Tiny yet perfect, this Sushi restaurant is well worth a special trip. Beautiful platters of delicious sushi are served quickly and with grace. Highly recommended but best to book in advance.

Hands down one of the best resturants in Tunbridge Wells. Make sure to book ahead of time on the phone for peak times. I will never forget the first time I ate here, the food was so delicious, me and my friend didn't talk because we were so engrossed in each delicious mouthful. I wish I discovered this place earlier. This is now one of my favourite places to visit for a special occasion meal.

I have been here many times dining in and taking out, to the point the waiter actually knows our order, embarrassing as it may be, it has been the most consistent, reasonably priced sushi with highest quality I have had in the UK. I couldn’t recommend this more, however they are extremely busy every time they open (for good reason) It is a small place but they output so much food and all of it is fantastic quality and very very fresh. Even if it was in a larger place I have no doubt they would be as packed as they are. Portion sizes are great and I look forward to coming here every time.

A fab little place with amazing food. We've had sushi here a few times and always leave full up and happy. Canteen style dining so it's no frills on the atmosphere but totally worth it for the amazing food.

Lovely place to eat or grab a takeaway from. Love the ramen especially with the chilli base. Braised pork noodles also great. Ichiban set fantastic if you're after sushi. The Green dragon roll is amazing. Corkage fee for your alcohol needs but I like that as I get to choose my wine before I go!

This is a small restaurant. Make sure a table is pre-booked as a walk-in is almost impossible.

Absolutely fantastic sushi, couldn't recommend this place enough. But there aren't many tables so definitely book a table. Staff were friendly and there was a great vibe in the restaurant.

This is my updated review on this place and is still the same absolutely OUTSTANDING, my favourite restaurant and is my favourite place to go to on a weekend, everything is just amazing and the sushi is amazing. I very highly recommend this place to anyone in tunbridge wells or near!

I used to be a fan and a regular customer. I won’t be going again. On two successive occasions now, getting takeaways something odd has happened. This is that those who ate the food and I had a sleepless night. It was as if the food had caffeine as an ingredient.I repeat: this was on two occasions and was not just me.The other thing was that we ordered spring rolls and were given an item that looked like samosas that I do not think was in the menu.I used to enjoy the sashimi but did not enjoy it this time. It may be that my tastes have changed. But I think more likely it is not as fresh as it has been in the past.

Always top quality lovely food here. It can’t be faulted. We eat here once a month and always great.

Have eaten from here a few times. Haven't tried the sushi yet, next on my list. But have had most of the sides and noodles and terriyaki dishes. All very nice food

Best Sushi ever!We love getting our sushi at Kitsu and Kiko. They adapted so well to the pandemic with their takeaway service and the staff and customer service are always super lovely and friendly. The quality of the sushi is also the best we had so far (and we have tried many different sushi restaurants)

This is my go to sushi place. I sometimes get a takeaway but if you sit in at lunchtime you can get an incredible value lunch special. Choose from tens of types of sushi to make a platter or have a small sushi starter and larger main course such as rice or noodles and all for under £12 it's amazing

I can honestly say I have never eaten better Sushi than Kitsu. The combination and quality as well as the price is perfect. I have eaten at a fair number of local places and in London and these guys get it so right. They have worked so hard over the years to build the reputation and have recently undergone a refurb and opened another restaurant at the bottom of town. I can not recommend it enough.

Don't eat Sushi enough but this place was awesome, visited friends and the food was fresh and tasty! highly recommend

Sushi isn't my strong point, so as I stated confusedly at what to eat the staff were patient and friendly with my relative inexperience. The food was delicious, the tempura soft shell crab especially. It was thoroughly enjoyable

I had heard that this restaurant is small. It only has five or six tables. As I entered the restaurant it was easy to see that it was full. I asked if they do take away. Yes they do.The menu is a compendium of all things sushi and Japanese food. Take your time exploring the possibilities. I had a rice and chicken dish together with a beef and vegetable miso soup.Even though the restaurant was full, it took under ten minutes for my order to appear. The food was delicious.A word of caution. Kitsu only accepts cash. No debit or credit cards accepted. The restaurant has a small selection of soft drinks. If you want to have a beer or wine, bring your own.All in all Kitsu is a real hidden gem. Excellent.

My husband and I popped in here on a whim, as we had been told lots of good things about it. It was a weekday, and it was early (we got there as soon as the restaurant opened for dinner). I am glad got there when we did: there was a table available, but it would only be ours for an hour.

In and out in half an hour after eating the excellent value £13.50 lunch menu. Portions are slightly smaller than the old lunch menu, but that is fine with me as this is the first price increase in six years. I've paid three times as much in London for less food, of poorer quality.

I've been going to this restaurant since it opened as i love Japanese food and they've always got it so right in the past. They've recently had a refurbishment so we were keen to visit and check it out. it's very small and it seemed to us that they'd crammed even more tables in. The new decor, however, looked great. We had a lovely meal and as usual all the food came out at once. The restaurant was busy but not totally full so imagine our horror when the waitress came over, handed us the bill and informed us that they needed the table back. I was still drinking my tea, we'd spent over £40 on lunch in a little over an hour and we weren't even allowed to digest it. A sure sign of a popular cafe becoming greedy ... even the people at the next table thought it was disgusting. How sad

First time I have eaten here and first time I had Sushi........OMG fantastic food, beautifully presented and amazing flavours. I am really looking forward to my next visit.

We've been to Kitsu many many times, this was the first visit since the refurbishment and it's definitely looking smarter than before but with the same excellent quality and great selection of many Japanese foods and very good sushi. We felt that the service was really a bit too quick (first time ever this has been the case), no sooner had we ordered than our food arrived. This might be because they weren't as busy as usual, and it made our evening there feel a little bit rushed which was a bit of a shame.

It's so hard to get good sushi outside of London, but Kitsu has it covered! Delicious sushi, lots of choice and really reasonably priced! It's quite a small place, so I'd recommend booking to make sure you get a table. 2 things to note, it's BYOB (£3 corkage for bottle of wine, £1 for bottle of beer) and you can only pay in cash.

I have tried the sister restaurant Kiki on LONDON road but it does not touch Kitsu standards. Kitsu competes with the sushi I have in Mayfair, London. Top quality and perfectly presented. love it

Following the refurbishment, Kitsu now looks as good as the food tastes. We went there for my younger son's birthday, carrying on a family tradition of celebrating birthdays there. Food was as fantastic as ever, and the place looks amazing.

Been getting takeaway from Kitsu every now and then over last few years and the food has always been good. On the day of our anniversary decided to treat ourselves to a night in with a sushi order. Food picked up and laid out on the table, we were happily tucking in when my wife saw a short dark curly hair in one of the pieces. Enough to put us off. Real shame as I love their food but it's kinda put us off future orders.

So fresh and quick to come. Great value for money, too. We had the Ichiban set; 28pcs for £22.50. Very filling and perfect selection. Extensive menu with noodle and rice dishes too. Temaki hand rolls a little stodgy and seaweed not as crispy as we’d like but still tasty. Only real let down is the physical restaurant - rather squished and intimate and lacks ambience. Apart from that, definitely recommend! (Don’t forget is BYOB and cash only).

Best sushi I know, fresh and so well done. I eat a lot of sushi around the world and this is still my favourite choice. Of course the restaurant is simple and it lacks atmosphere, but hey, for such good Japanese food you are in for a treat!!! We are regulars. Need to book though! It gets busy and it is a small place. Excellent Gluten free choices too! Even tempura. Our favourite dish: The green dragon

Visited for the first time today and really impressed with the lunch menu. Husband had 2 courses for £10 with chicken teriyaki main whilst I went for the sushi selection (tons of choice) for £13.50. Jasmine tea with free refills for £1 each so excellent value and everything was very tasty.

This is a wonderful restaurant. If you want fancy surroundings you might want to go elsewhere. If you want excellent food without fuss and fairly priced then don’t hesitate in heading here. Introduced by friends and very glad we were. Well done to all the team and staff involved.

Have eaten here many times and never been disappointed. The staff are friendly and efficient and the food is freshly prepared and delicious. The Ebi Tempura is delicious, always crispy and generous portions and the Bento boxes are excellent value. We will be returning.

Leave your fanciness at home, and go and enjoy proper sushi at this pseudo hole in the wall eatery located, rather unassumingly, behind Fenwick and near the car park. It's BYOB arrangement means you can bring your favourite bottle of wine or beer to sip alongside sushi.

Kitsu is one of my favourite restaurants of all time. It is superb value for money, the food is always exceptional and the staff are terrific. I come here at least 3 times a month and I’m constantly amazed and the quality of care put into the food. It is B.Y.O and only excepts cash payments but the short stop to the ATM is well worth the visit to Kitsu.

I have been here twice now and both times have thoroughly enjoyed the sushi! There are so many vegetarian options which was my main reason for coming here. The first time we had sushi as a ‘starter’ then had a noodle dish as a ‘main’ but the second time we decided to just have the sushi as it’s just so tasty! My boyfriend and I both shared the avocado and cream cheese dish and it was one of the best vegetarian sushi dishes I’ve ever had in my life! We also shared the vegetarian mixed sushi and a few other smaller dishes! The sushi is excellent value for money especially as it is one of the only sushi places in Kent!

I have come here for all sorts of occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, just walking past and I’ve loved it every time. The food is great, everyone in there is really friendly and it’s great value for money. I’ve never left this place without a smile on my face and a full belly! It’s definitely one of my favourites.

The sushi was reasonably priced and was one of the better sushi I have had in the UK. However, the soup udon and the egg fried rice were slightly bland in taste. Under the sashimi section, the amaebi (raw sweet prawn) is a MUST try. It is very fresh and delicious. The shop is a little small, thus the tables are cramped. They don't accept card, so make sure you have some cash (there is an ATM just a few minutes away) upon payment.

Nice and cozy. Prompt service. The food quality was good. Was recommended according to our palette and we enjoyed it.

As someone who regularly reviews on Tripadvisor, I remain staggered that Kitsu is still only rated #15 in TW - this place is seriously under-rated. The food is always fresh and excellent quality and the 'take your own' alcohol makes this place great value in comparison to the £20 a bottle elsewhere! But book ahead - its a tiny place and is almost always turning people away.

Had not booked. Went for a quick bite to eat before driving home. We were given a one hour time-slot - not a problem.

Been to Kitsu Tunbridge Wells many times and it never fails to impress, the fish is so fresh and consistently tasty, the huge variety on the menu also makes it more enjoyable as you can always try new things! My favourite pieces are the Temp Sake Maki and Chicken Katsu Utamaki. Good service and bring your own booze make this a very good sushi bar, will be coming back soon.

Had a fantastic meal with friends. Great selection of food at very reasonable prices. I had one of the specials from the blackboard - salmon katsu - and it was one of the best things I have tasted in years.

My wife and I got a babysitter and went for some food and a movie for the first time in forever. We chose Kitsu because we wanted sushi. I saw that Kitsu got pretty good reviews, so my expectation was high. And man, did they deliver !! Some of the best sushi I have ever had anywhere ! We got a little bit lucky, since we did not have a booking, but they managed to squeeze us in. TIP: Book if you want to go here ! It is small, with not a lot of tables. Or else, order some take away. Really awesome food. Thanks Kitsu !! We'll be back

Delicious food and nice service but very cramped eating spaces. Regardless lovely meal and service! We didn't plan on coming here originally but glad we did!

I will never be tired of reviewing my visits to Kitsu, the best japanese restaurant in at least 100 miles. My family and specially my daughter’s favourite, fresh food (always), it can’t be more tastier, because is just amazing, and great service and management. as always will back again and again, and one thing i can’t understand some of the bad reviews are just nonsense.

Not sure why I had not tried it before... excellent choice of food. We took the set lunch menu: £9.90 for sushi and teriyaki. All delicious! Very nice staff and good service which was surprising after reading some of the previous reviews. Highly recommend it. It’s tiny and not for a date night but perfect for a quick lunch.

After reading all of the amazing reviews for Kitsu I thought it would be a great place to visit , how wrong was I . Once receiving the duck spring rolls they were inedible as the meat was disgusting , hard and full of hard bits. Once flagging down the waitress she offered to get another however once finishing my dinner which was okay at best I was not in the mood for more food . At the end of the meal and once we had received the bill I was unhappy to see that they had not taken the rolls off the bill . I asked if they would remove it and they refused at first , then the manager came to the table and spoke to me as if I were stupid and asked if I had ever eaten duck before an that duck should be like that....”full of gristle and inedible” okay well that’s new to me. So finally I would defiantly not recommend visiting kitsu and will never be returning.

Food is always great, but last week it was the best ever. A true delight. We have been regular visitors throughout Kitsu's time in TW and we will keep coming back!

I have been to this awesome places several times now and it never disappoints! The sushi is incredible! Sooooo tasty and mouth watering! I recently took my partner here and he loved it too so we will definitely be back for more!

We often eat in or take out and are never disappointed. The decor is simple and basic but we quite like this. You can bring your own wine and the food is always beautifully fresh. A huge menu so need to spend time perusing it. The staff always happy to help explain some of the Japanese terms and dishes.
