant and tasting like it’s been just cooked from ready-made-shop-bought-frozen, not prepared fresh. The small bowl of rice was really unpleasant too, dry and lumpy, like it was cooked a long time ago and microwaved to order. The entire meal (both of them prepared in identical way) was just deep fried, battered, dried out at the centre of the plate, sprinkled with shop tasting sweet chilli sauce and few bits of chopped raw pepper on top that looked just to be a part of the sprinkled sweet chilli sauce.. It was the most disappointing and underwhelming look and sadly also awful taste. The side of vegetables that we ordered with our meals were only few slices of raw tomato and cucumber.. if the extra slices of cucumber and tomato were not on the plate, the £15 priced fish was only deep fried filleted sadly looking sea bass and £9 priced few tiny chunks of battered chicken, that was few millimetres thick under all the unpleasant batter. It was like buying a very bad frozen food and preparing it very badly. It was so disappointing that it was almost ridiculous that this was served in a restaurant. The waiter was very friendly and really lovely and attentive but couldn’t speak much English and the manager wasn’t in so we just could not ask or discuss anything (we tried) to allow them to rectify it. After forcing it down as we would be paying for it and were hungry after our walk and also had no chance to discuss anything with a member of staff, we just wanted to leave and forget that experience. I was hoping the restaurant at least takes TN Card so we could have some discount of this awful meal. The waiter called his manager on the mobile phone and gave me the phone so I can ask about it myself. I was told on the phone that sadly no TN card discount is now available. We are eating out quite regularly and had various experiences, mostly great, but sometimes quite average or rarely - poor, but we have never felt that the meal was that bad… I have never eaten anything that bad neither in restaurant, nor home cooked or even from a cheap take away or microwaved ready meal. We were utterly disappointed and really surprised that the food that is of such low quality, is actually sold in the restaurant. We try to support local small businesses, but will certainly not be back there.. even for free.

We tried this new restaurant as it’s within walking distance from home, and was not disappointed. The service was welcoming and friendly with a good atmosphere and drinks selection, including cocktails. The food was excellent . We all chose different starters and mains, I’d recommend the Thai salad and the fish cakes starters, but all the food was perfectly spiced, and cooked to our taste ie medium, mild etc We were a table of 5 and had a good drink too, all of which came quickly and with a smile! Would definitely go again and would thoroughly recommend.

Takeaway Calamari, tempura prawns, green chicken curry. 1st they forgot to put the 2nd curry on the order and they’d run out of prawn crackers. The starters were average, and the sweet chilli sauce was so watered down it wouldn’t stick to the starters and just ran off. The chicken curry wasn’t spicy and tasted of aniseed. We really felt ripped off by this meal and will not be returning

Absolutely superb. A bolig order for 9 people on a Saturday night. All piping hot. We all had different dishes and they were all excellent.

Really really delicious food, we’re vegan and they supplied a stunning massaman curry, and pad Thai that was deeeevine. Large portions. We picked up the takeaway but they do deliver most of the time, and the restaurant looks lovely so next time we’ll dine in :)

We had a delicious delivery of chicken Satay, pork skewers, chicken green curry and sweet and sour king prawns with rice. Delivery was swift and without issue, the meal was hot and freshly cooked. We would definitely recommend and will order again. The vegetables were crunchy and the sauces tasty, portions were generous and tasted so fresh.

Ordered for delivery by Just Eat, the delivery was fine, but the food was awful. The only decent thing about the meal was the chicken satay, which was delicious. However, the rest of the starter platter was disgusting and dripping in grease, and the prawn toast was both burned and greasy. We also ordered two pad thai's, these were also very greasy, leaving a residue on the lips, and I had to leave mine as it wasn't at all nice. Overall a waste of money and not very good food at all. Perhaps it is different in the restaurant itself, but I definitely wouldn't order again. Such a shame.

Had a takeaway never again I eat enough Thai food to say it tasted like watered bovril in beef that was just the grawpow Thai salad missing rice was awful and one hard lump that never separated! and Tom yum looked like dishwater minus its coriander…. Gutted never even got a call back

For a soft opening and not having everything on the menu it was pretty good. Good service, food tastes good. I recommend.
