The BEST vegetarian meal I've had in a pub for years! The Arancini with chargrilled artichoke, and mushroom and spinach veloute was absolutely delicious, packed with flavour. And the sticky toffee pudding was light and scrumptious! It's so nice to go to a pub/British restaurant and have good veggie options, so many places lump vegetarians in with vegans and offer fake meat or boring flavourless vegetable dishes. The service was excellent, really friendly staff. Very doggy friendly, they brought a little bowl of treats for the dogs. Lovely pub, thoroughly recommend it!

Found the place by accident. Was warmly welcomed, although it was midweek lunch time so it was quiet, hence there wasn't much of an atmosphere. The lunch menu had a nice selection of starters, mains, and sandwiches. The sandwiches had some nice flavour combinations that were above your typical pub grub (one of us had smoked trout with creme fraiche). We thoroughly enjoyed the high quality food, and it was very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend to anyone.

The food was excellent as was the menu. Their chef is doing well here. Higher price point. The table service did not meet expectations. Booked in advance but no table was prepared for us. Comfortable atmosphere. There was not facilities to dry your hands in the male toilet on this visit. Large garden to the rear, plenty of parking.

The food was very nice and well presented though too much gravy. The desserts in particular were delicious. On arriving with a reservation they seemed shocked and asked if we would be seated outside despite the empty tables inside and preference for indoors being stated on the booking. Staff were friendly and polite but we were not offered dessert after our meal and had to go and ask for menus at the bar. We then had to flag someone down to order and we’re not offered more drinks the entire time we were seated (2 hours). Both bar and service staff seemed inexperienced so I could forgive this if they were busy but they were not. Having to go to the bar to ask for things when service staff are stood around is not acceptable. A nice spot but service was poor and lacked any clear management or senior staff.

Visited the George Inn as a stop over to driving to Stonehenge the next day. I arrived about 16.30 to a vibrant atmosphere. Plenty of locals chatting and drinking, inside and out. I checked in and freshened up before eating. The food was delicious, hot and tasty. The dish very hot which is a plus in my book. The staff were young, pleasant and attentive. I had booked a single room which wasn't a bad size as it included an ensuite. I feel the enclosed ensuite would benefit from a decent clean and a new toilet brush and bin. The soft white towels were great and the single bed really comfy. On booking in I was offered cold fresh water for my room. There was also a kettle with tea, coffee and hot chocolate. During the evening the locals were quite lively and having a great time which is lovely to hear. I slept at the front alongside a busy main road, which didn't bother me as I prefer noise. I came down to a beautifully cooked breakfast with great local produce and vine tomatoes. I would definitely visit again.

The staff is extremely friendly and nice...We were well looked after. The rooms are bright and friendly... The food is excellent and tasted wonderful.🍻🥘🥗 The only drawback from my side is that the pub is on a relatively busy road at the time... This time too we felt very comfortable there.🤗

This is a mid range style pub next to a busy road. I wouldn't describe it as a smart, country pub but the beer is nice and there is an outside area. Our room definitely needed updating, it was a bit weathered especially the bathroom where the taps moved and the furniture was outdated and tatty. It was noisy from the pub and road with the window open. That said, the breakfast was very good and it's an excellent location for Stonehenge and Salisbury both of which are worth visiting. The bed was comfortable. So don't expect luxury just a basic but adequate stay for the area.

Best pub I have been to in ages. Fantastic service, really warm welcome from the owners and great atmosphere. My roast was delicious with the veg cooked just right. Really well set up for different occasions and needs. Will definitely be back again!

Great find on our way home. Much a locals pub and warmly welcomed. Helpful staff, great ale and able to order food. Proper pies (not a meat dish with a pasty top) and plenty for a takeout box. Definately one to visit again.

Had two roasts earlier today - Beef and Lamb the quality of the food was excellent, cooked to perfection and very well presented. Very friendly and engaging staff. We were recommended by a friend, we will definitely be coming back.

Done a different route home from Bournemouth a34 shut came across this pub ,glad we did best Sunday dinner in long time ,will be going this way an stopping here in the future

Went for lunch today with my cousin and we both thought it was fantastic! I live fairly locally and drive past this place all the time but have never been in until today, and now I'm not sure why I hadn't as it is so good I'll certainly be back! The food was absolutely delicious, all very fresh and an interesting but simple menu (and for a couple of foodies who make everything about the food, we were both delighted!). We shared some of the starters (the scotch egg, the asparagus and the fish cake, plus some yummy fries) and then shared a sticky toffee pudding which was so light I wish I'd ordered one all to myself! Despite trying to hunt one out they didn't have a peppermint tea for me, but were perfectly happy to oblige me with a pot of hot water so I could add my own from my handbag. We also really liked the crockery and the teapot/mug set. Lovely, friendly, unhurried but attentive service and a nice atmosphere, comfy seats and lovely and warm next to the radiator on a cold, wet day. All in all I can't fault the place and highly recommend it. Thanks for having us The George! We'll be back!

Just popped in for some food on our way home. Great pub - really nice, excellent service, very tasty food (we had the day's special, which was roast pork belly - cooked to perfection). It was well presented, clean and tidy. Good selection of beers.. Small car park at the front (there may have been more parking around the side/back).

Sadly I was there for a Wake, but we were will looked after. Also although it was snowing there was a log fire to keep as warm. Good food and a good choice of drinks

A lovely pub with great food and well kept real ale. A bit open when there are rowdy drinkers at the bar. Noise not really dampened. Only thing that spoiled the visit.

Lovely pub. Roaring fire. Unfortunately the pork roast dinner was very fatty but staff just brushed it off as 'that is what pork belly is like". After complaining a second time, a couple of slices of beef were bought out.

We dropped in on the way back from the coast. We were expecting pub grub but the menu was way better than that. A good selection of beers, wines and soft drinks. My partner had the rib-eye steak with huge chips and raved about it. The chef made the pearl barley risotto vegan-friendly and it was delicious. Portion sizes were generous and we were too full for afters. We'll visit again for sure.

Beautiful food and great location, very attentive staff

We went here for an afternoon drink and ended up having some food. We had the salt and chilli squid and some fries. Presentation was very good and was very tasty food. Chips were lovely and also seasoned perfectly with salt. Beer garden very nice and a sun trap. Small play area and lovely lush grass with lots of benches to sit on.

Stopped for a Sunday lunch on a long drive, superb food, great service. Couldn’t have picked a better stop if we’d planned!

Wow! Wow and wow! Cute place, great fresh food! OMG! How nice the food is in here! Not the cheapest place but it is worth every single penny! Had to wait a bit for the food but, again, every second was worth it! The size of the hamburger! And the portions in general (we had 4 meals, two adult’s and two children’s) are perfect. The kid’s chicken nuggets are actually made of proper chicken! Amazing place! We will come back! The only negative comment is (still no effect on the 5 stars!) the men’s toilet…a couple of tiles were missing or broken. But who cares! It’s just for the true picture of the place…

The pub it was great evening the service was really good BBQ price was ridiculously high you couldn't buy a bowl of chips unless you bought a burger or something else that was on the menu £12 for a burger£5 for a bowl of chips salad was free

Lovely little pub with huge garden ideal for family meals out. We were returning after we stumbled on them last year after being treated badly by the Apache café. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is delicious 😋. Not your average run of the mill pub food. Will deffo be going back

A large, but welcoming Inn, with a huge garden full of sun on this summer's evening. Inside is cosy and welcoming, as were the staff. The local dark ale was good (Hop Back Brewery) as was the food. Reasonable prices and some interesting items on the menu as well as the pub basics. A very enjoyable evening spent...thank you 😊

Really friendly landlord - superb garden size for the kids and we caught it just before it got busy; bonus! (Sunday at 2pm there were only a handful of people enjoying the sunshine). Lovely sandwiches too

Supercomfy Supernice. This place is instantly comfortable, clean, and cosy the minute you walk through the door. The cheerful smiling staff are fantastic and easy to talk to, and the main room seems to be one of those magic places that inspire casual conversation with whoever's around. The food, the service, the decor, and the room are top-notch. I stayed for two nights and really toyed with staying longer! Definitely recommend this place. I had a really lovely walk down to Nether Wallop and up to Over Wallop too. Lovely stream and lots of happy cyclists, families, runners, and even horseback riders were out and about too. A delicious part of the world.

Stopped for lunch with my wife. Our food was very quickly prepared and served. I had a seafood linguine which was absolutely amazing and full of flavour and my wife enjoyed an excellent cheese ploughmans. The food was well priced and the service was excellent. We will be back for more ! Visited again today and the food was once again superb. Probably the best sandwich and chips for miles !

Beer can be good, can be .... I've had good lunchtime snacks, but was disappointed back in Nov '22 with a Sunday meal with family group.

Great Food Great Service! We arrived at 7.45 on a Sunday hadn’t booked but the lovely lady in the pub accommodated us. We were shown to our table where our drinks and food orders were taken. We choose 1 Roast Beef and 1 Roast chicken. Food was prompt hot and well presented. My chicken came with stuffing pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese. All the food tasted lovely staff super friendly and accommodating highly recommend and will definitely go back!

Came in for sunday dinner around 3pm and although roast was really lovely the service is absolutely terrible. There was only one more table eating at the time. The waitress has been chatting away and standing at the bar on her phone. Took long time to take our order - we asked how long is the wait for the food as wanted to take our toddlers outside to play told “it won’t be long” - was over 30min! After waiting for ages for pudding menus had to ask ourselves and then been told “the kitchen actually shut already so I will have to quickly take your order”… in the end got up to pay ourselves to find out waitress standing at the bar back to everyone just on her phone - didn’t notice till another staff came and told her we are waiting to pay. Such a shame as the food was so lovely and has potential but won’t be visiting again since the service is so poor.

Food good, good portions, waitress service could be a little improved to be more attentive but on the whole a great little find. Will definitely be coming back

I recommend this lovely Inn to anyone visiting the area. Pleasant and welcoming with lovely rooms and a great pub with a large rear garden.

It’s grubby with dirty carpets, cobwebs and spiders, dead insects on the window cills. mould in the bathroom, stained blind in bathroom and the window doesn’t close so there is a draft. Clear glass in the window which is straight onto the beer garden! On a plus point the evening meal options were tasty served by polite helpful staff. However, it’s the local pub but I don’t expect a child sat bum first on the bar with their shoes on the bar too. The double bed was very uncomfortable and the wheels on the base stuck out so you catch your toes on them. Breakfast is continental to be ordered the day before only 8-9 am full English at an extra cost. When we left in the morning no one was around and the door into the bar/ breakfast area was locked, noons around so like the people who left before us we just left our key on the stairs and left by the door at the bottom of the stairs. So for us no we wouldn’t return after a very poor nights sleep and an extremely poor room for £90!

A great pub to cool down in after a hot days Gliding. PNGC now fly most weekends out of the AAC airfield at Middle Wallop, allegedly the largest lawn in Europe.

Working in the area I had the pleasure to stay here for a night. Nice spacious pub with large garden. I had the single room which was spotless with a great shower. My dinner was so good I didn’t want it to end. The staff were superb so hope to return if ever in the area again.

Excellent service. Lager was fresh and cold. Well served. Good choice of meals available. Spotless facilities. Lovely beer garden, well spaced out with plenty of tables. Child friendly. Friendly welcoming bar staff. Beer garden also has some covered seating. Free parking. Dog friendly with dog treats at bar and water bowls available. Some lovely trees surrounding the garden including a seriously impressive gum tree. Minor point - the beer tables are soooo low. Highly recommended.

The food and people are brilliant, we have had 6 great meals (including a few takeaways) in the 5 months we have lived in the village. The big problem is its a lottery if they are servicing food or not. I would suggest always calling and checking before going for food.

Very well run establishment...the food was cooked freshly...the George Inn was very well presented...I would highly recommend this place...the owner i presume was extremely attentive and on key with knowledge and detail...as a licencee myself (retired) couldn't have been happier with her service...Thank you.

Unless you want to wait 15 minutes for somebody to take your order and then to be told that you can’t even have a drink for another 30 minutes because “she has other people in line” just don’t go. Pathetic experience. 3 occupied tables inside.

We booked a table for two, food very good, I tried the burger and chips and it was really nice my wife had the Venison meal and she thought it was lovely, the only negative is the waiting time after you have ordered, it shouldn't take nearly an hour to arrive !! Real ale great, large beer garden, would come back again.

Not good !!! Freezing cold heating came on only at 4 am tiny radiator covered by large curtains chipped bath rusty non working radiator children unsupervised screaming in the next room breakfast was good but not enough glass of orange juice no coffee no fruit no pastries although emailed me twice before I arrived but did not mention extra charge for dogs which made the room more expensive pubs do not usually charge for dogs as they do not get anything owners provide everything their pet needs booking.com should make advertiser's state yes or no and cost unfortunately this made the cost ofy stayorr than I could afford
