I was expecting a truckers cafe, and this was great, there were good honest food, good prices, great bacon butties, and soft fried eggs, mugs of builders tea, just fab and we will stop next time we’re passing for sure

· Wow where to start, I found this gem while visiting the local area. The inside is very warm and cosy and beautifully decorated. The staff were so warm and went out of their way to make me feel welcome. No impersonal self-check-ins here people! My room was on the top floor and can only be described as a cosy little snug. Gorgeously decorated with pretty lighting and an illustration of a castle. The bed was decent and had a lovely tartan rug on top. I was delighted to see there was a pretty antique-looking writing desk and chair in the room with plenty of space to hang clothes and store bags. There is a nice bath in the bathroom and this is the first place I saw had a proper bath matt as well as a matt in front of the loo. No moving the thin little matt around with a foot in this bathroom! I loved the fact that I could open the window in both the bedroom and bathroom. Pleasant continental breakfast, and decent coffee. The evening meal I had here was scrumptious everything on their menu looked amazing. The dining room had so much ambience and music in the background was not over loud meaning people were still able to talk to each other. Parking right outside. Bravo! highly recommend. I ended up booking a second night. Would visit again.

Went for lunch, a huge queue and as we were getting closer to the front, I noticed the staff member was asking for names and phone numbers. She then walked away and left the book open for everyone to view. My colleague gave her name and I asked why we had to give phone numbers. Response in case anyone RAN away without paying. I gave my works phone number as I was not comfortable giving my personal phone number, especially as the book is open for anyone to see. I did say this to the staff member and she placed a pen over the phone number as she took us to our table. A waitress took our order, very matter of fact and no smile. It wasn't personal as she was the same with every other customer. A little bit of pleasant customer service goes a long way. A young guy brought our drinks, he was lovely, well done. The food, panini with brie and bacon was delicious, however all a bit flat due to the welcome registration and the female server. Came home and looked up GDPR Lawfulness, Fairness, and Transparency - not told how the data would be used. Storage limitation - It was recorded in a huge book with hundreds of other names. I didn't see anyone destroying our information when we left and it is likely still there with many other names. Integrity and Confidentiality (Security): Absolutely no security The restaurant must be able to demonstrate that it is complying with GDPR principles. None in place. The place was busy, I didn't want to be confrontational as I wasn't clear on what was acceptable. You do know there is a huge fine applicable for breaking GDPR? I read another review where someone was unhappy giving this information. I don't event think they are allowed to take this information is there is no lawful reason to do so.

The chippy is just up the road from us but we probably only pop in to get chips once a month to go with a meal we are making. The chips are always good these days, as is the service and the staff are really helpful. On more than one occasion I’ve seen them going above and beyond to help out a member of the public. Also really pleased to see the phasing-out of polystyrene trays and plastic bags in favour of paper and cardboard over the last few years. Fish could always be bigger but you could say that about any chippy these days and the last few fish I’ve had have been really good. Highly recommended.

I recieved nasty burns in the sauna due to exposed screws on the seating. This is extremely unacceptable and I now have burn scars. I'm surprised with how this was handled with a "thanks for letting us know" I feel more should of been done to rectify the incident which should of never happened in the first place, no excuse for exposed metal all over the seating area of a sauna!

Very disappointed with our first visit for a while. We used to visit for lunch and to buy our plants on a regular basis, no complaints, but today we hadn’t a good experience. We ordered a small roast gammon & a small macaroni. The gammon was very tough, macaroni was quite black on top. The lady who was going to serve me said she would be back shortly but didn’t return. Then a man came and said he would be back. He did return and did serve us. When I went back with gammon two of the staff seemed to be having a disagreement about something. I explained to a lady about the food and asked for a small macaroni for my husband. She served it with carrots, cauliflower and one black potato. The macaroni was edible once we removed the black on the top. Feel it wasn’t really £22.58.
