I wanted to try a local restaurant different to the nearby Premier Inn where I was staying. I went for a walk and chanced upon this Indian restaurant in Belsize lane. I don't often eat Indian food and i wanted try to try something different. I thought it was fantastic - best restaurant experience I have had for ages. The staff were very friendly and I thought the service was terrific. Really good value for money too. I ordered Punjabi Samosa with Popadom as a starter, Chicken Jalfrezi curry for the main dish with plain rice and garlia and coriander naan. Finished with pistachio icre cream dessert and all washed wond with a couple of Cobra beers. Couldn't fault anything - highly recommended if you are looking for a bite to eat in the Belsize park area.

I came to London to see Taylor Swift at Wembley stadium and stayed a few days for some sight seeing/touristy activities - I had a great stay at La Gaffe! I stayed in their single room, which is their smallest room. They openly advertise as being very compact, and it was...But I'm not traveling all the way to England just to sit in a hotel room all day so I honestly didn't care. But if you're traveling with a second person or prefer more space, I'd definitely suggest one of their larger rooms. My room was very clean...I wiped everything down with a disinfecting wipe upon my arrival (I do this at all hotels) and it didn't pick up a speck of dirt or dust! I prioritize cleanliness at hotels over room size, so I was very pleased. The room did not have air conditioning, but there was an overhead fan that kept temperatures comfortable on the two sunny days of my visit where outside temperatures reached 75f/24c. Breakfast is a plentiful selection of cold foods - they had croissants, rolls, bread for toast, hard boiled eggs, meat, cheese, and a selection of cereals. They also have condiments like Nutella/jam/butter, as well as juice, milk, water, and a basket of fresh fruit. The food and drink options were frequently replenished throughout breakfast so nothing ever ran out. They also have an espresso machine and will make you any coffee drink of your choosing, which I loved. I was perfectly happy with croissant sandwiches and lattes every day! The staff at La Gaffe were very kind. I tripped and injured my ankle while sight seeing during my stay; they gave me ice to help with the swelling and told me where I could find the closest pharmacy in case I needed anything. They also gave me good directions on how to get back from wembley stadium late at night, which I appreciated. Location wise, La Gaffe is great. There is a tesco express grocery store within a 5ish minute walk of the hotel that is open daily until midnight, so it's easy to grab snacks, a cheap meal, or a cold drink at any time during your stay. There is also a pharmacy, tons of restaurants, several bakeries, and many clothing stores nearby so there's lots to do even on days when you're jetlagged and don't feel like venturing far from the hotel. The hotel is a quick walk to the hampstead stop on the Northern line, which leads directly to tons of popular areas including Camden market, covent garden, Leicester Square, and Westminster. The walk back to the hotel from the hampstead stop involves quite a hefty hill though, so be prepared for a workout if you have luggage with you! All in all I'd absolutely recommend la gaffe to anyone looking for a great, affordable, no frills stay and I'd absolutely stay there again.

Great neighbourhood restaurant. Very buzzy on a Friday night with people of all ages. Felt cosy and local. Started with the beef bresaola - delicious and highly recommend. Then had he tagliatelle bolognese - more disappointing, had expected a tastier, richer sauce. However perhaps this is how it's traditionally done. The breeze-block of tiramisu to finish was ideal.

Not been to La Cage for about 5 years. Read the recent reviews and wondered if we should go elsewhere, but the memories of the past drew us in. So glad we went..it was almost as good as we remembered! The food was certainly perfectly acceptable-the frogs legs were a tiny bit undercooked, but the duck breast was excellent, and the crème brûlée was perfect. Only one rose on offer, but it was fine. The tea was served alongside a pretty little pink milk jug which was ‘A Present from Bradford’! Service was friendly, and acceptable, a bit slow at times, but the staff responded quickly to the merest signal. As always, excellent value for a Hampstead restaurant!
