The guy at the main reception acts like he's running a Michelin starred snooty restaurant...no smile no warmth...extraordinary!! The staff all seem stressed and unfriendly...odd atmosphere. Food was stupidly expensive, chicken thighs with a bit of Kimchi, no salad nothing!! Just overall poor....clearly taking no notice of previous similar comments...a bit arrogant.... don't seem to care what customers feel like. 😕

A lovely place . We went for coffee . This was booked for one hour . You have to choose your time limit I understand they do not want customers outstaying their welcome. However I felt our waitress was watching us closely to make sure we did not exceed our time limit .This made me look at my watch several times . The close management ,‘get them in , get them out ‘meant I was not relaxed .The cakes were lovely but I did not enjoy it

Stopped in this place for a quick lunch. The surroundings and location are pretty with plenty of parking. The cafe is welcoming and we were seated promptly without a reservation. The tea comes served in this cute little pot but the handle gets very hot which makes it difficult to pour. The menu is nice and I would recommend the fish finger sandwich. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area!

Visited for coffee and cake after cycling in the area. Warm welcome (even in cycling gear, which is not always the case elsewhere..), good coffee and lovely blackberry and lemon cake. Friendly service and nice ambience. Loads of parking and a place for bikes (the wheel-buckling type unfortunately, but we appreciate the effort!). A good place for lunch/brunch type meals too.

Whilst we appreciate that a booking is for 1:45 hours, we were very surprised to be asked to vacate our table when they weren’t even half full. We were offered another table but apparently putting the next people on another table would have needed them to adjust the booking form. Absolutely ridiculous so we left rather than having another coffee.

A bit disappointed. Pastry on the treacle tart was like armour plate, seriously, it could not be cut with a knife and shattered into pieces (as would your teeth if you attempted to chew it.) So essentially you pay £5.00 for the filling only. Wondered "Is this some sort of noveau recipe?" but think not. As said, a disappointment, won't risk it again.

Not a friendly experience. Three staff members at the counter as we arrived for tea and cake. Nobody made eye contact until we said ‘Excuse me ..’ then we got the ‘You ok there?’ response. Well no, we’ve booked a table and we’d like cups of tea, and some cake please. Our order was taken and delivered unsmilingly. We would have ordered further drinks but decided not to spend any more money on offhand service. We were the only two people in the tearoom so there was no pressure on staff. Prices aren't cheap - and we’ve had far better and friendlier service at cheaper places. A definite need for some urgent staff training. There is a lovely gift shop in the foyer; however it’s very badly lit - when we left, it was getting dark and we genuinely couldn't see well enough to buy anything! All in all a disappointment.

Went for a Christmas lunch. Disappointed that there was not a christmassy feel. Nothing on the table not even a cracker. Food was good but the main (turkey) was very salty. I didn't add salt and pepper, thank goodness. Cheesecake was lovely. Venue is lovely but we were sat in the cafe with people just having coffee and cake so no Christmas atmosphere at all. They were not even playing Christmas music.

I was given a voucher as a birthday present which was a great idea. It is very tastefully decorated and made me feel relaxed and pampered. The little gift shop in the foyer sold useful things eg socks and tasteful Christmas decorations. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The toilets were clean well stocked and smelt lovely. They even had hand cream. The afternoon tea was huge and consisted of 4 different types of delicious sandwich one of which the staff happily changed when we said we didn't eat fish, and 4 different cakes then a scone. The only thing I would change is that the scone was too big as we ate that after the sandwiches and were too full up to eat all the cakes. However we were given boxes to take the remainder away in so could prolong our enjoyment at home. We came from Salisbury for this experience and if I had realised the barn was in the middle of the countryside I would have brought some walking boots and gone for a walk in the nearby woods. I enjoyed it here and will return.

The one star is for the coffee which was fine. The girl on the desk obviously didn't like the fact we only wanted a drink as we were told in no uncertain terms that there were no tables and we had to sit outside. When I went in to order there were a number of tables free with no reserved sign on so I queried this and was told that they don't use signs. Fair enough, but there was no warmth or apology. We were told within 5 minutes that there was a table free as someone had just left so we did go inside but were given takeaway cups when the order arrived. I asked why they would be and was told haughtily that I was outside previously. As I was now inside I requested proper cups to be given a look of horror and was told she would pour them into a cup. How unprofessional. I felt I was not welcome there from the moment I opened my mouth. What a shame, KImbridge used to be a lovely place for locals to go to years ago but it has turned into a snooty nightmare. Nobody turned up to sit at any of the 'reserved' tables either..

Have been following this place on social media for a while so when we unplanned happened to be in the area today we dropped in on the off chance for a coffee. Totally fine that there were no tables available. However it was a very unfriendly welcome. We stood in the entrance not sure quite where to go when eventually a member of staff who had been looking at us finally asked us how they could help. I just said we were just after a coffee. Was told pretty bluntly only tables were available outside - which as it was pouring with rain an unlikely prospect. I did feel like we were made to feel ridiculous for expecting a table to be free and not booking. There was only 2 of us. Place looks lovely but not a great first impression by unfriendly staff.

We both ordered Smoked Trout, Scrambled Eggs on Toast. The food was delicious but the trout portion of the dish consisted of three skinny strips. This was clearly done for economic reasons and made the dish appear a bit of a rip off. We have had the dish a few times at Kimbridge Barn, what we were initially served was very different from how it was served previously. We spoke to the staff about it and they were brilliant and couldn't have been more accommodating. The issue was resolved by giving us double the amount and only charging us the equivalent of scrambled eggs on toast. Love this place but it won't survive by doing this kind of thing.

Good but expensive cake and tea served in very chunky, heavy cups/ plates. Foul smell frequently wafting around the front garden tables a couple of weeks ago. Staff agreed they know about it but expected us to enjoy cake with the stink. Staff were nice when you can get hold of them. I've now seen other review about a bad smell in the tea garden. Had to chase up missing pots of tea three times so the server offered to remove it from the bill but they forgot it until we reminded them.

Nice venue although we ordered two babychinos and they charged us an extra 50p each for Oat Milk on top. I understand places do this but 3.50 for one tiny espresso cup of plain milk for a child seems a bit excessive/greedy. Left a sour taste in the mouth in what would have been a nice visit....

Last time we came when my daughter was a baby we had found it friendly. Today we were looking for a nice place to visit just her and I to have a nice ice cream and cup of tea. Unfortunately we found it very unfriendly - they didn’t wait the table, were curt on entry, and the only thing that made it worth the extortionate cost of a Pip juice and lack of ice cream was the trampoline in the field next to it.

Visited Sunday 30th July. The establishment need to pay more attention to the outdoor seated areas experience and their staff training. Not enough shelter in the outdoor area for when it rains. We saw a few people leave when realised there was no shelter outside for what is typical British weather. Establishment loosing business from lack of this shelter from the rain, in the outdoor areas. We sat it out as sheltered for a while by one of the outdoor sun umbrellas. We arrived and didn’t realise we should’ve booked an indoor table and we were informed that there were no tables available. We were not directed to either of the outdoor seated areas and had to work that out ourselves. Also, we were not given the specials menu when seated at table and there was no information about the specials , desserts or anything else in the front outdoor seated area. Waitress was young and inexperienced but very polite. Unfortunately, she didn’t know what the ‘Special Juice’ was and that it was in fact, sold out. We advised we wanted a cake and for the lack of choice of cakes, it again is something the waitresses should’ve been able to tell you. The cake was a Red Velvet and £5.00 a slice. The cream filling was not butter cream and tasted like cheap squirty cream. Agree with the last review regarding service charge. It is included in your bill and very well hidden at the bottom of the receipt. To charge this for having coffee, sandwich and cake is not really acceptable. Accept that we only went for coffee, sandwich and cake but for the prices you’re paying you expect a better standard of food and service.

We had a fabulous afternoon tea taking our Mum’s out for a treat. Over the last few years we have gone to Claridge’s, The Ritz and the Shard amongst others and whilst those are an institution, Kimbridge Barn is local, accessible and much more relaxed which lead to a lovely afternoon spent chatting and enjoying the great selection of tea and coffee with our delicious afternoon assortment of sandwiches and cakes. The service was excellent, very attentive but not annoying and nothing was too much trouble. The sandwiches were unusual flavours, not your standard but they were delicious and we savoured every mouthful. The scones were right sized with a big dollop of jam and cream, more than enough and it was topped off with mouth watering cakes. The hardest decision we had to make was what to eat first, the best kind of decision! Price wise, it was definitely well worth it and we will definitely be recommending and heading back again. Highly recommend.

Went for afternoon tea, it was very disappointing. The atmosphere was cramped, stuffy and hot. We asked to go outside, were told that afternoon tea is not served outside. We then asked for a window to be opened, this was promised but didn't happen. Fortunately the cakes were lovely but the sandwiches were like supermarket sandwiches. Both of our cake stands were removed before we had finished the cake, leaving our cake plates on the table. We had to ask for more tea since the pot came half full (not enough for four people). We noticed that one of the items on the menu was missing, it turned out they had forgotten this so they brought it out partway through our tea. They also upped the price by 25% between when we booked it and when we went. The website suggests you can walk in the site's beautiful grounds but when we asked we were told that these were off limits. All in all, not very good. I would highly recommend the tearoom at Hillier Gardens, or Houghton Lodge, instead.
