Just had a delightful afternoon with friends at Trios, Pontnewydd, for afternoon tea. The welcome was warm, the service was first class. We were reminded of having tea with our grandmothers because there was bone china and starched tablecloths. The finger sandwiches were very tasty, the warm scones melted in our mouths and the cakes were delicious. We drank copious cups of tea and coffee and didnāt stop talking and laughing. We will have to return to there for a spot of spoiling !

Stopped at the Grazing Field Grill for some food. Had a bacon burger and some of the rosemary and sea salt fries. The burger, a beef burger with bacon, cheese and Baconaise in a brioche bun was as close to burger perfection as Iāve tasted. The quality of the meat used was exceptional. The kids had chicken nuggets, which instead of the usual fast food reconstituted chicken dust were actual chunks of chicken breast in batter. You can tell they are using good quality, locally sourced ingredients. Definitely going back, want to try what else they cook, but donāt want to miss out on another bacon burger.

Walking group had our Christmas meal here. The meal was very nice with all the trimmings and all homemade, the Christmas pudding also very nice with plenty of hot sauce, The two courses with tea and coffee included was very reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and nothing to much trouble. Would recommend their meals at anytime not just at Christmas.

Had another unbelievable meal here this evening, staff were so lovely, Harley was so helpful and polite offering too help bring over our drinks and the waiter (sorry didn't catch his name) was also a credit. Food was beautiful, none of us had a issue, so hats off too the chef, the chips and the coating, just wow, were perfectly crisp and fluffy inside, chicken dare I say the "m" word in fear of triggering people but it was cooked perfectly, as were the mixed grills and dessert has definitely finished me off, thank you all for such an enjoyable family meal. Lovely atmosphere š

Very disappointed. Came here a few years back when they were vegan for just veganuary - absolutely loved it. I have been dreaming about returning for some time. However this time we felt incredibly let down. One of the meals we ordered was the fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce. This plate only has 4 components, a fairly simple dish. The meal was brought out with no tartare sauce. When the waitress brought out another meal we asked for the tartare sauce. She told us "the kitchen has been too busy to make it". I'm sorry, but that is a terrible excuse. Imagine bringing out Mac and cheese, without the cheese sauce because the "kitchen was too busy". Or a loaded fries without the topping. Not only was this a poor excuse, the attitude from the waitress was far from appropriate. If the kitchen was too busy, tell us before we order a meal. We would have happily picked another option. Or when you bring the plate out with something clearly missing, be honest and open. Don't wait for the customer to have to ask. We did ask if the kitchen had some time to make some sauce then that would be great, because in all fairness the fish and chips was bland and clearly needed that component. She eventually returned when we had a mouthful of dinner left with what could only be described as mayo, a chopped pickle with a sprinkle of parsley. No seasoning. Basically, it was just mayo. We have been vegan for 5 years and was looking forward to going out for a proper vegan pub meal. I for one won't be returning. We had been planning on having a dessert, because it's not often that you have the choice to, however, after that incredibly poor service I didn't want to waste any more money or time in this environment. Maybe make the menu smaller and concentrate on smashing those items, as it didn't seem overly busy. We did speak to a lady at the bar prior to leaving who offered us a dessert. However, at this point we were too disgusted with the service that we couldn't bring ourselves to stay. On a positive note, the lamb kabab loaded fries was delicious.
