We ate dinner here tonight. The food was delicious - I just wished the service could have been a bit better. Our waiter didn't notice we need refills on teas and water. With that saying, I would eat dinner here again.

Visited the White Hart with friends and family on Saturday 28th September. On arrival we were greeted by friendly bar staff, ordered drinks and took a table where we were given our menus. After this it steadily went downhill. We ordered 3 Steak & Ale Pies, 1 Burger, 1 Caesar Salad and an English pea Ravioli. We sat drinking and around 20 minutes later were told sorry, there are no pies. Disappointing that this wasn't already told to us at the point the menus were handed out, service staff should know what is no longer available for customers to order. Moving on we subsequently ordered 1 Burger, 1 Bacon Chop and another salad. 5 minutes later we're told sorry, we don't have any Bacon Chops... Not going well is it! 1 more Burger added to the order then and we wait for our food to arrive. After what seemed like another 1/2 hour wait the food started to come through. Burgers looked good and the chips were honestly cooked really well, but they were supposed to come with Kohlrabi Coleslaw. If you've ever had this type of slaw it's usually a vibrant mix of vegetables with a delicious complimentary dressing. What arrived for us was a pot of plain grated vegetables. No dressing, just a bowl of grated carrot, maybe some cabbage and onion, it was hard to tell as it just looked unappetising. Then the English Pea Ravioli arrived. Honestly I wish I'd taken a photo of it. The presentation was awful, 4 dry unappetising parcels of Ravioli with a load of probably frozen peas scattered over it. The salad looked brown and i'm not sure there was a hazelnut to be found amongst it. We asked the waiter if he thought it looked appetising, even he couldn't gather the words to apologise. Next to arrive was the Caesar salad, and another wish I had taken a photo moment. The most pathetic dried up gnarly pieces of chicken sat on top of what looked like a nasty sloppy mess of a salad. Honestly I don't think any words could explain how bad it looked. Promptly sent back to the kitchen and again, this time the waiter agreed that he could see that this was not going well. We'd been there almost an hour now waiting for food and seeing this disaster unfold before us. The extra salad ordered to replace the sold out Pies never arrived, which by now had us all bewildered as to what on earth was going on? Was it a bad day in the kitchen? The net result here was that the 3 men in the party all got their burgers, which were good, apart from the slaw. The 3 ladies in the party ended up with no food at all. Two were sent back to the kitchen and that extra salad that was ordered to replace the sold out pie... well that never even turned up. We informed the waiter that we would like to speak to the manager, that this entire meal had been a total disaster and turned what was supposed to be a nice late afternoon meal out with friends and family, into a really disappointing experience. We sat waiting at the table for the manager to come over for a good 30 minutes. Drinks were all finished and everyone was getting restless. In the end we had to go and find the manager at the bar. Our complaint was met with an understanding response. We were given the 3 Burger meals for free and obviously no charge for the food that was sent back or didn't arrive and we settled on paying for our drinks. Our hope is that this review of our time at the White Hart does not serve to put people off going. It's a lovely pub at the end of the village and the staff were polite and friendly. It's more as feedback for the Inn to up their game and look at best practice. Have the staff know what is and what is not available on the menu and let customers know that before they order. If something looks unappetising to the waiter, then it's probably best it doesn't make it to the customers table. But the overall thing that really started to make the blood boil was staff knowing we had a really bad experience, but we were left to sit for 1/2 hour and had to seek the manager out ourselves. It's a pub, we get that, it's got a busy bar. But when customers are not happy, that has to be the manager's paramount objective. To uphold customer satisfaction and deal with problems in a timely manner, don't make the customer come to you. We'd be back for a pint, but doubt we'd eat here again.

Greeted by friendly staff. Were able to sit with a drink and chat before ordering food. We each had a different main course and they were all very tasty. Have booked to come again and would recommend to friends. Easy parking at the back of the pub.

The food was overpriced and terrible. The things described on the menu are not what you get. My wife ordered a type of Mediterranean sandwich, which was, basically, a hot tomato sandwich, for nearly £10! My Greek salad was not a Greek salad. It was mainly made up of rancid rocket leaves. It had three tiny pieces of shrivelled cucumber, one cherry tomato cut into tiny pieces, one olive cut into even tinier pieces, and a sprinkle of crumbled feta. All that was £15. It was the worst salad I've ever had. I waited for the staff to ask us if it was OK, but they never did. I don't blame them, I'd have been too embarrassed. We were passing through on a very long journey, fancied a bit of lunch and left feeling ripped, disappointed and hungry.

What a great visit we just had! Our room was lovely - our free breakfast was more than we expected and all the staff all had smiles like they were all just having a great day. Gotta love that. I wish we’d had dinner there too — instead we went to The Boat House in Lakeville. Total mistake. I mean it was ok — but not awesome. Same for the 4pm drinks in the bar — wish I’d been there for that too! Anyway — we had a great visit.

Not particularly excited by menu so chose Rump Steak with peppercorn sauce. Steak had pretty much zero flavour, and was quite chewy - I assume it had been resting a while as meat not hot, but still chewy, and a steak knife should have been given. Peppercorn sauce very poor - no cream or peppercorns used - maybe from a packet as it was more like a so-so gravy. The mushroom that came with a piece of tomato needed to be pan fried - it had no depth of flavour and I couldn’t work out how it had been cooked and no caramelisation. 250ml glass of rose wine @ £14.60!!! This pub didn’t seem to be the kind of place that would have expensive glasses of wine. Then 12.5% gratuity added to bill - I asked to change it to 10% but didn’t feel inclined to pay that, though I did. Staff nice but service thin on the ground.

My husband and I have been to the White Hart a number of times over the years, but in recent years we have been only rarely and only for coffee because it has not felt particularly welcoming, especially in cold weather. There are two open fires in the pub and each time we have been there, neither fire has been lit and it has felt cold. Last evening we decided to try again and booked to have dinner at the pub. The outside temperature was 5 degrees and when we walked in, the first thing I saw was an empty fireplace. In past years there was always a welcoming fire in the grate. Last evening my husband and I sat with our coats and gloves on. I mentioned this to a staff member who was polite and asked the manager if the fire could be lit. I was told that the chimney needs sweeping. I think this may be an excuse s it is always the same. I ordered fish pie with vegetables. The accompanying vegetable was boiled cabbage with no taste whatsoever. This was inedible. We both had the mushroom soup as a starter which was very good. My husband had the pie of the day to follow which he was happy with. So, we're sorry, White hart but we will not be back. The atmosphere and food is in complete contrast to the Mayfly nearby which is also a Fuller's pub where the welcome is amazing, Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and the fire is always lit in cold weather. I have never had a bad meal there.

Booked table for 4 for lunch. Noticed very few staff. Finally got a drink and was told kitchen is closed for half hour due to large party. Asked if we could order anyway and was told no. When we did order food it took 30 minutes to arrive. Waited ages for plates to be cleared and another half hour to take desert order. Overall, food was very good, but service non existent. Not only lack of staff, but poorly trained as evident when one was asked "how long will the food be?" to which she answered " the usual time, 10 minutes". She clearly did not have a clue what to do or what was going on.

The White Hart Inn is an old building sitting right at the top of the Village near the roundabout. It is classed as the High Street, but it's literally on the roundabout and we ran out of High Street, looking for the place in the dark. It was on the turn around the Roundabout that I spotted it. Parking is behind the main building, and it can be tight when it's busy. I should have booked a disabled room because they are out in the courtyard at the back and have their own parking space. I didn't so I had to put up with fairly steep stairs, thankfully not many of them as the ceilings are low in the pub, and so are the stairways up to the 1st floor. We were in the furthest room called Piddle which overlooked the Car park, all the rooms had names on them, and I figured out by the 2nd day they were names of Rivers. We were next to the room called Frome, and there is Wylle: Frome River, Wylle River from the Wylle Valley, and they are all located not far from the river that runs up the high street in Stockbridge. They all join together somewhere as rivers do. Our room was very small, not what I'd paid for. We did get a Kingsize bed, the bathroom had a very tight door on it, really hard to open, and a walk-in shower, which was very good. First impressions it was clean and tidy and very, very small. The Ceilings are very low once again. The floor was a major issue. it wasn't flat it wasn't straight either, it had pockets underneath the carpet where there was only carpet covering the holes in the floorboards. They were soft and spongey, (after experiencing the same problem with our old bathroom carpet, I knew what it was covering - NOTHING!) The bed foot end is higher than the head end. The end of the bed sits on a higher plinth of flooring than the rest of the room. There is a big difference when you get out of bed and walk towards the Bathroom door, the whole room seems to be built like the Crooked House nursery rhyme! My partner had said, more like the unfortunate events of Lemony Snicket's Sister who lived in a rickety old house on the edge of the cliff above the sea! I could relate. There were no chairs and table to sit at, and there wasn't any room, this was a big letdown as we'd planned to stay in the room for one day to type up a story, but it was next to impossible because the desk that was there, was wedged into the corner and you just couldn't get to it, it had the drinks facility and the mini bar, there was also a mounted fridge on the wall, that looked like a bathroom cabinet. (nice touch) and a coffee machine with pods and coffee bags. Tea was regular breakfast tea and a few herbal ones. I think we used them all. We didn't ask for room service, so the bar didn't get refilled. No extras waiting outside the door. There was also a bottle of beer with a special glass and 2 bottles of still water in the fridge, with the tiniest bottle of milk, I've ever seen!? Needless to say, it only lasted one day and we didn't get that replenished either. I didn't get much sleep due to the room being totally wonky. Being on the main road the traffic does start up in the early hours of the morning and it can get noisy, so the pub gets deliveries too. I ended up the first night, sleeping upside down with my head on the foot end, due to feeling like I was suffocating lying with my feet up in the air. I slept better in that direction, but the 2nd night I didn't get much sleep at all, I couldn't get comfortable, and after breakfast, was very pleased to leave. However, the Bed mattress was reasonably soft-medium. I just couldn't get comfortable. Not the beds' fault, just my own. We had stopped there for a Birthday treat, my partner had his birthday on the Wednesday that week, so we took a short break that was a well-earned rest. As I was paying, I had to bring up the Roast Dinners, which I was told sold out regularly on Sundays, and booking is best (yet to be believed) We both got 2 dinners that weren't cooked properly or close to enough. The beef was like shoe leather, it had been cooked in a water bath. Roasting joints do not do well cooked this way, and it was thickly sliced. I couldn't chew it, let alone cut it. It was a nice pink colour, but the odd thing was, it was pink from the edge to the middle to the other edge, which gave away the way it was cooked originally. My partner had the Roast Chicken, and when he got to the bones it was raw. He didn't eat the raw bit, but I swear the rest of the meat wasn't cooked enough either by the time he'd eaten it. The veg was more than Al Dente, and if anything may have been flashed through a bit of hot water or a microwave for 10 seconds, but otherwise that was raw too. It was very disappointing because it was so expensive! There wasn't much change out of £70 that night for two people to have dinner and a pudding. After complaining to TWO People, the bill turned up with 20% taken off the food, no apology added, no explanations, - nothing! I'm glad they did something because the next part of the night would have been spent arguing about refusing to pay the bill. They have you over a barrel when you have paid by credit card for the hotel room. I would recommend you don't order the Roast dinner on Sunday, Be careful about ordering the half-roast chicken. Make sure the veggies are cooked properly because Al Dente they weren't. And I know how to cook, being qualified in it. This was not Al Dente, this was RAW! This place is also known to be a 4-star hotel, I would expect more from the dining experience. It is a shame, the bar staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, but they couldn't manage a complaint. I was feeling rather flat the first day so had a red wine to pick me up. It certainly did that! It was a Pinot Grigio Chilean wine from the wine list. It was very nice, but it did the trick as I only drink it for medicinal purposes. At least one thing that came from the bar that was perfect that weekend. There isn't much to do in Stockbridge, unless you like walking and hiking, even bike riding can be a bit hairy on those roads around it. Narrow lanes and sharp bends and signs that disappear on long roads to nowhere, so make sure you have the satnav with you or you will get lost. It rained all weekend, I even heard lightning really close to the roof in the room we were in. I'm so glad I wasn't in the shower! It is a dismal place if it rains. but lovely in the summer months. The room was warm, the radiators worked for turning the thermostat up and down and so did the bathroom towel rail. The only downside is, that when you use the bathroom and put the light on, the fan runs immediately and then you have to listen to it running for an eternity through the night because the door doesn't close properly. Or if you do get it shut, you still can hear the fan running, but you can't get the door open without brute force again. Remember the room name? It's Piddle.

Food was awful. I had the beef burger and my wife had steak and ale pie with mash. Firstly my burger, from the moment my burger was placed in front of me you can see the amount of water/grease flowing out the burger, so much so that the bottom bun disintegrated in to mush. Served with chips on plate, no salad, no coleslaw. It looked bare and tasted like a watery, beefy mess. Now, my wife’s steak and ale pie. Dry! The beef looked like a week old and took some chewing. No sauce in the pie itself, and the gravy tasted like bistro, couldn’t taste any ale of any kind. A real shame. Why am I leaving a message on here?? Because we waited over 35 minutes for our table to be cleared and gave up hope. We would have liked to done it face-to-face but now you deserve an online review. From the looks of other empty tables, they had the same treatment.

Stopped at a nearby garage and asked a local for directions to a good food pub and was directed to the White Hart. We were welcomed and looked after, by Rose, from the moment we arrived! The menu wasn’t extensive, which is always a plus in my book, as I would rather see a menu that a chef can cook well than a ‘war and peace’ menu that the kitchen can’t keep under control! We chose our food and all three of us were very happy with our choices. As a chef I looked at the presentation and quality and all was above expectations! I had the ham hock, which had a pineapple salsa that was sublime and pulled the whole plate together. All in all, one of the best pub meals I’ve had for a long time!

We stopped off for a light lunch. The staff were friendly. The table was pleasant in the outside garden. We ordered the Fattoush Salad to go with our food, (description online: Fattoush is a Lebanese salad made with toasted or fried pieces of flatbread, crisp greens, mint, radishes, tomatoes, and onion. ) - sounds nice yes? What we received was a seasonal green salad, no dressing, no pitta, no herbs or spices or mint,,,,, A small bowl of green salad cost £4.95. We did ask the staff if this was the Fattoush salad. We were told it was. It clearly was not but it was not going to be changed. I also ordered the crispy squid, which was served rubbery and not crispy at all. (I wish we had taken photos) Very disappointing meal, sadly we will not be coming back.

During a lovely dog walk along the test way we came upon the White hart. Although positioned on a busy roundabout the garden to the side of the property seemed quite peaceful, we decided to stop for a well deserved drink and bite to eat as it was such a nice day. The service was very slow and the barmaid probably the most miserable I’ve ever met. We ordered the signature dish of steak and ale pie to be told they didn’t have it so had to go for a second option. The food took ages to arrive and the fish and chips was the greasiest we’ve ever had. Needless to say we were very disappointed.

We stopped here for lunch on a Sunday and took a table outside, as they were full (we thought this must be a good sign) Sitting outside is quite noisy because of the main road and roundabout. Menu looked good and varied. £18 for a Roast Beef with veg which was pleasant tasting but a very scant portion and ‘scattered’ on the plate which made it look half eaten. The Burger at £16 was ok but not much better than you’d get in a fast food place. The chips, again ‘scattered’ on the plate, weren’t tripled cooked and were too salty. The burger pattie was thick but the non existent tomato lettuce onion or promised ‘secret sauce’ meant the burger was too dry in the mouth. You had to order and pay first at the bar so there’s no recourse if you do have feedback. When I asked where the ‘secret sauce’ was for the burger, the young waitress reaction was “I dunno.” I had a Bloody Mary which had a kick but was slightly too sweet. We wanted chocolate fondant which they had run out of. If I hadn’t asked what they did have available, the waitress didn’t say. Eventually arriving at a creme brûlée for £5.75 which was tiny and the top looked overcooked. The pub suggests it’s better than it can deliver both in terms of service and food. Too often places overpromise on a menu and don’t have the skill to cook it. For two mains, one dessert, a lager shandy and a Bloody Mary was £51. It wasn’t worth it.

Lunch here just before Christmas 2021, I learned they are not doing full service meals at this time, but patrons can order from their store and deli, be given a number, and have their food brought to a table of their choice. Service waa quick and polite. My partner had a panini with salami, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers and pesto. Delicious. He also tried their soup of the day, cauliflower, and had a Harney and Sons Earl Grey tea. I had a bagel with cream cheese, salmon, red onion and capers (choice of plain or everything bagel) and raspberry ice tea. I've made that cream cheese recipe for a long time on special occasions, so it was nice to eat it without making it. I was real tempted to get the roast beef sandwich, however, as the meat looked rare. Logs were burning in the main reception area and Christmas décor was festive. Always a good time at The White Hart. # The White Hart Inn has always been a nice place to eat and the destination for this area. I dined here often for years before it closed and waited for a new buyer. Dinners by the fireplace were always warm and elegant. As an Inn, however, it definitely needed some refurbishing. The new owner has done a great job with modernizing and redecorating the White Hart, while still keeping its historic feel. They've also added wall art throughout the rooms of sports cars for the Lime Rock race track crowd that often fills the place during events. My first lunch after reopening with the same friend I always dined with here, our waiter gave us a short menu of maybe a half dozen items. Food you'd order in a diner: Hot dog, Hamburger, Scrambled eggs, for instance. My friend was annoyed he'd driven so far for such simple fare. I understood but suggested we get something nevertheless since we were hungry. It turned out to be a joke of sorts by the Chef. Each item that sounded so ordinary, came to the table as fine cuisine with the ingredient ordered repurposed into something upscale and delicious. It was a pleasant surprise. Returning this week for an early dinner, the kitchen has changed this approach and returned to the usual detailed menu that describes their current food options, but they have still kept it small. From the bar we ordered two special cocktails (all priced @$14). The "Bitter French" and "Hemingway Daiquiri". We were curious over his choice of glasses for our drinks in terms of their size. A small champagne flute and coupe. I had a glass of sauvignon blanc with my dinner that was what you'll usually be served in a larger wine glass with a good pour. ($8.) Our waiter asked if we'd like some bread while we waited for our meals and staff brought us two slices of Ciabatta with butter on a stone slab. For dinner, my partner had the buttermilk fried chicken, red cabbage slaw and roasted sweet potatoes which came as thick fries with kimchi aioli. I chose the special of the evening, scallops with chorizo sausage, red onion and fingerling potatoes. Both were good and modest in portion size. Nothing to box up here. Dessert we rarely order since we're not big on sweets and we passed on coffee. Lunch is also available and is probably a better value for some diners. There's a take-out store on the premises, as well, for breakfast, lunch, beverages and things like local jarred products and books. As for those travelers looking for a place to stay in Northwestern Connecticut, it's a lovely property. Tranquil countryside, new rooms, large wrap around porch to eat outside along with tables on the grounds, and nearby attractions for easy going entertainment.

It was true New England at its best. The hospitality was superb. They couldn’t do enough to make us comfortable and at home. Dan and Jeremy were great. We loved provisions and the breakfasts made available to us there.

The White Hart handled a large memorial for the family yesterday. I was very surprised at how beautiful everything was inside after the extensive and historically sensitive renovations. We were immediately greeted by a member of staff, Connor. Throughout the night he was amazing. Whatever was needed, he and the staff were on it. The fires were cozy and comforting, the food was outstanding, the bar staff was strong, and the staff seemed to provide for every single need. Over and over, the guests, many of whom had traveled great distances, said to us, "What a great place!" An event like this is tough to pull off. What a great place to give tribute to the man.

Lovely dinner and we stayed the night as well. Updated and very comfortable rooms. The bed and pillows were very nice. It was sweet that we had a little deck outside our door with two chairs and a little table. We had our night cap right there. So romantic. The dinner service was right on. And very accommodating staff. A little pricey for the room.

The room door is facing the street like a motel. You need to walk outside the main building which has the front desk and cafe in freezing weather to go to the room. There are 6 rooms of this kind and it feels like we live in another hotel. They have rooms in the main building. People can't get this info on website or anywhere. This is not what I expect from a $250 per night room or a so called 4star hotel.

Went here for Saturday lunch. Our party found the lunch menu really quite limited including the list of sandwiches. The place was not overly busy but service was very patchy and fragmented and we frequently had to ask twice for things - having waited a sensible time before re-asking. So overall an OK place to stop but not one I would go out of my way to recommend.

Went to Bradbeers Restaurant Saturday 12th October, the food was great, the service was great but that is where it ends. The Restaurant itself was like going into a works canteen, not comfy seating, cheap tables set out like a service station and zero atmosphere - no music just very very bland. You get the feeling it was OK 20 years ago but it is defiantly not OK now. It is for that reason alone l will not be returning.

It's ok, it's a Costa..... Why are they always so dirty inside? Food remains on the tables, chairs & all over the floor, does no-one ever clean during opening hours? Given their prices for a drink & small selection of food you really do expect a bit more really.
