Excellent as usual in every way, although the on line booking service offered only 7.45pm when I requested 7pm. Expecting a crowd we were pleasantly surprised to find the place to ourselves after 20 minutes! Exemplary service from Bob made it a wonderful birthday celebration.

Went in for a drinkand some food as to escape the cold weather, very disappointing to say the least, we chose not to eat as the place is clearly in need of a thorough clean, really dirty floors and tables. Also observing the food that others were being served neither of us were enthusiastic. Drinks ludicrously priced £16+ for a Pint and a Glass of White Wine

Busy restaurant but then it was the beginning of January. We went for brunch. It was busy and the place felt welcoming. We ordered our food but sadly, the olives ordered did not arrive. My burger was fine apart from the cheese that I couldn't find apart from cheese rind which was disappointing. My husband ordered fish and chips which were okay but nothing special. Overall, an ok brunch although we did not think the discretionary service charge of 12.5% was warranted. Drinks were a tad pricy unless purchasing the local beer. Would we go back? Probably not.

For our first time visiting we booked the Festive Brunch for Christmas Eve after hearing so many great things about this place. Unfortunately our first time experience wasn’t great and honestly a little underwhelming. Food & drinks were pretty good. However service is where it let everything down. Staff seemed distracted and not the most friendly/welcoming. Black pudding was forgotten on 3 full English breakfasts so after raising the issue with staff it was brought out separately, we had to ask for extra sauces/salt/pepper as none were offered to us by staff. We also had to ask for extra drinks throughout despite staff seeing we were down on drinks multiple times. It took ages for our table to be cleared with a staff member taking 3 out of the 5 plates and then after another 20 minutes finally coming back over to clear the remaining 2 plates. When it came to settling the bill it felt very transactional by the staff member and we were not asked how everything was just ‘here’s the bill & the card machine.’ A shame as we were looking forward to our visit but unfortunately poor service and lack of detail let this pub down big time. Perhaps we will visit again but we’d choose other places over here for a better experience overall.

We had a family meal for 10 here to celebrate my birthday. We had a large table tucked away so it was like private dining which was nice. We were really looked after by the staff and they also made scramble eggs on toast for my 96 YO nan. Food was really good, I had the burger that was very tasty. To top it off I was presented with a treat with birthday wishes on the plate.

I stayed here for one night to attend a nearby family party. The hosts of The Greyhound were so welcoming and allowed me check in early and really could not do enough for me, very kind and attentive. My room was absolutely gorgeous, so spotlessly clean, comfortable and cosy with a lovely bathroom and everything I could wish for. The bed was sumptuous with fabulous linen. In the morning I had a wonderful breakfast and freshly squeezed orange juice. The staff were all really lovely and warm and friendly. It was such a treat to stay here I loved it.

Visited for a couple of nights based on the good reviews I had read. Wasn't disappointed. This is a very well appointed pub/ Hotel. We had a quaint, cozy, warm room at the rear of the hotel which kept us away from the possibility of noise from the A30 which runs alongside. The food was restaurant standard and reasonably priced. For those interested, it offered a couple of real ales which is always a plus point for me. The staff were friendly and helpful. A real positive for us selecting the Greyhound was the fact that breakfast is served until 10.30 am. We don't even consider hotels that have early breakfast times. Also, we tend not to go out until midday and often when we return the room is not made up. This wasn't the case with the Greyhound as the room was always made up when we returned, another positive feature. The food was of a very good standard with an interesting menu. My only negative was the inordinate amount of time it took for us to be served on the second evening. I'm assuming this was s one off and I'm prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt. Good Internet speed enabled us to stream films via Firestick. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

Went in to the pub for the second time. First time was for a wedding and the male behind the bar refused to serve us as we were not allowed to drink an hour before apparently. Then watched other people come out with drinks from the same bar. Went in again tonight and again was met by who I am assuming was the manager. He was again abrupt. The other staff in there were lovely. I was there with my three children, one of whom has learning difficulties. He came over at one point and asked me to keep my son quiet. He shouted at his brother once in a game, and was well behaved before that. There were only two other people in the bar at the time. Both times I have felt unwelcome, and at £7.35 a pint i would expect some friendliness, but not from here. Staff lovely, person in charge utterly lacking compassion and people skills.

Restaurant Review: The Greyhound, Stockbridge Nestled in the charming town of Stockbridge, The Greyhound stands out as a true gem of culinary excellence and warm hospitality. From the moment you step through its inviting doors, you’re greeted by super friendly staff whose genuine enthusiasm makes you feel right at home. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the venison. Perfectly cooked and presented, it was tender, rich in flavor, and paired with accompaniments that complemented the dish beautifully. The attention to detail in seasoning and preparation was evident, showcasing the chef’s skill and respect for local, seasonal ingredients. The atmosphere is another notable feature. The Greyhound strikes the perfect balance between cozy and refined, with tasteful decor that adds to the overall charm. Whether you’re there for a romantic dinner or a relaxed meal with friends, the setting feels just right. Equally impressive was the wine list, offering a well-curated selection to suit a variety of tastes. Our server was knowledgeable and provided excellent recommendations to enhance our dining experience. If you’re in Stockbridge, The Greyhound is a must-visit. From the delightful venison to the attentive and friendly service, every aspect of the experience feels thoughtful and memorable. I can’t wait to return to explore more of their menu!

I really wish we had realised how good the Greyhound is a long time ago. I’ve driven past it countless times but after a less than good experience at another Stockbridge restaurant it was finally time to give it a go. This is how a cosy pub restaurant should be. Never having been to the Greyhound before we booked a table for Sunday lunch based on reviews that we had seen online. We were not disappointed and enjoyed a typical roast with delicious meat and an excellent selection of vegetables. The starters and desserts were also great, particularly the trout rillette. The service was very good, despite the restaurant being quite full. By chance we met friends there who said that it was one of their favourite restaurants so we will return.

This is a really difficult review to leave as the Greyhound means a lot to my wife and myself. It was where we got married and have had memorable experiences fishing and having drinks here. Unfortunately, over the years it has drastically gone down hill. We went for a meal the other evening, we arrived 30 minutes before our reservation and asked if we could have drinks in the beer garden, got told we can but they are really busy. Not sure what they meant by this, but felt pressured to sit early and drink at the table, we got seated and then were forgotten about for 20-30 minutes until I had to ask for menus. They apologised and I didn't think much of it, it wasn't busy but mistakes happen. We were hoping to order from the Fixed Price menu but we were told they are not doing it. Despite being told they did a few days ago when reserving the table, and that the website states they do. So instead we had to order from the main menu which is considerably more expensive (~£25 for a main). We were annoyed but chose not to have desert or starter and just go with a main and to enjoy the meal. Throughout trying to decide, we had a waitress ask several times if we were ready, she kept saying she would be back in 3 minutes which added to feeling rushed and stressed. We did take slightly longer than usual as we had a vegetarian with us and the menu only had one single vegetarian option (roasted celeriac). We asked if they had a vegetarian menu, and the waitresses said there are options on the menu... There was one! I'm a massive meat eater, however this got to me quite a bit. Why would they have just the one option, and one that is quite unique. Would it be so difficult to have a mushroom risotto or linguine? Something that isn't technically "tailored" for vegans but is often enjoyed by most. This resulted in the guest having to pay £20 for something that she had never tried before, and wasn't particularly feeling. I must add though that she enjoyed it which is good. However, one vegetarian option in this day and age is really unusual and out of touch. They are losing a lot of potential customers. I orderd a burger as I was trying to save some money and it was the cheapest thing on the menu at £18. I'm a massive foodie, and it pains me having to order a burger and to be tight on money, however, this was the 3rd time in 5 days I had ate out, so was trying to pay less but still have quality (hence why we wanted the fixed price menu). Unfortunately, my burger was incredibly dry and over done, it was perhaps one of the worst burgers i've had from a pub. The chips were great though. The portion sizes were quite small, especially considering the prices. Despite feeling rushed at the beginning, we were ignored the rest of the meal and wasn't approached again or asked about our meal or if we wanted more drinks, it then took ages for someone to serve the bill. The serving staff came across as rude and unfriendly. And of course, the usual 12.5% tip was automatically included. I didn't contest anything and just paid and left. My friend wanted to use the same venue for a wedding in the future and was using the day to try and sell it to his partner, however, the experience has put them off. And it has also made it really upsetting that we won't be returning for our anniversary meal, like I mentioned, we got married here and have very fond memories. I have spoken to a few locals and business owners in Stockbridge and they have also mirrored my experience, and it is apparently common local knowledge that the service and quality had nose dived in recent times. There is an opinion that they have focused too much on their garden events and WILDS then the actual restaurant. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but something needs to be done. It is a fantastic venue and it used to have amazing food and service, but no more. As a customer, you can't help but feel like a nuisance, the environment comes across as hostile and unfriendly. We felt very unwelcome even for myself as a local. I feel really bad for the owners Lucy and Alex as they are fantastic and friendly people, they have just been let down by their staff. I've been informed that the Three Cups next door is a much better option nowadays. I would like to add that despite not being open in the evening, Pregos next door is the complete opposite of The Greyhound. Amazing food, great friendly service and affordable pricing and serving sizes, you leave there feeling like your custom actually matterd. Furthermore, I would like to add that the river section in the beer garden is now always closed to customers which is such a massive shame. It was the reason we got married there, and now we can't have a drink on the banks. This might be due to insurance reasons, I don't know, but it is quite upsetting. I understand restricting access when the beat is being fished, but it's always locked. On an unrelated note, I would like to add that the fishing is incredible and worth it! I'm really sorry for the bad review, it pains me to leave it but I can't help stay quiet whilst somewhere so special to us is suffering. We paid over £20k to get married here, and whilst we are not expecting special treatment, it would be great if we could be treated with some form of hospitality.

The room was nice, comfortable and we really liked the plentiful tea, coffee, water and juices on offer. But the stay was let down by the service. The on-site parking was full on arrival, despite the website stating residents were each allocated a parking space. The garden was closed due to a function being held at the property so there was no outside space available to residents. We ate dinner in the restaurant and asked if we could stay downstairs after dinner but we were told that the restaurant was fully booked and we would have to go back to the room. It really felt like hotel guests were not valued and they focused on restaurant guests and function guests. It's such a shame as this could have been a lovely stay.

Not impressed. We were expecting so much more since it was written up in the Michelin Guide. First table offered to us was between 2 groups who were loud and noisy. We asked for another table and did get it. Nowhere on their website or on the menu says there is a 12.5% service fee. Outrageous!! Roast beef was not sliced properly - too thick and the plate looked like a mishmash of stuff all thrown together. Very noisy place. Cod was okay but I have had better. overall we were not impressed with the food. No wine as the selection was poor. We would not come back.

We had a lovely meal and the staff were delightful. Service was quick. Nice that nobody said "Enjoy!" A minor niggle: twice someone came to the table to ask if everything was "ok", interrupting our conversation. I know many restaurants do this but it is very annoying. If anything's not "ok" we would have a word later, not in the middle of a very pleasant dinner. For a moment I thought " ah, the icing on the cake, no piped music!" - but no such luck, there it was, not even music but a faint irritating thump thump. But we will definitely return and will warmly recommend to friends. .

A lovely pub/restaurant decorated to a high standard. It is clear they are aiming for up market clientele which is fine but it would perhaps deter local people. Polite as they are, the Landlord & Landlady just don't seem particularly comfortable as front of house owners. No small talk at all. It all felt a bit uncomfortable (you could almost hear a pin drop) as wannabe drinkers were told they couldn't sit at tables as they will be laid ready for diners who were on their way. One couple were asked to sit right in the corner near the loos. I would have gone elsewhere! The food is good quality although the Roast dinners we had were not hot enough. Also, a fairly small glass of average Malbec for £8.50 is just too much. 5 would make a bottle £42.50. Tut tut.

I live very locally to this pub and speaking to any friends from out of the area they are always keen to mention the good reputation of this pub. However, having lunch there I would beg to differ, there are many other places in Stockbridge which I would prefer to visit. My lunch was ok, not particularly overpriced for this area but a very average meal. My white wine was just slightly cooler than room temperature, but certainly not chilled. The food and whole experience was underwhelming. I ate the next day at the Boot in Houghton and the food and service there far outshone the Greyhound. Sad to say, but if you are in the Stockbridge area, don't rely on the hype, try another venue.

Excellent as usual. Service discreet but attentive. Food never a disappointment. House wines excellent otherwise the wine list has some exceptional choices.

We attended a Steak and Malbec night and we were thrilled with the whole evening. The food was delicious and the wine was excellent, but the evening was made very special by the warm welcome and vibrant atmosphere. The Greyhound on the Test never disappoints!

A bit disappointed with the food. We took the fixed menu and it wasn’t that special. We might have done better a la carte but that is very expensive.

Had a delicious dinner here last night. The pub itself is really cute – all low ceilings, wooden beams, low lighting and lovely artwork on the walls. We shared two starters (the pig cheek fritters and the mackerel with wasabi, both were amazing). The mains – steak and fries and the cods loin with mussel chowder – were also great. The staff were sweet enough to bring us a plate of petit fours on the house as we'd booked for our anniversary which was a really nice touch. Perfect elevated gastropub food.

Thank you team Greyhound for a fabulous private party at the weekend. We were a group of 16 family and friends coming together to celebrate my mother's 85th. The Greyhound team were a dream to work with planning our event and when the weekend came nothing was too much trouble. Our dinner, the front of house team and the bedrooms were all fabulous so thank you Becs, Bob, Bea, Jackie and the rest of the Greyhound team for making this milestone birthday such a special and memorable event.

Great place to stay a night. The room was spacious if a little pricey and let down by a dodgy shower. Bed was comfy though and good facilities (Nespresso machine etc) Despite being on the front street there was no noise to be heard. The food is the highlight though so do take advantage. Dinner (food and wine) was really good and the breakfast was exceptional - best I've had in a while.

Great service and amazing food the crispy pigs cheek and duck were exceptional. Only one tiny point, my elderly father struggles with steps and there were no disabled access toilet facilities so we had to struggle with the steps

La habitación estaba bien y el personal está bien, pero la comida es terrible para el precio, muy mala selección para elegir y no la mejor comida cuando se entrega. £ 15 . 95 por 6 pequeños trozos de pollo en una niñera de goma con un poco de lechuga.

A Hidden Gem with Six-Star Service This hotel is a true find! The location is absolutely perfect, nestled in the heart of a charming and quaint town. From the moment we arrived, I was blown away by the exceptional service – it honestly felt like I was staying in a six-star London hotel. MY room was beautifully appointed with every detail carefully considered. It was clear that a lot of thought had gone into creating a comfortable and luxurious space. And the breakfast? Forget tired buffets! Here, you order off a menu and are treated to a truly delicious and satisfying start to the day. Honestly, I can't recommend this hotel enough. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway with top-notch service and a beautiful setting, look no further. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better place to stay.
