We stopped here for lunch as our car was in the garage nextdoor. Fantastic pub with beautiful interior design. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend for friends, family massive garden with outside heaters. Can recommend the pizza's enough freshly/ home made 👍

What a super pub. We were driving home and saw this. Had to stop because it looked great. We were right. COVID safety was first class. Looks like they worked hard to do this. Bar staff were friendly and attentive. The beer was good and the general vibe was excellent fire pits and great music. I only wished we lived nearer. Thanks for a good time. Well worth a visit.

Went for a surprise Sunday lunch (first one after lockdown 2.0), sat down outside by polite and friendly waiting staff, very helpful with my 2 year olds drink order and that's about the only good thing. Ordered the sausage roll with hp sauce for me, my wife and my daughter to share, it arrives stone cold and undercooked, sent it back to the kitchen and then heard rather loud and clearly from the Cook/owner "THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, IF THEY DONT LIKE IT TELL THEM TO LEAVE", I then raised this comment to the waiter who blatantly lied to my face and told me it was about unruly customers from last night, to which me and the wife promptly got up and walked out. Now mistakes happen that's fine but how you deal with them and learn from them defines how good you are, coming out with the attitude that I am the big almighty won't work. Bit of addvice to the Cook/owner learn a bit of humility and learn to respect the people that pay for your living.

My family and I we're beyond eager to enjoy a meal cooked by Mark and Ellie, at their lovely pub and we were not disappointed. Starters we're divine and generous and so when our hot, fresh mains arrived we have to admit to struggling to finish!! The lovely barmaid/waitress was attentive but keeping socially distanced. It made you forget for a little while, what was going on outside. We cannot wait to go back and hopefully before long restrictions will be lifted!!

Had dinner with friends on Monday night and was disappointed that the first 2 choices made were not available, ie Plaice and Lasagna,If you are going to run a restaurant and it is not a large menu you should have all options available.I had the Venison, but the mash with it if I didn't know better came out of a packet I know it was a Monday but not a lot of atmosphere in the pub,The staff whilst pleasant were not trained properly Such a shame it should be a busy pub but this let it down.

I visited this pub with my family and on arrival we was greeted by a lovely waitress who showed us to our table and made us feel comfortable, so far so good, then our order was taken we had pizza, may I add the pizza was amazing. But then things started to go wrong, we was in a move quiet area,!and then the lady behind the bar put 3 men on a 2 table, now there men’s backs was touching my children’s back?? Then for the chef to come out and shout at the waitress infront of all the customers about something In the kitchen. Due to this I got my kids up and left this pub with out even eating our dinner.We are in a pandemic and this pub was awful and shouting infront of kids and customers

Just had such a great meal in the George inn! Long time since we’ve had such a lovely, tasty meal. I had the venison and husband had steak then the doughnuts to follow. The venison was so tender and flavoursome. Husband thoroughly enjoyed the steak. Such a shame that it was so quiet (although we did eat at 6). Deserves to be supported and recommended. Staff also very friendly. We will definitely be back.

The George Inn has recently been taken over by new management. The food is delicious. My friend and I ordered a seafood sharing platter which was very good quality and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

Had delicious lasagna here with garlic pizza bread my partner hah the duck pizza . Very friendly service

Stopped in here on our way back from the new forest, the boar and Apple burger was delicious and the lasagne was perfect. Lovely big garden so social distancing is no concern to anyone. Friendly bar staff who are warm and welcoming. Highly recommend.

Went here for lunch, friendly welcoming staff and a nice big garden. Let down massively by the food. The lasagna was incredibly bland, the watery ragu tasted like tomatoes, mince and an excessive amount of dried mixed herbs were chucked in a pan with no seasoning. when paying for a meal this is not the expectation. Sadly a 1 pound microwave lasagna is a superior dish to this 12 pound offering.Cannot argue with portion sizes here, they are very generous and the food had by other diners was fine. Doughnuts were very heavy, another disappointment,Garden is certainly a nice space but a few dog poos are littered around.Maybe other dishes are ok but I certainly wont order food from here again to find out. I am being generous as I am giving it 3 out of 5(average) as the bar/waiting staff were very good but food was poor.

We had a lovely meal here, started with a couple of Tapas which were great so we decided to go for the seafood platter to share too. Really pleased with our choice, the platter was fresh, extremely tasty, well presented and very generous portion size. Very friendly and helpful staff too who were doing a grand job of keeping up with everything.

I had a small single room which was comfortable and clean. The location is a little bit noisy, right on the crossroads but this did not affect my night's sleep. Both the evening meal and breakfast were very good.

We had a fantastic meal here tonight. Service was excellent and food was delicious It was very busy and we were happy to wait, sitting having drinks in the huge garden. But food came out in good time, big portions, great price. Loved the local produce too. Highly recommend

Very happy with my stay here. I travel a lot and stay in many B&B’s and I can say this is one of the top accommodations I have stayed in on my travels. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is very tasty.

We had heard that the George was under new Management and it was my fathers Birthday yesterday, so we thought we would book a table for dinner. We contacted them to book and to ask about the food, as there was no menu available online. We were advised that there would be steaks and tapas available on the menu, which we thought was great. We were all really looking forward to it as this was our first dinner out since lockdown and a special occasion. When we arrived, there was no one to welcome us, but a family eating at the side who shouted “we got customers”.We were then told that we were not booked in! Which did not seem an issue as there was no one in there apart from a couple of people drinking. The menu was extremely disappointing, with no steaks or tapas on the menu! We said that was the main reason why we booked here, to be told “well yeah we will do eventually”. We all settled for food we did not particularly fancy, and it was ok, nothing special. We asked to see the desert menu and I have never seen such a small unappealing menu! It had three choices and one was a rocket ice lolly! So we all decided against it, which is extremely unlike us.The family sat around were clearly the people running the pub and were very noisy, genuinely being loud. The children were running around near “the restaurant area” while we were eating. Which isn’t a massive issue, but new owners, opened just after lockdown, you would think that they would make an effort and present professionalism to impress and make people want to come back. The bar lady really tried to make us happy and did make an effort. it seemed that she was a bit embarrassed with everything going on and apologised. We thought she was the only decent part of the evening so we tipped her. Not being booked in, the lies about the menu, the welcome, the food and the menu choices and the unprofessionalism... I will definitely not be going back here, shame.

After visiting The Army Air Museum during half term we stopped here for lunch. Staff were really welcoming and very friendly. Lovely menu and all freshly cooked. Will be back with friends!

Popped in to try out the Sunday lunch after being recommended by a couple of people and seeing the pictures on the Facebook page. We risked not booking but that was risky as they had a good amount of tables in when we turned up so we sat in the bar area but that wasn’t a problem as the tables and area is still spacious and welcoming. We were seated and given menus straight away as well as a drinks order taken. The order was taken swiftly and we both opted for the roast beef. The beef was presented very well and the portion was the perfect size. The carrots were placed under the beef and all covered in gravy with a broccoli purée which was delicious. I haven’t had a roast dinner this good in a very long time, the beef was so tender and the whole plate full of flavour. We also decided to try the puddings because of the exciting use of so many different flavours. My other half went for the peanut and chocolate Pavé with caramelised banana. Despite what we initially thought this was not too sweet and was amazing. I opted for the lemon posset with berries which was very refreshing. Absolutely beautiful presentation, perfect portion sizes, amazing flavours, welcoming staff, landlord & family. This place is a real country gem. We will be back.

We stayed one night on our way to Bournemouth, lovely room and continental breakfast, we ate in the restaurant and the food was lovely with a nice selection of drinks at the bar, definitely recommend.

The George is a nice place to visit. It was not over the top and not trying to be something it wasn't. It did what it needed to do, serve food and drinks with a kind smile. You were made to feel welcome and totally relaxed. The food was good and my partner enjoyed the baked camembert for stater . Probably advisable you share one as it was a good size potion . The price was good for the food you received just a little more choice would have been nice. Overall a lovely nice experience and we were very satisfied. What more can you ask for. Thanks guys.

Me and my 12 year old son were on a sponsored 500 mile bike ride and we stopped off one night at the George. The room was clean and tidy and the service was good. When the landlord heard that why we were there he paid for our meal and drinks! The next morning he even gave me a lift when I had forgotten to pick up my bag! Wonderful hospitality! Thanks and we will be back next year.

Ordered ciabatta with cheese accompanied by salad and chips for myself and my daughter for lunch. Instead, we were each served half a bread roll with melted cheese on and nothing else. It tasted disgusting and made me feel sick. This was charged at £9 each. I argued it down to £4.50 each but I'd expect not to pay anything for such a lack of courtesy and complete indifference. I would strongly advise against eating at this place. It is a disgrace to the neighbourhood. No wonder it was almost empty.

On our way to kings Somborne we stopped at the Inn for a rest and a bite to eat, best choice we made. There was plenty of parking and on walking in the bar we were immediately given a warm welcome. We were seated and offers drinks, the place was impeccably clean, comfortable and fresh.We dint have to wait long for the drinks and there was a good selection on the menu. When the food promptly arrived, I had a cheese and pickle ciabatta sandwich with salad and fries, we were taken by the presentation. The fries were double dipped and crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, the salad was fresh and decorative and the ciabatta was only made that morning. Beautiful in every respect.I would highly recommend The George Inn, Hampshire to anyone and everyone, definitely worth a visit.

My wife and I stopped hear on the way home from our holidays and we are so glad we did! The land lady was very welcoming, the prices were good and the fish and chips were better even than the fish and chips served in the seaside town we have just spent a week at! A really nice experience.

Had a delicious Sunday lunch roast at The George Inn in Middle Wallop. The meal was fantastic especially the extra crispy roast potatoes. The Beef was tender and not grisly. The veg was perfectly cooked accompanied by a fruity pint of beer.

Not stayed here, but looked on your website, and it looks like a five-year-old designed it. Sort it out.

We dropped in for Sunday lunch on April 28th, on our way back from Weymouth to Hertfordshire. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the food was absolutely out of this world. We had our baby with us, and they were accommodating to her also., The pub itself is beautiful, with a nice big garden at the back.

What a difference a change of a chef makes... unfortunately, in the wrong way.

We arrived too late for the kitchen but the lovely chef made us croissant with jam just to keep us going after our drive down cross-country from Birmingham. So nice to find people who will go the extra mile!

Dropped in on the off chance of a table and were not disappointed. We had a drink and a meal. Our needs were catered for, the food was fine. The service was good. One little thing is that the plates could have been hotter, the food cooled down very quickly. We did not complain about this but had the plates been hot we would have given a 5* review. Complaining would have meant our food was removed during the meal and we did not want this disruption. I am sure it would have been rectified had we mentioned it, hopefully next time, the plates will be hot.

How could I have missed this place..!? I live less than 9 miles from here and have never been before but, what a place..! Courtney, the staff and Chef could not have done a better job of looking after our table of 7. We had a great evening with excellent food at very reasonable prices and served by a caring team who could not have looked after us better. We had a superb evening and will definitely be back to enjoy this place again, and again..!

Well where do I start? friendly warm welcome.as for it being a refebured pub it's very modern and welcoming. Food was great and my dog (Alfie) even got a treat from the owner would recommend for those who want to eat drink or sleep and not have the worries about leaving there dog alone there Welcome,I wouldn't normally write a review but this place deserved one five** ps look at there website

Thought we would try out a different pub for Valentine’s Day, we definitely weren’t disappointed... the food was lovely and all came in good time. Staff were all very polite and well dressed. The whole experience was fabulous, would definitely recommend a trip out if your looking for great hospitality and quality food.

Excellent service all around, from booking and arranging our menu including food for two gluten free friends. Difficulties with the seating plan i had planned had to be adjusted and sorted. Sam, the manager was so helpful and Liam the chef choice a great 2 course menu for us.

We had a superb Sunday lunch at the George. Beautifully prepared with fresh vegetables and perfectly cooked. The best Sunday lunch that we have had for a very long time. Imaginative menus, great presentation and warm, welcoming service. Lovely pub which has recently been refurbished . Log fire, outside seating and a huge garden for the children to play in . Amazing ' Shepherd Hut ' accommodation available in the gardens. We would highly recommend .

We had breakfast here today for 17 people. Every aspect was first class. The reception/ atmosphere was great and the presentation of the breakfast was perfect as was the standard of the food. A great start to our day.

We stopped here for lunch just before Christmas and were met by friendly welcoming staff. Nice interior, spacious, great Christmas tree! There wasn’t loads on the menu we could eat, being a mixture of veggies, and one gluten free. The chef was really helpful and we ended up with tasty food. Not amazing value for money, not tasty, well-presented and served quickly.

Nice looking place , friendly bar staff and can cater for a large booking. However I found the vegetarian option very disappointing. My partner phoned ahead 1 month in advance to make sure they could cater for a dairy free veggie. The chef had said no problem he will sort something out on the night. We had a little chat when we walked in and I mentioned I liked mushrooms , tomatoes, and veg. Off to a good start I thought.

We (4 kids, 4 adults) had a great Saturday night dinner. The staff were very friendly and talked us through the menu options, giving pointers for the kids too.

Having been away for a few days in Wales we headed to Hampshire on our way home - having called from Cardiff to see if there were any available rooms and being advised that we could stay over in VIP George. On arrival we sat in the bar for a drink before checking in. The landlord is very friendly and introduced us to VIP George - it was lovely and very comfortable. I would definitely recommend The George for the friendly welcome and will definitely go back.

This was not a cheap meal, ordered slow roasted belly pork, very tough, 3 small new potatoes and small portion of cabbage. The desert was banana pudding, sliced banana with caramel sauce and squirty cream disgusting. Not once were we asked if our meal was ok. £6.80 for a gin n tonic. Will not go back.

1st time being back here since it had been taken over. Very friendly welcome and great service from staff and landlord! We didn't eat this time but the food looked amazing so will be back! Awesome Gin selection so def will be back to try more! Highly recommended

Absolute farce. Booked an en-suite room for two nights to then discover the following morning it was a shared bathroom! The supposed refurbished room was far from it. The walls may have seen a lick of paint and a newish carpet, but the bathroom was far from fresh (plus then discovering it was shared for campers or something was beyond acceptance, especially as assured at check-in it was private)

Stopped off in torrential rain for a quick lunch before tackling the rest of the journey. Not too impressed at first sight, but was quickly and politely shown to a table. Rather curiously placed menu on a roll of paper on the wall. I chose the ham egg and chips and a pint of beer. The beer arrived quickly and was excellent and the ham, egg and chips followed shortly. Very good chips, a perfectly fried egg and several great chunks of really delicious ham - not the wafer-thin slices offered in some places. A little pot of delicious chiutney accompanied - I think it might well have been home made. Other diners were having what looked like excellent Sunday roasts.

Perhaps it was the chef's day off? My son had tagliatelle. Not al dente. Very salty. My friend and I had harissa fishcakes. The fishcakes were probably home made, then deep fried,not particularly healthy, but they were doused in harissa so every mouthful was loaded with spicy salt, why bother with the fish, you couldn't taste it!. We asked for sauce tartare. ~Sorry, we usually have homemade but don't ave any today, so you have harissa instead.. 2 fishcakes, some thin slighly flabby chips, not a smidgeon of greenstuff.The NZ sauvignon was fine. I paid nearly £30 for the tagliatelle, one portion of fishcakes.and the wine. Less stressful jjust to have torn up 3 x £10 notes. Never ever again.

The roads were busy and we needed a break and came across the George at Upper Wallop. There was plenty of parking and well maintained gardens at the front and rear and plenty of room inside to escape from the heat .

Stayed here overnight on the way to Southampton. Excellent value for money. Was able to do me a vegan meal without notice. (while my husband enjoyed a steak) Room was spotless and comfy bed. Couldn't fault it. Thank you.

Booked The George mainly because I needed a B&B; that took dogs. The barman was very welcoming on arrival and quickly showed me the room which was clean and comfortable.

Stunning Seafood dinner. Chef knows his stuff. New management have a little gold mine which they are polishing up nicely.

Fairly recently changed hands & clearly a new chef who recommended the mussels which we had as a starter & which were excellent - good portion served with very fresh bread. We then had the risotto which included scallops & prawns which was very tasty plus the duck with orange & spiced cabbage which was less successful. Excellent service but our visit was slightly marred by the eating area being close to the bar area which had a few rowdy customers.

Stopped here by chance. Very friendly welcome. Good menu choice which we were told changed daily. We had a salmon dish and a duck dish. Both delicious. As main meal portion was a sensible size we had room for pudding, sticky toffee, also delicious.

We had Dinner here on Friday night with a big group of friends. Would definitely recommend to anyone, the staff and landlord were all very friendly which made for a very welcoming atmosphere. The food was all outstanding and everyone enjoyed every mouthful. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

Vistied this lovely pub for lunch and was very impressed. Great atmosphere and delicious food. I had sea food platter which was top quality lovely crab and prawns etc. My partner had king prawn thai curry that looked amazing. The landloard and staff were great and atmosphere very relaxing. There is a very large sunny garden. And plenty of relaxing sofas.

Arrived unannounced and was warmly welcomed. Food ordered in fresh everyday so menu changes daily which I think is a fab idea as keeps it fresh and love the surprise of finding something new to eat or try and could eat here every week and have something different.

The George was suggested to us as a lunch destination by the garage next door, where we had gone to view a second hand car! We were very pleasantly surprised. The rather ordinary exterior gives way to a recently refurbished bar and restaurant area with lovely garden behind. Plenty of room to run around outside and a pair of robust climbing frames with slide and swings for young children.

We stopped by off the cuff on Christmas Eve and had a lovely meal that was good value and enjoyed by young and old, even the mother outlaw thought it was nice, must be onto a winner!

Arranged a works Christmas lunch for earlier this week and so glad I did. From booking the table, to paying the deposit and arriving on the day, I can’t fault the service we received. The choice of menu items allowed everyone to have exactly what they wanted on the day. A massive thank you to the staff

Somos gente (8 millas) que llama a comer para ver el jardín como un lugar posible para llevar a los nietos este verano en una comida familiar. La comida estaba recién hecha, patatas fritas, realmente buena! Y la opción vegetariana. Nuestro camarero era amable, y la comida llegó rápidamente, además de que fue una buena relación calidad-precio. Visitaremos de nuevo.

Popped in as a last minute decision. The best ribeye I've ever had (rare), it was delicious. Debbie and Sam were very friendly and we will certainly be going back again!

Nos alojamos aquí en una noche de viernes como lo eran debido a la corriente de pescado local chalk ese fin de semana. Muy amable. Alojamiento decente lo suficiente. Bastante buena cena y desayuno perfectamente adecuado. No es el Ritz, pero por £100 y se puede con cena y bebidas. . . . ¿Qué más se puede pedir! !

Me encontré con un amigo aquí en ruta a Salisbury. No estaba destinado a ser un punto de encuentro, pero como yo era temprano tenía un bocado. Una sopa y un atún de baguette. Ambos estaban deliciosos y el servicio era genial.

Visité este pub para un evento y lo pasamos de maravilla. El personal y la administración eran maravillosos, la mejor noche que he tenido en mucho tiempo. El edificio y los jardines son impresionantes, y hay un verdadero ambiente familiar. Muy amable y acogedor. Altamente recomendado!

Así desde fuera no habría sabido que venden comida y que no mejoran dentro! Lugar oscuro y lúgubre nada para comer. Fuimos al bar para ser servido por una dama joven y agradable menú estaban en un titular en el bar. El lugar estaba vacío y por suerte, ya que el tiempo era soleado decidimos sentarnos en el amplio jardín. Aquí había una familia comiendo. Aunque hay pocas personas vinieron para una bebida, pero creo que podían hacer mucho más del lugar. La comida está bien para lo que pagas, nada a destacar. Ir - no aunque el personal era simpático, debo decir.

Don't believe the 4.5 rating, this place is awful. We stopped off on our way home after using trip advisors nifty 'around me' setting. Oh look, said I, this place is on the road and rated high. Well, we should have left the minute we walked in but our daughter needed to eat - the place was mostly empty, depressing with dirty floors. Then our BLTs arrived. A slab of bacon shoved in a baguette with a sliver of limp lettuce. All in all a candidate for Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.

Went in for a quick drink, ended up staying for food, even though menu was a bit small, food was well presented and delicious. DEFINATELY GOING BACK BEST PUB FOOD IVE HAD IN AGES

Dropped in at short notice to find the pub almost empty. However, we were made to feel very welcome with some nice beer so ordered from the simple, traditional pub grub menu. The gammon, egg and chips was excellent, the baked potato with chilli and cheese was tasty and filling, all for a very reasonable price. Nothing pretentious here but good grub at a good price.

have to agree with other post in December, I was the other order, poor choice only 4 on evening menu ended up having to offer us lunch menu as the chicken option not available. Place was cold and no fire as no logs. Unless it improves dramatically won't be visiting again.

Not the same place I visited several months ago. The bar was cold, told could not have a fire as no logs. Ordered the chicken, no chicken. Had steak which was not good, had to ask for a steak knife as unable to cut with ordinary knife . Other order gammon, egg and chips. Egg was burnt on the bottom, gammon was more like bacon. Only filter coffee. Very dissapointed

Stopped off en route to Shaftesbury (Friday Lunch) , called ahead to check dogs were allowed (yes). Warm greeting by Henney and her team, just caught the kitchen open.. think they went over a bit for us thankfully. Best chilli nachos EVER.. Thank you for being so accommodating.

Omg. Found this gem through TripAdvisor and no surprise at all its on there. From the moment we went through the door we were both welcomed and impressed. Such a friendly reception. Decor is an eclectic mix of old and new, focusing on comfort. And the food was amazing. Feel so full and comfy I could fall asleep. Will be coming back again and again!

We were touring with family on the way to Salisbury when we stopped in for lunch. The Inn looked attractive and inviting. The Inn wasn't busy although the Barmaid assured us that they'd been rushed off their feet earlier in the day. The menu was extensive with a range of local produce available. We ordered and waited and waited for the meals to be delivered. The kitchen staff appeared to be in recovery mode from the earlier reported rush as the production was slow. When the meals were delivered they were solid, basic pub grub which the family enjoyed and cleared their plates. Would recommend the Inn for a long. leisurely meal when one is not rushed to meet a self imposed tourist deadline if the slow service was a norm.

Had Sunday lunch, it was a very good choice and nice to see Turkey on the menu outside of Christmas. I chose Turkey and it was a very nice, the vegetables were plenty and cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The only issue with the desert menu was there was too many nice deserts to choose from. I would highly recommend the bread and butter pudding. Well presented and was superb. I would highly recommend eating here

Just a fraction off the main road in Middle Wallop so easy to find. Not very busy when I visited for lunch but the bar staff made me feel very welcome. Offered me a taste of the beer before I chose which I wanted and made my sandwiches very quickly.Bread was fresh and overall it was lovely.Worth a detour.

Booked a table here as half way between where family living. Booked here due to good Tripadvisor ratings. Sadly disappointed with ambience and food. Large pub but empty with a small that wasn't going to warm room up. Only one bar staff seemed to know what she was doing for which I am grateful. The other bar staff didn't know what sherry was. Normal menu alobg side Sunday roasts. Opted for beef bourgnion which came with instant mash potatoe. Eaten enough of it to know fake from real. My sister's family chose the roasts and the yorkshire puds were pitiful. Only thing I did enjoy was the sticky toffee pudding. Shan't be going back. Disappointed

Stayed over for one night at very short notice. Was made very welcome and had a warm cosy room. Had evening meal which was liver and bacon and was truly delicious. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again if in the area or recommend to friends. Thank you for your welcoming and lovely service.

Saturday night evening meal with 8 other friends. I had the soup of the day which was vegetable followed by a curry. Chef came to the table to ask if everyone had enjoyed their meal and then asked specifically, "who had the soup and how was it", I politely suggested it wasn't very nice and that I was disappointed not to have the baguette the menu said that it came with. The Chef said, "he wondered whether he should have served the soup and the baguette got burnt at the back of the oven". No apology was given or any offer to not charge. The main course curry was bland and lacked any meat. Extremely disappointing food. No wonder the place was empty other than our party. I strongly recommend that you add a little more time to your journey and find somewhere else to eat.

The George has a really friendly atmosphere and you will always receive a warm welcome from Henny - the hostess with the mostess! First class food and some superb ales. What's not to like! And to top it off, they also have some great live music!! Visit today!!

This pub has had a variable history but the current landlord has done a great job. There is an extensive, reasonably priced menu, a good variety of beers, a huge garden and much more. They are also thoughtful and caring. We arrived on an evening when they were not offering food but they made us a meal anyway. If you ask for variations from the menu they are willing to oblige.

The owners at the George have worked very hard to make this pub a success. There is a menu with a good choice and the food is very good.Service is excellent and friendly. The garden at the back is very large and well maintained. In all a very good experience.

Stopped off here on much needed break after battling heavy traffic on long journey from south coast to midlands. Good selection of beers and extensive menu. Had some sandwiches which were ok, but took a long time arriving which was surprising given the pub was quiet. Not sure how they would cope if busy therefore. Did not really live up to expectations based on other reviews, but would probably give it another go if in the area again.

Been there twice now for a quick after work supper - good choice on menu and great service - atmosphere is a little quiet even on a Saturday evening but great if you want a chilled out evening - would recommend the massive plate of faggots and good portions of fish and chips and pie

After reading reports we decided upon this pub and we were not disappointed. The dishes from the special menu were very tasty and my wife decided upon the chicken salad, which she really enjoyed. Puddings were good but the cheese board was one of the best I have sampled. Service was good and the beer was well kept and worth drinking. I would reconmmend this pub to anyone and we will be coming back when we are next in the area. A bonus was that we could bring our dog into the pub whilst we were eating.

First time I have visited here in a long time as I live in the local area and was told the place had really improved. Had lunch here today and I can confirm the place has certainly improved beyond my expectations. The place is a perfect mix of old style pub with a modern twist with a nice open layout.There was an inviting log fire, casual seating as well as formal tables and chairs for dinning. The bar was well stocked with a good rage of drinks including some good real ale. Staff were very friendly the service was excellent.Menu was comprehensive with lots of good old traditional british favourites.I had the liver and bacon with onion gravy and mash as you do not often see this on most pub menu's these days. It was delicious with lovely rich flavours and I had no problem with clearing the plate. We brought our six year old who is not a fan of the standard kid items menu with chips. He asks if he could have sausage and mash and they had no problem with doing a child's potion from the main menu. The sausage they served up looked delicious and of a good quality and the mash was really smooth and creamy.My wife had a very nice pate starter and a chill jacket which she really enjoyed. Only wish our appetites could have stretched to a pud as they did have jam roll polly with custard. Heaven!Will be back again for that :-}All in all a very pleasant dining experience and highly recommended

Popped in for lunch and a quick game of pool with my wife. Pub is cosy with a log fire and a good selection of beers. The menu is simple with a short lunch version for sandwiches and jacket spuds. We had food from the main menu, which has a good selection of traditional pub fare and a supporting specials board. Unfortunately, they were out of chicken Kiev (my first choice), so opted for the fiery chicken burger and chips. The burger was tasty, but it was not 'fiery' so don't worry if your not into spicy food. They added a pot of spicy sauce for me to try to heat things up and I was not disappointed. The sauce was deceptively sweet then the heat built up to a lip burning level - very enjoyable.My wife had the chicken with a red wine gravy and she thoroughly enjoyed it. There was one problem, as the carrots had been boiled to destruction. However, once we pointed it out it was sorted straight away with a fresh batch.Pool table was £1 a go and well maintained. Enjoyed my beer and the staff were helpful and friendly. The pub has three hotel rooms, if you want to over indulge.I will be going again next time in the area.

I have been working in Hampshire for the past 9 months and The George Inn has been hugely welcoming towards me. There is always such a friendly atmosphere with a warming log fire and fantastic food. Now I am working back in Yorkshire I will recommend The George Inn to anyone travelling to the wallops.

Genuinely surprised by some of the reviews for this place.It's not the most scenic of pubs, the decor is dark and dingy - appreciate that the new managers are trying to turn this place around and it's certainly an improvement on what it was - but that's not saying all that much.When we visited, the food was mediocre and under-seasoned - nothing memorable or stand-out. I'm sure the locals appreciate the manager's efforts - hence the reviews, I guess? But if you're visiting Stockbridge, as we were, there are some other truly wonderful places to eat in the area - and The George can't begin to compete with them.

Picked this pub totally at random. Very welcoming staff, cosy open fire, food was great and plentiful. Definitely plan to return!
