Called in for a meal with my partner and her cousin the food was excellent and the service really good the staff we curtious and polite and extreemly helpfully the prices were good alround a truely good night out

Have been twice recently with friends for birthdays. Coincidentally on Thursdays, which turned out to be pub quiz. Was long quiz, but fun and food was really good! Friendly landlord/chef. Lovely atmosphere and the staff were very polite youngsters.

Excellent Sunday lunch beautifully cooked with a choice of 3 meats served with seasonal veg, mash, roasties and yorkshire pud and a large gravy boat full of rich gravy, cauli cheese as extra was a lovely addition, very reasonably priced, lovely and efficient staff.

Beautiful Sunday lunch - highly recommend.. Great size portion, meat (beef) was tender, plenty of veg & gravy - piping hot & fresh! x

Went for a meal tonight with friends. This is the second time I've been and again it was excellent. There was a large group of us. We all had a different main meal. I could not recommend The Mount Pleasant more. A warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere; and very kind, considerate and professional staff. I tried the Sunday Lunch for the first time yesterday after planning to for a long time, and it did not disappoint. The Starter (Jack Daniels Chicken) and Dessert (Lemon Meringue Pie) I had were also so good, I didn’t even manage to take photos before diving straight in. I’ve now experienced Sunday Lunch, Pizza Night, Burger Night and Curry night at The Mount Pleasant and it’s safe to say if ever I fancied any of those meals or cuisines again; The Mount Pleasant would be my go to every time. 10/10. The best pub, the best food and the best people. Fantastic value for money. Don't miss out!

What a Sunday dinner, absolutely beautiful, like real home cooked food but better. I had the lamb and my husband had the beef, we also ordered cauliflower cheese. Everything was cooked to perfection and couldn't fault a thing. It was just beautiful. Will definitely be back

Booked this a few weeks ago, this is a great little pub the food was amazing (3 course sunday lunch) there was so much and piping hot, couldn't fault it one bit. The staff were all outstanding. Meal was booked for 4pm for 8 of us. Then we had entertainment, Tina Sparkle Sunday Funday, music bingo, play your cards right, open Tina's Bag and karaoke.. Will return as it was a great afternoon/evening.

This pub has a very active social media presence so I knew it was burger night tonight and rang ahead to book and boy did it not disappoint! Plenty of space to eat and drink outside on the new decking that has only recently been redone and when sat out there, especially in the early evening when the sun is going down and the string lights above are lit up, the atmosphere is so chill! We each had a burger and upgraded our fries to loaded fries and everything tasted so good!! Good portion size for what you pay and quite reasonably prices for the quality of the food! Staff were also really welcoming and couldn’t do enough for you which is always a bonus! Highly recommend, will be coming back for food definitely!

When we moved to Cwmbran in 2019, this was a lovely little local that didn’t quite come through covid. It needed a lot of work and love put into it and we stopped going. Since the new owners have taken over and created a lovely outdoor space, the pub has a new life. It has a real identity now as a friendly local with lots of events and I’m so glad it’s been taken over by a couple who have such a strong vision for it. We live literally a stones throw from the pub and had disregarded it since covid and now will be making much more of an effort to go. Personal highlight was drag queen music bingo which was a hilarious night and I managed to win £90! I really felt like I was on holiday sat in the beer garden, no cares in the world. We will eventually get down there for some food because it looks incredible. Well done to the new owners for restoring the pub to a proper community hub with a real sense of identity. Proud to call you our local!

After many enjoyable sunday lunches at the the Mount Pleasant Inn we decided to try the Picnic table and i must say we were not disapointed 5 of us dined and all but 1 managed to finish it all, the steak burger was delicious as were the cheesy chilli chips and crispy onion rings in fact everything was to a very high standard as always and the 4 desserts outstanding I have to add that the recently refurbished car park and the extended decking area outside have been done to a very high standard, no negatives at all a very enjoyable experience and something a little different to sunday lunch which by the way i can highly recommend

Really like the vibe here now with the new owners. Responsive on facebook and very helpful when I had to change guest numbers due to an elderly relative being unwell. We had the Sunday lunch with a large group. Really good value. Then more recently we came back for pie night. Oh my word the pies are absolutely delicious. 💯

This has always been my choice of pub but it has gone down hill rapid, the choice of beers is non existent! Now selling brains smooth instead of John Smith's, after 2 pints of their new beer I spent 4hrs on the toilet!!! So it is not recommended unless you need a good clean out!!! Will be putting my good hard earned money into somewhere else!! Very disappointed.

Pontnewydd Male Choir performed their annual Christmas concert at the Salvation Army Citidal on Wesley Street last night (15th) which concluded with the choir members retreating to the Mount Pleasant for the after glow only to be provided by a lovely finger buffet kindly provided by landlady Louise much appreciated by all.The Mount is well worth a visit for nice home cooked food great selection of beers, largers and real ales.That's why is home to Pontnewydd Male Choir.

A small group of five went on a Wednesday evening for a birthday dinner. The early bird dinner is served between 5.30pm to 6.30pm for a two course meal. Nice selection of food and very reasonably priced, food presentation was excellent, and very friendly landlady, its a small but busy pub, but would highly recommend.

Popped in for a quick drink one lunchtime just before Xmas. Very friendly staff with a warm welcome. Quite a few people were having Xmas dinner.......it looked lovely. Regulars were also friendly. Have never been before and was a little apprehensive. But will definitely return and have some food.

Don't often go out for Sunday lunch as it's usually a disappointment with frozen veg and shop Yorkshire puddings. Was pleasantly surprised everything is home cooked my husband paid extra for mixed meats and he had heaps of tender lamb, beef and chicken. Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes were also nice though not crispy. I had vegetarian sausages. Good value meal with option of 3 courses the creamy mushrooms were nice but would have preferred the bread be toasted just my preference the Pate my husband had was great and lots of it. All in all left full and couldn't fit in a desert will definitely return maybe try a mid week meal. Good to see proper home cooked meals at a good price

The Mount is a very good, friendly pub., which serves excellent food and keeps a very nice variety of beers and ales. Isca Morris goes there every month after practice and we occasionally play there and are very well received by the customers and owners. It is highly recommended by me.

El personal era increíblemente servicial y hicieron que nuestra visita tan agradable nos sentimos como si estuviésemos en casa, la cena fue magnífica, verduras cocinado a la perfección, y salsa casera Yorkshires y la carne se caían a pedazos. El pub es un soplo genuina de aire fresco. Tan pronto como entramos, nos saludaron calurosamente y nos hicieron sentir bienvenidos. From the moment we entered we felt welcome-the staff are very friendly and pleasant. I was pleased to see a hygiene score of 4. The real ale was very well kept and there was a choice of two. Obviously if more people drank it I am sure the choice would improve. The whole building, including the toilets was immaculate. It was the sort of place where you relax the whole evening. Another lovely thing was the good mixture of clients and not once did I hear any swearing or other yobbish behaviour. They do a quiz on a Thursday-might well visit for that. Also dogs are welcome-as they should be in a Welsh pub. One thing I would improve and that is the very lengthy menu should be reduced -even massive hotels with armies of chefs don't do so much! Smaller menu and more unusual home cooked meals would be good. Oh and I forgot, no television, brilliant-pubs do not need them except for the rugby. There was a little non intrusive background music only which ensured good conversation. Thank-you

Went here for a Christmas meal with family, the starters, mains and desserts had a wide variety. Food was delicious and the service was excellent. Enjoyed it so much I booked another Christmas meal there! Would recommend the pub to anyone, a well maintained, clean pub with a very friendly atmosphere!

i would have given it a 5 rating but I have one complaint and that although the food is lovely the plates are always cold I would prefer hot food to be on a hot plate.As stated this is my only criticism and wont stop me returning.

Went to this pub early in December for a meal with friends to celebrate the Christmas season. The food was served promptly, it was attractive, hot and delicious. The staff were very friendly and made us very welcome. We enjoyed roast beef, salmon and the traditional turkey with all the trimmings and then some great desserts, we were a group of very happy well fed people, our empty plates said it all! Will definitely be going to the Mount Pleasant Inn again, we really enjoyed ourselves. Well done to all.

We have been to the pub for early evening meal on a number of occasions. They do a 2 course meal at a special price before 6.30pm, and it is excellent value.The food has always been freshly prepared and very good.Pub is very comfortable and cleanStaff are friendly and helpful.I was amazed to see the review saying it was dirty, out dated, and the food was cold etc. This is the polar opposite of what we have experienced, and of many of the other reviews.

The food was terrible & cold. The place is out dated & didnt look clean. Food on the carpet. The cutlery was dirty had to ask for replacement. Had we not ordered i would have walked out.

Visited en-route to Pembrokeshire to stop for Sunday lunch with the kids. Very friendly pub, intelligent staff and cheap Sunday roasts. Local ale was well kept and delicious, and the food was standard fayre but good for the price. Lots of parking out front, and we were made to feel comfortable by the staff and locals despite taking a three year old and a noisy 10 month old baby.

My wife and I visisted the Mount Pleasant with our Daughter on Thursday evening, we were greeted with a warm welcome and a smile. A great selection of Drinks were on offer from very friendly staff.The Menu had lots to choose from and a specials board. I had a Rare steak and my wife had the Hunters chicken and our daughter went for the Home Made lasagne. My steak came with Home made chips, Onion Rings, Mushrooms and peas...(He steak was cooked to perfection!The Hunters chicken came with a choice of Home cooked (Real) chips New Potatoes or Salad. Again it was cooked well, still moist and enjoyed!The Lasange was in its own dish and again a choice of Chips or salad, The Lasagne was amazing and lots of it too. The salad was very well presented with everything a salad should have... There was a good selection of deserts (some home made) like the Baileys Cheesecake. If we had room left after our meals we sure would have tried a few of them.The Chef is new to the pub and is excellent, its not very often you get one that comes to chat with you and check if your enjoying the meal... My Hats off to her... Keep it up! Its no wonder the customers are quing at the door.

We are a family of six including three children 5-12. We booked a table and what a lovely experience it all was. We had some difficulty finding the Inn (our fault) but once there was made to feel very welcome. The food was lovely, the service excellent. This is definitely on our list for future meals.

What another good meal the whole family mother in law, wife , daughter grandchildren all had a wonderful meal with a wide selection of typical sunday lunch on the menu. The staff were extremely helpful and efficient and very professional in there deployment and the way they presented the meal. What a good atmosphere with excellent food friendly and efficient staff, the whole family were made to feel welcome with a wide selection of dishes on offer including vegetarian good selection of real ales and wines. We were in a large party for a family lunch on a Sunday. We had a great reception from the bar and it was really easy going and chatty. As a party of 11 getting food together is not often achieved but we all ordered together and the food came out together, very impressive, and it tasted great. Not one complaint, only comments of appreciation. Now that's good going.

This pub was taken over by new owners in December 2014. Having never visited the pub before in all the 30 years I have lived in Cwmbran I was more than pleasantly surprised. They do an early bird from 5.30 to 7.00 Tues to Sat plus good main menu and then Sunday lunch. Have eaten here three times now. Excellent chef. All food fresh cooked to order. Great Sunday lunch. Hot baguettes with steak and onions a favourite. Mother in law loved the home made chicken curry. Husband loved his steak. Eton mess to die for. Will definitely be back. They also have quiz night on a Thursday and live music on occasional other days. Small pub but very friendly and good service.

I absolutley love this place,I have been to cwmbran on several occasions and tried the local pub/restaraunts this is by far the best, I think its a family run pub as all the staff seemed to be too pleasant just to be work collegues they were accomodating to me and my family, very friendly and couldnt do enough for us during our stay, My steak was cooked to perfection and my partners meal looked amazing both were washed down with some local ale which was so nice I had to get a taxi home! I dont usually leave my car in unfarmiliar places but after speaking with the landlady she assured me that it would be safe in the car park!I truely cant say enough and will be returning soon!Oh and the fudge cake was special!Thank you!!!!!!
