Lovely spot, lovely garden and lovely staff. Our waitress, Audra, is so smiley and helpful every time we visit! Well defo visit again.

Dinner with some really good friends. Very attentive Staff, thanks Joe and Nina. Lots of choice on the menu, and all our meals were well presented and very tasty. Although it was clearly a busy evening the service was spot on from beginning to end. We will definitely be coming back.

Returned after a fantastic visit about 6 months ago really looking forward to repeating the experience. I was not disappointed!!! The service, food, drink was simply phenomenal - way, way above a 'gastropub' which if you look at the facts that is what it is.....I saved the lamb until the last evening and they say you should save the best till last.....and it was.....highly recommended - thank you.

Sunday evening so they had obviously been busy as the waiting staff informed us a few items were not available. Large menu so no problem. We arrived early and were sat in the bar. Had drinks. Went to table and ordered, so far so good. Food was excellent, at least what arrived was. The greens were advertised as including brocoli, spinach, green beans, and samphire - no samphire was evident. The dish had obviously been on the hot plate a long time as some of the spinach was crusted to the edge. But, and I can't stress this enough - the food we had was excellent. However I was watching the other meals coming from the kitchen and the Yorkshire puddings that other had looked very over cooked ( I'm a Yorkshireman and they just looked wrong. Waiting staff cleared our plates away - but not the side dishes; which remained through the dessert until we left and pointed this out. Speaking of dessert, I ordered a "mini-dessert with a hot drink". The coffee arrived but the dessert didn't; until 10 minutes after. I'd expect simultaneous arrival or dessert first. Coffee is the last part of a meal. The dessert arrived without a spoon! They'd had exactly the same issue with the next table so should have anticipated it.

Table for three for Sunday lunch booked the day before. Ordered three roasts which came in around 15 mins. All were delicious, especially the Yorkshire puddings. We all had puddings which were also very good. Service was fine and no complaints from us at all. One to return to. Quite punchy in terms of price but you do know that when you book - meal for 3, including drinks was just over £100 which was fair enough.

This place needs to improve on its food quality and staff attitude We booked a table arrived before time to be informed table just needed to be cleaned. We waited 20 minutes them questioned if the table was ready to have a response of are you being dealt with them told table was ready which we knew it was as we could see it from the bar area. Presented with the menu no apology for being kept waiting restaurant not very busy When we ordered we then told of items not available Food arrived which was at least warm no one came to see if our meals were ok so informed staff member when they cleared plates given a sorry about that Presented with the bill which was paid no please or thank you from staff member Not a great visit

The food was good but the place isn't particularly clean and the restaurant staff are not that friendly (a bit of an attitude). The window sills in the restaurant need a good clean - dead flies are not a pleasant sight. The toilets are very tired and the whole place needs a good refurb. Shame, as the bar staff are great but the waitresses and general condition of the place let it down.

We went for dinner on my wife's birthday. We went there because we had had a good meal there previously. Last night was a disappointment. Perhaps it was because it was Easter Monday and they were short of staff maybe. We were a party of five, me, my wife, our two children and a friend of my wife who was staying with us on holiday. My son had the fish and chips and complained that the chips weren't crisp and were dry, as were the minted peas. The fish was fine. My daughter complained that her Pizza was dry. My wife's friend said that the fries with her dirty burger were dry (dirty burger doesn't sound very appetising, does it?) My wife's seafood linguini and my salad with grilled chicken breast were fine, although it is difficult to ruin a salad. So three meals with complaints that they were dry? It points to them being kept under the lights for too long before serving. We told the waitress about these complaints and she knocked 10% off the bill. Naturally we would have preferred to pay the full amount and have an enjoyable meal on my wife's birthday. Normally we would have had at least a couple of desserts, but my children didn't want to give the restaurant the extra business.

Service is at best below average. We had to put our finished plates on the adjacent table where they remained until we left! Clearly staff training us not something that happens or if it does not achieveing anything. Mains were over priced for the quality served to us. Whwn servers were asked about the dishes they had no idea of what to say, quiet embarrassing really. Cheese board is a complete joke at half the price. Blue cheese was a 2mm thick slice but tasty, the brie must be asda value range like rubber, the cheddar said to be strong and tasty is anything but iceland mild Cheddar has more taste. The biscuits are those carboard chewy things that are trendy but tasteless, where are the water buiscuts as an option az this is not cheap. Worse still it is all served straight out of the fridge very cold adding to a very dire experince. I do not know who selects the wines, but the shiraz that haz a wonderful description is anything but, and just a fruity wine lacking body & spice of even a mediocore shiraz and at almost £12 a glass. I do not leave many reviews but this deserves one as its way below standard.

An utterly dreadful experience for a birthday evening and cannot recommend this establishment. Service was glacially slow, a table booked for 7.30 and we didn’t leave until almost 10.00 pm. Constantly referred to as “ you guys” by the male servers showed no respect for more mature customers. Food was very underwhelming and lukewarm at best. Chips being sent back to kitchen as they were almost cold and unpleasant. For pudding we chose apple tarts, but sadly these too were a letdown, the puff pastry was more akin to chewy rubber - not at all crisp. The final insult of course was an incorrect bill just to round things off. Sorry “guys” you have lost us as customers, we will not be back after such an awful evening meal.

Turned up having not booked a table but Tahla was so accommodating and sorted us out a table immediately and made us feel very welcome. Tahla was a lovely natured person and very professional

We quite often go to Chilworth Arms for a nice supper. The food is generally good and the service is friendly. Tonight we were happy with our experience and thought there was a younger vibe. The music was more upbeat and there was a good crowd in the bar. Not crowded in the restaurant though. The fillet steak was excellent and I enjoyed the steak pie, though there was a bit more pie than steak. A nice wine list and friendly service from Carrie. A nice way to end the week.

We visited the chilworth arms after meeting some friends. Very good menu, and we all had roast dinners. Incredible quality and very good portion size (I'm a big eater) . Highly recommend and we will be back when in the area again.

Very pleasant surroundings and the tables are crammed together like a lot of places. Service was disappointing. We had to ask twice for a jug of water, and even when it came the second time it took a while. Similarly in asking for condiments, the first person we asked we never saw again and had to ask someone else. The trio roast tasted good, but it wasn’t very warm, the beef was quite gristly and the pork was about 40%fat. My wife said her sea bass was quite bland but very nicely presented. Overall a bit of a let down.

Excellent meal. Delicious pie! It was a Friday night so busy. Glad we went for the small pudding and drink option. The desserts we saw arriving at other tables were huge.

Went for a drink in this beautiful pub after walking the old Roman road nearby. Although we didn’t eat, menu looked good, the interior was stylish with designer decor and an open fire.

Ordered food which took 45 minutes to arrive. Pub was not busy as early evening. Food was tasty but only warm and not hot. Asked for water which never arrived. Advertised as a Premuim Pub but cleanliness is extremely poor. Ripped chairs. Photo included.

Consistently excellent food in a nicely decorated pub. Not the cheapest but good value for the high standards. Always busy so be sure to book. Photo shows fishcakes with poached egg on a bed of spinach. Perfect.

The place has really run itself into the ground. Although the food was generally fine, one meal was particularly bad and just happened to be the most expensive on the menu. The restaurant itself is terrible and filthy. Dust and stains on every wall and carpet. The toilets stank and were flooded. There was a fork in the sink the entire time we were there. Although our waitress was trying her hardest she had no support. Our table was overflowing with empty glasses as were all the empty tables around us. There was food on the floor. No one asked if our meals were ok and who knows if they do desserts as we were never offered one. This place charges a premium price for their drinks and food but the venue itself is a let down. We have been several times before but won’t be back anytime soon

A restaurant is not only a building and the food served there - a good restaurant is created primarily by the people who work there. They decide how we feel inside and whether we want to visit it again in the future. This place scared me. Dirt everywhere, mold, a ton of dust (window sills, doors), no hand sanitizer in the toilet (dust on the doors), paint peeling off the windows and ceiling, very dirty carpet in the restaurant part. I wonder what's going on in the back of the kitchen!!!??? A neglected and dirty menu may be a signal that the entire restaurant is not very tidy, hygienic or clean. There's a lot that could be said about the condition of the place. The restaurant is expensive. The food was good, tasty, the service was great, that's all I can say about this place. I've been to this pub 5 times and I thought something had changed this time but NO!!! I won't go back there again. Thank you

Lovely Valentine meal and wine. Really liked the setting and lighting. Only thing you could do was, though the berry pavlova was big, it was all meringue and cream with few berries. We will be back 😁

Tahla our waitress was an absolute delight tonight, she took our allergies very seriously and ensured everything was checked with the kitchen before letting us order. She was so thoughtful and attentive - very hardworking around the restaurant and really able to think on her feet, going from table to table with all different requirements. I see her being a supervisor or manager very soon as she’s already operating on that level. Thank you Tahla - we would absolutely come back just for you.

Diabolical service at an elevated price. The men’s toilets are absolutely disgusting and need a good clean. Many of the carpets throughout need a good clean or replacement. This used to be a good place and it’s a shame that it has gone down hill.

Great food and lovely atmosphere!

Tahla was great and made our afternoon so too the guys who served us and the Birthday Dessert was a lovely touch. Only one small critic the mushroom starter we thought was a little bland could have had a tasty cheese topping maybe?

Lovely, cosy atmosphere accompanied by a warm, excellent service. Perfect for a nice meal between family and friends.

Tahla was an absolute delight, extremely attentive to my dietary requirements, going above and beyond what I’d normally expect she truly made the dining experience worthwhile. The food was “okay”, it was cooked well enough but nothing that would make you race back for seconds, and the price was waaaay above the level of sophistication offered to the taste buds. We will definitely return, but it will be based more on the service and atmosphere than the food.

Came for the Valentine' meal, it was gorgeous. The restaurant is lovely, and the food fantastic. Slightly pricey but it's fancier food so it's absolutely proportionate. We were served by Tahla. She was absolutely charming and attentive throughout our experience, including as I was walking around the restaurant.

We used to enjoy coming here but latest visit was slightly disappointing. No staff at front reception and the serving staff looked stressed and hurried on their feet, they were pleasant however. Menu selection seems limited. Options still rich for meat eaters and not adventurous for people with dietary special needs/vegetarian options. Didn’t have to wait too long for dishes to come. Place looks a little run down and sticky although front door is inviting.

Good quality food & excellent service.

It is a shame this use to be a nice pub, with good food and great atmospherea. Now food quality is not great. But cleanness is appalling, every part of this place needs proper scrub, coat of paint and a carpet clean/ change. Photos only shows small part of it. Sadly won't be visiting again.

We spent a lovely evening with friends from out of the area. The Chilworth Arms did not disappoint. The food was well cooked and tasty. 3 of our party had Lamb Rump and they were asked how they would like it cooked. All 3 were exactly as requested. I had Sea Bass which was delicious. Well done to the Chefs Kyle, Dale and Rico. We were looked after by Jordan and Tahla who were both friendly and efficient and added to our evening being so enjoyable. It was a busy evening with a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely visit again.

Food was just OK. Service was very slow. I went with a group and we had pre-ordered, we ended up waiting a couple hours for everything. My cab came before I could get my dessert.

Ordered takeaway, but on arrival was informed there was a considerable delay as they were chronically understaffed. I accepted this and ordered a drink while I waited. An hour after my food was due to be ready, I asked a waiter only to be told that it had been waiting for me for a long time. I was not keen on accepting a meal that had been bagged under a heat lamp for perhaps 45 minutes to an hour. The waiters went to talk to their manager, who did not come out to discuss the situation with me but clearly instructed the waiter that as there was a miscommunication it must be my fault for not being clear enough. Overall, it was an unpleasant experience that seems to clearly indicate a poorly managed establishment. The waiters did their best to apologise but were not empowered to find any compromise. 2 hours after ordering, I left without any food, but with a refund, wondering how to find tea at 2300 in a small village. A loose, loose situation all round. There seemed to be plenty of people happy to wait the extended period to eat in. But I would not recommend ordering to take away.

I thought there was a good choice of both food and drink. . I hadn’t been to The Chilworth for several years as I’d moved away from the area, I thought the building looked really tired inside, lots of areas that needed to be repainted. The toilets, both make and female weren’t great, no soap in gents.

We had THE BEST family meal today, absolute credits to the chefs and to top it off the staff were impeccable! Couldn’t fault it Thankyou !

A delightful, rustic and stylish pub. Came in to do some work and received 5 star service.

Lovely catch up lunch with old friends today. The food was lovely, the service from Nina was great (friendly but not intrusive). It was quite busy for a Tuesday but the atmosphere was one of calm and not rushed in any way. All in all a lovely place to eat.

Service was erratic. Some staff seemed more interested in chatting than serving customers. Roast pork is advertised as coming with crackling. This was missing. Had to ask for the stuffing (staff seemed surprised I wanted what I’d ordered). Potatoes and Yorkshire pudding both small and soggy. Food had obviously been left under lights for hours. Veg consisted of one piece of carrot, one tiny parsnip, a few slices of leek and some off cuts of cabbage. Appalling value for money. Had to ask for bill twice and then had to ask to pay. I’ve been to the Chilworth Arms several times and never been disappointed until yesterday. Standards have seriously slipped. Hope it was a one off but won’t be coming back anytime soon

No staff to "meet & greet" just an empty desk with computer. Waited 15 minutes before booking checked then being seated. Luckily a young man, also a customer alerted bar staff that people were waiting to be seated in the restaurant. Obviously short staffed. The dish I chose was literally chicken portions + fries, no garnish or veg - I imagine these were extra but weren't offered anyway. Honestly, prices were such that any extras would have rendered a simple supper extortionate price wise. Far better to order a "bowl" choice meal which would offer a variety of veg or salad. Not impressed. The berry pavlova was very good, far too large though and the meringue needed a knife in order to penetrate it's shell! Tasty once in to it.

We do like to come here but on multiple occasions the senior bar manager has been very rude unnecessarily to the point I have other staff apologise for him. Other wise it is definitely worth a visit.
