We ate here on Friday evening. The food was very nice. I had the beef burger which was lovely. I also had the vegetable soup for starter, and sticky toffee for pudding. The service was good. The bill was just over £30 per person which was fair value. I would definitely come back again.

We received vouchers in a present, having arrived staff were friendly and helpful, although there was a wedding in progress we did feel slightly awkward, have to say we have had a better afternoon tea, sandwiches were quite meagre with fillings so was hard to tell what wadwhat, asked for butter but think they must have mixed it up as it had a slight taste of garlic, must say we were dissapointed on this occasion .

We came here on Sunday evening. The food was delicious. I had the haggis bon-bons for starter and the bolognese for main course and both were very tasty. The bill came to over £300 for 8 people including cocktails and drinks. The service was good, albeit I feel the staff could definitely do with an extra pair of hands to help them out with serving as they seemed quite rushed off their feet and there was no one manning the reception desk. Final point: can the snooker room get a bit of TLC please? The cloth has a huge tear in it, and the jukebox doesn’t work. I know it’s totally unacceptable when other guests don’t take care of the facilities, but it could still do with a bit of a spruce up!

Decided to visit Thainstone for afternoon tea having been to various functions there over the years, I have to say it was a rather disappointing experience on arrival to reception they were busy checking in guests so we stood back until they were finished. A lady asked if she could help we said we were in for afternoon tea, she replied I'm not sure where it's being served, she asked someone else then directed us to a side room asked if we wanted the sofas or table we opted for sofas we were left there for a good five minutes then someone came and asked if we wanted tea/coffee..it arrived and after another wait the sandwiches and cakes arrived well what a sad looking cake stand 3 finger thin sandwiches a tiny cheese wrap, 2 rock hard scones (you could have thrown them at the window and probably broke it) and 4 cakes per person, we had to ask for a refill of tea/coffee we were basically ignored for the 2 and a half hours we were there and never once were we offered any alcoholic beveridge, we thought we'd have drink along with our tea, honestly they should be embarrassed asking for £21.50 each plus £6.40 service charge. I wouldn't recommend it and won't rush back. Poor poor service and no one asked us to do Track and Trace..

Had dinner in the Green Lady this evening. Very disappointing. Much of the menu not available. Told it’s because menu changing soon and they are using up what is left. Made me a little concerned about the freshness of the food. Langoustines massively over priced and over cooked, falling apart. Basics like bread nothing better than mass catering. Fillet steak ordered rare, turned up bit more cooked than medium and tough. I could forgive some of this considering the COVID situation but not for the price which is far higher than considerably more respected establishments. We had decided to stay the night here on the strength of the advertised dinner menu online but in the end totally underwhelming. Also unfortunately bedroom tired. Big stain on the wall to sit and stare at, scuffed furniture and temporary plumbing repairs. In terms of positives I have to say the staff were friendly and it wasn’t very busy which is good for social distancing. Lots of potential but unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend.

We stayed for a night at the hotel and had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. The atmosphere and the service were excellent! However, the food was a bit lacking. The service was very slow at both meals (you could tell there was chaos in the kitchen). Further, the filet steak was not cooked as ordered and some of the appetizers and side dishes were underwhelming (artisan bread basket is a few slices of white bread and the avocado toast at breakfast was lacking the spices from the menu and not presented in an appetizing manner.) But overall, it was a great evening and I would recommend the restaurant! (Just don't expect a five-star meal)

Lovely hotel. Great staff however, food was below par. Afternoon tea okay but had better, and dinner, well sad to say but fries similar to McCains skin on fries, and battered fish not any better than Wetherspoons. Had to send mussels back to kitchen as shells not open and those that were, no mussels present. On complaining, were told that we were not the first 🙈🙊🙊. Would not return due to this.

Met a friend yesterday I haven't seen since last year and decided to give ourselves a real treat and go to Thainstone House Hotel for lunch. Staff really friendly, helpful and polite. The food, however, was a huge disappointment. We ordered beer battered fish and chips with crushed peas and a coffee while we were waiting for food. I asked if the chips were home made and was told "yes". I don't eat frozen chips at home and refuse to pay for them when dining out. I jokingly said "I will know the difference!" Coffee arrived and was cold. The food arrived, fish looked ok and served with a huge helping of greasy frozen chips and a minute side of crushed peas and tartar sauce. I was so looking forward to some good homemade chips but as the food was served pretty quickly I wasn't surprised they were not. I commented on the chips and asked if the menu stated homemade and said no but we'd asked and told they were. Waitress said she would go and get homemade, they'd only take 2 minutes? Returned in 2 minutes with huge long rectangular dark brown chunks that didn't even taste of potato chips. We did get 20% off but won't be going back. We'd have been better off going to a cafe.

Absolutely disgusted with GF menu for children even though we were assured at time of booking that there was ample GF choice My daughter ended up eating melon & salad! The poor waitress was so apologetic and of course was not her fault... won’t be back until the hotel / restaurant industry realise that Gluten Free is more of an option for kids Really really really disappointed with this hotel chain

We arrived around 11.30 for coffee but was so comfy decided to stay for lunch..which actually continued with coffee by the fireside leaving the hotel around 5. Everything was great except being spoken to so rudely when we asked for the bill. The Waitress made an announcement to the whole bar that we had not received out bill for lunch by 5 because we had left the restaurant with our paying! I was very taken a back. We had arranged to have coffee by the fireside in the bar - there was no request to pay as we left the restaurant. I was very embarrassed and did explain quietly the position but at the same time I was fuming underneath. The guests in earshot explained to me they were staying all weekend and had been on the receiving end of similar behaviour which they had also had to discuss with the manager. It really left a bad taste after having such a lovely time at the hotel, unplanned but so relaxing in lovely surroundings. We also witnessed the same waitress giving other guests into trouble for moving furniture and getting them to return seats to their original position with the explanation that it was due to Covid. Covid or not... the Hospitality industry needs to remember that service should be at the heart of what they do and making sure guests are comfortable and welcomed ( especially in these Covid times ) should be a priority at all times !!

Very disappointed with the value received at the new year celebrations. This was our 4th year in a row and our last year. Increase in price and a reduction in value when you consider no afternoon tea, no wine as part of the meal, canopies not the same variety as in previous years and excessive bar prices e.g. GBP 24.50 for two glasses of small house wine and one large glass of house wine. Staff and food continue to excel, however they seem to be missing David the previous manager and are loosing reputation along with customers.

Pre booked but staff 'did not know we were coming for afternoon tea'. Table set squashed into a window corner where cosy fire could only be seen by one of the party.Very low chairs and high table. Tea / coffee brought so early it had to be replaced. Food was delayed cos 'they didn't know about us'! Sandwiches ok but with thick bread. Scones crunchy like biscuits. Cakes small but tasty. Twice had to seek to pay with delay in between. Staff pleasant when seen Have written to Manager in detail. In other aspects the hotel has the age and charm as described by others.

A friend took me for lunch and was informed there was also a wedding the same day. Arriving early we thought we would have a chance to sample some cheer or refreshments. We were shown to our table and provided with one menu. We took our time catching up but as there was limited lunch choices we tried to find something we could both enjoy, not quite what was expected. There was a long wait for refreshments & for the order to be taken then a long time for the food to arrive. Whilst it the food was okay, the long gaps between our courses were not and we wouldn't go back. Maybe an off day?

From the outset I must say that the welcome provided by the receptionist and indeed the food was excellentHowever- the Prosecco lay unopened in its bucket until self service prevailed, the wine waiter struggled valiantly to open the wine leaving cork particles floating in the glass - he did offer to decant and filter the bottle. Truly! As already mentioned, the roast was delicious but I couldn’t help but think that the restaurant staff that day were way behind the ball and needed motivation. We regularly eat at Inverurie golf club restaurant around a mile from Thainstone, it would prove advantageous for the hotel’s management to visit that eatery and note how Gary Cox motivates his young attentive staff

This was a return visit as we had heard there was a new chef and a new manager. And it was well worth the effort ! The tasting menu was fantastic. Every course was beautifully presented, magic flavours and nicely proportioned. The venison was probably the star of the meal, but there were no disappointments. Combined with a nicely priced wine list, a lovely location and super service it was a great night. (Service in the bar before the dinner is the place they could do some work - quite underwhelming.)But we left happy - the Green Lady is well worth a visit.

Stopped into the house for afternoon tea. The surroundings are gorgeous and sat by the fire was extremely cosy and special. The tea was a large serving for one - we had a few extra cakes that the staff happily wrapped for us to take away. The sandwiches were a wee bit stale at the edges & the soup wasn’t very hot... Balanced out by the best scone I’ve ever had in my life.

Fantastic meal - 6 course taster menu - almost everything on the menu was gluten free. Had advised them on booking of GF requirement and this was not only noted but when I arrived in the restaurant I was told that the chef had indicated which two items on the menu were not suitable for me but if I wanted something from the a la carte menu he/she would make sure it was adapted if need be. I could only have one of the two puddings and I didn't want it so was willing just to forego that course but they came up with another alternative. I was not felt to feel difficult or awkward. Well impressed.

Back in June, 9 of my Danish colleagues stayed at Thainstone House Hotel. When I went to meet them at the hotel I was embarrassed by how run down the hotel looks. The road up to it is full of pot holes which is not a good start. The hotel is a beautiful building but the main doors look like they need rubbed down and re-stained. As you walk into to the hotel it looks unloved and scruffy with scuff marks and worn carpets. Coming from Inverurie I was disappointed as Thainstone used to be "the" place to go!!!The restaurant is very old fashioned -a beautiful room but still stuck in the 90's. The service was very inexperienced - they were just young lads - they struggled getting us the correct wine - took about 10 minutes. The food was good not brilliant but not poor. The main course had obviously been sitting on the hot plate for a while as the gravy splashes seemed to be welded to the plate. We had to ask for bread rolls and they came out promptly but were cold.We had booked in the morning so to me there was no excuse. My pet hate is tables set out for a full 3 course meal and none of the cutlery is removed after the appropriate course. I cannot stand soup spoons being on the table after the starter plates are removed or side plates being left on the table. If restaurants insist on using this type of setttings they should also clear properly too.So unfortunately for me due to the lack of love shown on Thainstone and the service not being up to scratch the experience for me was lack lustre and not a good advert to encourage visitors to Inverurie
