Gail's Kitchen in Camden

Was given an old scone and the workers there are unfriendly and quite rude.

Stopped for a cake and hot drink with family. Unfortunetly they had nothing gluten free. The girl tried to tell us in broken English that it was probably ok!!! She did not understand that wheat based products contain gluten! A slightly older girl tjen stepped in and said flatly that they no longer do gluten free only vegan?? and was that ok. NO, ITS SERIOUSLY NOT OK. So we decided to just have some beverages. I chose a large hot chocolate. What i got was a normal size cold milky chocolate. Heavens knows how small the normal size was. I asked for it to be heated up. Perhaps put it in the microwave. No, it got ditched and 10 minutes later nothing artived as promised, so I had to go back and ask again. Well, it was a bit warmer, but this time had hardly any chocolate ( how much does a spoon of chocolate cost in a nearly £5 drink). At that point i gave up and said nothing more as they were clearly clueless. I will never go to a gales again.

I have been a regular customer at Gail’s for many years and have always appreciated the excellent service and professionalism, particularly under the previous management, who were consistently attentive and efficient. However, during my recent visit, I was served by a staff member, an East Asian woman, whose behavior was notably unprofessional. This was unexpected and disappointing, as I’ve always associated Gail’s with high standards of service. It’s clear that there have been changes in management or staff, but I hope that these transitions do not compromise the quality of customer experience. As a long-time patron, I find it disheartening to see a decline in professionalism and hope the management addresses this issue promptly to maintain the reputation Gail’s has built over the years.

The worst service, the worst staff, food average

I'm a regular customer at my local Gail's. Yesterday I went here as was in town, and yes the food is always good (albeit stodgy!) and the staff were nice BUT the cutlery was really not clean. I got another fork but still it had marks in it, as if well-handled. Please can this be remedied? I didn't bring it up at the time as I had just had medical treatment and needed to leave promptly to get home. And regardless of that, as we all know - staff work their socks off, no one was free to take it up with. Hoping this hygiene point improves, now I've highlighted it

Review of Gail’s Bakery, Bloomsbury I recently had breakfast at Gail’s Bakery in Bloomsbury, and it was a delightful experience. Opening at 7 AM is a huge plus for early risers, allowing for a leisurely start to the day. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, complemented by the friendly and smiling staff who make you feel welcome right away. The freshly baked pastries are a highlight—each one is delicious and perfectly made. I also appreciated the selection of healthy juices, which are refreshing and a great way to balance out the pastries. Overall, Gail’s Bakery is the perfect place for an early morning breakfast, combining quality food with a friendly vibe. I can’t wait to return!

I had a stay in the hotel when I came to claim my discount, they refused it's just annoying.

This is the best Gails in London - the staff are always so kind and welcoming and they make the most wonderful coffee. I couldn't recommend it more! (Food is delicious too!)

I made a complaint weeks ago about the toxic environment created by that assistant manager, still the same bad service and negative attitude.

Lovely food as always but very disappointing service. The staff at the cashier specifically made us feel very unwelcome. We had a discount because we are guests at NUMA next door, but when we asked about the discount at the till, we were answered very impolitely. Perhaps the staff could benefit from some customer service training. I am a loyal customer of Gail’s, but I don’t think I’ll be back at this branch.

Drinks are ok, nothing special I would say , a Costa quality standard, staff most of them female with kind of a dirty feminist mind. As a man I feel can feel it straight away.

Busy place , I go to this place so often , I used to like it , I think they changed the manager , now it's just a mess . Never go there again.

Everything looked fairly descent until I got approached by that girl who they say it's the assistant manager, not welcoming, with a weird face: no hi, no hello, just what do you want. I understand immediately this place they don't need costumers, I think this is pathetic

This location is amazing, it's the only thing I find interesting here to be honest.

Food not at standard, the price is extortionate, the worst thing is the fake smile of the staff here, if you are not up to the task , there is people out there that can do better. Awful.

Cuatro fuimos a desayunar un sábado y me encantó la quiche de jamón y queso y la pastelería de natillas de arándanos. También pedí un caramelo salado (y posiblemente algo más) para compartir, pero me decepcionó ya que estaba bastante seco y solo la cobertura era caramelo salado. Mi marido y amigos dijeron que su comida estaba bien, pero no excepcional.

Delicious aroma from the moment you enter the store The layout is so appealing that I can't choose. The result is a full sweet bread without any side dishes. The muffins and brioche were okay. Sweetness is not that strong Some say I had too high expectations😅

A little more expensive than other bakeries in the area, and the quality is not particularly different. We were sitting on the terrace in a pleasant area.

I bought a strawberry and ricotta cake with iced chocolate drink and it was great. Prices seem fair for the quality

A lovely chain of Gail’s bakery with a stunning selection of pastries, bread, sandwiches and breakfast items. Yoghurts and birch bowls available, as well as bags of coffee. Fast service and delicious pastries and coffee. Indoor and outdoor seating available. I sat outside and despite the busy road works it was a lovely location. Huge portions, i got the almond and chocolate croissant and it was beautiful. Filled with lives of almonds and blended almonds. Very filling. I will be visit this Gail’s bakery again!

The price changes if you order outside, it becomes lower, but remains high Cinnabon has a very tender heart🥹 But does the iced latte have pieces of butter in it? I think I mistakenly took the wrong beverage because there were butter pieces in my Iced Latte?

Very nice atmosphere and delicious breakfast place. Inside of the place is very loud but that’s fine. I loved the coffee taste as well. You can find in any place, it’s a franchise cafe

Gail’s has the best, most consistent quality of food and coffee. Get their flat whites, espressos, lattes, anything - so so good. Their rose pistachio cakes are the absolute best. Plenty of savoury veg/non-veg choices and of course lots of delicious bakery items to choose from. Polite and fast service.

Everything we ate was delicious, the only downside is that the price per item you buy changes if you sit in the restaurant. It is very sad that places with high quality patisserie products are run like this.

Amazing staff (Aleya) As a regular Gail’s customer, I received exemplary service from Aleya today. I enquired about what vegan sweet treats were available. Aleya went above and beyond with recommendations, and was friendly throughout! Real asset to the company, and made my visit very enjoyable. Thank you!

Very good bakery for scones, great service

Buena visita hoy temprano. Personal amable. Café limpio, pero las mesas exteriores estaban sucias y el inodoro tampoco estaba tan limpio. Un flujo constante de clientes, así que obviamente lo está haciendo bien.

Called in for my favourite Butternut Squash & Sage Slice today , 1st July , the young lady with the brown hair who was serving was absolutely lovely ..please tell her , she made my day .

Crappy rude service.I don't understand why a so called reputable chain will not keep their food warm or otherwise let it be reheated. Surely customers are not stupid to spend £8+ pounds for a puff pastry to then be served stale food that's sat in their counter for hours. The staff are unfriendly and unwelcoming. Never supporting this business again and will go to the hundred other alternatives that are there in London.

Great spot for morning coffee and danish. The ham and cheese croissant is especially delicious.

I always enjoy a trip to Gail's for a light lunch or coffee and cake (I think I have tried most of them and they're all good). My visit to the Bloomsbury branch was just as expected. Cheerful and helpful staff who gave me a replacement cup of coffee immediately when I explained that mine was cold. I was impressed to actually be able to buy filter coffee - so many places try to fob me off with Americano which just isn't the same. If you want to sit inside, there is quite a lot of seating but coming a bit later (around 1.45) is a lot quieter.

The everything bagel with pastrami is very tasty. I liked how smooth the foam of the latte was.

I ordered mini sandwich, quiche and white americano. 14.2 £ Each one was very fresh and delicious.

Usually I take away but this time decided to stay. Quite nice atmosphere, the pain au chocolat tastes nice as well and the staff is very friendly. The fact that you guys do loose tea instead of tea bags is just heartwarming.

Had breakfast here for a week Great staff...it would be nice if we had such great staff at home too... Everything freshly prepared...top... Always my pleasure

Decent coffee with good bakery items

Was here two times at lunch time on a working day. There was always a place in the nice and relatively quiet sitting area outside.

I love Gail’s dark hot chocolate, but one from this branch is so watery compared to other branches Ive tried with thick and richness. They also messed up my order at the till, made me pay the same price twice with refund. For a tiny hot drink, £4 (with oatmilk) definitely not worth it. Will never visit this branch again.

Honestly great bread, and really good croissant and pain au chocolates. HOWEVER, I ordered a crispy chicken slider, and after a few bites I noticed the chicken was still pink/purple. I got really bad food poisoning for the rest of the day

Popped into the store yesterday (Saturday 6 April 2024) and greeted by a welcoming friendly young lady. I only purchased one item however she was friendly person who made my experience really enjoyable. Would visit again.

Gail's is pricey but hey, it's worth every penny! Food is yum. This shop has the nicest people working there too, so it's a 5-star win for me! I work next door and often need a selection of cakes for meetings, and have now decided to go in with the plate to avoid boxes and paper bags being wasted, and the staff always welcome my quirkiness of showing up with an empty plate lol

Absolutely perfect way to start your day in London. Great coffee and pastries. Croissant with ham and cheese (gruyere i think) is a must try!!

Banging croissant. Hard to find in England

Visited on 3 consecutive mornings for breakfast. The quality of the bakery items is excellent. We ate croissant, cinnamon bun (to die for and I don’t really like cinnamon!) orange juice and cappuccino. You can also watch the baker at work while eating breakfast. Everything in the shop looks delicious!

Great hospitality. I go gail every morning and staff always willing to help. People who is given a comment negatively, please bit of empathy.

We have paid for two breakfasts, I ordered a latte and an espresso ☕️. They never served me express. The attention of the girl who served us was terrible because she came back to us apologizing for the coffee she had understood was only one coffee, she came back and charged us for the coffee and in the end didn't serve it either.

I honestly had the best chai latte of London in this Gail's bakery, everyone must try it ! Amazing staff and nice location.

Every time I come product is not available or take at least 20 mins. Staff just said oh why you always come so early. Unbelievable! Nor the friendliest staff to be at the front of a cafe!

I think it's the worst thing I've ever eaten. The salmon bagel, in addition to being hard, had a very bad flavor. The lousy coffee. They didn't heat the food, I bought a juice and it came open.

This is by far the greatest Gail's franchise in all of London. While all claim to deliver warm coffee, there is nothing quite like the warmth of the Bloomsbury establishment. It lights up my day. Rita, Anna and Anthony in particular should be commended for their incredible attention to detail and beaming smiles. It doesn’t matter if I am busy or hungover, Gail's always seems to deliver what is required. I’ve had more coffee’s here than I can care to remember (each one better than the last). But what I will never forget is the sense of community and family that I experience every single time that I walk through the door. 11/10 from me, bravo.

While looking for a place to have breakfast, we found this place and wanted to try it. It was quite successful. I definitely recommend it. If you stay at Bedford Corner Hotel, they give a 30% discount.

Great little Bakery and Coffee cafe in a local clean shop mall.

Fantastic alternative to Italian Bear (where staff were so rude). Staff at Gail's were so pleasant and helpful. Cakes all looked amazing and lots of choice. Really enjoyed our cakes and hot drinks 😋

What makes this place unique is its staff, particularly Erica. On a Tuesday afternoon, I walked into the store looking for a non-diary product. Regrettably, none of free-diary pastries were available and Erica went above and beyond to accommodate my needs, looking for any product left around the store. Kudos to her, people like Erica make the world a better place :)

American here- but I live in NYC where we have tons of options (too many) and because of competition, everything has to be good. I often go into a new bakery or coffee shop when traveling with realistic expectations- that it could be hit or miss. This was HIT. Everyone- GO TO GAIL’S. This sausage roll was phenomenal, the Christmas Croissant and yoghurt pot was too. Honestly, this sausage roll might be something I grab a few to pack in my luggage for the trip home. I can’t stop thinking about it! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Muy rico el palito de queso. El café bien. Lucy, persona más trucha difícil de encontrar, no se pidió nada. Fue por dos razones: 1- Se comió una dona de Krispy Kreme y le rompió la panza (usted no aprende, verdad?) 2- Quiere ir a un shop pero por su petición fue denegada por ser hermana trucha lo cual hizo que se pusiera depresiva y triste. Obviously Gail’s is a chain but you can always get good coffee and (albeit pricey) the best almond croissants.

This is one of my most beloved cafes. The food and coffee are always delicious and the service is impeccable. Today, they really outdid themselves when I accidentally knocked over my coffee (because I’m a natural clumsy person) and before I could even react, they had already offered tissues and a fresh remade coffee. So thoughtful and sweet and helpful!

We were staying at the adjacent hotel so it seemed like a great place to have brunch but out of the whole counter there was only one Vegan option, a tiny muffin/bite, and no Vegan sandwiches or soups (this was at 11am). We ended up walking to a nearby cafe which seemed to have something for everyone.

Went to Gail’s for a quick bite and to catch up with my Aunty and uncle. The place was busy with only 1 staff taking order and there was a queue of about 6. 2nd staff came to assist but pulled a face when I told her we were dining in - not sure why. They were unable to provide us with proper cutlery as no man power to clear tables (we cleaned our own tables). Must say quiche was beautiful and so was the brioche chicken roll and feta and spinach roll. However the pastrami beef with bagel was a bit disappointing - found the bagel too dry. Flat white Coffee was good but not hot enough. Overall service could be better; will definitely return for another go but maybe not weekend. Thank you

Found this place on Google and absolutely loved it when we went. The pan aux chocolate was amazing and the cinnamon rolls were beautiful. Go if you get the chance.

From all the reading online this was recommended for a scone out it town. It was super easy and delicious. It’s a chain in London but I would return for sure.

One of my favourite bakeries, but this store closes earlier (6pm) than other bakeries (7pm for Ole & Steen, Pret) around.

I had a small bun with salmon, and the bread was not fresh. Very disappointed EDIT I visited for the second time, there was table outside without chairs therefore we took chairs from inside to bring them outside before ordering and we also cleaned the table outside for them which had cups from previous customers. When I went in to order and give them the cups, I was told off that I shouldn’t have taken the chairs outside. Very rude way of approaching especially because I was going to order and consume there. Left the shop after that and will never be back!!!

Absolute disgrace! I recently visited a Gail's bakery in Willesden and attempted to buy a Chicken sandwich, spinach pastry, sultana scone and gave them a £20 note. I was told I couldn't pay with cash and either had to pay with a card or would not be able to take the items. Gail's cash is legal tender!! This is a disgrace!!

Amazing bread as always. BUT, I took out my Gail’s app for points collection and the cashier told me to pay. So I paid, and then he told me that I can’t collect my points after paying and there’s nothing else he can do to reverse the transaction and give me my points. Seriously??

Get a soup for lunch on my office days. Last week was fine, this week they reduced the portions but for the same price. I heard the people serving me discussing that they can't believe they are selling that for £6 etc

This place is a wonderful bakery 🥐 and coffee ☕ shop! GAIL'S Bakery serves a wonderful selection of delicious 🤤 pastries, sweets🧁, bread 🍞, and sandwiches! 🥪 Definitely try their cookies 🍪 and puff pastry pastries! Staff 👨‍🍳 is friendly and helpful and the service is quick. ⏲️ I wish I knew about this place earlier!

Front desk till lady with the tattoos was total mizog *could be more polite* should learn to smile or communicate like she wants to work at the place. Thee coffee was literally a cup of milk. The only thing I could compare it to was a motorway greggs coffee! Yucky Food was untested, supposedly the Gail’s in Parson Green - Fulham is better from what my girlfriend told me. Her recommendation, not mine.
