Called in on spec for alight lunch only to be told "it will be at least half an hour because we have a table of 10 and 4 . Really you can't cope with that? In any event all rather dingy and tired like too many of our Scottish Hotels.

We had lunch and tea here whilst staying at the nearby campsite. The food was good everything served piping hot. Toilets spotless. But it was the staff that made this place worth a return visit. They were so friendly and helpful.

Myself and a large party went to the restaurant for a farewell meal after a week visiting the area. I stupidly booked for the wrong date and thought all was lost! The team at this place pulled it right out of the bag with a fantastic last minute service, delivering excellent quality food and very short notice. Apart from feeling a little stupid, i couldn't have been happier with my experience. Highly recommended!

Staying at the hotel and eat in the restaurant, the food was lovely. Beautifully presented and piping hot. I had a starter of haggis with black pudding in a whisky sauce, followed by homemade steak and ale pie. This came with chunky chips and veg. My wife had creamy garlic mushrooms as a starter, followed by the most white fish and chunky chips. We both really enjoyed.

We stayed 3 nights but only ate dinner here one night. They did offer choices for gluten free and special dietary needs. Poor wine list.

this is the first time we have eaten here since the hotel became part of a small holding group . we had walked for 2 hours from our home along the glen to arrive for lunch. on arrival we were advised chef leaving in 15 mins so we better order fast (12 noon to 2pm). we arrived at 1.45....felt totally rushed to order and others asked after us to be told the kitchen is now closed. for 2 guys who were turned away we suggested they try the Wee House of Glenshee for a light lunch so they took our advice. because of the rush a misunderstanding over the order meant we got a main meal instead of a burger ( too late to change) so we made do with what we were given. the food was ok . the bar stays open through the pm so we decided to continue with a further drink until we left. Now this bit should be written on the door with the restaurant times....LAST ORDERS 15 MINUTES BEFORE CLOSING...that way you wont upset people with your attitude and replies when they try to order within the 15 minutes of closing time

We ate in the bar - starters, mains and desserts. All were freshly cooked, service was great, and the local beer was great. Would recommend.

Friendly waitress, lovely riverside view from the window table and the food better than it seemed from the menu. The apple tartlet was magnificent - best ever.

I'm lost for words at how much this hotel has gone downhill, I have frequented this hotel/bar for a long time and when it was originally taken over what a transformation for the best 😀 However I was very dissapointed in the decline in the hotel, it's lost all its character and charm. Nothing to do with the staff, they endeavour to do as much as possible but are over worked which management should review. I took my mother for a meal and it was a farce and of low standard considering the prices. The standard and the options of the menu are not what they used to be! The toilets were not clean and smelt of damp, tables needing a clean. Thankfully having read the reviews, I brought cash with me to pay for dinner. I'd question how securely card details are stored and the mechanism for destroying details, especially with a rise in identity fraud! I think the original management should take the time to invest in the existing hotels rather than expanding an uninspiring chain. This hotel used to be lovely and I loved taking my mother there, next time I'll take her into Blairgowrie In summary, AVOID and go elsewhere!

Omdat we in het hotel zouden slapen was het wel zo makkelijk om hier ook te eten. Eten is met liefde gemaakt en dat proef je. zeer goed advies achteraf ook over de verschillende lokale whisky's die werden geschonken.

I Went to The Bridge Of Cally Hotel for a meal & a quiet drink out & i was not dissapointed, the food was amazing I had the Inspired Challenge which lives up to its name the burger was the biggest burger I've eva seen, it stood at least 6/7inches high and was packed with loads of cheese, bacon & salad as well as 2 quarter pounders, the chips that came with it were cut nice & thick & cooked just right & not to greasy also the salad was lovely and fresh & the homemade dressing was amazing so much so I couldn't eat it all & I definatley didn't have any room for pudding afterwards. The service was top class all the staff were very polite & attentive. I would most certainly return again for another meal & I would have no trouble recommending it to friends & other people

Terrible food - really the worst we have tasted in a long time. Fish and Chips? Ha ha ha! The waitress was a nice enough girl; it wasn't her fault that the food was disgusting. The dining room was empty (I wonder why?) and very cold. Don't bother about this place - drive in to Blairgowrie and eat there, in fact anywhere but this restaurant.

Like the previous review we have also been to this restaurant a number of times over the last 6 years and we have finally given up! We have never really had a good meal here and have experienced quite rude staff. In a previous visit the girl who looked after the table bookings was quite curt and to put it mildly slammed our plates on the table. We complained about our cold dry food and received another curt, non apologetic response. Our latest experience - the same girl, yet again curt and rude! What kind of a restaurant gives menus, let's you order drinks then tells you there are no tables left! I explained that I would not pay for my wine as this was to accompany my meal and yet again experienced this girls curt and rude manner along with the girl behind the bar who ignored me and gave me a torrent of dirty looks! Customer service in this restaurant is worse than the food and that's saying a lot!! There is no need to go to this restaurant!! Please drive a couple of more miles up the road to Blairgowrie where there are a range of restaurants and the staff smile at you!

We have tried time and again with this hotel over the past 10 years, sometimes it's been okay and sometimes not. From our recent visit, at the moment, it's the latter. We tried to play safe and went for the fish'n'chips. It was bad. Soggy batter. chips like tasteless bit's of wood - we weren't brave enough to sample the peas, they looked weird! Normal apologies, "sorry we hadn't enjoyed it" etc. If they can't do fish'n'chips.................

We had heard the odd good thing about the restaurant so I decided to take my wife there for lunch. My wife is gluten and dairy intolerant, so we made sure to check beforehand what was suitable and made the relevant substitutions. The food was bland, altered from that which was described on the menu (without notification) and ultimately a bit of a let down. Worse was to come as my wife began to suffer symptoms of exposure to gluten/wheat on the way home, and that evening was violently sick. I notified the restaurant but received no response, no apology, not even an acknowledgement. We would not return, it was neither enjoyable, nor worth the money and on lack of courtesy alone, I would actively discourage anyone else from going in the future. A major disappointment all round.

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and ate in the Conservatory restaurant on the 1st night. The waitress must have told us at least 5 times that they had been really busy that day - good for them, but not something we needed to hear more than once (although a reasonable excuse for some menu choices not being available). Scallops sounded good for starter, but only 3 small scallops for £9 is not good value and in one of our portions a larger scallop had obviously been halved to look like 2! Venison casserole was pretty good and other main courses were OK, but nothing special. Kids meals were not small for the price. Overall it was OK for a captive audience, but definitely not good value and there are better places a few miles away in Blairgowrie.

Went for a meal here on a holiday to Scotland, good but not as good as other meals we had while there. I had venison casserole and this was quite chewy. Would not rush back. Try the Lairds house in Blairgowrie instead.

Having read the enthusiastic reviews of this hotel we decided to break our journey for either some soup or a sandwich on Sunday at lunchtime. The soup was the ubiquitous tomato and basil which we feel is a bit out of place in the land of fine soups like lentil, scotch broth, etc. so we thought we'd try a simple ham sandwich instead. Very boring ham, quite a lot of gristle, and no flavour, plus very dull white bread. A disappointing visit to a hotel we have heard good things about.

As you walk in you enter the bar which has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We arrived about 7pm on a Friday, it wasn't overly busy but we were seated straight away at a lovely table next to the window, with a nice view. The menu had plenty of choice and a different veggie option from the usual risotto or macaroni cheese which was much appreciated. Food cooked well and a decent size portion for the money you pay. We shared a cheese board for dessert which was just enough after the large mains. We didn't have a bad word to say about the place. Lovely people with lovely food.

We had been skiing as a family at Glenshee when we decided to stop here on the way home - partly in an attempt to get out the nose to tail traffic! Lovely and welcoming, little atmospheric bar and nice sitting lounge through the back with big comfy leather sofas, chess boards etc. Meal was lovely. Nice choice on the menu, food was well cooked and delicious - portions were huge - defy anyone to do a 3 course meal here! There is a lighter menu which is available until 6pm which would have probably have suited better but it is not available on a Sunday. Kids menu is good value, containing the usual kids favourites. Certainly my kids devoured their burger and declared them 'yummy'. Will def be back.

Last time I was here the fish and chips was really good. Afraid to say this time my wife had the fish and chips and it was cafe standard at best. I had the mac and cheese and I have to say this was the worst mac and cheese I have ever had in my life. Microwaved with what little sauce there was at the bottom of the bowl. The parmesan was probably fresh about a week ago and been sitting out since then. We won’t be bac. Pity as we are local. Staff (waiter, bar staff and receptionist) were pleasant enough though and can’t fault them at all.

We enjoyed two excellent dinners at the Terrace Restaurant. A special mention for our young server Harry who provided excellent and friendly service he was open he was a recent start but his desire to be the best he could be shone through and he had a very positive personality which made the whole experience very enjoyable. Management take note he is a keeper!

Avoid at all costs, I asked for a carrot cake to be heated( I have done this numerous times before) first guy said we can’t (I think he was training- so no problem) other guy said yes let me take it for you. The coffee took 5 to 10 minutes so carrot cake was cold, I asked for a re-heat and was refused after spending £18 plus for 2 coffees and 2 cakes. He said the chef recommended it cold - I can’t eat cold cake as it’s too dry and I have no saliva due to cancer treatment - do I feel like explaining this, no. I was here to collect a winter coat, I treat myself to something every year, never will I frequent House of bruer again, extreme reaction ? - No. I said to coffee guy I’ll speak to manager he replied “good luck then sir” I’m fuming.

I would give two stars for the food and one star for table etiquette. We were unimpressed when we sat down to a table setting of basic low-quality, stamped-out flatware with sharp edges. Three of us ordered meat (duck, pork and beef), the other fish. No alternative, appropriate knives were brought to suit the food, nor was the cutlery replaced after the starter. There were splotches of dried food debris on the underside of all the placemats, which apparently never gets wiped off when they are stacked. The food itself was okay, but portions were on the small side and overpriced for what it was, e.g. two slices of duck breast, 1" slice of sea bass, very little vegetable to accompany. The chicken liver parfait starter was good but came with only three small slices of toasted baguette and bread was £6 extra. There was an abundance of wait staff operating on high-speed settings. We had trouble understanding what kept so many staff on the run (literally) given the restaurant was not full and could have been disruptive were it a romantic dinner for two. We just watched the show. Overall, a four-star restaurant should pay more attention to detail, quality and cleanliness, if it wants to have a four-star reputation.

We had an enjoyable lunch at the Bein Inn. My partner said his burger was good, his purple coleslaw looked appealing and I have to say his chips (something neither of us is fond of) were probably the best we've had. I ordered a chicken fajita, which was the most unusual I've ever had: *everything*, including the rice (either pilau or basmati, not long grain as I'd expect), wrapped up in one big dod with three sauces on the side. It tasted fine and was filling, but looked tragi-comical. The young waitress warned us they had no avocados, but on questioning thought they may have guacamole; however it was substituted with some kind of chutney, which was ok if unconventional. On the plus side, it all seemed to have actually been cooked rather than banged into a microwave, which we appreciated. The service was good and friendly, and our food arrived in a timely manner, noting that we arrived at the beginning of Friday lunchtime when it was quiet. We're not in a hurry to go back, as the menu was limited and a bit overpriced, at least for my weird offering at £17. There seemed to be some renovation work going on in the entrance area, all good, but didn't add to the ambience. We'd originally looked into this for a Sunday lunch, which seems popular with others, would possibly try it for that in future.
