Visited this wonderful little gem for lunch today with friends. We try to meet here monthly for a Prego fix! Dave and Mandy work flat out but still have time to make you feel like 'special customer's '. The food is to die for and cooked on site to order even a take away box if you are over faced! The only negative is parking which applies to all of Stockbridge. We will be back soon.

Popped in for lunch and chose from the set menu offer. Food was of high quality, and the service was swift. Had pork schnitzel with peppercorn sauce, this came with grenadier potatoes and crisped carrots. Sat well on the stomach Pudding was a lemon tart with blackcurrant sorbet. Slid down well with a good balance of flavours.

A random find but what a fantastic piece of luck. 4 adults and 4 kids enjoyed a brilliant Saturday lunch, great menu choices and the food that arrived was fabulous. Very friendly service and always on hand to answer questions and grab more drinks. 5 stars!

Visited the White Hart with friends and family on Saturday 28th September. On arrival we were greeted by friendly bar staff, ordered drinks and took a table where we were given our menus. After this it steadily went downhill. We ordered 3 Steak & Ale Pies, 1 Burger, 1 Caesar Salad and an English pea Ravioli. We sat drinking and around 20 minutes later were told sorry, there are no pies. Disappointing that this wasn't already told to us at the point the menus were handed out, service staff should know what is no longer available for customers to order. Moving on we subsequently ordered 1 Burger, 1 Bacon Chop and another salad. 5 minutes later we're told sorry, we don't have any Bacon Chops... Not going well is it! 1 more Burger added to the order then and we wait for our food to arrive. After what seemed like another 1/2 hour wait the food started to come through. Burgers looked good and the chips were honestly cooked really well, but they were supposed to come with Kohlrabi Coleslaw. If you've ever had this type of slaw it's usually a vibrant mix of vegetables with a delicious complimentary dressing. What arrived for us was a pot of plain grated vegetables. No dressing, just a bowl of grated carrot, maybe some cabbage and onion, it was hard to tell as it just looked unappetising. Then the English Pea Ravioli arrived. Honestly I wish I'd taken a photo of it. The presentation was awful, 4 dry unappetising parcels of Ravioli with a load of probably frozen peas scattered over it. The salad looked brown and i'm not sure there was a hazelnut to be found amongst it. We asked the waiter if he thought it looked appetising, even he couldn't gather the words to apologise. Next to arrive was the Caesar salad, and another wish I had taken a photo moment. The most pathetic dried up gnarly pieces of chicken sat on top of what looked like a nasty sloppy mess of a salad. Honestly I don't think any words could explain how bad it looked. Promptly sent back to the kitchen and again, this time the waiter agreed that he could see that this was not going well. We'd been there almost an hour now waiting for food and seeing this disaster unfold before us. The extra salad ordered to replace the sold out Pies never arrived, which by now had us all bewildered as to what on earth was going on? Was it a bad day in the kitchen? The net result here was that the 3 men in the party all got their burgers, which were good, apart from the slaw. The 3 ladies in the party ended up with no food at all. Two were sent back to the kitchen and that extra salad that was ordered to replace the sold out pie... well that never even turned up. We informed the waiter that we would like to speak to the manager, that this entire meal had been a total disaster and turned what was supposed to be a nice late afternoon meal out with friends and family, into a really disappointing experience. We sat waiting at the table for the manager to come over for a good 30 minutes. Drinks were all finished and everyone was getting restless. In the end we had to go and find the manager at the bar. Our complaint was met with an understanding response. We were given the 3 Burger meals for free and obviously no charge for the food that was sent back or didn't arrive and we settled on paying for our drinks. Our hope is that this review of our time at the White Hart does not serve to put people off going. It's a lovely pub at the end of the village and the staff were polite and friendly. It's more as feedback for the Inn to up their game and look at best practice. Have the staff know what is and what is not available on the menu and let customers know that before they order. If something looks unappetising to the waiter, then it's probably best it doesn't make it to the customers table. But the overall thing that really started to make the blood boil was staff knowing we had a really bad experience, but we were left to sit for 1/2 hour and had to seek the manager out ourselves. It's a pub, we get that, it's got a busy bar. But when customers are not happy, that has to be the manager's paramount objective. To uphold customer satisfaction and deal with problems in a timely manner, don't make the customer come to you. We'd be back for a pint, but doubt we'd eat here again.

Went for a quick bite to eat Firsdown , always been a little expensive . Told when ordered would be 20 minutes after 25 could see no food was coming out of kitchen and people before me were still waiting . Even a family that had ordered a bacon roll were still sat with nothing … asked how long then left waiting for 5 minutes whilst lady checked to be told another 5 , which clearly was a guess . Asked for refund which was comical to watch as had paid with cash . Will not be going back to waste any our money or time

We were on a road trip and met family here for a lunch before continuing. None of us had been here before but I figured why not. Portions are MASSIVE. Food is good. I had chicken parm sandwich, mother in law had the chicken parm pasta, father in law had the Chefs special a seafood linguini and my son decided the patty melt was good. We could not finish it all. The staff was attentive, the place was busy, clean, friendly, and everything went well. We all enjoyed our food.

New owner is great. Lovely food, Lovely atmosphere. If I can recommend a meal or two Just look at the menu. Tried Most of them just few left to go. Mind you the Chicken dishes are very nice, but so are the Lamb dishes, Cold Mezze, hot mezze and the fish to name a few of my favourites. Not small plates either.
