We had a delicious meal at Zara - lamb chops and lamb shish kebab. Attentive, helpful service. Excellent guidance on wine. We will definitely go again. Highly recommend!

My wife and I went to Zara recently for lunch. We were going to Hampstead Heath and restaurant very close to Overground station and Heath. We made reservation and got table by window. Service was very attentive and friendly. Food was so tasty and spot on Turkish yumminess. We loved our experience and I highly recommend.

Good, but inconsistent. Free bread at times, others not. Nice Turkish delight with bill at times, others not. And waiters, please stop pacing up and down the aisle while customers are dining, very unnerving! But the food is delicious. Consistency would be an upgrade.

Lovely little restaurant close to the Royal Free Hospital. Great selection of small plates, with hummus, pitta, Babaganoush, falafel, spicy sausage and greek(?) salad.

We went for lunch on a wet and windy day. Service was informal but excellent, the food, mixed hot and cold tapas, equally good. A large proportion of the food is vegetarian or vegan which suited us very well. Good value for money.

Beautiful cousy place I was there yesterday. One Homless guy just sat down one of the outside table . He was very ill & bleedding. Owner of the restaurant called ambulance but later he decided to walked to Royal free hospital to take a wheel chair. I helped him to take the gentleman to hospital. Such a brilliant heart warming man . Will allways go & dine there . Thanks

Very nice family owned restaurant in London. Came here last Sunday after drinks in Garden Gate. Food was very good, but what I admired the most was when an older gentleman, who seemed a bit “out of it”, either drunk or special needs came in and almost caused a scene. Some patrons immediately noticed him, but the owner did something you rarely see in London; he treated him like a customer and a human being. After sitting there for a long time asking for cigarettes, the owner fixed him a plate and said he would give him a cigarette after he ate. Truly touching and we need more people like this owner. His caring nature showed in both how he treat customers but also his amazing food. Will definitely come back!

Bugün 26 Eylül 2023 salı Hempstead te Zara Anatolian Restourant'a denk geldik. Güler yüzlü hoş sohbet işletmecileri ile keyifli diyalogların geçtiği bir akşam oldu. Hasan abiyi ve arkadaşı Kenan abiyi de iyi ki tanımışız. Sıradaki ziyaretimde kesin uğrayacak karnım tok olsa dahi bir çayını içmek için uğrayacağım güzel bir insanı daha listeme eklemiş oldum. Bu arada kabak tatlısını şiddetle tavsiye ediyorum. :)

We have been to Zara 3 times over the past 10 years. The first time - we were given a lamb dish which actually had no lamb in it. A month ago we turned up at 11.45am and they would not even entertain us with a drink or take an order: just said we don’t open until 12! Then today we arrive at a lightly occupied restaurant with people in the middle of their meals at 4.45pm. And the waitress immediately said - sorry the kitchen is closed - we have been busy. Did she ask whether we just wanted a drink: no! She said then the kitchen will open at five and yet did not want to take an order! What kind of service???!!!! Also they insist on selling a mixed mezze at £13.50 per person but with minimum two people is simply crooked… it’s a starter! It should not need a minimum number of customers! Selling a kebab for £19 is just beyond the pale. We are local and frankly they are a disgrace to this community…don’t go here…

The wait was so long, over 1 hour just to get the first dish. It's cold mezze dishes — it should already be prepared. I have no idea what's happening in the kitchen.

Pros: Yesterday I had the Best Most delicious Iskender Kebab In London at Zara Restaurant. Overall the restaurant had a nice decoration which attracted us to try the food. As a family we all were happy with the meal and atmosphere the price wise was a bit expensive but you wont be disappointed the quality of meal worth every penny it. Cons: I ordered Sour Cherry Juice. I expected they bring it a bigger glass but it was small glass of juice.

Dishonest and predatory pricing on the menu. The mixed meze which has a minimum order for two people was advertised as £13 on the menu but when the bill came the amount charged was twice this; the establishment had taped over the part of the original menu which stated it was 13 per person giving the impression the minimum you will be charged is 13. This happened to us twice before we realised, the food quality for such a price was subpar at best, the entrées were of no special value, mostly lacking seasoning.

Food is always great. Service is a bit sloppy but it's still getting a 5 star from me because at least they are nice

This place is my family's favourite place to eat. I don't know whats inside their marinate but its amazing and the meat itself is so juicy and soft. The service is very friendly and welcoming and they have an amazing selection of wines to choose from. I will definitely recommend to try this place out, you won’t regret it!

I went here to eat food with my partner. The service was absolutely terrible. The food presentation was also absolutely unprofessional. The food looked like it had just been snapped on the plate, with no care or professional presentation. The staff members were opening drinks and drinking it, while the rest of the staff were having a conversation and missing around. As for the service they forgot to bring us bread. Did not check with us, to whether or not the food was all okay. And lastly, when we asked for the bill, kept us waiting there. The food is definitely over priced for the portion and service you receive. If you would like a good experience in a Turkish restaurant, I would not recommend this one.

Be very careful if you're gluten intolerant/coeliac. My daughter is in terrible pain after having a GF meal, and after asking for confirmation the meal was gluten free.

This is one of the nicest places to eat in Hampstead. The ambiance is lovely, the place is tastefully decorated with Ottoman prints and instruments, and the music is always a subtle mix of traditional instrumental Turkish. The starters and mains are excellent, particularly the stews and oven cooked dishes. But note: the plates are small, and unless you order a couple of starters and pita, you'll be left wishing for more rice (possibly more of everything). The desserts are the weak link on the menu. The baklava is nice enough, but everything else feels hastily put together. Overall, recommend, but be prepared to order lots and fork out a good £30/pp+.

Great little restaurant with fabulous food. We had the hot meze selections and the baklava, all of which were lovely. Well priced, too! Staff are lovely and friendly and have a nice family feel to it.

Delicious food, efficient service. Lovely decor, warm and welcoming. Bit of a language barrier with a couple of waitress as to explaining food. There are a variety of salads and very authentic. Easy to eat vegan and veggie.

The lentil soup was really good, the shish kebab meat was amazing, tender and very well spiced. The salad and rice were a little boring. The service was gentle, professional and the atmosphere is just as good as the service.

We had been in hospital visiting my grandad all day. Left feeling hungry. This gem of a restaurant is just around the corner from The Royal Free. The staff are fantastic friendly and nothing is too much trouble. They took the green peppers out of my dinner. The food is absolutely delicious. The best Turkish food I've ever eaten! My only disappointment was for desert there was only one pear left, so my sister and I had to share it. I cannot rate this restaurant high enough... wish it was closer to home.

Great local food for all the classica

I was passing by this lovely looking restaurant and thought I'd stop for lunch. I ordered the Tavuk Shish at £15.90. The meat and the rice was cooked very nicely. There was a very, very, small portion of side salad. It was all served and cooked very nicely but I found the portions very small. The total bill including service was £17.90 but I was still quite hungry afterwards. Seeing as rice and basic salad isn't at all expensive I think the price for a few cubes of meat is a bit too much.

This was my favourite restaurant ,But!! Was there last night and food wasn't as good and restaurant didn't have same feel it was messy and old I felt like it hadn't been cleaned .....I ordered shish kebabs houmous and calamari two glasses of wine the bill was 96 pounds ???....last time I went there for same dishes was 60 pounds ?? Never going back !!!!

Used to be a lovely restaurant and a family favourite, but sadly its gone down hill. Had to wait an hour for a main course. When it did arrive it was inedible - I think it had been under a lamp for the whole hour. Sent it back, but still had to ask for it to be taken off the bill. Front of house staff trying to do the best, but that only goes so far.

Turkish hospitality and cuisine at its worst. Oh dear!

Walked past and thought it looked lovely, booked a table for 7.30 so we could pop across the road and enjoy a drink first. Lady server kindly put a reserve sign on an outside table underneath the canopy. Came back to find our table had been allocated to someone else. They brought a new table out ( which was wonky). However as no room under the canopy, we were on the pavement. 5 minutes later it started to rain so we had no option to move inside. Would not have needed to if they had given us our original table. Now I could have forgiven that had the food been exceptional, sadly not . I had the meatballs, which were so dry i had to ask for a sauce/dip to accompany them. The meal which included boiled rice & salad was dry and of poor quality. My other half ordered lamb moussaka. The comment was it was ok but could not see much lamb. When the bill came we saw why, they had given her a vegetarian moussaka ! We pointed this out to the waitress, no apology and no interest, shrugged her shoulders and walked off. On a side note another table had the bill brought to them 3 times as they had been charged for extra items that had not been part of there meal.

Not impressed, and I won't be back. Ordered chicken breast in an interesting sounding tomato sauce with herbs and garlic, incl. rice and salad (Tavuk Tava). I got chicken pieces in a very watery sauce that tasted like a watered-down shop-bought spaghetti sauce. Had to use the teaspoon that came with my tea in order to eat some of it. The amount of rice was far too small, and so it was difficult to eat the sauce. The salad was uninspired and covered in salad sauce which I hate and hadn't ordered. Usually I eat salad with olive oil or something like that if I have it in a Mediterranean restaurant. The entire meal tasted very ordinary and cost £15.95. For £9.50 I wouldn't have said anything... The waitress was friendly. I won't be back. Worst Turkish meal I've ever had. Just a lack of love!

The food was very delicious and authentic. The service was quick, although they forgot to bring us the water first and brought cutlery after bringing the starter. The facilities were clean and tidy and the restaurant had nice music. It gets busy on a Sunday afternoon, so consider booking in advance. The prices are quite high but it's worth it.

I’m giving you one star because I placed an order via Uber eats, it was showing the order was on its way and then one hour later you cancelled the order.

Food was 'ok' took them over 50 mins to prepare our food (2 meals only) I requested a take away in the end and didn't find it particularly tasty or special But this is coming from someone that is in Turkey every 3-4weeks maybe my expectation was higher due to this. I won't be back unfortunately. Nice location and nice staff.

A small restaurant that brings you a taste and feel of Turkey. There's a generous diversity on Turkish dishes and the food is quite good, the staff are friendly, but not so welcoming. The prices on the other hand are ridiculous if you're coming in a group of friends.

Les plats ne sont pas aboutis Service : 1/5 : le restaurant doit manquer d’organisation car le service n’est pas efficace malgré le peu de monde lorsque nous y étions. De plus, la personne qui nous a servi n’était pas aimable, n’a pas noté notre commande et est revenue nous demander ce qu’on a choisi un peu plus tard. Ils ont oublié de nous servir nos boissons malgré que nous leur ayons rappelé 2 fois. Nous sommes partis sans consommer les boissons. Accessibilité fauteuil roulant : 4/5 : l’entrée du restaurant n’a pas de marches. La salle est suffisamment grande pour un fauteuil roulant. Je n’ai pas testé les toilettes.

A delightful family restaurant right by Hampstead Heath. Today was my first time at Zara. The food was standout: lots of choice and the best falafels I’ve ever had: light, crispy and juicy, melt-in-the mouth tastyness! The owner Hassan is the perfect host and the service generally was warm, informal and attentive. Today was cold and the fireside tables at the back beneath the lovely coloured glass lanterns from Istanbul made for a cosy gorgeous setting. We had a proper feast. Highly recommend!

There’s something magical about a place that makes you feel like family on your first visit. It’s never been the same experience twice, the host and staff are one big family, and extend that feeling to their guests. The food is somehow homely and exotic in equal measure, and each time I have eaten here I have been convinced that I have just found my favourite thing on the menu, only for it to be surpassed the next time. Can’t wait to come back.

Been here for dinner and had a great experience. Food was nice and tasteful, service was great, staff were nice and welcoming. The layout of the restaurant was nice and cosy and the atmosphere was really enjoyable and homely. I would definitely recommend this place and I will surely be back.

Zara sits opposite Hampstead Heath Overground station and stands out on South End Road with its open front, bright coloured lamps, and white and yellow fresco facade, depicting dragon-like peacocks. They offer superb Anatolian cuisine which we enjoyed eating outside on a balmy July evening. My girlfriend dined on Tavuk Shish, grilled cubes of tender marinated chicken, while I feasted on Güveç, chicken stew with chunks of hearty vegetables in a rich tomato sauce, presented in a handsome metal dish and spiced to perfection. Both dishes were served with fluffy white rice and on the side we had four pieces of sausage-shaped falafel (unlike the spheres it usually comes in), which came with a mound of creamy hummus to dip them in. To finish, we shared a portion of fantastic baklava - four large squares of crispy, syrupy golden-brown goodness served with two scoops of soft white vanilla ice cream. Our waitress was a young lady with long dark hair whose name I didn’t manage to get but she was very helpful, letting us know what had sold out and what was still available, and when we ordered a second bottle of mineral water but they’d run out, she gave us two plastic bottles of water free of charge. The price of our meal was very reasonable, too, considering the location. A fabulous experience from start to finish.

We have admittedly been here more than 30 times but that in itself tells you something. It is exceptionally good cooking in a neighbourhood restaurant setting. I have made a point of running the competition myself and Zara retains its crown as providing the best mixed grill ever. It could do with expanding its wine list by the glass or offering some higher quality half-bottles though.

I went to Zara for the first time in quite awhile. However I wish that I didn't. Although the food didn't taste too bad after we had finished eating I felt very bloated as did my lunch partner. As it turned out the meat that we ordered could not have been very fresh. And as a result of this my body spent a good deal of time getting rid of this food in the bathroom. If you see what I mean… I noticed that all the reviews on here are five stars and I find that quite suspicious. I did notice that one of the other low rating reviews mentioned an upset stomach also. Zara you need to be much more careful with your cleanliness and the freshness of your food. I have no doubt that this review will receive some kind of response denying the whole thing, predicted. Bottom line, I will not risk eating at your restaurant again.
