Had to wait 45min for 4 chicken wings and garlic bread. When I chase after 20 min I was told effectively to sit down and shut up. When I complain after 45 mins I was then classed as rude and was refused further service. Enter at your own peril.

We popped in here on the off-chance. We were in the area, weary, hungry and needed somewhere to meet up with the other half of the family. Lunchtime. It was very quiet. All fine and friendly. Nice seating. Games' shelf etc. The only slight issue came when we ordered food. Placed order (all fine) but then it took over 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Not quite sure what the problem was (no one else was eating i.e. so not a backlog etc). The waitress/server was so so apologetic and was really trying her best. So full marks to her - but still it was quite long. Felt my appetite had gone by the time the food came. Will try and come back again - maybe in the evening when some jazz is on.

I'm a regular here on Mon nights as upstairs is one of the very best jazz clubs in London, run by Will, and bringing us Londoners some of the best talent in the capital : tonights performance by the Jo Davies trio was simply superb, her new album was recorded here live so I'm really looking forward to it! The ambiance and acoustics are great, and the staff really friendly ... even the beer is okay though they do need a heavyweight bitter like Greene King Abbot or London Pride as their Good Old Boy is pretty much second division ..... we moved on to the Mahajana IPA which was better but still not quite there ..... The house wine is a far better option if there are two or more of you to share a bottle!

Absolutely great Mon jazz at the Oxford tonight, The Chris Maddock (sax) band really rocked with Liam Dunachie – Organ, Tobie Carpenter – Guitar, Ed Richardson – Drums. The music was energetic, spirited and played with passion - jazz doesn't get better than this! Loved Tobie on the gtr, huge talent! And big thanks to Will for organising this as its now such a great jazz fixture on Monday nights in north London! Look out for their gigs on their Jazz at the Oxford website or on Instagram.

Great music from the best new jazz players in London every Monday 8.30 upstairs in a marvellous high-ceiling room, perfect for the evening. New jazz musicians bring a fresh jazz sound to north London at the Oxford pub, in a lovely upstairs room with high ceilings and great acoustics, very comfy. Its organised by Will and he has a facebook page as well as featuring on the jazzlondonlive site. They recently bought a great upright piano with a lovely warm sound, so much better than the electric keyboards. Beer in the bar is a bit hit-and-miss, as the bitter and real ale choice somewhat limited. On tap the Budva is a good option though. And sometimes the Cwytch is okay, though its not cheap.

This was disappointing and no one seemed to care. There were NO cooked green veg available in spite of the menu's choices. Starters were all served with a garnish of rocket which was yellow and tired! Plates upon which the food was served were cold. The menu was more limited than before the temporary closure. It seemed that it was chips with everything! And for some reason I never quite got to the bottom of the waitress wrote out a pudding menu by hand on a page from a notebook and we had to pass it round.

Found this charming pub whilst looking for a quick dinner before a show at O2 Forum. It was not too busy and we immediately received a warm welcome. Good selection of cask ales and other beers and reasonable selection of wines. The menu was short and burger/steak oriented but included vegan option. Triple cooked chips some of the best I have enjoyed anywhere. Would definitely return if in that part of London again.

First visit back here after a long break as last meal had been disappointing so we thought we would give it another go. The staff were friendly enough, but too few of them, slow service purely because of their heavy workload. We both had the roast chicken which, when it finally arrived, was cold and the chicken was dry. The roast potatoes were very disappointing, veg were adequate. Yorkshire pudding was pretty good. All in all it was disappointing. Left with an overall feeling that whoever now owns the place is more interested in profit than quality or the treatment of their staff. Would not recommend.

The vibe in the pub hasn't changed and still works as an old fashioned local, I met Michaele and Conor who were both very friendly, they recommended a chocolate orange cask ale which was very warming. Booked for an early lunch (2 adults; 2 kids). They had high chairs but no kids meals. The food was great. Risotto and rib eye steak were particularly memorable. The sweet potato/almond curry was wonderful but too spicy for kids which in hindsight, would have been useful to know, as we had to order a little extra for the kids (they had chicken/potato croquets which were equally delicious). Great ambience, service, clean and inviting. Not the cheapest but would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in pub grub with a bit of flair.

What a wonderful place to have a private party. The decor and atmosphere were perfect for a birthday of 50 people, though the room can hold more than that. chic but relaxed, this is a beautiful room. From discussing menus to handing out drinks, nothing was too much trouble. It was like having a personal party planner and various dedicated waiters all thrown in for free. Even more impressive when the cost of the room is free - it's minimum bar spend only, so all your money goes on your event. Honestly? The food is good but this time the service was so-so. As I didn't want to sit next to the toilet entrance, I asked to sit somewhere more comfortable - on a square 4-seater and I was told it may get busy so we couldn't. It was not busy at all and there were plenty of tables. So, if you are just two they are mostly situated by the toilet. It really annoys me when it's clearly 3 quarters empty, not reserved and they say no. This is why the table next to us left as the rest of the restaurant was empty and they were forced to sit on the next 2-seater table. Real shame.

Nipped in for lunch with my son on Thursday 7th Sept. Never been here before and it looked promising. Son ordered chicken with truffle mash, veg and gravy, while I asked for smoked salmon fishcakes on wilted spinach. We would share a side of avocado fries. So far, so good. The sweet waitress fixed our wobbly table and brought water. But when my fishcakes arrived they looked unlike any fishcakes I had ever seen: five deep-fried crispy balls the size of small satsumas. This must be how they do them in Kentish Town I thought. Not how we do them in Dorset. I took a bite and had a weird taste experience. Nothing remotely like smoked salmon. So I took another bite, imagining there must be salmon somewhere but found myself chewing a glutinous mush vaguely tasting of fish with a few peas in it. I couldn't taste potato. So I cut some of the other 'fishcakes' and could see no sign of salmon so I knew that something was definitely not right. My son agreed. When I asked the waitress, politely, 'What is this?' she answered that it might be haddock because the salmon had run out. 'Well I don't like it' I said. She called the chef who, without any apology, told me that I had been given haddock because there were no more salmon fishcakes. He offered to get me another lunch but I had a train to catch and there wasn't time. He mumbled something about money off so we finished up the avocado fries and spinach and called for the bill. There it was: 1 Suffolk chicken 14.501 Avocado Fries 4.001LNCH Haddk Fshck 7.50 MPC 20% Off Food = -5.20 . We live locally and stopped into The Oxford for a meal last night with some friends. It was the second time we've eaten here since the refurbishment and the food is certainly better than it was before. Portions are quite small, and it's not particularly good value for money, but the food itself isn't bad. We declined the wine list as we were sticking to beer, and our server listed off what was available on tap. We went for the Beavertown Gamma Ray - which was lovely - but were shocked to find that it was £6.80 a pint when the bill came. We'd had several each by that point so not a particularly nice surprise, and I think our server could have warned us as we continued to order more. I'm used to London prices but I'm sure that's the most expensive pint I've ever had in a pub. Absolutely crazy. To be honest, I don't see myself returning. There's better food nearby - Beef and Brew and Pitstop are my local favourites - and much better places to drink. I'll stick to Camden's Daughter, The Lion and Unicorn, and the Camden Brewery Bar in the future.

A lot of money has been spent on this pub to turn it into a pretty decent environment. Not eaten here but for a quiet midweek drink, it's ideal. Despite the non-descript Greene King IPA at centre stage, there's a decent selection of craft ales. Upstairs there is a very funky private bar/meeting room for hire; a rather louche lounge but fun!

Drinks grabbed out of our hands after "last orders" and being laughed at as we leave the pub is not the best way to spend your Saturday evening.

Perfect place for a Sunday lunch. Great ambiance. Sunday roasts looked amazing but really nice slightly healthier alternative too. Charred cauliflower and vegetable dauphinois and sweet potatoes was delicious.

The menu appeared to be trying too hard. Food that is traditionally quite simple fair has been 'cheffed-up' and as a result is missing the mark big time. Our starters of salmon fish cake and potato cake were mediocre and downright poor respectfully. The fish cake was a bit bland but otherwise presented well. The potato cake was like a packet of crisps trying to be gratin dauphinois. The result was dry and lacking in flavour. Our mains weren't much of an improvement with the seabass being served with a mixture of hot, tepid and cold vegetables that were apparently supposed to be a warm salad. The chicken and hock ham pie was like a soup with a pastry crust. We didn't venture to dessert. Our waitress was very pleasant and somewhat embarassed that we were so disappointed with our food (we didn't pass comment on the starters). She was very professional in her approach and we couldn't fault her service in any way. Maybe we got an 'off' evening or maybe they are trying a new menu but we won't be rushing back for dinner any time soon.

Huge vegetarian portion of food! £55 is still pricey for a vege option but it was Christmas Day after all and the staff were very attentive. Atmosphere was great and it was a good first pub Christmas Day experience. No more no less!

The Oxford is a lovely pub in Kentish Town. The food is typical pub fare with a few other dishes mixed in for a flair. You can have small plates- the Scotch egg was delicious- or main dishes. There are a variety of roasts to choose from as well. The food was average, the service was excellent. Small plates were from 4-10 ponds and dinners from 11-15 pounds.

A typical London Green King, terrible fast frozen style food. Normal type Green King beers IPA of coures plus the typical guest beers. This place lack atmosphere, no buzz about the place, the decoration was typical and very boring. For me not worth it.

Good bar, nice room, lighting and music. Service is okay for a pub - depending who you get. But for a roast this place does it well. Good selection of veg, lovely meat - on the table of 6 we had Chicken, beef and the pork and all was good. The meals came with gravy and cauliflower cheese on the side which is delicious. This will be a regular Sunday :)

The food was excellent, however a group of teenagers who were obvious friends of the waitress decided to sit in the restaurant. More friends then came and at one stage there were 8, none of which ordered any food. Made it to be rather uncomfortable.

Came here recently with a few friends after work and I can't fault The Oxford one bit. It's been recently renovated and it's looking great! The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming to us all and were extremely knowledgable about both the drinks and food on offer. I can't fault one part of our evening out and I know a few of my friends have visited since with their partners and I know I'll be coming back soon!Keep up the good work guys, can't recommend you enough to everyone!

I went there with my partner for Sunday roast and could not have been more satisfied! The food was amazing. I had roast beef and ate the whole plate even I knew I am absolutely full. The potatoes were just spot on, Yorkshire pudding was literally melting in my mouth. The best thing was home made horseradish sauce and you could ask for as much gravy as you want for free. Must eat their cauliflower cheese too! I will be definitely back and told my friends about this amazing place so cannot wait to book a table there. Well done to all members of staff!!!!

Came here for the first time since the remodel. Pub looks great. Our waiter Jacob could not have done more to help us throughout. His recommended roast (chicken) was delicious. As was the chicken pie. We'll be back soon!

I came to The Oxford after the reopening and I was pleasantly surprised. You can see from the beginning there was lots of effort and time sacrificed to reactivate lovely venue. I've tried everything from lovely selection of beers, fresh food and end up staying until close in the upstairs cocktail bar!!! Definitely my first stop when in Kentish Town. Well done, keep it up!!!

Decided to try this restaurant on the recommendation of a work colleague. The food was amazing with both the service and the ambiance. I would highly recommend.

Absolutely shockingly bad service at 7.30am this morning at Ripe. I approached the cafe when the door was open at 7.05 am and asked if they were open and if they served gluten free bread to which I was told they open at 7.30 and yes- gluten free available. So I went back to my car and waited for 25 minutes until they opened. When I went back in and asked for a gluten free bacon sandwich the initial lady I had spoke to was trying to accommodate my order but as the bacon was usually served with a baguette she was struggling to put the order into the till or know what to charge me. She asked for help and was met with rudeness and unhelpfulness from her colleague who told her that gluten free was a sandwich and they weren’t served until after 11… had she checked with the kitchen that they had gluten free… and would they serve before 11…. This was then agreed they did have, but I couldn’t have a gluten free baguette I could have plain bread and I would have to pay an additional £1.50 for the privilege of having gluten free bread- rather than a big chunk of baguette????? I could understand if it was a gluten free sandwich vs a sliced bread sandwich as gluten free bread is more expensive… but not as a substitute for a baguette. The lady who was shouting about the £1.50 extra never gave me any eye contact or spoke to me directly. She was extremely rude and unfriendly. I asked how much the bacon sandwich would cost me and was told £9.50. There was a large queue behind me by this point due to the back and forth about the said gluten free bread….. there was a small gasp from several members of the queue and a comment “that’s totally ridiculous “ and a supportive nod in my direction as I said “no thank you” and left… hungry
