I was treated to an afternoon tea at Kimbridge Barn by a wonderful friend in March 2024. What an experience. We were seated in the window in the sunshine. Staff could not be more attentive and friendly. The food was delicious. The scones were huge - the size of a large mango - but beautifully soft & delicious and served warm. The sandwiches were scrummy, the ham hock mayo my favourite. The sunshine melted the sour cherry chocolate bar as we weren’t paying attention! It too tasted wonderful. Will definitely come back when the weather warms up. The package included unlimited teas and americano coffee. Would have been nice to include one special coffee like a latte for the price, but small niggle.

Great brunch place, excellent coffee and all the food is sourced locally which I love! The boot room is especially cosy for coffee and cake on a cold miserable day with its nice fireplace. Only downside (which isn't their fault) is it gets very busy at weekends so do book on advance to avoid disappointment as this has happened a couple times to us.

Very disappointing. A couple of years ago we went to kimbridge barn with th same couple the 4 of us really enjoyed everything about the experience. Last Saturdays visit could not have been more opposite. The staff I think tried their best but I feel their focus was on the wedding reception not us.Food was over priced and when we were asked about dietary needs one of the party advised they had an allergy to chilli The result was a 2 tasteless cheese finger sandwiches. There was a couple of slices of sausage roll. Some of the cakes were nice but the plain scones were so heavy none of us was able to finish them. When it came to settling the bill 2 of tge staff were unable to locate our bill on the till. Then when we presented our voucher it 2mtook 2 staff the insight managerand tge his off site 20 minutes to finally say we can't a cert your voucher. We had to pay GBP25.Later I discovered that a friend of mind had previously had a very similar experience. VERY DISAPPOINTING especially as it was a Birthday celebration.

I turned up hoping for a last minute table for me and my 2 month old baby. The lovely guy cleaned a table for me and helped me feel at ease with my baby. I had to feed her so I moved to a more discreet table, which he cleaned for me. Another lovely blonde haired lady got me water and gave me a pillow and asked the chef to have my food cut up! This is a game changer for a new mum feeding her baby. They made my trip so calm and pleasant which is very important as a new mum. They were so helpful and caring it was so refreshing to have intelligent personable service. Thank you!

My partner attempted to stop here for a coffee at 11.30 one Saturday recently and was not made to feel welcome. He was curtly told not to bring his bike near to the cafe and refused a drink unless he sat outside on a very cold grey day. Whilst there may have been good reasons for this, maybe to keep the frontage of the cafe clear, although there was no one else sitting outside, and maybe they had customers with reservations arriving shortly, but no explanation was given. Perhaps the food and the setting are very nice, although he wasn't given the the opportunity to find out. One thing is clear, customer relations and civility are definitely lacking and we won't be going back any time soon.

We visited here for lunch, having pre-booked a table. On arrival their computers were down but we were shown to a table anyway. The cafe area is very pleasant and a nice atmosphere. There is another room called the Boot Room which looked lovely too. We were given two sets of menus - a set fine dining menu and the other a normal menu. We opted for the set menu, as a treat, which was two courses for £26.95 or three courses for £29.95. Both of these included a choice of a wine or cocktail. We chose starters and mains and one main and pudding. The trout starter was lovely and the better of the two. The buttermilk chicken was fine but not wow For mains we had baked fish of the day - Pollock and venison arıcını in a sauce. We ordered a fries and a broccoli as a side. The fish literally came as a piece of fish and nothing else. So fish and broccoli it was. To us it seemed very strange that they class a piece of fish on its own a main meal ? The pudding sharer was lovely being small desserts to share. The food was tasty but it was definitely an odd set menu. Not a good deal in our view. My advice would be choose off of the main menu as the food seemed better value.

Super venue for afternoon tea. Delicious selection of sandwiches, savouries, scones with jam and cream and variety of cakes and pastries. (Far too many calories!) A choice of teas and coffee, as much as one could drink. What delighted me was the freshness of every single item I ate. Simply wonderful. Only comments from our group were that they arrived extremely hungry and it seemed ages before the food arrived. And a few of us would have preferred a savoury scone rather than a sweet one. However, suffice to say that we cleared as much as we could and were happy to take the rest home in the boxes provided.

Nice breakfast but overpriced £14 for 1 sausage, 1 piece of bacon, 1 hash brown, 1 egg and some very tough sourdough. Nice coffee, however the atmosphere isn’t welcoming and then to be told to leave was the icing on the cake! I appreciate there are guests to seat but I’ve not been anywhere where I’ve been told to leave especially as we were only 5 minutes over our “time slot” I’d seriously consider training your team in customer service, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere and review your offering. Disappointed. Booked for Sunday 11.30 hoping for brunch. Due to being stuck in mud trying to park in the car park we were 15 minutes late sitting down and told brunch not available, only the lunch menu at 11.45. All the food was disappointing - the crushed avocsdo on toast had inedible burned toast edges on all pieces. The kedgeree wasn't kedgeree but a soggy yellow curry-flavoured rissotto (rissotto rice) with a oiece of smoked haddock and a hard-boilrd egg laid on top, Bizarrely the table next door sat down to a full afternoon tea at 1.30 pm! The service though slow was cheerful but no good food to go with it. I live locally but sadly won't be going again.

To be honest, if I had looked at the menu before booking, I wouldn’t have bothered. There is no meat at all on the menu. Very limited choice of food wrapped up in fancy titles. The kedgeree was good but the tiny piece of haddock let it down. We had to go outside to a hut to get ice cream, which was lovely. Expensive for what it was. I recently attended the wedding of my nephew. The food served looked very nice but I unfortunately didn't get to taste it. The food was served on platters for four people. I was sat with a group of five. After the others had served themselves. I asked one of the servers, could you bring some more food as we were a group of five. I was looked at like I was stupid, and the next time I saw staff was when the plates were cleared. So I had no food. It's disgraceful, really. Also, the bar only had one member of staff and the queue for drinks was ridiculous, as was the price at £8.00 for a pint of the worst beer I have ever tasted. £4.50 for a 300ml bottle of lemonade.

Charlotte, was an awesome waitress, I've worked in the industry and trained waitresses and this young lady did well from start to Finish. When asked question she had the answer she then took our order and meals were served promptly and professionally. She did the return is everything OK with meals etc can't fault her so welldone Charlotte. Food was served quickly and tasted awesome, as well as the homemade desserts, this truly is a little hidden jem. A wedding was being held here at the same time and service was uninterrupted. So 5* around. I was in a wheelchair and staff opened doors and assisted me politely throughout. Only issue I had was a huge cobweb above me but no spider so ok lol. We tried the flat bread which was basically a store bought flat bread with toppings out of a can which needed no preparation, and for that we paid 15 pounds! As experiences go this never really got off the starting blocks. Once shown to our table we were greeted by waitresses who were ill equipped (no menus), ill informed (the only savoury options available were scones, apparently) and quite frankly smug and standoffish. Smiles were forced and insincere but we managed to hiccup through tea and cake the delivery of which seemed almost to be a nuisance. However, the worst was to come and on requesting the bill we discovered there was an obligatory service charge, and to add further insult to injury a menu of delicious savouries too. A fellow diner and I enquired as to why the waitress had denied that there were any savoury options on the menu and the response we got was, ‘ I don’t know’. A staggeringly disappointing end to an extremely lack lustre experience with London prices to boot.

Wonderful place found by chance when looking for a place to eat cake. With a modest for size to venue carpark, outdoor play for children, and a scenic entrance to the facility. You enter through the shop with 3 other rooms which are out for hire. Weddings, parties etc. The cafe area is cosy, quaint and revamped barn feels. The seating and chairs made it all feel intimate and warming. Local selection of cakes etc to view and a modest menu to choose from. Creamteas, sandwiches, speciality items etc. Only down side personally overall was the ablutions where the bins were overflowing, it was a Sunday late afternoon, so hadn't been checked all day by looks. Little bit tainted the overall feel and richness of the venue. Staff were amazing and helpful, so overall a definite place to view and experience again.

Soon as we walked in the hostess was very loud and brash and caused confusion about our booking. In addition to this she was wearing an incredibly short skirt... entirely inappropriate for such a place. So much so, bum was on show... i hope they have a defibrillator on site as the father-in-law was not ready for that. The overall experience felt a little off, the staff seemed a bit rushed. I understand it was busy, there was a lot of staff on but service was slow. Think the initial greeting from the hostess set a little bit of a dull tone for us all for the rest of our stay.

Visited for coffee and cake after cycling in the area. Warm welcome (even in cycling gear, which is not always the case elsewhere..), good coffee and lovely blackberry and lemon cake. Friendly service and nice ambience. Loads of parking and a place for bikes (the wheel-buckling type unfortunately, but we appreciate the effort!). A good place for lunch/brunch type meals too.

Whilst we appreciate that a booking is for 1:45 hours, we were very surprised to be asked to vacate our table when they weren’t even half full. We were offered another table but apparently putting the next people on another table would have needed them to adjust the booking form. Absolutely ridiculous so we left rather than having another coffee.

Nice store but too expensive for me. I use the cafe though despite the freezing air conditioning on cold days! Disabled toilet in ladies fashion area is not assessed by those with knowledge and understanding. The unnecessarily very heavy door doesn't open fully so it's difficult if not impossible for a frail person with a rollator or wheelchair to get in or out without someone holding the door open. Theres no coat hook! Are they expected to put their coats on the floor (not not that they would be able to bend down and pick it up)? We did request that a coat hook be put there months ago and it was promised. Obviously they have no imagination as to what it's like to manage as a disabled person.

I love getting a coffee and a snack and sitting by the fire in the main guest lounges if I am ever near in CT. The walk up cafe food is great and mostly made to order. The service is friendly and it's a lovely place to sit on the deck in warm weather or nest by the fireplace or in the library room. The decoration feels like you are in the weekend section of the NY Times or in a cosy relatives house that you like ;)

It seems my original review was removed. But nothing has changed. The staff look incredibly miserable, not a smile in sight, and it's contagious. There's a gloomy vibe about the place.
