Had breakfast here on a busy Thursday morning (just before mums group with 7! buggies). Excellent strong coffee and bacon rolls. Great friendly service

We stayed at Windlestraw for the last night of our summer roadtrip. It was amazing and the food of a level we were not expecting. It was a set menu, everyone gathered for canapes and pre-dinner drinks in the lovely garden room before going through to the elegant dining room. I failed at a task I usually much better at and only took a couple of photos as I was enjoying my meal too much but every course was presented as beautifully as the two I did remember to immortalise.

Having spent a happy day enjoying the Great Tapestry of Scotland in Galashiels, we went here for dinner. It was Monday and we were told the kitchen was closed. The proprietor offered to cook for us though, as his colleague had previously said they would be open. We all ordered fish and chips. We were not disappointed. The best fish and chips I have eaten in a long time. Great, friendly service service and a good wine list. I enjoyed a delicious Sauvignon with my meal. Highly recommended. We will go back.

First stay at the Traquir Arms Hotel and restaurant and can definitely say it won’t be the last. I had a single room on the top floor the room was clean and nicely furnished and there was plenty of tea and coffee and lots of mini milk pots ( most places leave you a couple which normally only allows for one cup of coffee) Everywhere around the hotel and restaurants is clean and tastefully decorated and the staff are really friendly. I had an evening meal and breakfast and the food choices were excellent, well presented and super tasty.

my family and I went for lunch here, we were a bit worried after reading the previous reviews. however glad we never paid any attention to them as its a real hidden gem. The cafe is not everyones taste as a bit retro, however we loved it! tea served in a tea pot with cup and saucer and the staff were very welcoming and chatty, nothing a problem, ppe worn by staff and all track and trace carried out. menu limited but has everything you need. we will be back when in the area and lockdown allows.
