Now this is what I call a bowl of soup. The tastiest chicken and rice soup I've ever had. So filling unfortunately I had no room for a tasty toastie or any of the cakes on display. This welcoming cafe in the pretty village of Kirkmichael in South Ayrshire is well worth the drive. Just 20 mins from Ayr.

Went for Breakfast after hearing good things about it, we were not disappointed, the food was lovely and the coffee tasty and plentiful. The staff were really friendly and the cafe itself has retained much of its original style with wooden booths and horseshoe counter. A great place for breakfast or even just a coffee.

What can l say , such a disappointment. No idea of customer service, no understanding of hygiene. One young girl in particular, kept playing with her ear. Then running the same hand through her hair, and then scratching her stomach. Not once did she wash her hands, there was four people working. There was only one table occupied when we arrived. But took 20 minutes to be served, customers ( who were obviously known) . But came in after other customers, were served straight away. Even got there food before customers who had ordered before them. One table who were the fourth to occupy a table. It was 45 minutes before there order was taken. Poor coffee dreadful food.

This is a hotel restaurant in a great spot with amazing potential. The food was in general well presented however the food was over cooked. My starter of pigeon was way over cooked. They offered to bring a fresh one but it was exactly the same. Likewise the lamb main course was also overcooked

Called in on spec for alight lunch only to be told "it will be at least half an hour because we have a table of 10 and 4 . Really you can't cope with that? In any event all rather dingy and tired like too many of our Scottish Hotels.
