The Blinkin' Owl in Torfaen

Had another unbelievable meal here this evening, staff were so lovely, Harley was so helpful and polite offering too help bring over our drinks and the waiter (sorry didn't catch his name) was also a credit. Food was beautiful, none of us had a issue, so hats off too the chef, the chips and the coating, just wow, were perfectly crisp and fluffy inside, chicken dare I say the "m" word in fear of triggering people but it was cooked perfectly, as were the mixed grills and dessert has definitely finished me off, thank you all for such an enjoyable family meal. Lovely atmosphere 😊

Came for lunch with family and was served by Daffyd, amazing service very friendly! Visited with two deaf ladies and he even knew a little sign language which was amazing! Definitely be returning😊

Popped in for some lunch today as I sometimes do....front entrance was locked but people already dining inside!?....phoned the pub and a young lady let me in....the side entrance was apparently open!.... stood at the bar and was ignored by both young ladies....one lady in particular completely blanked me when it was my turn to be served!.... certainly no smile not even so much as a 'hello'....it's not the first time bar staff have ignored me here....I have simply walked out in the past....this time I asked for the manager....turned out the manager (and indeed landlady to boot!) was one of the young ladies who had been ignoring me!....I explained that the other young lady had blanked me and that I do at least expect a cursory greeting from bar staff...who wouldn't?!....to be fair she did offer something of an apology....then explained the young lady couldn't speak because of recent dental surgery....I already knew she had had dental surgery....as she was telling the customer before me all about it!....so clearly she still had the power of speech!....the landlady made it clear that she wasn't really interested and I certainly wasn't getting any TLC!....never mind.... always dislike complaining and find it embarrassing but customer service in the UK sometimes simply has to be experienced to be believed!

The Sunday Dinner for 4 was very good and a reasonable price, the only downside was that I had gone in on Tuesday and specifically asked for a Table in the Restaurant and we were bumped to the Bar, which was a little too noisy. We will go again but I will get a copy of the reservation and a Table number at the time of Booking!

I booked my husbands birthday meal for 17 of us and Claire and the team did not disappoint! We were asked to pre book everyone’s meal choice in advance, no problem at all. We all loved our food, it all came out at the same time and I have to say we had a great time at this lovely pub. We will be returning very soon!!

We had the Southern fried Hunters Chicken and to be honest it was the best meal I have had in a long time really tasty, you must try it 👍

We use the pub weekly to meet friends for dinner, we have never been disappointed by the food or the excellent service. We took a friend who had never visited the pub before and he was really impressed and said he is going to take his family for their weekly evening out. Stacey, Clint and their team deserve to receive praise for the massive effort they put into this pub to make it the success it is.

We came last year for Christmas dinner and it was so good we returned this year. The same great food and service. Will be back next year as the food is always fantastic

Friday 24th November and we had booked a table only the night before. We both ordered from the Festive menu, I had the pâté and toast, Sue had the garlic mushrooms. Throughly enjoyed them. For mains we both had turkey with the trimmings. Plenty of turkey, tons of vegetables and loads of gravy. Served piping hot. Really great meal. Afters was sticky toffee pudding for me and St Clementines tart for Sue. Perfect ending to our meal. Always a pleasure eating in The Owl, thanks to the efforts of Stacy, Clint and all the staff.

A busy place for Sunday lunch. Pleasant, hard-working staff. The people I was with had the roast beef and the roast chicken dinners. Plentiful, and they said the meat was good. Vegetables are served separately. It didn’t look appetising but there were no complaints and they cleared their plates. I don’t eat meat and there was no fish option (apart from scampi & chips, which is what I had). The only vegetarian option seemed to be vegan sausages. You have to order food at the bar (though no-one told us this).

Really good value, proper food. Great offers on every day of the week. Great for kids and family alike. Very welcoming team and no request is too big! Highly recommend!!

Had a very pleasant evening the Brains beer is superb, the staff are excellent, currently table service only but prompt and efficient shame about the Marstons app not a patch on the Brains app.

The blinking owl is always clean and tidy, the staff always welcome you. They all have very good manners, the food is always of a good quality. Would recommend it to anyone!!

We visited as a group of 5 for a family meal on a Sunday. I think we were served by the manager/landlord who was absolutely lovely and made us feel really welcome. There is a huge selection of food and drink and I especially like that you aren't restricted to roast dinners on a Sunday. I had cod, chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce with bread and butter and couldn't fault it. Tasty and a great portion size. I also had a large ice cream sundae for dessert which was good too. It feels like the kind of pub where the staff care and is more special than the average Brains pub. Will definitely visit again.

Me and my partner visited The Blinkin’ Owl while we were in the area, even calling to book the appointment the employees gave an amazing service, very friendly and welcoming. When we got here it was an amazing service, we ordered and food arrived quickly and was very well cooked.absolutely great value for money and the male server we had was a particular shining light of positivity in such a dark time for the whole world at the moment.beautiful food and lovely people we will be back again soon :)

We visited as support staff with our service users..and as always gavin and his team are so welcoming and helpful! All social distance measures in place and helped us to feel very comfortable with sitting inside! Food was lovely and lots of it..chef did his best to make sure we got what we ordered as covid making it hard on small businesses with food ordering etc,very easy to order at your table through the app, thou if you dont the guys will still take your order the normal way at the table! We enjoyed our visit very much and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice lunch etc! Process is easy and prices are great too! Staff are lovely! Worth a visit!Help small businesses! Went with my wife and two children for a meal and drinks. On arrival we were greeted with smiles and shown to our seats. Our children were given colouring in to do whilst we waited for our food (the bar staff are so friendly it makes these places more enjoyable to visit) Food was great and drinks topped it off nicely.

We had Sunday lunch here today and the food and service were excellent. The food was very tasty and plentiful and great value, 2 courses £10. The staff were professional and friendly even in these strained Covid circumstances. Would definately recommend this pub.

We have visited 10+ times and have never had a bad experience. The Staff go above and beyond and the food is always amazing with great value deals. Today we had 2 Peppered Pork Meals for £10. We sat down, ordered and ate all within 40 minutes. Looking forward to our next visit :)

The Blinkin Owl is the best value place to eat in Cwmbran. The food is always of a high standard (even at the busiest times, it’s always the same quality), great value and it’s a great atmosphere provided by the super friendly staff. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

Booked online, easy to do. We were seated in the beer garden in a nice shady spot.the benches had umbrellas if it did get too sunny. Wasn’t too busy and was a peaceful spot Had a couple drinks and a range of the sharing starters. The chicken bites with BBQ sauce were gorgeous as was the rest of the food. Ordering on the brains app was easy and service was quick. Served by a number of staff and all were lovely and happy to grab extra sauces and drinks. Even having to bring out drink orders separately without a fuss Big shout out to Claire, a welcome addition to the team and the reason we visited in the first place to check out her workplace. Will defo be going again. Car parking to the rear making it easy to access and preferable to the town centre locations.

It’s always lovely here. It’s clean and the staff are friendly. The food is delicious and you can’t beat the atmosphere. Portions are very fair for the price. I love the different deals too.

This was the third meal we’ve had here in the last 8 weeks and we’ve been very pleased with all of them. We were very satisfied with the menu - excellent choice of meals and all were beautifully cooked and presented. We were also very pleased with all the COVID measures the manager and staff have put in place. Also the staff have been helpful, friendly and very welcoming so I think we will be regular customers at the ‘Owl’ .

We've eaten at the Blinkin Owl every week since they re-opened and cannot fault a thing.The food is its usual great "pub grub" and very reasonably priced. There is also a good selection of beers on tap.What has particulary impressed me is how incredibly well organised the pub is to maintain social distancing while still being its friendly self.We took elderly relatives out for the first time in 5 months and they were understandably nervous beforehand. Within 10 minutes of sitting down, they were at ease a felt "looked after" and safe.A huge congratulations to Gavin and all the staff for running a brilliant, friendly family pub!

Only popped in by chance and expected a wait but we were seated straight away. Ordered our meals and drinks through the brains app which was a potch but we were impressed with the level of safety and social distancing being implemented by the staff.The meals were really tasty and presented attractively, my daughter's lamb was cooked beautifully and the fish I had was lovely and crisp. We all ended up having 3 courses which were well worth the money and thoroughly enjoyed - we'll definitely be back soon. We'll done to the two chaps who served us, your a credit to Brains!

We went to the owl our local was our first time since lockdown Gavin and his staff could not do enough to make you feel safe I was anxious about going out again. To be honest the food is so much tastier but is that the enjoyment of going out? Thank you Gavin

We have always received a warm welcome at the Blinkin' Owl and this visit was no different. Social-distancing measures were well implemented and we felt comfortable. The food was as good as ever and great value for money. We will be returning next week.

Good to see a business taking social distancing incredibly seriously. I took my young family there this evening. The staff were very nice and friendly taking time to speak to our 5 year old. The food was excellent and good value for money. I did have a small issue but this was rectified promptly and I did explain it may have been an error on my part. We will definitely return and recommend such a friendly place.

My husband and I had a delicious roast lamb dinner with all the trimmings earlier this evening. I failed to finish it as it was a very generous portion so hubby had some extras. All the staff, especially Gavin, were very attentive as always and the food was delivered in what seemed like no time at all, freshly cooked and piping hot

Went to the blinking owl pub today in Cwmbran. I must say the food was absolutely delicious Gav and the staff are always friendly. We have also had the takeaway option and food is always nice and hot and well seasoned. My favourite is the fish and chips, defiantly get your moneys worth. Nice to see the pub back open again, welcome back guys!!

Never had food from here before despite only living just up the road. Ordered 2 Sunday lunches and they didn’t disappoint. Loads of meat and the gravy was amazing. All boxed up ready for collection at the agreed time. My grandfather who has dementia and doesn’t tend to eat much polished the lot off!! The pics speak for themselves. This place has been a firm favourite of mine for a number of years. The staff are always pleasant and friendly. Now, in these uncertain times, they have adapted and are offering click and collect meals. Food was delicious and hot. As you can see I ate it all! Well done to Gavin and the team. Ordered the food whilst leaving town to pick it up and it was boiling hot and ready for when I got there. Morning was too much trouble ! Presentation was still as good as if it was on a plate! Lovely food, and a lovely welcome from Gavin!

Click and Collect Sunday Lunch absolutely fabulous! Beef and Turkey so tender, the veg was cooked just to our liking. The new Reverend James gravy was delicious. We ordered Cauliflower and leek side and I could have eaten a plate of that.Definitely recommend and will be ordering it again.Can’t wait for the pub to reopen!

had takeaway cod & chips and steak & ale pie on thursday, food was fresh and hot with great socially distanced customer service on arrival Good enough to return so quickly after a couple of days...Today we tried the sunday roast, 1 beef 1 turkey, both meats were fresh as was the veg and potatoes with a lovely meat dripping and Welsh ale gravy and homemade Yorkshires. Big portions. Couldn't fault either meals we have ordered and collected. Defo recommend! Keep up the good work Gavin & team

Absolutely an amazing dinner. Could've fed both of us 3 times over and the gravy was so tasty! Arrived in a 10 minute slot with hand sanitiser on the table if I wanted to use, handed a bag with mountains of food in and a lovely chat until the next customer came along. Clean and packaged well, just needed to warm up. I'm a regular at the Owl anyway so always trust them. Friendly staff and other customers. A very good day/night out when open. I cannot wait. Thanks for the dinner guys. Was lush!!

Had a really nice time here for a family birthday party. Good food and service. Everyone had a great time.

1st visit since the refurb.Rather dissappointed with finding the food menu is the same as most chains of pubs...Pretty boring! ( pre- portioned packets, bone dry pork chops, bone dry Gammon, chewy steak cooked to Medium on the mixed grill).I had The sirloin with added mushrooms & Scampi. My steak was ordered Medium & it was good, even though it looked as if it was more Med-rare: no blood thankfully on the plate. I had a jacket potato instead of chips & for a change; it was a large potato. Staff were friendly enough but more interested in standing around chatting & sharing things on they're mobiles, than checking if all was ok/taking food out after they had the message that food was ready from the food hatch.Bring back Home cooked food without packets & 'presses' to cook the meat on.

Yet again another fabulous meal, 2 steaks for £20 awesome deal, staff are amazing and friendly! Stay late and join in with the karaoke

Highly recommend Sunday Lunch. Very friendly staff and excellent service . We have also had several early evening meals which have been very good and always good service.
