The best restaurants serving Default food in Ambleside and Grasmere South Lakeland North West

After leaving voicemail and email requests for information, to no avail, we get here, and the place is closed and for sale. Great job, Google. Still showing it as less busy than usual.

An absolutely fantastic and inventive meal served by friendly staff in a great little location. To find this level of food and ambience in Ambleside was a real treat.

Lovely meal for 8 last Sunday lunch - happily not a typical "Sunday Roast". have been a number of times and has never failed to impress.

Amazing food and great staff. What a find! You can't book a table because it's so busy, which I thought was fair enough. We got a lovely table in the bay window immediately, they really tried to look after us.

Tasty and warming food after a morning walking. We came in by chance and ordered the soup of the day and the vegetarian chilli con carne. Both were amazing and I was impressed that there were a lot of gluten free options available. Friendly service and would definitely come back!

Visited as a vegan couple. For a fully vegetarian restaurant I feel they could do better with the range of options, including faux meats and a larger variety of non-dairy cheeses. The service was also a little slow. Wasn’t amazing but did the job of a nice veggie dinner.

Superb home style food, super generous portion sizes. Nice and accomodating staff with quick service. Varied menu with all the classics. Would recommend to anyone travelling or in the area

Staff friendly who informed us of specials, wasn't rushed to order at counter. Apple pie and spiced apple pie very tasty with a decent mug of tea and coffee.

We have been here many times over the years and love it. Dropped in for a drink last week. Wooooah! £9.80 for a Prosecco and a pint of cider shandy is the same price as a pint of cider - about £7. So by that maybe a pint of lemonade is also £7? I’m sure many people stop for a drink while walking in the beautiful lakes but next time we might find another stopping point. Although living in the North East maybe we just have cheaper pubs up here??!!

The food is always delicious. Goods portions, reasonably priced. The staff are all very polite and pleasant. The restaurant is very stylish and cosy It's our favourite restaurant in the Lake District

Abysmal experience at Baldry's yesterday. We live in Cumbria and have taken friends there in the past as the food and staff have been good. Yesterday, as is sometimes the case, there was a queue and people were waiting for seats to become available. A member of staff frequently appeared at the door but failed to communicate to anyone in the queue that the restaurant was closing early. After some 20 minutes of queuing she eventually spoke up, having wasted the time of my group plus people queuing ahead of us and behind us. This prompted an uncharacteristic exchange from me but without any acknowledgement from the staff member that through her thoughtlessness and utter incompetence, she had wasted what probably amounted to over an hour of people's time. To potential customers...be aware of the utter lack of respect and customer service you may encounter at this place. To the owners of this establishment...you are ultimately responsible for how your staff treat customers and if you place customer engagement anywhere near business profitability will ensure this is addressed to prevent future potential customers having their time wasted through the sheer incompetence of the staff you employ.
